Rioghan is a musical project realized by the singer Rioghan Darcy. Rioghan was founded in 2019 and is based in Lapua, Finland. Rooted deep in the gothic and progressive metal scenes, she should bring something interesting to the table for sure. She started out in 2010 as a writer of poetry and lyrics, but in 2019 I finally wanted to add something more to the mix and decided to flesh out some of the words with music.

Songwriting was not her forte so she teamed up with some skilled writers and together they created a 4 song EP "Blackened Sky" which was released in March 2021. The EP received positive attention in alternative scenes, some interviews and radio programs internationally. When things started rolling, she decided that she wanted to make a full-length album and she wanted to put together a new writing team for that. In between creating the demo album, they did some cover songs with Teemu Liekkala and 2 songs from the "Covers II" EP made it onto Spotify editorial playlists and have gained around 160,000 streams at this time.

The new Rioghan album “Different Kinds Of Losses” has been made in collaboration with Jonas Renkse (Katatonia), Einar Solberg (Leprous), Teemu Liekkala (ex-Manufacturer’s Pride, Red Eleven) and Teemu Koskela (ex-Celesty).

My Recomendation

The album by our friend Rioghan begins with Sight in a sublime, atmospheric, instrumental way with a very suggestive piano, with the whisper of her voice that hypnotizes and seduces, in Promises we have a start with some devastating forceful and melodic chords, that change of rhythm and aggressiveness that Rioghan launches when changing the voice, and then with great sublime and light sounds! In Breath we have a beautiful acoustic start in the beautiful voice of Rioghan, which later explodes strong, heavy and forceful, changing the rhythms and moments when it comes out more heavily, with Home we have a more alternative, melodic and rhythmic sound, we go with more energy and harmony, in Bruises excellent instrumental entry, light and soft, her voice stands out quite a bit in all the songs in a great way, where we can hear from powerful screams like in this song accompanied by voices in chorus to sublime and light voices , and so finally until Summer with that sublime, light rhythm and great background settings, closing this good album full of harmonic sounds, dark, ambient and forceful environments also in the company of the chords.

Rioghan's full-length album has a large dose of alternative metal, with those changes of progressive tempos and accompanied by gothic styles that are reflected very well in the atmospheres and lyrics of the album, 'Different Kind Of Losses' will catch you from the start. Started by Rioghan's great voice and in that combination with good technical contributions.

Rioghan es un proyecto musical realizado por la cantante Rioghan Darcy. Rioghan se fundó en 2019 y tiene su sede en Lapua, Finlandia. Arraigada profundamente en las escenas de metal gótico y progresivo, seguro que debería traer algo interesante sobre la mesa. Empezó en 2010 como escritora de poesía y letras, pero en 2019 finalmente quise agregar algo más a la mezcla y decidí darles cuerpo a algunas de las palabras con música.

La composición de canciones no era su fuerte, así que se asoció con algunos escritores expertos y juntos crearon un EP de 4 canciones, "Blackened Sky", que se lanzó en marzo de 2021. El EP recibió atención positiva en escenas alternativas, algunas entrevistas y programas de radio a nivel internacional. Cuando las cosas empezaron a rodar, decidió que quería hacer un álbum de larga duración y quería reunir un nuevo equipo de compositores para eso. El albúm de nuestra amiga Rioghan comienza con Sight de una manera sublime, atmosférica, instrumental con un piano muy sugestivo, con el susurro de su voz que hipnotiza y seduce, en Promises tenemos un arranque con unos acordes demoledores contundentes y melódicos, ese cambio de ritmo y agresividad que Rioghan lanza al cambiar la voz, y después con sonidos sublimes y ligeros geniales! En Breath tenemos un hermoso inicio acústico en la bella voz de Rioghan, que después explota fuerte, pesada y contundente, cambiando los ritmos y momentos en que sobre sale más pesadamente, con Home tenemos un sonido más alternativo, melódico y rítmico, pasamos con más energía y armonía, en Bruises excelente entrada instrumental, ligera y suave, la voz de ella sobresale bastante en todas las canciones de una gran manera, donde podemos escuchar desde gritos potentes como en esta canción acompañada de voces en coro hasta las voces sublimes y ligeras, y así finalmente hasta Summer con ese ritmo sublime, ligero y ambientaciones de fondo geniales, cerrando este buen albúm lleno de sonidos armónicos, ambientes oscuros, ambientales y contundentes también en compañía de los acordes.
