Official Bio

 

Depressed Mode was established in 2005 by composer Otto Salonen. Signed a contract with Firebox Records for two albums in 2006. First album “Ghosts Of Devotion” was released in 2007, and received really good reviews throughout the media.

​

The second album “For Death” released in 2009, was a success, and a step towards more symphonic death/doom metal, with great reviews as well. Otto Salonen begun composing DM’s third album in January 2020. The lineup for the new album consists of Otto Salonen, Teemu Heinola, Henri Hakala and Iiro Aittokoski.

​

Veronica Bordacchini from Fleshgod Apocalypse took over the female vocals for the third album. The album was recorded and mixed at Ansa Studio by Teemu Heinola and Otto Salonen during 2021. In autumn 2021 Depressed Mode signed a deal with Inverse Records for the third album.

​

An atmospheric and instrumental start, with that scary and dark style, those cool gutturals! Brutal death metal! Dense, symphonic, combining clean voices, heavy chords and a dramatic context.

Endless November

​

Totally slow, extensive tempos, long and extended vocal register, a good quality of totally devastating doom metal, female voices in choir with drama and softness.

​

Dissociation of the Extinguished Mind

​

Returning with more energy, speed and rhythm, chords in the first instance enhancing the symphonic part, interesting riffs, totally powerful guttural voices very clearly when listening to it.

​

As the Light Dims

​

Elegant musical beginning, a gloomy and melancholy piano, with a sublime symphonic passage, dense and heavy chords slowly become present with long tempos within a depressing atmosphere accompanied by short clean female choirs and clean voices as well.

Parasites of Mind

​

A symphonic and slightly cinematic musical start, dramatic and heavy, with a beastly double drum pedal and powerful chords with tempo changes, fast to slow, the guttural voice gives it a perfect heaviness!

​

Kaamos (Land of Winter)

​

Heavy chords, with forcefulness, challenging and defiant style in this song combining guttural and clean voices, intermediate tempos and a slightly more melodic song, with a very Nordic folk atmosphere with that combination of doom.

​

Serpents

​

We have a very symphonic beginning, making the appearance of chords with combined drum rhythms that mark the line and the musical step, the tempos become slow with clean and guttural voices with each voice's appearance time.

​

Eternal Darkness

​

Excellent musical start, shocking with a brutal guttural accompanied by the symphonic parts heightened with tempos, greater heaviness and speed, a harmonic song and preserving the melodic sequences with a wide variety of voices.

​

Aeternus

​

Closing with a broadly symphonic song, longer than 12 minutes with that characteristic harmonic, melancholic and terrifying darkness of doom/death metal with a good combination of styles!

My Recomendation

​

Decade Of Silence is a great album full of melodic symphony, with intermediate, slow and fast tempos full of death/doom metal where the chords and drums have enough detail, heaviness and forcefulness, it has severity, elegance and melancholy, it has high moments and depressive, strong and terrifying! From the beginning of the album like Death Walks Among Us, with a great overture that makes your skin crawl, there are heavy and long songs accompanied by choirs, pure female choirs, clean and guttural voices! With a lot of presence, as well as unique death metal passages in some of the songs, for lovers of this style and fans like Flesh God Apocalypse, Septic Flesh among others this album is a great job!

Bio Oficial

 

Depressed Mode fue establecido en 2005 por el compositor Otto Salonen. Firmó un contrato con Firebox Records para dos álbumes en 2006. El primer álbum "Ghosts Of Devotion" fue lanzado en 2007 y recibió muy buenas críticas en los medios.

​

El segundo álbum “.For Death” lanzado en 2009, fue un éxito y un paso hacia un death/doom metal más sinfónico, con excelentes críticas también. Otto Salonen comenzó a componer el tercer álbum de DM en enero de 2020. La alineación para el nuevo álbum está compuesta por Otto Salonen, Teemu Heinola, Henri Hakala e Iiro Aittokoski.

​

Veronica Bordacchini de Fleshgod Apocalypse se hizo cargo de la voz femenina para el tercer álbum. El álbum fue grabado y mezclado en Ansa Studio por Teemu Heinola y Otto Salonen durante 2021. En otoño de 2021, Depressed Mode firmó un contrato con Inverse Records para el tercer álbum.

Un inicio atmosférico e instrumental, con ese estilo aterrador y oscuro, esos guturales geniales! Un death metal brutal! Denso, sinfónico, combinando voces limpias, acordes pesados y con un contexto dramático.

​

Totalmente tempos lentos, extensos, registro vocal largo y extendido, una buena calidad de doom metal totalmente devastador, voces femeninas en coro con dramatismo y suavidad.

Volviendo con más energía, velocidad y ritmo, acordes en primera instancia potenciando la parte sinfónica, riffs interesantes, voces guturales totalmente potentes con mucha claridad al escucharlo.

Elegante inicio musical, un piano lúgubre y melancólico, con un pasaje sinfónico sublime, acordes densos y pesados se hacen presentes lentamente con tempos largos dentro de un ambiente deprimente acompañado de coros limpios femeninos breves y voces limpias también.

​

​

Un inicio musical sinfónico y un poco cinematográfico, dramático y pesado, con un doble pedal bestial de batería y acordes potentes con cambios de tempos, rápidos a lentos, la voz gutural le da una pesadez perfecta!

​

Acordes pesados, con contundencia, estilo retador y desafiante en esta canción combinando las voces guturales y limpias, tempos intermedios y una canción un poco más melódica, con una atmósfera muy nórdica folk con esa combinación de doom.

​

Tenemos un inicio muy sinfónico, haciendo aparición de acordes con ritmos combinados de batería que marcan la línea y el paso musical, los tempos se vuelven lentos con voces limpias y guturales con su tiempo de aparición cada voz.

Eternal Darkness

​

Excelente inicio musical, estremecedor con un brutal gutural acompañado de las partes sinfónicas enaltecidas con tempos, mayor pesadez y velocidad, una canción armónica y conservando las secuencias melódicas con amplia variedad de voces.

Aeternus

​

Cerrando con una canción ampliamente sinfónica, de mayor duración de 12 minutos con esa   oscuridad característica, armónica, melancólica y aterradora de doom/death metal con buena combinación de estilos!

Mi Recomendación

​

Decade Of Silence es un gran albúm lleno de sinfónica melódica, con tempos intermedios, lentos y rápidos llenos de death/doom metal en donde los acordes y batería tienen bastante detalle, pesadez y contundencia, tiene severidad, elegancia y melancolía, tiene momentos álgidos y depresivos, fuertes y aterradores! Desde el inicio del albúm como lo es Death Walks Among Us, con una gran obertura que te eriza la piel, hay canciones pesadas y extensas acompañadas de coros, coros femeninos puros, voces limpias y guturales! Con mucha presencia, así como pasajes de death metal únicas en algunas de las canciones, para los amantes de este estilo y fans como de Flesh God Apocalipsis, Septic Flesh entre otros este albúm es un gran trabajo!
