Greetings friends! here with the Interview of the Week! I had the opportunity to talk with our friend Cindy Cannon vocalist of Discord band! A very entertaining interview!

 

Discordia is a Dark Symphonic Metal Band from the San Francisco Bay Area.(USA) Some may even argue to say they were the first of it's genre from the SF Bay. If not, they are definitely the most recognizable and influential. Ever since they emerged onto the scene in 2011 there has been a number of new Symphonic and Power Metal bands forming in The SF Bay Area (even as far as Sacramento and Central Valley CA).

¿Tell us about you! Cindy, who is Cindy?  With Discordia and with out Discordia, the woman!

 

I’m just a regular girl that works in the medical field. I have a job just like everyone else. I’m not gigging or touring with Discordia, I gig on the weekends quite a bit with a Duran Duran tribute band.

 

Discordia is an everyday occurrence. I’m always having to speak with fans and media. Our publicist keeps us all pretty busy. If it’s not that, I’m always in correspondence with Bobby or Becca either recording or working on arrangements for the new album.

 

¿How was your training musically and vocal?

 

My father is a professional guitarist and my mother is a famous Salvadorian singer, she's actually on tour right now.

I was surrounded by music and musicians when growing so I learned a little here and there on what to do and what not to do.

 

¿Which are your influences in the Rock and Metal?

 

I have many influences from when I started until today. I love all kinds of music. Scorpions, Bon Jovi, Shakira, Rainbow with Joe Lynn Turner, Def Leppard, Mana, Black Sabbath. As far as Metal, Epica, Opeth, Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, Theater of Tragedy, The Birthday Massacre, Cradle of Filth, Nevermore, Kamelot. I also love classical music. Really into Mozart and Bach.

 

¿How you joined to Discordia band?

 

I actually started out playing bass because there was another singer. She didn't work out so I stepped in afterwords.

 

 

¿Why this name of the band ‘Discordia’?

 

It's Greek mythology. Eris, the Goddess of Chaos and Discord. It's female based and works out great.

 

¿What does mean Dark Symphonic Metal? How is that composition?

 

Bobby and Becca just naturally gravitate towards writing music on a somber note and it works out well with my voice. I love singing to darker music in minor keys. Becca is a classical teacher and scores music for films and video games so she has that whole moody thing down. Some of the new symphony arrangements and choirs on the new album are quite grand. We are really excited about it. We are also re recording the 5 songs on the EP because Becca wasn't on it and her new arrangements and scores are incredible. Not too mention that the EP was very rushed so we could have something on the market when we'd go out to perform. None of us are really that happy with it, but it served it's purpose and is now out of print. The newer versions will shine a much brighter. Our new drummer Elijah is amazing and is allowing us to up the ante and take it a little farther.

 

 

¿Currently you have any projects parallel to band? ¿other band or?

 

 Just Duran Duran Duran. I'm in negotiations with some guest vocals for a couple of other bands

 

¿Do you like have to do some duet with other female vocal or male vocal? With who?

 

Becca is a wonderful vocalist and will duet with me on 3 songs. Bobby has a couple of parts as well. We sing the last verse of Prince of Lies together. Johann Liiva (original Arch Enemy vocalist) and his wife Alexandra Adler will both be singing on the new album as well

 

¿What new material is prepared for the next year? Some advancement!!

 

Like I said earlier, we are recording the 5 songs on the EP.   We have 6 or 7 new ones as well. We're still deciding on which songs to put on the album. Weaving Madness and Legacy of Hate from the EP are the first 2 parts of a 4 song series. A mini concept. Part 3 is Prince of Lies (which we've been playing live) and Part 4 will be a 13 -15 minute epic song to finish it off. We'll probably add demo versions of couple of the new songs on our sites just to keep our fans interested until the real album is released.

 

¿Will there be any Tour in USA?

 

As of now, we're planning on an East Coast tour in the in July. We are not signed so our touring is limited.

 

 

¿Anything else you'd like to share my friend with your fans?

 

I'd like to thank all our fans. We always do our best to communicate and talk to each one of them. It would be impossible to do this without our friends and fans worldwide. Hopefully one day we can come to your town and country and play for you and have a beer afterwards.

Saludos amigos! aquí con la Entrevista de la Semana! tuve la oportunidad de platicar con nuestra amiga Cindy Cannon vocalista de la banda Discordia! una entrevista muy amena!

 

Discordia es una banda de metal sinfónico oscuro de la bahía de San Francisco (USA). Algunos incluso pueden argumentar que decir que eran el primero de su género de la Bahía de San Francisco. Si no es así, que son sin duda los más reconocidos e influyentes. Desde que surgieron en la escena en 2011 ha habido una serie de nuevas bandas Symphonic Power Metal y formando en el SF Bay Area (incluso tan lejos como Sacramento y el Valle Central CA).

¡Cuéntanos acerca de ti! Cindy, quien es Cindy? Con Discordia y con fuera de Discordia, la mujer!

 

Soy sólo una chica normal que trabaja en el campo de la medicina. Tengo un trabajo como todos los demás. No estoy dando conciertos o gira con Discordia, que sus conciertos los fines de semana un poco con una banda tributo a Duran Duran.

 

Discordia es un hecho cotidiano. Siempre estoy hablando con los aficionados y medios de comunicación. Nuestra publicista nos mantiene bastante ocupado. Si no es eso, estoy siempre en correspondencia con Bobby Becca o la grabación o el trabajo sobre las disposiciones para el nuevo álbum.

 

¿Cómo fue su formación musical y vocal?

 

Mi padre es un guitarrista profesional y mi madre es una famosa cantante salvadoreña, que en realidad es de gira ahora mismo.

Estaba rodeado de música y músicos al crecer así que aprendí un poco aquí y allá sobre qué hacer y qué no hacer.

 

 

¿Cuáles son sus influencias en el Rock y Metal?

 

Tengo muchas influencias de cuando empecé hasta hoy. Me encanta todo tipo de música. Scorpions, Bon Jovi, Shakira, arco iris con Joe Lynn Turner, Def Leppard, Mana, Negro sábado. En lo que a metal, Epica, Opeth, Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, Teatro de la tragedia, The Birthday Massacre, horquilla de la inmundicia, nunca más, Kamelot. También me gusta la música clásica. Realmente en Mozart y Bach.

 

¿Cómo te uniste a la banda de Discordia?

 

De hecho, empecé a tocar el bajo porque no había otra cantante. Ella no funcionó, así que entré en epílogos.

 

¿Por qué este nombre de la banda 'Discordia'?

 

Es la mitología griega. Eris, la Diosa del caos y la discordia. Es femenina y con base funciona de maravilla.

 

¿Qué quiere decir oscuro metal sinfónico? ¿Cómo es esa composición?

 

Bobby y Becca naturalmente gravitan hacia la escritura de la música con una nota sombría y funciona bien con mi voz. Me encanta cantar la música más oscura en tonos menores. Becca es una maestra de música clásica y graba para películas y juegos de video, así que tiene esa cosa de mal humor abajo. Algunos de los nuevos arreglos sinfónicos y corales en el nuevo disco son bastante grandes. Estamos muy emocionados por ello. También estamos grabando 5 canciones en el EP porque Becca no estaba en él y sus nuevos arreglos y las puntuaciones son increíbles. No demasiado mencionar que el EP fue muy apresurado para que pudiéramos tener algo en el mercado cuando salíamos. Ninguno de nosotros está realmente contento con eso, pero sirve su propósito y ahora está fuera de impresión. Las versiones más recientes brillarán mucho más. Nuestro nuevo batería Elías es increíble y nos está permitiendo subir la apuesta y llevarlo un poco más lejos.

 

¿Actualmente tiene algún proyecto paralelo a la banda? ¿Otra banda o?

 

Sólo Duran Duran Duran. Estoy en negociaciones con algunas canciones como invitado para un par de otras bandas

 

¿Te gustaría hacer algún dúo con otra voz femenina o masculina vocal? ¿Con quién?

 

Becca es una cantante maravillosa y tendrá un dueto conmigo en 3 canciones. Bobby tiene un par de partes también. Cantamos el último verso del Príncipe de las Mentiras juntos. Johann Liiva (original vocalista de Arch Enemy) y su esposa Alexandra Adler ambos estarán cantando en el nuevo álbum, así

 

 

¿Qué nuevo material se prepara para el próximo año? Algunos avance!!

 

Como he dicho antes, estamos grabando las 5 canciones en el EP. Tenemos 6 o 7 nuevos también. Todavía estamos decidiendo sobre qué canciones para poner en el álbum. Tejiendo la locura y el legado de odio del EP son las 2 primeras partes de una serie de 4 canciones. Un mini concepto. Parte 3 es Príncipe de las Mentiras (que hemos estado tocando en vivo) y la parte 4 será una canción épica 13 -15 minutos para acabar con él. Probablemente vamos a añadir versiones de demostración de par de las nuevas canciones en nuestros sitios sólo para mantener nuestros fans interesados hasta que se lance el álbum real.

 

¿Habrá algún Tour en USA?

 

A partir de ahora, estamos pensando en un viaje en la Costa Este en el mes de julio. No hemos firmado aun, por lo que nuestra gira es limitada

 

¿Hay algo más que le gustaría compartir mi amigo con sus fans?

 

Me gustaría dar las gracias a todos nuestros fans. Siempre hacemos todo lo posible para comunicarnos y hablar con cada uno de ellos. Sería imposible hacer esto sin nuestros amigos y fans de todo el mundo. Espero que algún día podamos venir a tu ciudad y tocar para ti y tomar unas cervezas después.
