AEGONIA is an atmospheric gothic metal band from Sofia, Bulgaria, formed by Elitsa Stoyanova and Nikolay Nikolov in 2011. The band describes their music as fantasy metal with folklore influence. Magical acoustic guitars, violin and ethereal female vocals are followed by brutal metal guitars and male growling. The rich Bulgarian folklore has its place in AEGONIA's music with kaval (traditional Bulgarian flute), percussions and bagpipe. The debut album of the band, called "The Forgotten Song" (released april 2019), follows the story of the fantasy novel of the same name written by the front singer of the band with the pseudonym Nea Stand. Аnother release, which has a slightly different sound, is the single "The Maid And The Mountain". It is an original song which is specially written to sound as a traditional Bulgarian song from the region of Rhodopa Mountain arranged for a metal band. It also has a beautiful video clip.

The band performed alongside bands like The Foreshadowing, Antimatter and Charm Designer.

Recently the band released their debut album "The Forgotten Song". Meanwhile they are preparing the video of the second song of the folklore project "Samodiva" - first song is "The Maid And The Mountain". Another work is their collaboration with Teodora Stoyanova and Dobrin Stoyanov from "Freija" project who are participating in a new version of AEGONIA’s song "Of Love And Hate".

In The Lands Of Aegonia

An atmospheric, melancholic entrance accompanied by a beautiful violin full of feeling with a background conversation that accompanies this totally environmental overture, and near the end a strong and melodic sound!

Rain Of Tears

Sounds of nature and shady forest, that good acoustic accompanied by the kaval, full of lugubrious emotion and we heard a beautiful voice with soft tessitura, clean together with a slow but heavy rhythm, guitars and drums come together in a single time in this rain of tears.

With The Mists She Came

What a beautiful entrance sounds of wind accompanied by a mysterious cloud of emotions that acoustics entails, delights us again with a beautiful voice with a symphonic style that afterwards guitars and drums resound with forcefulness.

Restless Mind

More than one completely acoustic entrance, here we can hear a more musical passage accompanied by clean and guttural male voices in the background, good drums and guitars! Strong notes with slow times well mixed.

Dreams Come To Me

What a sublime entrance accompanied by a guitar and a bonfire, later the lugubrious symphony accompanies the ambience of those dreams that have to come together with a voice that tells us about this journey, a totally environmental song.

Battles Lost And Won

A fantastic and conceptual entrance, symphonic and narrative, in all the songs I think there is a bit of progressive rock with a doom style full of folklore! The beautiful voice of Elitsa is heard again! A long song.

The Offer

Sublime, sensitive, emotional entrances full of acoustic and strong guitars! Fast and smooth, heavy.

The Stolen Song

Acoustic sounds fill us even more with more narratives in Elitsa's voice, slow sounds and dismal harmonies full of sublime energy with somber notes that guide us towards a fantasy, combining guitars and drums that emerge and other times fade away.

Gone

Sounds and consequent and similar narratives, strong and ephemeral rhythms and sequences, a stronger and denser song, a bit of the beautiful voice of Elitsa in a cleaner and symphonic performance.

The Severe Mountain

A slightly different, faster and rhythmic entry, with the same sounds of wind and guttural background without losing the dark and dense harmony of much of the album.

A Bitter Fate

A more powerful and strong entry! With a longer time in the darkest and strongest gutturals, this great conceptual album full of musical mastery in its greatest expression is closed, going from loud sounds, fast ones to slow ones full of forcefulness.

The Ruins Of Aegonia

And closing with a totally environmental song and well executed that accompanies A Bitter Fate that was the strong closing of the album. With a beautiful voice from Elitsa that eclipses this musical journey.

My Recommendation

It is a very atmospheric album, environmental, melancholic, dark, strong and continuous, the sound and rhythm is slow and similar throughout the album I think it falls a bit in a 'loop' but the heavier elements musically within this record they handle the soft ones, the most acoustic and with a folk that makes itself felt. The strongest points of the band are in their Folk / Atmospheric/Doom elements, but they make a good combination with stronger notes when the guitars and the drums are united, it has strong and somber guitar passages, with quite good and good violin melodies mixed! That distinguishes this album very much! Forging a melancholy, gloomy and carefully balanced atmosphere, it is simply impressive and with good production as in "Rain Of Tears" and "Restless Mind". But at a time when the vocals come in, it's very little, he has good riffs like near the end of "Rain Of Tears" and in "A Bitter Fate". Very solid production gives a strong weight to his wonderful folkloric side which is handled with splendid skill! The rich Bulgarian folklore.

It is a good work and conceptual album as it was saying, and it is a bit difficult when you have to combine music and / or narrative, a story that goes hand in hand with perfect sounds without it being something similar in the whole concept of the album. It has a quite complete amount of narrative that surpasses its musical space and that can be something monotonous.

The Voice

The beautiful voice of Elitsa is clean and clear, with a sublime and smooth register, an intermediate register that is neither sharp nor so serious that it is heard at all times, the times that your voice accompanied the musical sequence stands out very much, adapts to the story and sounds, in the company of gutturals that are heard in the background except at the end of the album that were heard even more.

AEGONIA es una banda de metal gótico atmosférico de Sofía, Bulgaria, formada por Elitsa Stoyanova y Nikolay Nikolov en 2011. La banda describe su música como un metal de fantasía con influencia del folklore. Guitarras acústicas mágicas, violín y voces femeninas etéreas son seguidos por brutales guitarras de metal y gruñidos masculinos. El rico folklore búlgaro tiene su lugar en la música de AEGONIA con el kaval (flauta tradicional búlgara), percusiones y gaita. El álbum debut de la banda, llamado "The Forgotten Song" (lanzado en abril de 2019), sigue la historia de la novela de fantasía del mismo nombre escrita por el cantante de la banda con el seudónimo Nea Stand. Otra versión, que tiene un sonido ligeramente diferente, es el single "The Maid And The Mountain". Es una canción original que está especialmente escrita para sonar como una canción búlgara tradicional de la región de la montaña Rhodopa dispuesta para una banda de metal. También tiene un hermoso videoclip.

La banda actuó junto a bandas como The Foreshadowing, Antimatter y Charm Designer.

Recientemente la banda lanzó su álbum debut "The Forgotten Song". Una entrada atmosférica, melancólica acompañada de un hermoso violín lleno de sentimiento con una plática de fondo que acompaña esta obertura totalmente ambiental, y cercana al final un sonido fuerte y melódico!

Rain Of Tears

Sonidos de naturaleza y bosque sombrío, que buen acústico acompañado del kaval, cargada de emoción lúgubre y escuchamos una hermosa voz con tesitura suave, limpia junto a con un ritmo lento pero pesado, guitarras y batería se unen en un solo tiempo en esta lluvia de lágrimas.

With The Mists She Came

Que bella entrada sonidos de viento acompañado de una nube misteriosa de emociones que la acústica conlleva, nos deleita de nuevo con una bella voz con un estilo sinfónico que después guitarras y batería retumban con contundencia.

Restless Mind

Más de una entrada totalmente acústica, aquí podemos escuchar un pasaje más musical acompañado de voces masculinas limpias y guturales de fondo, buena ejecución de batería y guitarras! Notas fuertes con tiempos lentos bien mezclados.

Dreams Come To Me

Qué entrada tan sublime acompañado de guitarra y una hoguera, posteriormente la sinfonía lúgubre acompaña ambientando esos sueños que han de venir junto a una voz que nos narra esta travesía, una canción totalmente ambiental.

Battles Lost And Won

Una entrada un tanto fantástica y conceptual, sinfónica y narrativa, en todas las canciones creo que hay un poco de rock progresivo con un estilo doom lleno de folklore! Se vuelve a escuchar la bella voz de Elitsa! Una canción de larga duración.

The Offer

Entradas sublimes, sensitivas, emocionales llenas de acústica y guitarras fuertes! Rápida y suave, pesada y tenas!

The Stolen Song

Sonidos acústicos nos llenan aún más con más narrativas en la voz de Elitsa, lentos sonidos y lúgubres armonías llenas energía sublime con sombrías notas que nos guían hacia una fantasía, combinando guitarras y batería que surgen y otras veces se desvanecen.

Gone

Sonidos y narrativas consecuentes y semejantes, ritmos y secuencias fuertes y efímeras, una canción más fuerte y densa, un poco de la bella voz de Elitsa en una ejecución más limpia y sinfónica.

The Severe Mountain

Una entrada un poco distinta, más rápida y rítmica, con igual sonidos de viento y guturales de fondo sin perder la armonía sombría y densa de gran parte del álbum.

A Bitter Fate

Una entrada más potente y fuerte! Con un mayor tiempo en los guturales más oscuros y fuertes, se va cerrando este gran álbum conceptual lleno de maestría musical en su mayor expresión, pasa de sonidos fuertes, rápidos a lentos llenos de contundencia.

The Ruins Of Aegonia

Y cerrando con una canción totalmente ambiental y bien ejecutada que acompaña A Bitter Fate que fue el cierre fuerte del álbum. Con una bella voz de Elitsa que eclipsa esta travesía musical.

Mi Recomendación

Es un álbum muy atmosférico, ambiental, melancólico, sombrío, fuerte y continuo, el sonido y ritmo es lento y semejante en todo el álbum creo que se cae un poco en un ‘bucle’ sin embargo los elementos más pesados musicalmente dentro de este registro que manejan son los suaves ósea los más mas acústicos y con un folk que se hace notar. Los puntos más fuertes de la banda se encuentran en sus elementos Folk/Atmosféricos/Doom, pero hacen una buena combinación con notas más fuertes cuando se unen las guitarras y la batería, tiene pasajes de guitarra fuertes y sombrías, con melodías de violín bastantes buenas y bien mezcladas! Eso distingue mucho a este álbum! forjando una atmósfera melancólica, lúgubre y cuidadosamente equilibrada, es simplemente impresionante y con buena producción como en "Rain Of Tears" y "Restless Mind". Pero en tiempo en que las voces entran es muy poco, tiene buenos riffs como cerca del final de "Rain Of Tears" y en ‘A Bitter Fate’. Producción muy sólida le dan un fuerte peso a su maravilloso lado folclórico el cual se maneja con esplendida habilidad! El Rico Folclore Búlgaro.

Es un buen trabajo y álbum conceptual como lo venía diciendo, y es un poco difícil cuando hay que combinar música y/o narrativa, una historia que vaya de la mano con los sonidos perfectos sin que sea algo similar en todo el concepto del álbum. Tiene una cantidad de narrativa bastante completa que supera a su espacio musical y eso puede ser algo monótono.

La Voz

La bella voz de Elitsa es limpia y clara, con registro suave y sublime, un registro intermedio ni agudo y ni tan grave que se deja escuchar en todo momento, las veces que su voz acompaño la secuencia musical resalta mucho, se adapta a la historia y sonidos, en compañía de unos guturales que se escuchan en el fondo salvo al final del álbum que se escucharon aún más.
