Volturian is a new Modern Metal project founded by singer Federica Lanna (Sleeping Romance) and songwriter Federico Mondelli (Frozen Crown). Drawing heavy inspiration from 90’s and early 2000 Metal as well as 80’s Pop music, the talented frontwoman and the prolific composer join forces, creating a unique brand of melody and heaviness mixed with strong electronic elements.

Lanna’s ethereal and mellow vocals flow graciously between catchy choruses and breathtaking verses, contrasting with Mondelli’s Swedish Death Metal inspired guitar riffs, this time putting more emphasis on groove. The sound that derives from it could be reminiscent of a mixture between Evanescence and ‘Reroute To Remain’-era In Flames.

Volturian’s lineup is completed by Frozen Crown’s drummer Alberto Mezzanotte and bass player Massimiliano Rossi.

​

Each ‘Red Dragon’ song displays a very contemporary sound, intriguing arrangements and charming sonic dynamics – not to mention the always masterful Federico Mondelli trademark songwriting.

Excellent start and beginning of the album, melodic, harmonic, rhythmic parts with that line of guitars and with the beautiful voice of Federica Lanna!

A little heavier sound and with some darkness! Melodic and soft sounds in a tempo, light drums, but the guitars as the spearhead.

We have a musical beginning with that modern electronic style with a base in the chords that Federica's voice makes stand out! Melodic and soft sounds.

 

Torn Asunder

 

Electro Pop and/or Dance sounds and rhythms from that golden era of Eurodance! With those very remarkable keyboards in that electronic style, with a somewhat melancholic atmosphere and in the beautiful voice of Federica.

 

Burn It Up

 

Starting with the slightly denser guitar line and that remarkable bass line, a melancholy Gothic atmosphere and rhythm mixing with light, slow tempos and sweet rhythms, reminding us of We are the Fallen!

 

Distant Caress

 

A very electric, sublime and dark ambient beginning, an atmosphere that continues like this with nostalgia, melancholy and emotional sadness, with a soft cut and the subtle voice of Federica in great company.

 

Bury Me

 

We have sounds and melody with a romantic and dark base with that more Gothic direction, the chords are made to sound which gives it a little more heaviness, a set of keyboards and rhythms with a bit of Metal.

Making presence of the line of guitars and drums together! Opening in a harder way, with that remarkable Gothic touch, the Metal lines have more presence, the theme is melancholic and dark.

My Recomendation

​

Volturian leaves us an interesting Red Dragon with a leap towards a style richer in pop elements, Dance from that super era of the 90s, electronic keyboards and with few elements of Modern Metal, making the songs and style much more accessible for all audiences. , have electronic elements throughout the album mixing with the soft and subtle voice of Federica Lanna! The line of guitars when it is present is harmonic, soft, melodic and brief, at times heavy and in a single rhythm by Federico, and also with settings with gothic, dark, melancholic but melodic atmospheres! A small comparison can be made with We are the Fallen band! Showing an aesthetic, sounds, modern elegant rhythms, really an album with varied sounds that will catch you with the first songs!

Volturian es un nuevo proyecto de Metal Moderno fundado por la cantante Federica Lanna (Sleeping Romance) y el compositor Federico Mondelli (Frozen Crown). Inspirándose fuertemente en el metal de los 90 y principios del 2000, así como en la música pop de los 80, la talentosa líder y la prolífica compositora unen fuerzas, creando una marca única de melodía y pesadez mezclada con fuertes elementos electrónicos.

​

La voz etérea y suave de Lanna fluye con gracia entre estribillos pegadizos y versos impresionantes, contrastando con los riffs de guitarra inspirados en el Death Metal sueco de Mondelli, esta vez poniendo más énfasis en el ritmo. El sonido que se deriva de él podría recordar a una mezcla entre Evanescence y la era In Flames de 'Reroute To Remain'.

​

La formación de Volturian se completa con el baterista de Frozen Crown, Alberto Mezzanotte, y el bajista Massimiliano Rossi.

​

Cada canción de 'Red Dragon' muestra un sonido muy contemporáneo, arreglos intrigantes y una dinámica sonora encantadora, sin mencionar la siempre magistral composición característica de Federico Mondelli.

Un inicio moderno acompañado de teclados con mucho efecto electrónico con una buena atmosfera musical pop modern.

 

Stay

 

Excelente inicio y comenzando el albúm, melódico, partes armónicas, rítmicas con esa línea de guitarras y con la bella voz de Federica Lanna!

 

Harley

 

Un sonido un poco mas pesado y con algo de oscuridad! Sonidos Melódicos y suaves en un tempo, la batería ligera, pero las guitarras como punta de lanza.

 

Empty World

 

Tenemos un inicio musical con ese estilo electrónico moderno con una base en los acordes que la voz de Federica hace resaltar! Sonidos Melódicos y suaves.

 

Torn Asunder

 

Sonidos y ritmos electro Pop y/o Dance de aquella época dorada del Eurodance! Con esos teclados muy notables en ese estilo electrónico, con una atmosfera algo melancólica y en la bella voz de Federica. 

 

Burn It Up

 

Arrancando con la línea de guitarras un poco más densas y esa línea de bajo notable, un ambiente y ritmo Gótico, melancólico mezclándose con tempos ligeros, lentos y ritmos dulces, recordándonos a We are the Fallen!

 

Distant Caress

 

Un inicio muy ambiental eléctrico, sublime y oscuro, ambiente que continua así con una nostalgia, melancolía y emotiva tristeza, con corte suave y la sutil voz de Federica en gran compañía.

 

Bury Me

 

Tenemos sonidos y melodía con una base romántica y oscura con esa dirección más Gótica, los acordes se hacen sonar lo que le imprime un poco más de pesadez, juego de teclados y ritmos con un poco de Metal.

 

Freeze

 

Haciendo presencia la línea de guitarras y batería en conjunto! Abriendo de manera más dura, con ese toque Gótico notable, las líneas de Metal tienen mayor presencia, el tema es melancólico y oscuro.

 

Descent

 

Cerrando de manera electrónica, rítmica, con ambientaciones modernas y con un cierto toque de Dance.

 

Mi Recomendación

Volturian nos deja un Red Dragón interesante con un salto hacia un estilo más rico en elementos pop, Dance de aquella súper época de los 90, teclados electrónicos y con pocos elementos de Modern Metal, haciendo mucho más accesible las canciones y el estilo para todo público, tienen elementos electrónicos en todo el albúm mezclándose con la voz suave y sutil de Federica Lanna! La línea de guitarras cuando hace presencia es armónica, suave, melódica y breve, por momentos pesada y en un solo ritmo de Federico, y también con ambientaciones con atmósferas góticas, oscuras, melancólicas pero melódicas! Se puede hacer una pequeña comparación con We are the Fallen band! Mostrando una estética, sonidos, ritmos elegantes modernos, realmente un albúm con sonidos variados que te atraparan con las primeras canciones!
