The Imperial Age of symphonic metal band from Russia and for its professionalism and the remarkable vocal diversity of its three vocalists: Jane "Corn" Odintsov (Mezzo-Soprano), Anna "Kiara" Moiseeva (Soprano) and Alexander "Aor" Osipov (Tenor) and a musical coordination very well done! It has quickly become not only the second most international metal band on the Russian tour, but it also attracted attention and received the backing of legendary teacher Christofer Johnsson (Therion). The same founder of the symphonic metal, and Sergei Lazar (Arkona), co-leader of the most famous Russian metal band.

I have the opportunity to have an interview with Anna one of the singers of the band, with a great voice and incredible vocal strength!

Hello! It`s a pleasure for me as well! :)

 

How are you?

 

​Anna:

​

Fine, thank you! On tour now.

 

Tell us a little about yourself, tell us how you got to Imperial Age band?

 

​Anna:

​

Well, about myself – I used to be a musician since my childhood :) I even have a video when me, 6-years old, singing one popular song and when mom asked me: “Whom you want to be?” I answered: “A singer!” :)) When I was 8, I took my mom to musical school and since that time I started to learn music skills – playing piano, singing, writing notes, etc. When I was 18, I went to musical college in my hometown Kaluga and started to learn opera vocal there. At 19 I started to sing with my first rock band. They found me on one jam-session, when I was singing, and asked to joined them. I wanted to sing in a rock band since I saw Queen live at Wembley when I was 13. (And since that time I was training my favourite song The Show Must Go On.) So I agreed and we started to rehearse.

 

Also I always took parts in a lot of vocal competitions (by the way, one of them was on TV), and once I made a video with me singing The Show Must Go On for one of these competitions. Somehow, Alexander Osipov, founder and leader of Imperial Age, found this video and asked me if I want to take part in a casting for Imperial Age vocal. I agreed, came to Moscow, sang some songs with Imperial Age, and then Alex and Jane took me to the band.

 

Your vocal range catches my attention! How was your vocal training?

 

​Anna:

​

As I said, I started to sing in musical school when I was 8. It was usual vocal training with regular voice. When I was 18, I became a student in a classical musical college and continued to learn vocal skills, but I also started to study opera voice there. First it was difficult, but then I understood the difference between two types of voices and I can mix them both now) After the college I entered The Institute Of Theatre Arts in Moscow as an actress of musical theatre and continued my vocal lessons there. This year is the last year of study for me.

 

Also to sing, do you handle any musical instrument? like which?

 

​Anna:

​

My favourite musical instrument is a piano. I was studying piano in musical school and college, so I can play a lot of classical compositions. Also I was learning classical guitar when I was 14 and violin when I was 16. Still plaiyng these instruments sometimes

 

Off stage who is Anna? Are you an actress too?

 

​Anna:

​

I`m studying as an actress now, but the truth that I never thought I could act as a professional actor! It was so difficult to me `cause I have been really unconfident `till past several years. I was really afraid to go on stage even for singing (that I can do better then anything else) and I`m not saying about acting! But I was working on myself really hard and I realized that no one is perfect and you just need to take yourself with all your “imperfection” (because only you think that it`s imperfection) and do your best with keeping working on yourself. But I understood this fact not so long ago) And about your question – I used to try to be someone else on stage for a long time until I understood that I need to be myself wherever I am. Now I`m Anna KiaRa everywhere and feel myself more confident.

 

What is your favorite thing to do? Sing, Model or Actress? Which demands more time for you

 

​Anna:

​

I like to be an actress and a model – it`s very important for my work. But first I`m a singer and a musician. At the beginning I was singing all days long, Now I can spend weeks in silence and it`s not a problem, I`m not loosing my skills. I`m working more on my acting and model skills for now. Also trying to compose music.

 

How do you feel about being in this super band with all the great acceptance within the metal scene? What does it mean to be in Imperal Age?

 

​Anna:

​

It was very exciting for me to go on first tour with Imperial Age as a support for Orphaned Land. Suddenly me – a simple girl from a simple family and from a little city – go on European tour with a high-professional musicians, speaking English, singing for hundreds people! About our second tour with Therion last year – the same – it was really cool and huge experience! And now we`re on our first headliner tour! I really grateful to my Universe that gave me so incredible chance and to Alex and Jane who believed in me) Also I grateful to every member of Imperial Age for supporting me and each other.

 

I think there will be a super tour this year, right? What surprises will Anna have with Imperial Age for her fans?

 

​Anna:

​

The first headliner tour – that is the surprise! We have a big 1,5 hour set with old and new songs for real fans) Also we are always going to have a word and take a photos with our fans after the show.

 

Do you like some other musical genre? like which? Would you like to interpret it?

 

​Anna:

​

I like a lot of musical genres – classical, pop, rock, metal. For me it`s not a problem to listen everything I like in spite of genres – I`m a musicians first and I don`t want to limit myself. I also took parts in some pop projects and singing in musical as a role of elven princess – you can check it in my VK page (vk.com/anna_kiara).
There are a lot of bands and musicians in my playlist – Nightwish, Phapsody Of Fire, Queen, Scorpions, Amaranthe, At Vance, Avantasia, Therion, Two Steps From Hell, Michael Jackson, George Michael, Whitney Houston, Tyr, Enigma, Era, Xandria, Kamelot, Linkin Park, Powerwolf, Tarja, Dimmu Borgir, Battlelore.

 

Of all the Imperial Age discography, what is the best album for you and why?

 

​Anna:

​

​The last one – The Legacy of Atlantis `cause this is the only one studio album with my voice) Kidding! I like it because it`s really good music and the best album of Imperial Age for now.

 

When will we have Imperial Age here in Latin América?

 

​Anna:

​

As soon as any promoter will take us there!

 

Have you had any challenges for you within the Imperial Age band and if so, which one?

 

​Anna:

​

We are all humans and as all humans sometimes we`re tired or not in good mood and we can say something not really good to each other. But that`s all that could happen with us. We forgive each other quickly.

 

How about this beginning of the year 2019 for you Anna! What plans does Anna have with Imperial Age this year?

 

​Anna:

​

The beginning of the year was a preparation for our first headliner tour! And now, while we`re on tour, I can`t say something else about our plans for this year. First we need to finish the tour!

 

Anything else you want to share with us?

 

​Anna:

​

La Edad Imperial de la banda de metal sinfónico de Rusia y por su profesionalismo y la notable diversidad vocal de sus tres vocalistas: Jane "Corn" Odintsov (Mezzo-Soprano), Anna "Kiara" Moiseeva (Soprano) y Alexander "Aor" Osipov (Tenor). ) y una coordinación musical muy bien hecha! Rápidamente se ha convertido no solo en la segunda banda de metal más internacional en la gira rusa, sino que también llamó la atención y recibió el respaldo del legendario maestro Christofer Johnsson (Therion). El mismo fundador del metal sinfónico, y Sergei Lazar (Arkona), co-líder de la banda rusa de metal más famosa.

2. ¿Cómo estás?

​

Anna

​

¡Bien, gracias! De gira ahora.

3. Cuéntanos un poco sobre ti, cuéntanos cómo llegaste a la banda Imperial Age?

​

Anna

​

Bueno, sobre mí, solía ser músico desde mi infancia :) Incluso tengo un video cuando yo, de 6 años, cantando una canción popular y cuando mamá me preguntó: "¿A quién quieres ser?" Respondí: “¡Una cantante!” :)) Cuando tenía 8 años, llevé a mi madre a la escuela de música y desde ese momento empecé a aprender habilidades musicales: tocar el piano, cantar, escribir notas, etc. Cuando tenía 18 años, fui a la escuela de música. En mi ciudad natal, Kaluga, empecé a aprender ópera vocal allí. A los 19 comencé a cantar con mi primera banda de rock. Me encontraron en una sesión de improvisación, cuando estaba cantando, y me pidieron que me uniera a ellos. Quería cantar en una banda de rock desde que vi a Queen en vivo en Wembley cuando tenía 13 años. (Y desde ese momento estaba entrenando mi canción favorita, The Show Must Go On). Así que acepté y comenzamos a ensayar.

 

También siempre participé en muchas competiciones vocales (por cierto, una de ellas estaba en la televisión), y una vez hice un video conmigo cantando The Show Must Go On para una de estas competiciones. De alguna manera, Alexander Osipov, fundador y líder de Imperial Age, encontró este video y me preguntó si quería participar en un casting para la voz de Imperial Age. Acepté, fui a Moscú, canté algunas canciones con Imperial Age y luego Alex y Jane me llevaron a la banda.

4. ¡Tú rango vocal me llama la atención! ¿Cómo fue tu entrenamiento vocal?

​

Anna

​

Como dije, empecé a cantar en la escuela de música cuando tenía 8 años. Era el entrenamiento vocal habitual con voz regular. Cuando tenía 18 años, me convertí en estudiante en una escuela de música clásica y continué aprendiendo habilidades vocales, pero también comencé a estudiar voz de ópera allí. Primero fue difícil, pero luego entendí la diferencia entre dos tipos de voces y puedo mezclarlas ahora. Después de la universidad ingresé en el Instituto de Artes Teatrales de Moscú como actriz de teatro musical y continué mis lecciones vocales allí. Este año es el último año de estudio para mí.

5. También para cantar, ¿manejas algún instrumento musical? como cual

​

Anna

​

Mi instrumento musical favorito es un piano. Estudié piano en la escuela de música y en la universidad, así que puedo tocar muchas composiciones clásicas. También estaba aprendiendo guitarra clásica cuando tenía 14 años y violín cuando tenía 16 años. Todavía toco estos instrumentos a veces.

​

6. Fuera del escenario, ¿quién es Anna? ¿Eres actriz también?

​

Anna

​

Ahora estoy estudiando como actriz, ¡pero la verdad es que nunca pensé que podía actuar como actor profesional! Fue muy difícil para mí, porque no me he sentido muy segura hasta hace varios años. Tenía mucho miedo de subir al escenario, incluso para cantar (que puedo hacerlo mejor que cualquier otra cosa) y no estoy diciendo nada sobre la actuación. Pero estuve trabajando muy duro conmigo misma y me di cuenta de que nadie es perfecto y que solo necesitas llevarte con toda tu "imperfección" (porque solo crees que es la imperfección) y hacer todo lo posible para seguir trabajando en ti misma. Pero entendí este hecho no hace mucho. Y sobre tu pregunta, solía tratar de ser otra persona en el escenario durante mucho tiempo hasta que entendí que tenía que ser yo misma donde quiera que estuviera. Ahora soy Anna KiaRa en todas partes y me siento más segura.

7. ¿Qué es lo que más te gusta hacer? ¿Cantar, modelo o actriz? lo que exige más tiempo para ti

 

Anna

​

Me gusta ser actriz y modelo, es muy importante para mi trabajo. Pero primero soy cantante y músico. Al principio cantaba todos los días, ahora puedo pasar semanas en silencio y no es un problema, no estoy perdiendo mis habilidades. Estoy trabajando más en mis habilidades de actuación y modelo por ahora. También intentando componer música.

​

8. ¿Cómo te sientes al estar en esta súper banda con toda la gran aceptación dentro de la escena del metal? ¿Qué significa estar en Imperial Age?

​

Anna

​

Fue muy emocionante para mí hacer mi primera gira con Imperial Age como apoyo para Orphaned Land. De repente, yo, una chica sencilla de una familia sencilla y de una pequeña ciudad, salgo de gira por Europa con músicos altamente profesionales, que hablan inglés y cantan para cientos de personas. Acerca de nuestra segunda gira con Therion el año pasado, lo mismo: ¡fue una experiencia genial y genial! ¡Y ahora estamos en nuestra primera gira en el techo! Estoy muy agradecida a mi Universo que me dio una oportunidad increíble ya Alex y Jane que creyeron en mí. También estoy agradecida con cada miembro de Imperial Age por apoyarme a mí y a los demás.

9. Creo que habrá una súper gira este año, ¿verdad? ¿Qué sorpresas tendrá Anna con Imperial Age para sus fans?

​

Anna

​

La primera gira de cabeza de cartel - ¡esa es la sorpresa! Tenemos un gran set de hora y media con canciones antiguas y nuevas para los verdaderos fanáticos. Además, siempre vamos a tener una palabra y tomar una foto con nuestros fans después del espectáculo.

​

10. ¿Te gusta algún otro género musical? como cual ¿Te gustaría interpretarlo?

​

Anna

​

Me gustan muchos géneros musicales: clásico, pop, rock, metal. Para mí no es un problema escuchar todo lo que me gusta a pesar de los géneros: primero soy músico y no quiero limitarme. También participé en algunos proyectos pop y canté en el musical como un papel de la princesa élfica. Puedes verlo en mi página VK (vk.com/anna_kiara).

​

El último - The Legacy of Atlantis `porque este es el único álbum de estudio con mi voz :) ¡Es broma! Me gusta porque es muy buena música y el mejor álbum de Imperial Age por ahora.

12. ¿Cuándo tendremos Imperial Age aquí en América Latina?

​

Anna

​

¡Tan pronto como cualquier promotor nos lleve allí!

 

13. ¿Has tenido algún desafío para ti dentro de la banda de Imperial Age y en caso afirmativo, cuál?

​

Anna

​

Todos somos humanos y como todos los humanos a veces estamos cansados o no de buen humor y podemos decir algo que no es realmente bueno el uno para el otro. Pero eso es todo lo que podría pasar con nosotros. Nos perdonamos rápidamente.

​

14. ¿Qué te parece este comienzo del 2019 para ti, Anna? ¿Qué planes tiene Anna con la Imperial este año?

​

Anna

​

¡El comienzo del año fue una preparación para nuestra primera gira! Y ahora, mientras estamos de gira, no puedo decir nada más sobre nuestros planes para este año. Primero tenemos que terminar el recorrido!

​

​
