Bio!

Band founded and led by Mexican singer Jhoana born of desires and love for music.

Jhoana start in music from an early age participating in school choirs and various competitions.

Throughout adolescence participated in several amateur rock bands in Spanish, then enter the metal in various genres such as heavy, power, progressive, gothic and symphonic choirs both gaining experience as lead vocal.

From 2011 has the opportunity to record vocals for various metal bands.

During 2013 looking better musically decides to take singing lessons to polish his voice and thus having his first professional recording for Anna Fiori approach. Thus meets Silent Stream Records.

Sons Of Nephilim is an alternative band style by adding details of genres such as power and symphonic.

The intention of the band is to present professional, sincere, honest and heartfelt music where quality encompasses all aspects as musicians committed to the vision of the band, recording quality, good art, professional presentations.

Finally in late 2014 Jhoana find musicians who officially will record the first EP of the band as lead guitarist Eol

Sol Invictus in the second voice and guitar, Mr. Hat. Charly on bass and on drums. The Ep is under the direction and production of Anna Fiori and Nicolas Aguirre Records Silent Stream will be recorded by Andres Castro Signoret and mixed by Emiliano Obregon.

Hello! Thank you, for supporting me and supporting Mexican talent! It's my pleasure to know more about you and all your followers.

How have you been?

I've been fine thanks, i'm very happy with the reaction the audience has had with Sons of Nephilim.

I didn't expect so much love and support from the audience! We are very thankful.

Who is Jhoana? Please introduce yourself.

I'm a singer since i was 5 years old and music has defined my life. Most of the time i'm a cheerful person, but musically i'm a very committed person.

I consider myself a fighter woman, sensitive, kind, professional, sweet and very passionate. I've participated in many school singing competitions, gradually i met the rock world and later the metal which i felt more comfortable and identified. I'm a person full of energy and passion.

In my career i've been in many bands of heavy metal, power metal, progressive and gothic. But the genre where i feel more comfortable is alternative metal.

Besides, i've had the honour of singing chorus with great bands.

How old are you? How does your career started?

I started when i was a little girl and the first time i sang in front of an audience, i was 5 years old. It was a mother's day festival and since that moment i knew that was my real passion. I'm 28 years old.

Do you have another job besides the band? Do you study?

Yes indeed, i'm a singer but i'm a commercial manager too and i've been working at the same company since 7 years ago. I'm very happy with my job, it's an incredible place that has gave me the opportunity of get a better version of myself.

This company has allowed me to support my work team and my heads are incredible people. Besides I’m taking singing lessons since 3 years ago with the best teacher of the world! Anna Fiori! And the best friend too.

Which are your musical influences?

My musical influences are many, i'm a person who enjoy most of the musical genres and this has allowed me not being a prejudiced person about other singers. In this way i learn much more!

I enjoy listening pop, rock and a lot of metal. I like female metal bands like: Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, After Forever, Within Temptation, ReVamp, Elysion, Epica and Arch Enemy. Power metal bands like: Stratovarius, Helloween and Avantasia. Progressive metal bands like Ayreon, but i enjoy of listening Muse and Rammstein too! i'm a versatile person.

What are your hobbies?

I like to read since high school, when a teacher taught me the amazing power of reading and how you can meeting new worlds. I like drawing but i haven't drawn lately. I like to make smile people around me and i like to help them to make their dreams come true. I sing for any reason and more if Anna is with me, also i like travelling and walking.

Which is your vocal training and what is your range?

I'm a proud student of singing lessons DF and my lowest note is Mi 3 and my highest note is Si5.

What are your favorite singers, in and out metal genre?

In pop genre i like Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Laura Pausini, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga. In rock genre i remember when i was a teenager that i was amazed by the voice of Dolores O'Riordan of The cranberries, also i used to listen to Shirley Manson of Garbage and Gwen Stefani of No Doubt.

In metal genre i have always felt attracted by the natural voices like: Amanda Somerville, Cristina Scabbia y Sharon Den Adel. I admire Tarja Turunen, she is a legend in female metal and also i listen to Floor Jansen, Simon Simons and Anna Fiori, who always surprise me with her voice.

How did the band Sons of Nephilim began? What is your proposal? There will be a new album soon?

The band was born from my dreams and my passion with the music. I was looking for something professional and serious, because for a long time i was in many bands where the things didn't work out and frustration appears.

Just when i decide to be professional and spend most of my time training my voice, i had the fortune of meeting Anna Fiori. We have a mutual friend. People think she is just a pose person who pretends supporting Mexican metal, but she is real! She and her husband supported me when they saw how hard i worked. They were essential for the creation of the band.

I will never stop being thankful with them! They guided me and they introduced me to my current label Silent Stream. Find the members of the band was hard but nowadays i have an excellent line-up. The guys are very committed with the band and enjoy the music, we have fun like children. Rehearsing is very fun.

The band members are: Eol (lead guitar), Sol Invictus (second guitar), Mr. Sombrero (bass), Charly (drums) and me at vocals. Sol Invictus and i are professional singers, but Eol and Mr. Sombrero are good singers too! so you will listen to them in any concert.

We are starting to record our first EP and we are very excited about it!

For you, what does it mean the symphonic metal, gothic metal and power metal? Which one do you prefer?

For me all this genres are branches of the metal and these have taught me the possibilities and different uses of my voice. I have sung in each genre and i've enjoyed a lot!. You can listen all these influences in our songs.

Rock or Metal? Which one do you prefer?

Both of them! I love both genres. I'm more involved with the metal scene but i enjoy of listening a good rock song!.

Would you like to try a heavier or darker genre? like Heavy metal

Right now i feel very comfortable with alternative metal.

The sound and the theme of the band is already dark, but we don't rule out a collaboration with other genre.

Do you write songs? How is this process?

This is my project so i'm very involved with it! Anna and Nicolas Dobernack are supporting me as a producer. The lyrics and themes are 90% mine, but i've asked for help, at the same time i support people with more experience.

Anna and Fer are those who give me their opinion and help me with the process.

There will be a new vídeo?

There will! it's a surprise but are not ready to reveal it yet.

Right now we are focused in the recording of our EP.

What can we expect from Jhoana in this year 2015?

I hope so! I can tell that i'm giving all of me at the recording and concerts. I hope my work and the work of the band can make you guys feel this project like yours. I'm still waiting for 2 trips and we hope many invitations across Mexico or into abroad. One step at the time.

Un poco de su Biografía!

Banda fundada y liderada por la cantante mexicana Jhoana naciendo de los deseos y el amor por la música.

Jhoana inicia en la música desde temprana edad participando en coros escolares y diversos concursos.

Durante toda la adolescencia participo en diversas bandas amateurs de rock en español, para después adentrarse al metal en diversos géneros como heavy, power, progresivo, gotico y sinfónico tanto en coros como vocal principal adquiriendo experiencia.

A partir del 2011 tiene la oportunidad de grabar coros para diversas bandas de metal.

Durante el 2013 buscando mejor musicalmente decide tomar clases de canto para pulir su voz y teniendo así su primer acercamiento profesional grabando para Anna Fiori. De esa manera conoce a Silent Stream Records.

Sons Of Nephilim es una banda de estilo alternativo que sumando detalles de géneros como el power y el sinfónico.

La intención de la banda es presentar música profesional, sincera, honesta y de corazón donde la calidad englobe todo los aspectos como músicos comprometidos con la visión de la banda, grabaciones de calidad, buen arte, presentaciones profesionales.

Por fin a finales de 2014 Jhoana encuentra a los músicos los cuales oficialmente grabaran el primer EP de la banda Eol como guitarra líder

Sol Invictus en la segunda voz y guitarra, Mr Sombrero. en el bajo y Charly en la bateria. El Ep esta bajo la dirección y producción de Anna Fiori y Nicolas Aguirre de Silent Stream Records será grabado por Andres Castro Signoret y mezclado por Emiliano Obregon.

Hola mil gracias a ti por tomarte el tiempo de apoyarnos a mí y al talento en México, para mí es un placer poder convivir un poco más contigo y con toda la gente que te sigue

¿Cómo has estado?

Muy bien, muchísimas gracias, estoy muy contenta por la respuesta que ha tenido la gente con Sons of Nephilim y conmigo, nunca me espere tanto cariño y tanto apoyo, de verdad para mi y para los chicos es invaluable

¿Quién es Jhoana? ¡Preséntate con todos tus lectores!

Para mi es un placer. Soy cantante desde mis 5 años y claro eso ha definido mi vida; soy una persona muy alegre la mayor parte del tiempo, pero muy seria al momento de hablar de música. Soy muy comprometida; me considero una mujer luchadora, sensible, amable, dulce, profesional y muy apasionada.

He participado desde pequeña en concursos escolares de canto, después entre poco a poco al mundo del rock y después del metal donde me sentí mucho más cómoda e identificada pues me considero una persona llena de energía y pasión.

En mi carrera he tenido el honor de estar en bandas de heavy metal, power metal, progresivo, gótico para terminar en el género en el que me he sentido más cómoda que es el metal alternativo. Así mismo he tenido el honor de grabar coros para fantásticas bandas.

¿Cómo te iniciaste en esta carrera musical, que edad tienes?

Inicie chiquita y creo que la primera vez que realmente cante frente a la gente fue cuando tenía 5 años en un festival para el día de las madres desde ese momento supe que esto sería lo que llevaría mi vida. Hoy tengo 28 años

¿Tienes algún otro trabajo en paralelo a la banda, estudias?

Sí, además de ser cantante soy gerente comercial y tengo trabajando en la misma empresa ya desde hace 7 años, muy contenta de ello también es un lugar increíble que me ha dado la oportunidad, cuando la gente lo permite, de ayudar a superarse a quienes están en mi equipo de trabajo, además de que mis jefes son personas increíbles y llenas de calidad humana.

Adicional a ello también tomo clases de canto de manera continua desde hace 3 años en Clases de Canto DF con la mejor maestra del mundo y la mejor amiga también, Anna Fiori.

¿Cuáles son tus influencias musicales?

Mis influencias musicales son largas y variadísimas, sinceramente soy de esas personas que disfruta de la mayoría de géneros musicales y eso me ha permitido no tener prejuicios sobre cantantes y aprender mucho más. Escucho pop algo de rock y muchísimo metal, En cuanto bandas me encanta el metal femenino como Lacuna Coil , Nightwish, After Forver, Within Temptation, ReVamp, Elysion, Epica , Arch Enemy en el power metal, especialmente Stratovarius Helloween y Avantasia, en onda más progresiva adoro el trabajo de Ayreon pero hoy pueden verme escuchando a Muse y después a Rammstein. Soy muy variada.

¿Cuáles son tus Hobbies dentro y fuera del escenario?

Me gusta mucho leer desde que un maestro en la secundaría me mostró lo genial que es poder entrar a muchos mundo. También me encanta dibujar, aunque tiene mucho tiempo que no puedo hacerlo. Me gusta hacer sonreír a los que me rodean y ayudarlos a cumplir sus sueños. Canto por cualquier motivo y más si esta Anna cerca, me gusta caminar y me fascina viajar.

¿Tienes entrenamiento vocal, si es así cuál es tu rango vocal?

Sí, soy orgullosa estudiante de Clases de Canto DF, mi nota más grabe es Mi 3 y la más aguda es Si 5

¿Cuál o cuáles son tus vocalistas favoritas dentro y fuera del Metal?

En el pop destaco mucho a Christina Aguilera y a Alicia Keys, Laura Pusini , Katy Perry y Lady Gaga. En el rock me impresionaron mucho en la adolescencia Dolores O'Riordan de The Cranberries, Shirley Manson de Gargabe y de Gwen Stefani en su etapa con No doubt. En el metal siempre me sentí mucho más atraída hacía las voces naturales como la de Amanda Somerville, Cristina Scabbia y Sharon den Adel pero por supuesto admiro a Tarja Turunen que marcó una época en el metal femenino así como de Floor Jansen, Simon Simons , y a Anna Fiori de la que no dejo de impresionarme cada que la escucho cantar

¿Cómo se formó la banda Sons of Nephilim y que propuesta nos brindas? ¿Habrá nuevo álbum próximamente?

La banda nació de mi sueño y mi pasión por la música. Yo quería hacer algo de forma sería y profesional, estuve mucho tiempo en muchas bandas donde las cosas no se terminaban de concretar y eso me frustraba mucho. Cuando decidí ser una profesional y dedicar el tiempo y la constancia que requería mi voz tuve la fortuna de conocer a Anna Fiori a quien ya había saludado en algunas ocasiones por un amigo en común. Yo sé que muchos piensan que ella es la pose de la chica que apoya al metal mexicano, pero es totalmente real. Al ver mi empeño y mi trabajo me motivaron junto con su esposo Fernando Riccardulli a formar mi banda y se volvieron personas incondicionales desde ese momento, nunca dejaré de estar agradecida con ellos por guiarme en el camino y por presentarme con la gente de Silent Stream que es la disquera que nos apoya en este proceso.

Encontrar a los músicos adecuados fue otra batalla pero hoy por hoy tengo la fortuna de tener una excelente alineación donde los chicos están super comprometidos, disfrutan la música y nos divertimos como niños. Los ensayos están llenos de risas. La banda está formada por Eol como guitarra líder, Sol Invictus como según guitarra y voz , Mr Sombrero en el Bajo , Charly en la batería y yo como voz principal. Un dato curioso es que en la banda tanto Sol Invictus como yo somos cantantes de manera profesional pero Eol y Mr sombrero también son buenos cantantes así que en más de una ocasión verán a casi toda la banda cantar en vivo.

Ahora estamos por entrar al estudio a grabar nuestro primer EP y estamos muy entusiasmados

¿Qué es para ti el Metal Sinfónico, Goth Metal y Power Metal? ¿Cuál prefieres?

Más que la definición propia de cada género para mí son ramas del metal que me han enseñado muchísimo de las posibilidades y los distintos usos de mi voz. He cantado en cada uno de ellos disfrutándolo muchísimo. Hoy mismo podrí decir que pueden escuchar toques e influencias de esos géneros en nuestras canciones.

¿Rock o Metal, Rock/Metal cuál es tu punto de vista de cada uno?

Ambos!, de verdad que a mí me encantan ambos y aunque este muy inmersa en el metal disfruto de una buena canción de rock.

¿Te gustaría hacer Heavy Metal o algún otro estilo pesado y Oscuro?

Ahora mismo me siento muy cómoda musicalmente con el metal alternativo y la banda por si misma ya es muy oscura desde el sonido , los temas y la misma temática pero no descarto participación en más géneros.

¿Escribes algunas canciones? ¿Cuál es el proceso de escribir una canción para ti?

Siendo el proyecto mío estoy muy inmersa en él, por supuesto me está apoyando Anna Fiori como productora y Nicolas Dobernack. Las letras y la temática en un 90% son mías pero sin duda siempre pido ayuda y apoyo a gente con más experiencia así que le ha tocado a Anna y a Fer dar opiniones y ayudarme con el proceso de creación y correcciones

¿Algún nuevo video?

Habrá una sorpresa pero aun no estamos seguros, ahora mismo estamos totalmente concentrados en la grabación misma de la música

¿Qué nos espera de Jhoana en este 2015?

Espero que mucho, yo particularmente puedo asegurarles que todo de mí en las grabaciones y en los eventos que nos avecinan este año, espero que mi trabajo y el de la banda pueda hacer y sentir este proyecto tan suyo como yo lo siento. Creo que me esperan un par de viajes, espero que muchas invitaciones para estar en muchas lugares en nuestro bellísimo México, ojalá así mismo al extranjero pero lo iré soñando de a un paso a la vez.

¿Algo más que nos quieras compartir?

De verdad te agradezco mucho el apoyo a ti y a todos los medios que nos han tomado en cuenta no solo a mi si no a la banda como tal. Sons of Nephilim es un proyecto lleno de pasión, esfuerzo, dedicación y algunas lágrimas. Esperamos que todo eso podamos transmitirlo para todos los que nos escuchan.
