Hello and thanks a lot for the invitation and your beautiful comments. They are much appreciated.
How have you been?
Marialena
I am good as much as posible. We all are passing through a strange situation so I am trying to stay possitive and creative.
Tell us about yourself and your career as a professional classical singer! Lyric Soprano
Marialena
I`ve started my music studies in opera at the age of 19. As a soprano I participated in many operas and concerts in Greece during and after my studies. When I took my degree I traveled in Venice to give exams for a master. During my trip I took place also in two concerts there. Unfortunately I didn`t pass the exams for one only place and going back to Greece I took the decisión to write my own music without taking the chance to participate one more time in the next exams of the academy.
In the previous review I made of your Vanity album, I loved your voice! The whole album dominated by your beautiful voice, what is your scale and range? Do you train your voice constantly?
Marialena
Firstly I have to say that I am really humbled by your beatiful words. My range as a lyric soprano is two and a half octaves begins from A3 (just below middle C) and stops to E6. I train my voice almost every day in about 20 minutes. I also teach my students so I am doing it anyway.

Have you had classical music concerts? Is there any special one that you like?
Marialena
I had many concerts and roles in operas. My favourite one was in Verdi`s Opera ‘Othello’ where I was performing the role of Desdemona. It was my favourite role in opera and I had played that one in 3 different performances. In every single one I had the same feeling while I was looking the audience after the show. Many of them were crying and there is nothing more sutisfying for an artist to see that his acting can touch the people.
Darkzen:
You are right, when you manage to touch people or transmit what you compose, that is an indescribable emotion!
Why Symphonic Metal for you? By your voice? For your taste? or because of passion?
Marialena
I can say that they are all together. I love opera but my true passion as a child was to perform in symphonic metal bands. The most important for an artist is to have the knowledge and to use it for his own music. I am always open in operas and musicals,but that`s no the carree I want to follow.
You are passionate and dedicated when singing right? is there any secret to unite both?
Marialena
The only secret for me is the hard work and the true love for that you are doing. I see my music as my child. Whenever I créate a new song I feel like I am taking a Deep breath. So if you truly love what you are doing, you can always unite both.
Darkzen:
I totally agree with you.
Only Metal, Rock or Opera for you?
Marialena
For me the answer is music. You can combine many things in your own songs. Every genre of music is also a combination of many other elements. So the magic for me is to search for each one of them and to créate somoething uniq with my own identity.
What other collaborations have you done musically?
Marialena
I have sung with many classic artists in concerts. In the metal scene I haven`t collaborated with a known person, but we are discussing something after the lockdown. I also had two bands before my solo Project. The one is called Horrorgraphy and it`s going really great. If you are a Therion`s fan it`s worthing to take a listen.
Your Vanity album, how was the production? The lyrics and composition, how was the preparation of that?
Marialena
It was a beautiful progress which I can`t wait to do again. I wrote the lyrics of the songs and came up with some vocal ideas. Vangelis Yalamas composed the music and did all the production. We really enjoyed that very much. Now that I have my members we are writing music all together for the second álbum.
Any live event that can be dated in your country? For the pandemic
Marialena
Till now we have no idea when this events will start again. We have nothing planed but we are staying tuned for every new decisión which is taken.
Any meeting in a social network with your fans?
Marialena
Yes I have some things in mind. We`d like to do something as a band but unfortunately we didn`t even start our perfomances for people to know us better. But still we are going to do something soon.
Anything else that you want to share with all the readers?
Marialena
Thank you very much for your time and for that beautiful conversation. It was my pleasure. The only thing I was to say to all of you is neverto give up from your dreams. Everything is posible as much as you love it and you live for that. I also wish for that situation to pass soon and to go back to our normal lifes. Patience and creativity are all we need.

¿Cómo has estado?
Marialena
Estoy bien cómo es posible. Todos estamos atravesando una situación extraña, así que trato de mantenerme positiva y creativa.

Marialena
Comencé mis estudios musicales en ópera a los 19 años. Como soprano participé en muchas óperas y conciertos en Grecia durante y después de mis estudios. Cuando me gradué, viajé a Venecia para hacer los exámenes de maestría. Durante mi viaje participé también en dos conciertos allí. Lamentablemente no pasé los exámenes de un solo lugar y al regresar a Grecia tomé la decisión de escribir mi propia música sin tener la oportunidad de participar una vez más en los próximos exámenes de la academia.
En la reseña anterior que hice de tu álbum Vanity, ¡me encantó tu voz! Todo el álbum dominado por tu hermosa voz, ¿Cuál es tu escala y rango? ¿Entrenas tu voz constantemente?
Marialena
En primer lugar, tengo que decir que me siento realmente honrado por sus hermosas palabras. Mi rango como soprano lírico es de dos octavas y media, comienza en A3 (justo debajo del C medio) y termina en E6. Entreno mi voz casi todos los días en unos 20 minutos. También enseño a mis alumnos, así que lo estoy haciendo de todos modos.

¿Has tenido conciertos de música clásica? ¿Hay alguno en especial que te guste?
Marialena
Tuve muchos conciertos y papeles en óperas. Mi favorita fue en la ópera de Verdi "Othello", donde interpreté el papel de Desdemona. Era mi papel favorito en la ópera y lo había interpretado en 3 representaciones diferentes. En todos tuve la misma sensación mientras miraba a la audiencia después del espectáculo. Muchos de ellos lloraban y no hay nada más sutil para un artista que ver que su actuación puede tocar a la gente.
Darkzen:
Tienes razón, cuando ustedes logran tocar a la gente o trasmitir lo que componen, eso es una emoción indescriptible!
¿Por qué Symphonic Metal para ti? ¿Por tu voz? ¿Para tu gusto o por pasión?
Marialena
Puedo decir que están todos juntos. Me encanta la ópera, pero mi verdadera pasión de niña era tocar en bandas de metal sinfónico. Lo más importante para un artista es tener el conocimiento y utilizarlo para su propia música. Siempre estoy abierta en óperas y musicales, pero esa no es la carrera que quiero seguir.
Eres apasionada y dedicada a la hora de cantar, ¿verdad? ¿Hay algún secreto para unir a ambos?
Marialena
El único secreto para mí es el trabajo duro y el verdadero amor por lo que estás haciendo. Veo mi música como mi hijo. Cada vez que creo una nueva canción siento que estoy respirando profundamente. Entonces, si realmente amas lo que estás haciendo, siempre puedes unir a ambos.

Estoy totalmente de acuerdo contigo.
¿Solo Metal, Rock u Opera para ti?
Marialena
Para mí la respuesta es la música. Puedes combinar muchas cosas en tus propias canciones. Cada género musical es también una combinación de muchos otros elementos. Entonces, la magia para mí es buscar a cada uno de ellos y crear algo único con mi propia identidad.
¿Qué otras colaboraciones haz hecho musicalmente?
Marialena
He cantado con muchos artistas clásicos en conciertos. En la escena del metal no he colaborado con una persona conocida, pero estamos discutiendo algo después del encierro. También tuve dos bandas antes de mi proyecto en solitario. Uno se llama Horrorgrafía y va muy bien. Si eres fanático de Therion, vale la pena escucharlo.
Tu álbum Vanity, ¿Cómo fue la producción? La letra y la composición, ¿Cómo fue la preparación de eso?
Marialena
Fue un hermoso progreso que no puedo esperar para volver a hacerlo. Escribí la letra de las canciones y se me ocurrieron algunas ideas vocales. Vangelis Yalamas compuso la música e hizo toda la producción. Realmente lo disfrutamos mucho. Ahora que tengo a mis miembros, estamos escribiendo música todos juntos para el segundo álbum.
¿Algún evento en vivo que se pueda fechar en tu país? Por la pandemia
Marialena
Hasta ahora no tenemos idea de cuándo comenzarán de nuevo estos eventos. No tenemos nada planeado, pero estamos atentos a cada nueva decisión que se tome.
¿Alguna reunión en una red social con tus fans?
Marialena
Sí, tengo algunas cosas en mente. Nos gustaría hacer algo como banda, pero desafortunadamente ni siquiera comenzamos nuestras actuaciones para que la gente nos conociera mejor. Pero todavía vamos a hacer algo pronto.
¿Algo más que quieras compartir con todos los lectores?
Marialena
Muchas gracias por tu tiempo y por esta hermosa conversación. Fue un placer. Lo único que iba a decirles a todos ustedes es que nunca renuncien a sus sueños.
