Mariana started singing when she was 16 years old, totally inspired by Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation. In 2005, she began studying classical singing with Eugenia Sutti, an Italian teacher, and at the same time had her first metal band, Arcane Path, which remains her pride.
After Arcane Path split up, he had other bands and other personal projects where he sang, wrote lyrics and voice lines. One of them was the English band, Apparition, with whom he performed at the Femme Metal Fest 2011 in Birmingham, England.
I also work as an independent studio singer, and has sung with some renowned artists such as Andrew Lewis Hunter and War Kabbinet. In different choirs he has had different roles as a soloist. He is currently a vocalist for the Mexican hard rock band She No More and studies singing with Ross Valladolid.

How are you? Tell us a little about yourself Mariana!

Very well thanks. Very happy to be in this interview.
Are your musical influences?
Mariana
I have several musical influences, the one that has most marked my life has been the symphonic metal such as Within Temptation, After Forever, Nightwish and Tristania. But I also like other subgenres of metal, rock and a lot of opera. I even have my guilty tastes of pop.
What and how was your vocal training? What voice range do you have?
Mariana
I started studying classical singing, like a light lyric soprano. At that time I did not sing anything other than in that style. A short time ago I started exploring new techniques and new styles in my voice. My record goes from Ab4 to B6.
Tell us about your band ‘She no more’, because the name?
Mariana
The band started calling herself She Wolf, of that group the only member that remained was Crash Ramírez (lead guitarist), who invited me to sing on this project in March 2018. From this moment on several musicians entered and left the band and the name was changed to She No More, this arose in a pun, as there is already a band that has the name 'She Wolf' we had to change it, we wanted to continue identifying as a pack of wolves but we wanted to remove the 'She', That's how She No More emerged. With the passage of time, the name was taking on another meaning, since somehow the letters were focusing on a transformation process, referring to a person who recreates after living certain experiences. I personally mean that I am now a much braver, wiser, more complete woman. And well, in January 2019 Jesus Loera entered the drums, and finally in May and June the Parra brothers, Eddie on the bass and Isra joined the rhythm guitar.
Why Hard Rock and not Symphonic Metal?
Mariana
We want She No More to conquer younger ears too. We want to make music that can attract these new generations to music that really leaves them something, since part of our proposal is to be an activist band. Many of our lyrics touch on issues such as gender violence, climate change, wars, although we also have a few lack of love.
Would you like to mix another musical genre as darker or heavier if so, which one would you avoid and why?
Mariana
In fact, if we mix other genres, we are not pure hard rock. Since the symphonic metal is influenced by two of us and our producer, Rick Loera, of course we mix symphonic elements, as in Broken Wings we have operatic choirs. Or we have darker elements like in She Wolf. We also have elements of glam, grunge and even electro, as in Dried Up and Line of Fire.
What musical proposal do you present with this Hard Rock? Something different? What surprises does She no more have?
Mariana
I think we have managed to mix our influences in such a way that we can offer a new sound. Next month we will release our first EP, called Run Away, as our first single that has been on Spotify since March of this year. The EP consists of 6 songs. We are currently on a mini tour called Rock Hard and Prog Tour, along with In Lak ’Ech, Meliora and Zenn and we are making our material known. We have good proposals for what is missing this year and for the next one we will announce soon.
Who writes the letters? If it's you, how do you get inspired?
Mariana
The lyrics are written by me or co-authored with Rick Loera, our producer, or with Crash the guitarist. I was inspired above all by the things that move my heart. Some are personal issues, heartbreak, stories of people important to me, but as I mentioned, more than half are focused on creating social or environmental change.
Tell us about the production of your EP? What does each song reflect for you?
Mariana
The production is already finished and right now it is in the process of maquila, which makes us very happy and excited, since the EP will be ready in the first half of August and you can also listen to it in digital media.
Line of Fire:
I wrote this song with Rick Loera. We wrote it just when a lot of forest fires were generated in Mexico. The song speaks totally about making a change because we are ending the planet. All my life I have been very worried about nature and the species that cohabit our planet, so Line of Fire was how I expressed my concern.
Run Away:
I also co-wrote this song with Rick Loera. It is a very personal song but at the same time I want it to help other women who are going through the same thing that I experienced. I was a victim of a relationship of violence and what brought me out of that relationship, in addition to my family and friends who supported me unconditionally, was to find my own love, find my inner light and remember that I have dreams for which I must continue fighting. In the end I think that Run Away is left to anyone who has been left behind, who has forgotten to follow their dreams for living in the routine, for living in mediocre or toxic relationships, for not doing what you are passionate about.
Dried Up:
this song is very special for me. The lyrics are totally mine, but the melody of the voice was written by Malin Nyberg, my soul sister who lives in Sweden. She was very present in a process of my life that was very difficult for me and was a very nice way to accompany me in those moments, so I felt sheltered and protected. The lyrics speak of heartbreak, infidelity and resigning oneself to the fact that a relationship has ended, but not before saying that you gave everything, that you leave in peace.
She Wolf:
The lyrics of this song are written by Crash and me. He lives up to the previous name of the band, but speaks of a woman who despite having experienced painful experiences such as heartbreak, betrayal or abandonment, she stood up with dignity and moved forward. This song is dedicated to the brave women who have decided to get up in any situation.
I’m Now Gone:
Rick and I wrote this song for a friend of mine that I adore, is another sister to me and we went through a very similar situation. It was my way of expressing what she felt in a song to cheer her up and inspire her as she inspired me at some point.
Broken Wings:
I also co-wrote it with Rick. Talk about another topic that hurts me a lot that are children who suffer violence of some kind, especially in war. Little boys who lose their innocence for having to live terrible things, they lose the only thing they have, their families, their homes, their dreams. Children should be happy and fill the world with smiles, instead, as the lyrics say, they are filling our world with their tears.

Tell us about your first video clip "I'm Now Gone"?

We recorded the video on Ohana Records and it was produced by Fer Olguin, a very good friend of ours who has already helped us with photos of the band and we will surely continue working together. The idea was to make a video in a rehearsal room but that was very dynamic, and that people were knowing the faces of She No More.

Mariana
I think there are great vocalists. I have a hard time focusing on just one, but I will tell you my favorites, who have touched my deepest fibers or who have inspired me to be what I am.

Female: Floor Jansen, Sharon den Adel, Cristina Scabbia, Beth Hart and Ross Valladolid.
What can we expect from Mariana for this year? Tours, concerts ...

At the moment we will continue with the Rock Hard and Prog Tour and I hope to be able to give you more details of the upcoming concerts, but I will definitely not be still, so I invite you to stay pending on our social networks.
Will there be any new videos of your EP? If so for when a preview! ;)

The next one will be Run Away, but we still don't have an exact release date, since it will be a much more produced video and will be in charge of Alex Z. Reynaud.

Mariana comenzó a cantar cuando tenía 16 años, totalmente inspirada en Sharon den Adel de Within Temptation. En 2005, comenzó a estudiar canto clásico con Eugenia Sutti, una profesora italiana, y al mismo tiempo tuvo su primera banda de metal, Arcane Path, que sigue siendo su orgullo.
Después de que Arcane Path se dividió, tuvo otras bandas y otros proyectos personales donde cantó, escribió letras y líneas de voz. Uno de ellos fue la banda inglesa, Apparition, con quienes se presentó en el Femme Metal Fest 2011 en Birmingham, Inglaterra.
También trabajo como cantante de estudio independiente, y ha cantado con algunos artistas reconocidos como Andrew Lewis Hunter y War Kabbinet. En diferentes coros ha tenido diferentes papeles como solista. Actualmente es vocalista de la banda de hard rock mexicano She No More y estudia canto con Ross Valladolid.

¿Cómo has estado? ¡Cuéntanos un poco de ti Mariana!
Muy bien, gracias. Muy feliz por estar en este entrevista.
¿Tus influencias musicales son?
Mariana
Tengo diversas influencias musicales, la que más ha marcado mi vida ha sido el metal sinfónico como Within Temptation, After Forever, Nightwish y Tristania. Pero también me gustan mucho otros subgéneros del metal, del rock y mucha ópera. Incluso tengo mis gustos culposos del pop.
¿Cuál y como fue tu entrenamiento vocal? Que rango de voz tienes?
Mariana
Yo inicié estudiando canto clásico, como una soprano lírico ligero. En esos tiempos no cantaba nada más que no fuera en ese estilo. Hace poco tiempo comencé a explorar nuevas técnicas y nuevos estilos en mi voz. Mi registro va de Ab4 a B6.
¿Cuéntanos sobre tu banda ‘She no more’, porque el nombre?
Mariana
La banda inició llamándose She Wolf, de aquella agrupación el único integrante que permaneció fue Crash Ramírez (guitarrista líder), quien me invitó a cantar en este proyecto en marzo de 2018. A partir de este momento varios músicos entraron y salieron de la banda y se cambió el nombre a She No More, esto surgió en un juego de palabras, como ya existe una banda que tiene el nombre ‘She Wolf” debíamos cambiarlo, nos queríamos seguir identificando como una manada de lobos pero queríamos quitar el ‘She’, así es comos surgió She No More. Con el paso del tiempo, el nombre fue tomando otro sentido, ya que de alguna manera las letras fueron enfocándose a un proceso de transformación, refiriéndose a una persona que se recrea tras vivir ciertas experiencias. Personalmente me refiero a que ahora soy una mujer mucho más valiente, más sabia, más completa. Y bueno, en enero de 2019 entró Jesús Loera en la batería, y finalmente en mayo y junio se incorporaron los hermanos Parra, Eddie en el bajo e Isra en la guitarra rítmica.
¿Por qué Hard Rock y no Metal Sinfónico?
Mariana
Queremos que She No More conquiste oídos más jóvenes también. Queremos hacer música que pueda atraer a estas nuevas generaciones a música que realmente les deje algo, ya que parte de nuestra propuesta es ser una banda activista. Muchas de nuestras letras tocan temas como la violencia de género, el cambio climático, las guerras, aunque también tenemos unas cuantas de desamor.
¿Te gustaría mezclar otro género musical como más oscuro o pesado si es así por cual te avocarías y porque?
Mariana
De hecho sí mezclamos otros géneros, no somos hard rock puro. Ya que el metal sinfónico es influencia de dos de nosotros y de nuestro productor, Rick Loera, por supuesto mezclamos elementos del sinfónico, como en Broken Wings que tenemos coros operísticos. O tenemos elementos más oscuros como en She Wolf. También tenemos elementos del glam, del grunge y hasta electro, como en Dried Up y Line of Fire.
¿Qué propuesta musical nos presentas con este Hard Rock? Algo diferente? Que sorpresas tiene She no more?
Mariana
Creo que hemos logrado mezclar nuestras influencias de tal manera que podemos ofrecer un sonido nuevo. El próximo mes lanzaremos nuestro primer EP, de nombre Run Away, como nuestro primer sencillo que está en Spotify desde marzo de este año. El EP consta de 6 canciones. Actualmente estamos en una mini gira llamada Rock Hard and Prog Tour, junto con In Lak’ Ech, Meliora y Zenn y estamos dando a conocer nuestro material. Tenemos buenas propuestas para lo que falta de este año y para el próximo que daremos a conocer pronto.
¿Quién escribe las letras? Si eres tu como te inspiras?
Mariana
Las letras las escribo yo o en coautoría con Rick Loera, nuestro productor, o con Crash el guitarrista. Yo me inspiro sobretodo en las cosas que me mueven el corazón. Algunas son temas personales, desamores, historias de gente importante para mí, pero como ya te mencionaba, más de la mitad están enfocadas en crear un cambio social o ambiental.
¿Cuéntanos sobre la producción de tu EP? Que refleja cada canción para ti?
Mariana
La producción ya está terminada y ahorita está ya en proceso de maquila, lo que nos tiene muy felices y emocionados, ya que el EP estará listo en la primera quincena de agosto y también podrán escucharlo en medios digitales.
Line of Fire:
Esta canción la coescribí con Rick Loera. La escribimos justo cuando se generaron muchísimos incendios forestales en México. La canción habla totalmente sobre hacer un cambio pues estamos acabando con el planeta. Toda mi vida he estado muy preocupada por la naturaleza y las especies que cohabitan nuestro planeta, por lo que Line of Fire fue como plasmé mi preocupación.
Run Away:
Esta canción también la coescribí con Rick Loera. Es una canción muy personal pero que a la vez quiero que sirva de ayuda para otras mujeres que estén pasando por lo mismo que yo viví. Yo fui víctima de una relación de violencia y lo que me sacó de esa relación, además de mi familia y amigos que me apoyaron incondicionalmente, fue encontrar mi amor propio, encontrar mi luz interior y recordar que tengo sueños por los cuales debo seguir luchando. Al final creo que Run Away le queda a cualquier persona que se ha dejado a un lado, que ha olvidado seguir sus sueños por vivir en la rutina, por vivir en relaciones mediocres o tóxicas, por no hacer lo que te apasiona.
Dried Up:
Esta canción es muy especial para mí. La letra es totalmente mía, pero la melodía de la voz la escribió Malin Nyberg, mi hermana del alma que vive en Suecia. Ella estuvo muy presente en un proceso de mi vida que fue muy difícil para mí y fue una forma muy linda de acompañarme en esos momentos, así me sentí cobijada y protegida. La letra habla de desamor, infidelidad y el resignarse a que una relación se ha terminado, no sin antes decir que lo diste todo, que te vas en paz.
She Wolf:
La letra de esta canción la escribimos Crash y yo. Le hace honor al nombre anterior de la banda, pero habla de una mujer que a pesar de haber vivido experiencias dolorosas como el desamor, la traición o el abandono, ella se levantó dignamente y salió adelante. Esta canción la dedicamos a las mujeres valientes que han decidido levantarse ante cualquier situación.
I’m Now Gone:
Esta canción la escribimos Rick y yo para una amiga mía que adoro, es otra hermana para mí y que pasamos por una situación muy similar. Fue mi manera de plasmar lo que ella sentía en una canción para animarla e insipirarla como ella me inspiró en algún momento.
Broken Wings:
También la coescribí con Rick. Habla sobre otro tema que a mí me duele muchísimo que son los niños que sufren violencia de algún tipo, sobre todo en la guerra. Chiquitos que pierden su inocencia por tener que vivir cosas terribles, que pierden lo único que tienen, sus familias, sus casas, sus sueños. Los niños deben ser felices y llenar el mundo de sonrisas, en cambio, como la letra lo dice, están llenando nuestro mundo de sus lágrimas.

¿Cuéntanos sobre tu primer videoclip "I'm Now Gone"?

El video lo grabamos en Ohana Records y lo produjo Fer Olguin, un muy amigo nuestro que ya nos ha ayudado con fotos de la banda y seguramente seguiremos trabajando juntos. La idea era hacer un video en una sala de ensayo pero que fuera muy dinámico, y que la gente fuera conociendo las caras de She No More.
¿Vocalista Masculino y Femenino que te guste?
Mariana
Creo que existen grandes vocalistas. Me cuesta mucho trabajo enfocarme en uno solo, pero te diré mis favoritos, quienes han tocado mis fibras más profundas o quienes me han inspirado a ser lo que soy.
