Who are them? Silent Elegy band!

Silent Elegy is a symphonic metal band from Beijing, China. Their epic orchestral arrangement, combined with melodic metal, opera-style female singing and guttural growing, is just like the conversation between an evil and an angel. Lyrics desperately call for love and redemption.

Who is Gabrielle Li with Silent Elegy and without Silent Elegy?

Keyboardist:

Our vocalist is responsible for all kinds of odds and ends about the band, she is very responsible, kind and outgoing, we all love her. Our fans like her too for she is always approachable to them.

How was your musical education?

Vocalist:

I studied belcanto at college of music, learning to sing operas and having singing voice training.

How was your vocal training?

Well, I am not willing to be confined to belcanto only, so I also studied Chinese national singing, and popular singing which I might not good at.

What is your vocal range? Nice voice!

Vocalist:

Once at school I practices every day and I got a vocal range of four full octaves. But then I graduated, you know… the practice was not that much, the vocal cords function degenerated so now I think it may be less than four octaves.

Do you have other studies? Other projects or work?

Vocalist:

Before joined the band I was a singer and had my own songs. Now I also work on business performances. I also have my own nail salon, as a boss!

As was the production and creation of your álbum "Gone with the Wind"?

Keyboardist：

We take Epic Symphony as the frame for arrangement, coordinated with our vocalist’s loud graceful belcanto singing, all this is to express the dark art we created. The album Gone with the Wind is not made at one go, you can say it is a best collection album of our works, all symphonic melodies of songs have been re-orchestrated before recorded into the album, which makes the songs more layered and powerful. Inspiration of songs all comes from our life, listen carefully accompanied by the lyrics then you will get the emotion we express. Producing and recording of the whole album was finished in my (keyboard’s) studio.

As was the acceptance of the audience of your new álbum?

Keyboardist:

It seems that our songs are more acceptable by people outside China compared with inside, for our style is a niche in China.

Gabrielle, what you want to share with your music and your voice?

Vocalist:

Well, for singing it needs to pay more attention to the emotion rather than the techniques which is just to support the feeling expression better. In fact, as long as the audiences approves, you are exactly a good singer.

Some new video about your new álbum?

Keyboardist: Not yet but sure we will have.

New Tour in China? or somewhere in the world in particular?

Keyboardist:

This year in October to December we will have our tour around China. Our tour plan also covers other countries or regions but now it’s not the time. Actually we are also willing to meet our friends ASAP, so that more people would know us, a band from China.

How is the Metal scene in China? Simphonic Metal in special

Keyboardist:

In recent years metal music of China ethnic characters is more popular and have big market, in contrast, market for Symphonic Metal with a little European style just like us is relatively smaller, but it doesn’t matter, we always make music to those who like our music, with our hearts.

Silent Elegy band has musically for us, to your friends in Latin América?

Vocalist: Well... honestly I don’t know. I wonder how they think of us too!

Something else that we want to share?

Vocalist: I’m losing weight recently… I hope I will be at my best when I meet you my friends one day :)

¿Quiénes son ellos? Elegía banda de silencio!

Elegía silencio es una banda de metal sinfónico de Beijing, China. Su arreglo orquestal épica, combinados con metal melódico, al estilo de la ópera de canto femenina y gutural cultivo, es igual que la conversación entre un mal y un ángel. Letras llaman desesperadamente el amor y la redención.

1º Muchas gracias por esta entrevista. Como has estado?

Me alegra poder responder esta entrevista, estoy muy bien.

2º Quien es Gabrielle Li con y sin Silent Elegy?

Tecladista: Nuestra vocalista es responsable de todas las chucherías referentes a la banda. Ella es bastante responsable, amable y muy extrovertida, todos la adoramos.

Nuestros fans también la adoran porque siempre es cercana a ellos.

3º Como fue tu educación musical?

Vocalista: Estudie Bel canto en un colegio de música, aprendí a cantar operas y tuve mucho entrenamiento vocal.

4º Como fue tu entrenamiento vocal?

Vocalista: Debo decir que no estaba dispuesta a cantar solamente Bel canto, así que también estudie Canto nacional chino y cantos tradicionales, en el cual quizá no sea muy buena.

5º Tienes una gran voz! Cuál es tu rango vocal?

Vocalista: Cuando estaba en la escuela solía practicar diariamente y mi rango vocal es de cuatro octavas completas.

Después me gradué y deje de practicar, las cuerdas vocales se van degenerando y ahora puede ser que mi rango haya disminuido, ahora supongo que es menor a cuatro octavos.

6º Tienes otros proyectos?

Vocalista: Antes de unirme a la banda ya era cantante y tenía mis propias canciones.

Actualmente también me dedico a los negocios, tengo mi propio salón de uñas! Soy la jefa.

7º Como fue la producción y creación del álbum ‘Gone with the wind’?

Tecladista: Tomamos la sinfonía épica como marco para los arreglos y coordinamos con nuestra cantante y su hermoso Bel Canto. De esta manera expresamos el arte oscuro que hemos creado.

Este álbum no se hizo de una sola vez, es una colección de todos nuestros trabajos, cada canción sinfónica ya había sido orquestada con anterioridad para un álbum.

Esto hace a las canciones más poderosas!

La inspiración de nuestras canciones viene de la vida en general, traten de escucharlas con atención y descubrirán esas emociones que estamos tratando de expresar.

La producción y grabación del álbum se llevo a cabo en mi estudio.

8º Como fue la aceptación del álbum entre la audiencia?

Tecladista: Al parecer nuestra música es más aceptada por gente fuera de China que por la misma gente de aquí.

Nuestro estilo musical es ya un nicho aquí en China.

9º Gabrielle, Que nos quieres transmitir con tu música y tu voz?

Vocalista: Para apreciar el canto, tienes que prestar más atención a las emociones que te genera, en vez de las técnicas que se emplean.

De esta manera las emociones se expresan mucho mejor.

De hecho, Mientras más gente apruebe nuestra música, es así como te das cuenta de que eres buen cantante.

10º Habrá algún video nuevo?

Tecladista: Aun no pero seguramente después.

11º Habrá algún tour por China? O en algún otro lugar?

Tecladista: Tendremos tour desde Octubre hasta Diciembre por China. Nuestro plan era incluir otros países pero en estos momentos no se puede.

También queremos conocer a nuestros de ASAP y de esa manera más gente nos conocerá, es una banda de China.

12º Como es la escena de la música metal en China?

Tecladista: En años recientes la música metal en China con un toque étnico se ha vuelto más popular y tiene un mercado muy amplio.

Sin embargo el metal sinfónico con toques europeos, así como nosotros, tiene un mercado más reducido.

Pero sin importar esto, nosotros siempre tratamos de hacer música para aquellos que si disfrutan de nuestra música y lo hacemos con el corazón!

13º Silent Elegy band que tiene para nosotros, que les gusta a sus amigos en Latinoamérica, que opinan de esto?

Vocalista: Honestamente no sé qué decir, me gustaría saber que piensan ellos de nosotros!

14º Algo más que les gustaría compartir con nosotros?

Vocalista: He estado bajando mucho de peso últimamente, así que espero estar en forma cuando por fin los conozca!

How are you my friend?

Vocalist: 目前还不错，哈哈，很高兴接受这个采访。

It is still good, ha ha, very happy to accept this interview!

Who is Gabrielle Li with Silent Elegy and with out Silent Elegy?

Keyboardist: 主唱在乐队里是很有责任心的一个人，她负责整个乐队的各种各样大小事务，但她性格很好，很外向，大家都很喜欢她。对待乐迷很平易近人，乐迷普遍很喜欢她。

How was your musical education?

Vocalist: 我大学在音乐学院学习美声，像大家一样学习歌剧，练声。但是我不愿意只唱美声，所以还学习了中国民族唱法和流行唱法。但流行好像唱不好哈哈哈。

What is your vocal range? Nice voice!

Vocalist: 以前在学校的时候，每天练声，音域是完整的四个八度。毕业以后偷懒了，练声没有那么频繁导致声带机能退化，现在有不到四个八度吧。

Do you have other studies? Other projects or work?

Vocalist: 我在加入乐队之前是一个单人歌手，我有自己的作品。现在平实都会去接商业演出。我还有一个美甲工作室。我自己是老板。

As was the production and creation of your álbum "Gone with the Wind"?

Keyboardist: 编曲方面以史诗交响作为大框架，配合主唱高亢优美的美声唱法，表达我们的黑暗艺术，这张专辑并不是一气呵成，可以说是我们目前的竞选集，收录之前，所有交响乐都经过重新配器，使作品更佳有层次和气势，歌曲的创作灵感都源于生活，细细聆听伴随歌词会体会到要表达的情感。整张专辑制作和录制在键盘手的工作室完成。

As was the acceptance of the audience of your new álbum?

Keyboardist: 我们的作品似乎在国外比在国内容易接受，在中国这种风格太小众了。

Gabrielle, What you want to share with your music and your voice?

Vocalist: 其实唱歌不要太讲究方法而是应该注重情感，方法技巧只是为了更好的支撑感情的抒发。其实只要大家认可你，你便唱的好。

Some new video about your new álbum?

Keyboardist: 暂时还没有，以后一定会有。

New Tour in China? or somewhere in the world in particular?Keyboardist: 我们今年10月

Keyboardist: 到12月会在中国进行全国巡演，别的国家我们也有计划，只是还不到时候，但其实我们很想早点出去见到大家，让更多的人认识我们这支来自中国的乐队。

Keyboardist: 这几年中国的本土民族金属相对流行，市场大，我们这种有一点欧洲风格的交响金属相对市场小很多，不过没关系，我们就是要用心去做音乐给喜欢我们音乐的人去听。
