Cartagena is a Rock Symphonique band from Tunisie! With a great voice of Sherazade!  

 

Passionate about the audiovisual world, Sherazade took advantage of her opportunities at her young age: Advertising, Shooting Mode and she got involved in the game.

 

After graduating from the Baccalaureate, she joined the Higher Institute of Music in 2005.

In 2009 she won her first role in a television series "Njoum Ellil" and played the role of Myriam, then Nour in "Maktoub", and Shams in "Hkeyet Tounsia".

 

In 2012 she set up her box of communication and musical events and integrated the group of symphonic rock carthagena for the writing of an album.

 

Hello my friends! How are you?

 

Hello Darkzen! We’re extremely happy, We will soon release our new album Roma delenda est, it’s a concept album, a story of a Carthaginian warrior being told to his grand sons, based on some historical facts and carefully fictionalized by us. We’re really excited for when we’re releasing it.

 

¿Where are you  from friends?

 

You’ve guessed it! We’re from Tunisia, the city that rose up from the ashes of Carthage. Believe it or not the ruins still have scars from that distant old war, Carthage is still an important part of our wide identity.

Tunisia is a small place, and yet throughout the ages it has always been the intersection of a massively diverse cultures

fand lifestyles, it became a legacy. This is strongly reflected in our work, you can easily perceive the various ethnic influences in our songs.

 

¿Who are each of you?

 

We are five, I (Shérazade) am the singer, Ahmed and Seif are our guitarists, both talented, I like how they seamlessly play guitars together, it’s like they’re twins or something :). Mourad is our ingenious bass guitar player, he adds a lot of depth and tact to the beats, as a former lute player (a traditional oriental instrument) he plays bass like nobody does. Shams is the drummer, he adds a lot of strength to the sound he’s heavy as hell. We equally share responsibilities, and each of us is doing a great job making things seem to be easier. A lot of other people and guests contributed to the work, I just can’t list everyone, thought I thank everyone who lent hand when we needed.

 

¿How was the band formed?

 

The band has a long history, Seif and Mourad started it a decade ago for fun, like every band in a basement, they used to play covers and stuff. It began to grow spontaneously, and today the basement is a recording studio. Even though I joined the band lately I know that there have been some heartbreaking quits and farewells, thankfully it all went for the best, music brought us together and we are committed to it.

 

Sherazade Amous you have nice voice! ¿How did your musical career begin?

 

Thank you!! Art is my thing, I’ve always been fond of the classics, music especially. I learnt singing in an art school but never considered joining a professional band, until a friend of mine used the studio, I was with her helping with the recording, that’s where the guys and I met. At first I was surprised by the offer, I wasn’t waiting for it, then when I started thinking about it I got excited, I knew it was going to be an amazing experience and I couldn’t let it slip away.

 

¿How was your vocal training?

 

I learnt singing and acting in a local art school, Cartagena is my first experience as a professional singer. The music style is difficult to master, it is so complex and requires a frequent and vast change of tone and scale. Seif helped in the training process, the guy has a fine ear and it would have been impossible to achieve what I achieved without his help. We spent months practicing before the recording session, and I’m proud with the result.

 

Tell us about your new álbum ¿ How was the inspiration and production of this album?

 

Roma delenda est is a concept album, it started as a requirement, we had so many different musical influences and each had his own personal touch, we needed a storyline to carve the thing, and it was surrounding us all the time, Carthage had all we needed, diversity and consistency.

 

We started writing it, the characters, the war, the victory, the expansion, the loss and the wipeout. It all made sense, it was the opportunity to do what we do best, musical research and songwriting. We’ve even gone as far as traveling to foreign countries and visiting multiple cities to gather traditional instruments and learn the way they played music, we needed it to be as authentic as possible in order to bring that era’s spirit and charisma. Though it all had a cost, the more eager we were to release the album the more we had to wait until we’re ready.

 

¿Do you write some songs or all songs of your album?

 

We obviously write our own songs, It was a long and hard way to cross, the album production lasted for nearly five years, Seif and Ahmed started with a lot of nice ideas, some we kept, some we adapted and some we got rid of, the rest of the band got involved afterwards, it was a nice teamwork.

 

Apart of sounding good we had a storyline to follow, and it just made things harder. We wanted the listener to really feel how the narrator felt, visit the places the narrator went to and kind of live a movie like experience, this is why we carefully chose to dive more into the warrior's life, that way we could ensure a motion of feelings. We’re confident, we think we had it right.

 

¿What will be the musical style of your new album?

 

Short answer? Orchestral/Symphonic Rock, maybe… it features a lot of classic instruments, and epic moments, at the same time the use of a wide range of scales and modes from different cultures makes it hard to classify.

We’re kind of against the idea of giving a style to our music, music have no boundaries and segmenting it to genres is a weird practice.

 

¿Why Rock/Symphonic? ¿Do you like Symphonic Metal? For you what is the difference between both styles

 

We love good music no matter the style, despite the fact that the album features heavy, punchy guitars, fast drums and deep and loud bass like all metalheads like, and metal is always related to that kind of sound, the use of genuine classic instruments and traditional melodies somehow made it more gentle and easy on the ears. We try to avoid discouraging people that hate metal music for what it is, everybody have listened to rock at some point and we aim to unite both worlds.

 

¿There will be a new vídeo?

 

Sure, we are already working on it, we count on releasing it before the album, it will be kind of a foretaste for what’s coming. I don’t want to tell you more about it, I’ll just let you discover it by your own.

 

¿What surprises you have to this year with your band?

 

I can’t tell you but I still can tease you about it, we may have a project of a short movie, nothing’s confirmed. Still our main focus in the next couple months will be rehearsal and touring, we are also actively working on a more complete show experience, can’t tell more. On the other hand We’ll see what surprises do this year have for us. :)

 

¿There will be any tour in your country?

 

Things are already starting to move around here, people are starting to contact us. We are getting on stage next saturday with Persona, a local band, it will be the first time we play the album on stage, we are thrilled as hell about it. We do have a couple of other propositions here and there both in Tunisia and Europe, we’ll announce it when time is right.

 

¿Anything else you'd like to share my friend with us?

 

The album will soon be released, alongside some goodies, stay tuned for it will be a special one.

Fascinada por el mundo audiovisual, Sherezade se benefició de una edad temprana las oportunidades que se presentaban

Después de la Licenciatura, que integra el Instituto Superior de Música en 2005.

En 2009 obtuvo su primer papel en una telenovela "Njoum Ellil" y desempeña el papel de Myriam y Nour en el "Maktoub" y Shams, en "Hkeyet Tounsia", En 2012 creó su cuadro de la comunicación y eventos musicales e integra el grupo de rock Sinfónica de Cartagena para escribir un álbum.

 

¡Hola mis amigos! ¿Cómo están?

 

¡Hola Darkzen! Estamos muy contentos, pronto lanzaremos nuestro nuevo álbum ‘Roma delenda est’, es un álbum conceptual, una historia de un guerrero cartaginesa que se le dice a sus nietos, basada en algunos hechos históricos y cuidadosamente novelada por nosotros. Estamos muy emocionados cuando lo estamos lanzando.

 

¿De dónde son amigos?

 

¡Lo has adivinado! Somos de Túnez, la ciudad que surgió de las cenizas de Cartago. Créanlo o no las ruinas todavía tienen cicatrices de esa guerra distante vieja, Cartago sigue siendo una parte importante de nuestra identidad amplia.

 

Túnez es un lugar pequeño, y sin embargo a través de los siglos siempre ha sido la intersección de una masiva diversidad de culturas

 

Estilos de vida Fand, se convirtió en un legado. Esto se refleja fuertemente en nuestro trabajo, tú puedes percibir fácilmente las diversas influencias étnicas en nuestras canciones.

 

¿Quiénes son cada uno de ustedes?

 

Somos cinco, yo (Shérazade) soy la cantante, Ahmed y Seif son nuestros guitarristas, ambos con talento, me gusta cómo tocan sin problemas las guitarras juntos, es como si fueran gemelos o algo :). Mourad es nuestro ingenioso guitarrista, añade mucha profundidad y tacto a los ritmos, como ex-jugador de laúd (un instrumento oriental tradicional) toca el bajo como nadie lo hace. Shams es el baterista, agrega mucha fuerza al sonido que es pesado como el infierno. Igualmente compartimos responsabilidades, y cada uno de nosotros está haciendo un gran trabajo haciendo que las cosas parezcan más fáciles. Muchas otras personas e invitados contribuyeron al trabajo, no puedo enumerar a todos, pensé que agradezco a todos los que prestaron la mano cuando lo necesitábamos.

 

¿Cómo se formó la banda?

 

La banda tiene una larga historia, Seif y Mourad comenzó hace una década por diversión, como cada banda en un sótano, que solía tocar covers y cosas. Comenzó a crecer espontáneamente, y hoy en día el sótano es un estudio de grabación. A pesar de que me uní a la banda últimamente sé que ha habido algunos despedidas y despedidas desgarradoras, afortunadamente todo fue para lo mejor, la música nos reunió y estamos comprometidos con ella.

 

Sherazade Amous tienes bonita voz! ¿Cómo comenzó tu carrera musical?

 

¡¡Gracias!! El arte es lo mío, siempre me han gustado los clásicos, especialmente la música. Aprendí a cantar en una escuela de arte, pero nunca consideré unirme a una banda profesional, hasta que una amiga mía utilizó el estudio, yo estaba con ella ayudando con la grabación, ahí es donde los chicos y yo nos conocimos. Al principio me sorprendió la oferta, no estaba esperando, entonces cuando empecé a pensar en ello me emocioné, supe que iba a ser una experiencia increíble y no podía dejar escapar.

 

¿Cómo fue tu entrenamiento vocal?

 

Aprendí a cantar y actuar en una escuela de arte local, Cartagena es mi primera experiencia como cantante profesional. El estilo de la música es difícil de dominar, es tan complejo y requiere un cambio frecuente y vasto de tono y escala. Seif ayudó en el proceso de entrenamiento, el tipo tiene un oído fino y habría sido imposible lograr lo que logré sin su ayuda. Pasamos meses practicando antes de la sesión de grabación, y estoy orgullosa del resultado.

 

Cuéntanos sobre su nuevo álbum ¿Cómo fue la inspiración y producción de este álbum?

 

‘Roma delenda est’ es un álbum conceptual, comenzó como un requisito, teníamos tantas influencias musicales diferentes y cada uno tenía su propio toque personal, necesitábamos una historia para tallar las cosas, y estaba rodeándonos todo el tiempo, Carthage tenía todos Necesitábamos, diversidad y consistencia.

Empezamos a escribirlo, los personajes, la guerra, la victoria, la expansión, la pérdida y el borrón. Todo tenía sentido, era la oportunidad de hacer lo que mejor hacíamos, la investigación musical y la composición de canciones. Incluso hemos ido tan lejos como viajar a países extranjeros y visitar varias ciudades para reunir instrumentos tradicionales y aprender la forma en que tocaban música, necesitábamos que fuera lo más auténtico posible para llevar el espíritu y el carisma de esa época. Aunque todo tenía un costo, cuanto más ansiosos fuéramos de lanzar el álbum, más teníamos que esperar hasta que estuviéramos listos.

 

¿Escribes algunas canciones o todas las canciones de tu álbum?

 

Es obvio que escribimos nuestras propias canciones, Fue una manera larga y difícil de cruzar, la producción del álbum duró casi cinco años, Seif y Ahmed empezaron con un montón de buenas ideas, algunas guardamos, algunas adaptamos y algunas nos deshacemos, El resto de la banda se involucró después, fue un buen trabajo en equipo.

Aparte de sonar bien tuvimos una historia que seguir, y sólo hizo las cosas más difíciles. Queríamos que el oyente sintiera realmente cómo sentía el narrador, visitaba los lugares a los que el narrador se dirigía y tipo de vivir una película como experiencia, por eso escogimos cuidadosamente a sumergirnos más en la vida del guerrero, de esa manera podríamos asegurar un movimiento de sentimientos. Estamos seguros, pensamos que lo teníamos bien.

 

¿Cuál será el estilo musical de tu nuevo álbum?

 

¿Respuesta corta? Orchestral / Symphonic Rock, tal vez... cuenta con una gran cantidad de instrumentos clásicos, y momentos épicos, al mismo tiempo el uso de una amplia gama de escalas y modos de diferentes culturas hace que sea difícil de clasificar.

Estamos en contra de la idea de dar un estilo a nuestra música, la música no tiene fronteras y la segmentación de los géneros es una práctica rara.

 

¿Por qué Rock / Symphonic? ¿Te gusta Metal Sinfónico? Para ti ¿cuál es la diferencia entre ambos estilos?

 

Nos encanta la buena música no importa el estilo, a pesar de que el álbum cuenta con guitarras pesadas y con garra, batería rápida y profunda, graves profundos y fuertes como todos los metaleros, y el metal está siempre relacionado con ese tipo de sonido, el uso de instrumentos clásicos genuinos Y las melodías tradicionales de alguna manera lo hacían más suave y fácil en las orejas. Tratamos de evitar desalentar a las personas que odian la música de metal por lo que es, todo el mundo ha escuchado rock en algún momento y nuestro objetivo es unir ambos mundos.

 

¿Habrá un nuevo video?

 

Claro, ya estamos trabajando en ello, contamos con lanzarlo antes del álbum, será una especie de anticipo de lo que viene. No quiero contarte más sobre esto, solo te dejaré descubrirlo por tu cuenta.

 

¿Qué sorpresas tienen este año con su banda?

 

No puedo decirte, pero todavía puedo molestarte, podemos tener un proyecto de una película corta, nada está confirmado. Sin embargo, nuestro enfoque principal en los próximos dos meses será el ensayo y la gira, también estamos trabajando activamente en una experiencia de espectáculo más completa, no puedo decir más. Por otro lado, veremos qué sorpresas tiene este año para nosotros.  J

 

 

 

¿Habrá alguna gira en su país?

 

Las cosas ya están empezando a moverse por aquí, la gente empieza a ponerse en contacto con nosotros. Estamos llegando al escenario el próximo sábado con Persona, una banda local, será la primera vez que toquemos el álbum en el escenario, estamos muy emocionados por ello. Tenemos un par de otras propuestas aquí y allá tanto en Túnez como en Europa, lo anunciaremos cuando llegue el momento.

 

¿Alguna otra cosa que le gustaría compartir con nosotros?

 

El álbum pronto será lanzado, junto con algunas golosinas, permanezcan atentos para él será especial.
