Hi Friends! This week I interviewed another great singer; Hadassa of the band theNAME! From Holland! Read the interview and learn more about the previous album 'Unchained' and the new album!

How have you been?

 

Good! I hope you too!

 

How was 2014 for you?

 

It was a very intense and great year. A lot has happened. We got signed by V2 records, we toured with Tarja through Europe, we had the honor to do a lot of great interviews, we received great reviews about our album ‘Unchained’, we got discoverd by top producer Beau Hill and many other things happened. It was a great theNAME year!

 

Tell us about yourself! Who is Hadassa?

 

Behind the scenes, I am also always busy with theNAME: making new plans, writing new lyrics and melodies etc. Further, I am enjoying the great house I live in, I have the sweetest cat in the world, I love champagne, I like to go out (dancing, dining, concerts etc.), I love to spend time with my family and friends, I like all kinds of art and I love fashion. That’s a glimpse of what I like to do and who I am. Though my biggest dream is to continue being the singer of theNAME, achieve as much as I can with theNAME and enjoy it to the max.

 

What are your hobbies? What do you like to do?

 

Next to the things above, I also love to watch films and series. I love fantasy, I like it if it contains some great strong women to inspire me and I love it when it has a certain glamour.  

 

How was your musical training? How do you train your voice?

 

I used to take singing lessons. I went to different teachers who used different techniques on me. I noticed that it is important to choose the technique that feels best for you. Some techniques looked and sounded good to me as I saw someone else use it, but when I had to do it, it just didn’t work for me. Now I know what works for me and in the future I would like to take classes again to improve what I can do. Right now, it is important for me to keep my voice in shape. You can simply do that by doing the exercises you feel comfortable with, every day.

 

What does mean the name of your band, ‘theNAME’?

 

Silas made ‘theNAME’ up. He wanted it to express a certain attitude, like we are the name in metal J

 

What is the concept of theNAME?

 

Silas started the band and he wanted to combine heavy music with clean, female, pop sounding vocals. He found in me what he was searching for. We both love to give entertaining live performances. We both love to pay attention to how it sounds and how it looks. We both like to make music with lyrics that have a meaning. We both love (melodic) metal, and though that is a music style that requires a great technique, we are musicians who play with our hearts. Next to that, we both like to add a certain sensuality and a touch of rock ‘n roll to the music we make. So Silas wanted to make the music that fits him best and present it in a way close to him. And I just happended to feel the same way. That’s why this is the ‘concept’ of theNAME. It is the only logical way to us.

 

Which song of ‘Unchained’ do you like best and why?

 

I like ‘Draw the line’. I like the attitude of it and I like the dynamics of both the vocals and music. We usually open our shows with that song. The boys start the intro and when the intro stops, I get on stage and scream: ‘You dare to challenge me!’ After that, the guys play the rest of ‘Draw the line’. I love to show some attitude. I think it is important for people to show their strength. Next to ‘Draw the line’, I love ‘Into my dream’. Because of the music in total, but also because of the lyrics. I am an idealist. I have to add that I am proud that all the lyrics of ‘Unchained’ are written by me. I love writing a lot.

 

Has the album been received well by the audience and press?

 

Yes, and I am very proud of that! Of course there are people who like it better and some like it less, but that is ok. I think we have grown a lot since the last album and I feel we can grow even more. I am looking forward to recording an even better, new album.

 

 

With who would you like to sing a duet and why?

 

Oh, I would know a lot of great singers I would like to do that, like with Simone Simons, Anneke van Giersbergen, Lzzy Hale, Doro or Sebastian Bach. And of course Tarja, she is so sweet, it was an honor to tour with her!

 

Will there be a new album this year?

 

We are writing a new album at the moment, yes. But we will take as long as we need. We are not in a hurry. We have to be completely happy with it. It’s an intense process to create a new album.

 

Will you have guest artists on  your next album?

 

Maybe, if we feel it will add something musically. Right now we are first busy with creating the songs.

 

Will there be a new music video?

 

Yes, I think so! I love making up the stories for our music videos and shooting them. It’s like making your own little movie ;)

¿Cómo fue para ti el 2014?

 

Fue un gran año y muy intenso. Han pasado muchas cosas. Nosotros firmamos con V2 Records, recorrimos con Tarja por Europa, tuvimos el honor de hacer un montón de grandes entrevistas, recibimos críticas sobre nuestro álbum 'Unchained', que fuimos descubiertos por el mayor productor Beau Hill y muchas otras cosas han sucedido. Fue un gran año para theNAME!

 

Cuéntanos acerca de ti! ¿Quién es Hadassa?

 

Detrás de las escenas, también estoy siempre ocupada con theNAME: hacer nuevos planes, escribiendo nuevas letras y melodías, etc. Además, estoy disfrutando de la gran casa donde vivo, tengo el gato más dulce del mundo, me encanta la champagne, me gusta salir (baile, restaurantes, conciertos, etc.), me encanta pasar tiempo con mi familia y amigos, me gusta todo tipo de arte y me encanta la moda. Esa es una idea de lo que me gusta hacer y lo que soy. Aunque mi mayor sueño es seguir siendo la cantante de theNAME, lograr lo más que se pueda con theNAME y disfrutarlo al máximo.

 

¿Cuáles son sus aficiones? Qué te gusta hacer?

 

Por otro lado, también me encanta ver películas y series. Me encanta la fantasía, me gusta si contiene algunas grandes mujeres fuertes para inspirarme y me encanta cuando se tiene un cierto glamour.

 

¿Cómo fue Tu formación musical? ¿Cómo entrenas tu voz?

 

Yo solía tomar clases de canto. Fui con diferentes profesores que utilizan diferentes técnicas en mí. Me di cuenta de que es importante elegir la técnica que se siente mejor para ti. Algunas técnicas se veían y sonaban bien para mí cuando vi que alguien más las usaba, pero cuando tuve que hacerlo, simplemente no funciona para mí. Ahora sé lo que funciona para mí y en el futuro me gustaría tomar clases de nuevo para mejorar lo que puedo hacer. En este momento, es importante para mí mantener mi voz en forma. Tu puedes simplemente hacer los ejercicios que te sientas cómodo, todos los días.

 

¿Qué significa el nombre de tu banda, 'theNAME', quiere decir?

 

Silas hizo 'theNAME''. Quería que expresar una cierta actitud, como somos El Nombre en el Metal! 

 

¿Cuál es el concepto de theNAME?

 

Silas empezó la banda y él quería combinar la música pesada con voces limpias, femeninas, voces que suenan pop. Encontró en mí lo que estaba buscando. A ambos nos gusta dar presentaciones en vivo de entretenimiento. Los dos amamos a prestar atención a cómo suena y cómo se ve. Los dos nos gusta hacer música con letras que tienen un significado. A ambos nos gusta el metal (melódico), y aunque eso es un estilo de música que requiere una gran técnica, somos músicos que tocamos con nuestros corazones. Al lado de eso, a los dos nos gusta añadir una cierta sensualidad y un toque de rock and roll a la música que hacemos. Así Silas quiso hacer la música que lo mejor se ajuste y presentarla de una manera cerca de él. Y acabo de sentir de la misma manera. Es por eso que este es el "concepto" de theNAME. Es la única manera lógica para nosotros.

 

¿Qué canción de "Unchained 'te gusta más y por qué?

 

Me gusta 'Draw the line'. Me gusta la actitud de esta canción y me gusta la dinámica de ambos vocales y la música. Por lo general, abrimos nuestros shows con esa canción. Los chicos comienzan la intro y cuando la introducción se detiene, me pongo en el escenario y gritar: '¿Te atreves a desafiarme! "Después de eso, los chicos tocan el resto de' Draw the líne '. Me encanta mostrar actitud. Creo que es importante que las personas muestren su fuerza. Al lado de 'Draw the líne', me encanta 'Into my dream'. La música en total, pero también por las letras. Yo soy una idealista. Tengo que añadir que me siento orgullosa de que todas las letras de "Unchained 'están escritas por mí. Me encanta escribir mucho.

 

¿Se ha recibido bien el álbum por el público y la prensa?

 

Sí, y estoy muy orgullosa de ello! Por supuesto que hay gente que le gusta muchísimo mejor y algunos les gusta menos, pero está bien. Creo que hemos crecido mucho desde el último álbum y siento que podemos crecer aún más. Tengo muchas ganas de grabar aún mejor, el nuevo álbum.

 

¿Con quién te gustaría cantar a dúo y por qué?

 

Oh, me gustaría conocer a un montón de grandes cantantes me gustaría hacer eso como con Simone Simons, Anneke van Giersbergen, Lzzy Hale, Doro o Sebastian Bach. Y, por supuesto, Tarja, ella es tan dulce, sería un honor hacer un tour con ella!

 

¿Habrá un nuevo álbum para este año?

 

Estamos escribiendo un nuevo álbum en el momento, sí. Pero vamos a tomar el tiempo que necesitamos. No tenemos prisa.  Estamos completamente felices con este álbum. Es un proceso intenso para crear un nuevo álbum.

 

¿Van a tener artistas invitados en su próximo álbum?

 

Tal vez, si creemos que va a añadir algo musicalmente. En este momento estamos en primer lugar ocupados con la creación de las canciones.

 

¿Habrá un nuevo vídeo musical?

 

Sí, creo que sí! Me encanta hacer las historias de nuestros vídeos he imaginármelas. Es como hacer tu propia pequeña película
