Australia's Victoria K released the second album "Kore" in October through Rockshots Records. to follow the highly praised 2020 debut album "Essentia".

​

Offering up progressive symphonic sound, "Kore" was specifically written to provide a full orchestral experience that drives people through a sonic journey of growth and grandeur.

"We wanted to take a new approach with this record and to grow our sound and bring something new to Victoria K. Incorporating sounds from our vocalist’s ethnic culture and heritage is something we are so extremely proud of! A concept album is something we really wanted to explore, and we are so excited to bring you this ancient story and create a sonic experience and journey for all our listeners. We cannot wait to share this new stage of Victoria K!"

"Kore" explores modern-day issues through the Homeric Hymn to Demeter (the story of Persephone). Victoria K conceptualized the idea for the album with her producer Lee Bradshaw and then spent many months researching and analyzing the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, even meeting with experts of the Homeric Hymns from Greece. The story was then broken up into its different parts where Victoria Knight wrote the lyrics and developed the melodies for each section of the tale, exploring the myth from a modern perspective.

The tracks were written specifically to encapsulate the various sections of the Homeric Hymn to Demeter and tell the story chronologically through each song and the music grows in intensity throughout the record capturing the emotional state of Persephone and other characters as the story progresses.

​

The various instruments on "Kore" were then written by Victoria around the lyrics and further enhanced and developed through the production process. Lee Bradshaw then finalized the songs by writing orchestral scores for each song, which were recorded live in Europe, before the final mixing and mastering.

My Recomendation

 

The album has a beautiful atmospheric and ambient beginning with hypnotic and mythical sounds, in Raptum it is specified with the beautiful voice that makes the great entrance, sharp chords with the guitars in front, soft progressive rhythms and light tempos, in Mothers' Garden an elegant soft and delicate beginning that later explodes with drums and stronger and more forceful chords, with slow rhythms, which later change in a harder and more structured way, with The Child we have a similar beginning than the previous song, with similar rhythms and scales, strong rhythms where the orchestral part stands out in the song, with Persephone a slightly different sound and start with a powerful guttural voice at the entrance! The line of guitars and drums with forcefulness, slow and isolated rhythms, hence with Tower, has a melodic and harmonic rhythm, the guitars take control, Victoria's singing and the guttural voice do it all and especially the Greek verses, absolutely well done guitar solos by Julia Mammone, in Pomegranate we have a beautiful beginning in Greek that after the powerful assault of chords and voices, completely shape the song, The Afterlife a slightly heavier song and keeping the style and harmonica like most songs, that drums sounding great in the highest tempos of the song and finally closing as at the beginning with a prologue.

 

Kore gives us a very good progressive and orchestral symphonic sound! Hard guitars with progressive rhythmic characteristics, distinguishing themselves a bit by their time changes and drum patterns that change and mark the beat in many songs!

 

A conceptual album full of mythology and lyrics based on Greek literature, without a doubt a great work by the band!

 

The Voice

 

Victoria's beautiful voice is great, soft, marked, a slightly low register that, when combined with her guttural voice, makes a great combination!

La Australiana Victoria K lanzo el segundo álbum "Kore" en octubre a través de Rockshots Records para seguir al muy elogiado álbum debut de 2020 "Essentia". Ofreciendo un sonido sinfónico progresivo, "Kore" fue escrito específicamente para brindar una experiencia orquestal completa que lleve a las personas a través de un viaje sonoro de crecimiento y grandeza.

 

"Queríamos adoptar un nuevo enfoque con este disco y hacer crecer nuestro sonido y aportar algo nuevo a Victoria K. ¡Incorporar sonidos de la cultura étnica y la herencia de nuestra vocalista es algo de lo que estamos muy orgullosos! Un álbum conceptual es algo que realmente queríamos". para explorar, y estamos muy emocionados de traerles esta historia antigua y crear una experiencia sonora y un viaje para todos nuestros oyentes.

"Kore" explora temas de la actualidad a través del Himno homérico a Deméter (la historia de Perséfone). Victoria K conceptualizó la idea del álbum con su productor Lee Bradshaw y luego pasó muchos meses investigando y analizando el Himno homérico a Deméter, incluso reuniéndose con expertos de los Himnos homéricos de Grecia. Luego, la historia se dividió en sus diferentes partes, donde Victoria Knight escribió la letra y desarrolló las melodías para cada sección de la historia, explorando el mito desde una perspectiva moderna.

Mi Recomendación

 

Tiene el albúm un bello inicio atmosférico y ambiental con sonidos hipnóticos y míticos, en Raptum se concreta con la bella voz que hace la entrada genial, acordes afilados con las guitarras por delante, ritmos progresivos suaves y tempos ligeros, en Mothers’ Garden un elegante inicio suave y delicado que después explota con batería y acordes más fuertes y contundentes, con ritmos lentos, que posteriormente cambian de forma más dura y estructurada, con The Child tenemos un inicio similar que la canción anterior, con ritmos y escalas semejantes, ritmos fuertes en donde la parte orquestal sobresale en la canción,  con Persephone un sonido e inicio un poco diferente con una potente voz gutural de entrada! La línea de guitarras y batería con contundencia, ritmos lentos y aislados, de ahí con Tower, tiene un ritmo melódico y armónico, las guitarras toman el mando, el canto de Victoria y la voz gutural lo hacen todo y en especial los versos griegos, solos de guitarra absolutamente bien hechos de Julia Mammone, en Pomegranate tenemos un bello inicio en griego que después del asalto potente de acordes y voces, le van dando forma a la canción completamente, The Afterlife una canción un poco más pesada y manteniendo el estilo y armónica como la mayoría de las canciones, esa batería sonando de forma genial en los tempos más álgidos de la canción y finalmente cerrando como al inicio con prólogo.

 

Kore nos da un sonido sinfónico orquestal y progresivo muy bueno! Guitarras duras con las características rítmicas progresivas, distinguiéndose un poco por sus cambios de tiempo y los patrones en la batería que van cambiando y marcando el compás en muchas canciones!

Un albúm conceptual lleno de mitología y letra basada en la literatura griega, sin duda un gran trabajo de la banda!   

 

La Voz

 

La bella voz de Victoria es genial, suave, marcada, un registro un poco grave que al combinarse con la voz gutural hace una gran combinación!
