Who is GOTH!

G.O.T.H. (Glam On Thy Hell) is an American/Portuguese Gothic Rock band formed in the sunny city of Lisbon, Portugal in 2005 by Ivan Prim. G.O.T.H. showcases a mesmerizing blend of female/male vocals mixed with heavy and gothic atmospheres. Members include Kate Prim (female vocals), Ivan Prim (male vocals), star-wrestler Christina Von Eerie (bass), Christopher Dean (guitar), Julian Cifuentes (guitar), Zaki Ali (drums).

The musical creativity comes from composer, guitarist and lead vocalist, Ivan Prim and vocalist, Kate Prim, whose musical tastes were influenced by different genres like Glam, Metal, 80’s Rock to today’s Goth Rock.

¿Tell us about G.O.T.H band? What does mean, to every one this name?

Our name despite being a diminutive of Gothic, it actually means Glam On Thy Hell. When Ivan invented this name he did it with the meaning that whether you are on a red carpet in Hollywood or the dirtiest place in the world your posture and values must remain equal and true to yourself.

You have many musical influences, ¿What is the true musical concept of G.O.T.H band?

There are several concepts in our themes, there are themes that speak of love, death and hate as well as themes that are more social and religious and they are all interconnected. Our songs can have different interpretations depending on the listener, once again I say that our songs and lyrics have more than chords and words they are directed to a core of people and it will all be revealed, in time.

¿Who are everyone?

Our band consists of me (Kate) as a female vocalist, Ivan as the male vocalist, Dean on guitar, Christina Von Eerie on bass as Sam Baker on drums.

¿Tell us about the bands that have more influence on you? Vocalist in special, female or male?

I personally like Blind Guardian, Iced Earth, Nightwish (with Tarja Turunen), Sonata Arctica and my favourite vocalist is Tarja Turunen. About our band Ivan is the one who makes the music and lyrics, I cannot describe our music, I prefer to leave it to the discretion to the public, some say that it sounds like Evanescence mixed with Him and Avenged Sevenfold. I think that we don’t have one influence we have several, but at the same time we can’t classify a style. The music is what it is and worth what it is worth.

¿What music do you listen usually? Goth, Dark, Simphonic or?

I still listen to Rock and Metal, we are constantly listening to music all day, it’s our job, but it comes a time when we no longer can hear anything else, it is like the people that make reviews of books or translation, they walk around books to read all day, and then when they get home I'm sure they don’t want to read anything else, it’s exhausting despite the love for what one does.

¿Tell us about the new video 'Only One' what means to you that song?

For me is the music that I like most, I love singing it live because it’s powerful, with extremely strong lyrics and the dynamic have a super heavy riff but at the same time has serenity, without any doubt one that I like the most and I said that to Ivan when he made me listen to the song for the first time.

¿There will be another video?

Yes, we are thinking of two more singles at least but still don’t want to reveal too much because it’s still under construction but believe me, all of you will have big surprises.

Your new álbum came out a few weeks ago ¿How would you describe it? Heavy, Dark or…

I really like this álbum, all the songs have a good hook, the genre or style of music was the last of our concern, we can do a rock ballad like ‘Love and death’ and do a powerful and imperial song as ‘Glam On Thy Hell’, honestly I have no clue on how to characterize it.

¿Which the central theme of the new álbum? What kind of emotions described the new álbum? Pain or…

This album is a mix of emotions and there’s a story behind each lyric, has music that suffers with not ended love and also love that sometimes overcomes death, but also songs which criticize society. The song ‘Darkly in Candlelight’ is about a ritual and when I read the poem the first time I thought it was one thing and then Ivan explained to me the true meaning, it’s the most macabre lyrics of the album, at first glance they seams one thing but in the end they means something different.

¿Kate Prim, tell us about your musical carrer?

I always dreamed of doing what I’m doing, it was always what I wanted for my life, I had other bands but never worked, when I met Ivan he hasked me if I wanted to sing in duet with him and we realized that our voices matched. With the fruit of our effort and work we released this album with the help of our label Musicarchy Media that as been great for us.

¿Kate Prim, That surprises we have for this year?

Now we are preparing the tour in Europe, I hope to return to the United States for a second tour at the same time we will release a new video of our second single and more stuff I’m not allowed to reveal. J

¿What range of voice you have?

Honestly I don’t know despite ‘Dark Silence’ is the song that both (me and Ivan) hit high notes especially at the end, it’s almost a match between me and him to see who can reach the highest ones.

¿What are your hobbies?

I like to practice sports and to see series like Da Vinci Daemons, Game of Thrones but I also like to release my childish side and watch Family Guy, Simpsons and American Dad, I also love to watch documentaries about history or about our galaxy.

¿What is the best song and best describes the new álbum for you Kate?

For me it’s difficult to say the best music but maybe Only One, but it’s hard because they are all good, we created 30 to 40 songs and we chose 13. Ivan’s father, Filipe Prim, said that this is the G.O.T.H.’s ‘Best Of’. Felipe Prim has been a musician for the past 35 years, so if he said this, I think it means that the album in my opinion was well designed.

Quién es GOTH!

GOTH. (Glam En Tu Infierno) es una banda americana / portugués de Rock Gotico formada en la soleada ciudad de Lisboa, Portugal en 2005 por Ivan Prim. GOTH. Exhibe una mezcla fascinante de voces Femeninas / Masculinas mezcladas con atmósferas pesadas y góticas. Los miembros incluyen a Kate Prim (voz femenina), Ivan Prim (voces masculinas), estrella-luchador Christina Von Eerie (bajo), Christopher Dean (guitarra), Julian Cifuentes (guitarra), Zaki Ali (batería).

La creatividad musical proviene de compositor, guitarrista y primera voz, Ivan Prim y vocalista, Kate Prim, cuyos gustos musicales fueron influenciados por diferentes géneros como el Glam metal, Rock de los 80, y en la actual Rock gótico.

Háblenos un poco sobre su banda G.O.T.H. Qué significado tiene el nombre?

A pesar de que el nombre es un diminutivo de la palabra Gothic, para nosotros significa Glam On Thy Hell.

Iván fue quien lo invento y lo hizo pensando en este significado, no importa si te encuentras en una carpeta roja en Hollywood o en el lugar más sucio del mundo, tu situación y tus valores deben permanecer iguales. Siempre ser honesto con uno mismo.

Ustedes tienen muchas influencias musicales. Cuál es el verdadero concepto musical de G.O.T.H?

Tenemos muchos conceptos en nuestros temas, algunos hablan de amor, odio y muerte. También tenemos temas que hablan más de cosas sociales y religiosas, todas tienen una conexión.

Nuestras canciones pueden tener varias interpretaciones, dependiendo de cada escucha y es que nuestras canciones y sus letras son más que simples coros y palabras.

Están dirigidas hacia un núcleo de personas y pronto serán reveladas!

Quienes son todos los integrantes?

Nuestra banda consiste en: Yo (Kate)- vocalista femenina, Iván- vocalista masculino, Dean- Guitarra, Christina Von Eerie- Bajo y Sam Baker- Batería.

Que bandas han tenido más influencia en ustedes? Algún vocalista en especial? Femenina o Masculino?

Personalmente me gusta Blind Guardian, Iced Earth, Nightwish (con Tarja Turunen) y Sonata Arctica.

Mi vocalista preferida es Tarja Turunen.

Sobre la banda, Ivan es quien se encarga de crear la música y las letras.

No me gusta describir nuestra música, prefiero dejarlo a gusto del público, algunos dicen que nuestro sonido es una mezcla entre Evanescence, Him y Avenged Sevenfold.

Pienso que no tenemos una sola influencia en especifico, tenemos varias! Pero al mismo tiempo, no podemos clasificarnos en un solo estilo.

La música es lo que es y vale lo que vale.

Usualmente que música es la que mas escuchas? Gótica, Dark o Sinfónica?

Aun me gusta escuchar de Rock y Metal, constantemente estamos escuchando música casi todo el día y es que es parte de nuestro trabajo.

También hay momentos en los que ya no queremos escuchar nada!

Es por ejemplo como la gente que hace reseñas de libros o traducciones, se la pasan rodeados de libros todo el día y estoy segura que al llegar a casa, lo que menos quieren es leer un libro más.

Es exhaustivo! A pesar del amor que se tiene a lo que uno hace.

Háblanos del nuevo video ‘Only One’. Que significa para ti esta canción?

Esta es la canción que me gusta más! Me encanta cantarla en vivo por que es poderosa, con una letra extremadamente fuerte y su dinámica tiene un Riff muy pesado. Aunque al mismo tiempo tiene serenidad.

No me queda duda de que es la que más me ha gustado y se lo dije a Iván desde el momento en que me hizo escuchar la canción por primera vez.

Habrá algún otro video?

Así es! Estamos pensando en lanzar al menos otros dos sencillos pero aun no podemos revelar mucho.

Aun esta bajo construcción, pero créanme que todos ustedes se llevaran una gran sorpresa!.

Su nuevo álbum, salió a la venta hace un par de semanas.

Como lo describirían?

Realmente me encanta este álbum! Todas las canciones tienen un buen gancho, el género o estilo musical fue la última de nuestras preocupaciones.

Podemos crear una balada rock como ‘Love and Death’ y al mismo tiempo hacer una poderosa e imperial canción como ‘Glam On Thy Hell’.

Honestamente no tengo ni idea de cuáles son sus características.

Cuál es el tema central del nuevo álbum? Qué tipo de emociones describe el nuevo álbum?

Este álbum es una mezcla de emociones y hay una historia detrás de cada letra, tenemos música sobre el sufrimiento de un amor sin límites y también amor que supera a la muerte. Además de canciones que son una crítica hacia la sociedad.

La canción ‘Darkly in Candlelight’ es acerca de un ritual, cuando leí el poema por primera vez creí que se trataba de una cosa y luego Iván me explico el verdadero significado.

Es la letra mas macabra del álbum, al principio crees que se trata de una cosa pero al final significa algo muy diferente.

Kate, háblanos de tu carrera musical!

Siempre soñé con hacer lo que estoy haciendo! Siempre fue lo que soñaba con mi vida.

Estuve en otras bandas pero nunca funciono, luego conocí a Iván y él me invito a formar parte de este grupo de dueto en el que cantaría con él.

Nos dimos cuenta de que nuestras voces combinaban muy bien!

Con el fruto de nuestro esfuerzo y trabajo hemos logrado lanzar este álbum, con ayuda de nuestra disquera Musicarchy Media. Ellos han sido parte importante para nosotros.

Kate, que sorpresas nos tienen para este año?

Estamos preparando el Tour por Europa y esperamos regresar a Estados Unidos para un segundo Tour.

También lanzaremos un segundo video para nuestro segundo sencillo y muchas cosas! Pero no puedo revelar más.

Que rango de voz tienes Kate?

Honestamente no tengo idea, a pesar de que en la canción ‘Dark Silence’ ambos (Ivan y yo) alcanzamos las notas más altas, especialmente al final.

Esto es casi una competencia entre Iván y yo para ver quien alcanza las notas más altas.

Cuáles son tus hobbies?

Me gusta practicar deportes y ver series como Los Demonios de DaVinci, Game of Thrones, también me gusta sacar mi lado infantil y ver Family Guy, Los Simpsons y American Dad.

También disfruto de ver documentales sobre historia o sobre nuestra galaxia.

Para ti cual es la mejor canción y la que mejor describe este álbum?

Es difícil decir pero quizá ‘Only One’, es difícil porque todas son buenas!

Creamos de 30 a 40 canciones aproximadamente y elegimos solo 13.

El padre de Ivan, Filipe Prim, dijo que este álbum es lo mejor de G.O.T.H.

Este señor ha sido músico durante 35 años, así que si él lo dice es porque es cierto! El álbum tiene un gran diseño.
