Averlanche is a Helsinki-based melodic metal band, founded in 2017. Averlanche combines catchy melodies with beautiful female vocals. Their sound is influenced by Finnish heavy metal music from the 90's and early 2000's.
German vocalist Rebecca Spörl moved to Finland in 2014 to start a metal band. In early 2017, she found an announcement that a band was looking for a singer and travelled 170 km from Turku to Helsinki to audition. She got the job as a singer and Averlanche's line-up was complete. At that time Averlanche was Rebecca Spörl (vocals), Antti Kopra (keyboards), Otto Haalahti (guitar), Joonas Hämäläinen (bass) and Antti Pätsi (drums).
Averlanche released their first demo EP The Machinery of Life in fall 2018. In 2019 it was time to record their first full-length studio album. The band contacted producer Hiili Hiilesmaa, who has been working with bands like HIM, Moonsorrow and Sentenced. In September 2019, the band recorded their debut album Life’s Phenomenon at Studio Watercastle with Arttu Sarvanne. The album was released 6th of November 2020.
In the beginning of 2021 drummer Antti Pätsi left the band and Henri Tenhunen, a friend of the band, took over as the new drummer. While practicing new songs during the year 2021, the bassist Joonas Hämäläinen left the band.
Averlanche is currently recording their new album which will be released in early 2023. First singles "In the Theater of Fire" and "Killing Floor" have already been released. Averlanche signed record label deal with JVR Music Group Oy in autumn 2022. New album "Arctic Atlas" will be released in the spring 2023.

How have you been? Welcome!
Rebecca:
Thank you! I’ve been well. Working on the new album, recording and filming music videos is stressful of course, but a lot of fun! I have enjoyed every second of it.
Tell us a little about you! Your Hobbies! Do you have any in particular in this moment?
Rebecca:
With work and the album coming up, there hasn’t been much time for hobbies. I’m mostly reading fantasy books or playing video games in my free time. Hogwarts Legacy is keeping me busy, while I’m more or less patiently waiting for Diablo IV to come out!
Do you have any other band, musical project?
Rebecca:
Not at the moment. I’m always open to collaborations with other musicians though!
What musical influences do you have at the moment? Did these musical tastes influence the production of a new album?
Rebecca:
I don’t think there have been influences specifically for this album, but of course everything I listen to influences me and my singing more or less. My biggest influence will forever be Amy Lee from Evanescence. If it wasn’t for her, I would not be a singer today! At the moment I have been listening to some really heavy stuff, stuff that I would definitely not be able to sing, because it’s mostly screaming :D however, there are a few songs on the album that are definitely on the heavier side, compared to our older songs. They are written by Antti Kopra though, so it didn’t really have to do with what I am listening to!
Tell us about your new single Little Lotus for those who haven't heard it?
Rebecca:
Little Lotus is very different from what we have done before. It’s a ballad, but it’s heavy. It’s beautiful and dark. I fell in love with it immediately the first time Antti showed it to me. Vin Valentino (Framenoir Productions) has done an excellent job with the video. It was sooo cold in the forest in minimal clothing and -12 degrees, but it was definitely worth it. You should check it out!
Your single Little Lotus has an excellent atmosphere, sublime! It seems very alternative, full of chords and above all your beautiful voice gives it even more that soft and melancholic touch, will this be the essence and style of your album?
Rebecca:
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it. It’s actually really hard to describe the style of our new album. In our first album the songs were pretty similar to each other in their sound. The upcoming album will be so much more diverse. ”Arctic Atlas” will include our heaviest song so far, but also one of the most touching ballads Antti has ever written. Every song takes you to a different place, but it is all connected - and it all sounds like Averlanche!
What other musical styles or influences will your new album have? Any surprise?
Rebecca:
As I shortly mentioned above, it will be more on the heavier side and every song will have different styles and influences. There will also be a guest musician in the ballad I was talking about!
Will you record another video of your next album?
Rebecca:
Yes, there will be one more single release along with another video, after that we will drop the album. You should expect the video towards the end of March if everything is going according to plan!
Do you have any special dates for a tour or presentation in your country?
Rebecca:
Not yet. We just finished our tour with Dorothy Polonium and Memoira. Now we are concentrating on finishing the album. We are done with the recordings, but there is much more work to do, before we are completely ready to release it. Once the album is out, we of course want to go tour again. Follow our social media for upcoming tour dates. We can’t wait to play the new songs live!

I think I already shared the most important news, but there is one more thing! Our new online merchandise store will launch soon. So keep an eye out for that on our social media and get your Averlanche merch :)
What goals do you have for 2023 Rebecca and with Averlanche band?
Rebecca:
Now that all the new songs are recorded, the next goals are releasing the album and then hopefully a BIG TOUR!
Anything else you want to share with us?
Rebecca:
We can’t wait to drop the album and go on tour. We had our biggest concert so far last month at On The Rocks in Helsinki and it definitely left us craving more! I hope you will enjoy the new album and see you on tour! :)

Averlanche es una banda de metal melódico con sede en Helsinki, fundada en 2017. Averlanche combina melodías pegadizas con hermosas voces femeninas. Su sonido está influenciado por la música heavy metal finlandesa de los 90 y principios de los 2000.
La vocalista alemana Rebecca Spörl se mudó a Finlandia en 2014 para formar una banda de metal. Rebeca:
No en este momento. ¡Sin embargo, siempre estoy abierta a colaboraciones con otros músicos!
¿Qué influencias musicales tienes en este momento? ¿Estos gustos musicales influyeron en la producción de un nuevo álbum?
Rebeca:
No creo que haya habido influencias específicamente para este álbum, pero por supuesto todo lo que escucho me influye a mí y a mi forma de cantar más o menos. Mi mayor influencia siempre será Amy Lee de Evanescence. ¡Si no fuera por ella, hoy no sería cantante! En este momento he estado escuchando algunas cosas realmente pesadas, cosas que definitivamente no sería capaz de cantar, porque en su mayoría son gritos :D sin embargo, hay algunas canciones en el álbum que definitivamente son más pesadas, en comparación con nuestras viejas canciones. Sin embargo, están escritos por Antti Kopra, ¡así que no tiene nada que ver con lo que estoy escuchando!
Cuéntanos sobre tu nuevo sencillo Little Lotus para aquellos que no lo han escuchado.
Rebeca:
Little Lotus es muy diferente a lo que hemos hecho antes. Es una balada, pero es pesada. Es hermoso y oscuro. Me enamoré de él inmediatamente la primera vez que Antti me lo mostró. Vin Valentino (Framenoir Productions) ha hecho un excelente trabajo con el video. Hacía mucho frío en el bosque con ropa mínima y -12 grados, pero definitivamente valió la pena. ¡Tu deberias comprobar esto!
Tu sencillo Little Lotus tiene una excelente ambientación, sublime! Me parece muy alternativo, lleno de acordes y sobre todo tu hermosa voz le da aún más ese toque suave y melancólico, ¿será esta la esencia y el estilo de tu disco?
Rebeca:
¡Muchas gracias! Me alegro que hayas disfrutado. De hecho, es muy difícil describir el estilo de nuestro nuevo álbum. En nuestro primer álbum, las canciones eran bastante similares entre sí en su sonido. El próximo álbum será mucho más diverso. "Arctic Atlas" incluirá nuestra canción más pesada hasta el momento, pero también una de las baladas más conmovedoras que Antti haya escrito jamás. Cada canción te lleva a un lugar diferente, pero todo está conectado, ¡y todo suena como Averlanche!
¿Qué otros estilos musicales o influencias tendrá tu nuevo álbum? ¿Alguna sorpresa?
Rebeca:
Como mencioné brevemente anteriormente, será más pesado y cada canción tendrá diferentes estilos e influencias. ¡También habrá un músico invitado en la balada de la que estaba hablando!
¿Grabarás otro video de tu próximo álbum?
Rebeca:
Sí, habrá un lanzamiento de un sencillo más junto con otro video, después de eso lanzaremos el álbum. ¡Debe esperar el video hacia fines de marzo si todo va según lo planeado!
¿Tienes alguna fecha especial para alguna gira o presentación en tu país?
Rebeca:
Aún no. Acabamos de terminar nuestra gira con Dorothy Polonium y Memoira. Ahora nos estamos concentrando en terminar el álbum. Hemos terminado con las grabaciones, pero hay mucho más trabajo por hacer, antes de que estemos completamente listos para lanzarlo. Una vez que salga el álbum, por supuesto que queremos ir de gira de nuevo.
