Forming late 2013, dark and delicious alternative metal band from Liverpool, England. Novacrow is formed of Kitty Staunton on lead vocals/ guitar, Federico “Freddy” Spera on bass/backing vocals and Jonyx on guitars/backing vocals. Infamous for their extremely high energy sets, Novacrow deliver wild stage shows, filthy riffs and soaring vocals.
2022 has seen Novacrow’s triumphant return from lockdown. They won Merseyside's Metal to the Masses 2022, and have a brand new album ready to unleash, alongside appearances at Hard Rock Hell Ibiza, Liverpool Tattoo Convention and Bloodstock.
Following the successful release of ‘Novacrow Volume 1’, their new album ‘Look At Me Now’ was written and recorded across lockdown. It aims to showcase the best of Novacrow’s eclectic sound, with a wild blend of genres, infused with horror influences and a touch of humour. It features Scare Tactics' Stu Barker on drums.

How are you Kitty?
Kitty:
I am fabulous thank you!
Tell us a little more about yourself! You are a Vocalist and a Guitarist, how did you start both?
Kitty:
I taught myself guitar when I was in my early teens, because I wanted to write songs. I ended up doing vocals in my first few bands and ended up sticking with it. When Novacrow shifted into more of a serious project, I put in a lot of work to learn how to sing whilst protecting my voice.
Did you always like Metal and Hard Rock?
Kitty:
Absolutely, it’s always been a big part of my life. I love loads of different genres of music- it depends on the mood.
What does the color purple mean to you? What does the name of your band mean?
Kitty:
It’s definitely my favourite colour. I think there’s something dark and mystical about it.
Novacrow was chosen by picking two words from the dictionary and cramming them together. We got very lucky haha!
What are your biggest musical influences?
Kitty:
Type O Negative, Otep, The Birthday Massacre, Die so Fluid, Skindred, Alice in Chains, Rob Zombie, Joan Jett, Deftones.
What is the style and stamp of your band Novacrow?
Kitty:
We describe ourselves as alternative metal, blending heavy rock with hints of industrial. Novacrow is a mix of humour, horror and heavy riffs. We all have very eclectic tastes and that definitely comes across in our music. No two tracks on the album sound the same, we’re bringing together tons of different sounds and styles together. Live, we go absolutely crazy and work hard to be as entertaining as possible. We’re equally serious and silly.
These singles are great from your album Look At Me Now! Will there be another video clip of this same album in these months?
Kitty:
Yes, we’re working on some more music videos as we speak! Buckle up, because they’re going to be hilarious.
Who writes the songs, is it you or the whole band?
Kitty:
Freddy and I wrote the whole of Look At Me Now through lockdown, mainly through sending each other drafts of a track for the other to work on. I’m so happy with the result, because I think it kept everything so fresh and imaginative.
How have the reviews been for your new album Look At Me Now? They introduced their music on BBC Radio! Fine!
Kitty:
We’ve had some fantastic reviews, people seem to have really enjoyed the eclectic mix of styles across the album. I think there is something for everyone on there.
Any tour or performance dates in the UK?
Kitty:
Yes, we’ll be announcing loads of UK dates very soon, in the process of filling up our calendar.
What does Kitty Staunton and Novacrow have in mind for this 2023?
Kitty:
World domination, lots of live shows and more music to share with you.

Kitty:
Aprendí guitarra por mi cuenta cuando era adolescente, porque quería escribir canciones. Terminé haciendo voces en mis primeras bandas y terminé quedándome con eso. Cuando Novacrow cambió a un proyecto más serio, trabajé mucho para aprender a cantar mientras protegía mi voz.

Nos describimos como metal alternativo, mezclando rock pesado con toques industriales. Novacrow es una mezcla de humor, terror y riffs pesados. Todos tenemos gustos muy eclécticos y eso definitivamente se refleja en nuestra música. No hay dos pistas en el álbum que suenen igual, estamos reuniendo toneladas de sonidos y estilos diferentes. En vivo, nos volvemos absolutamente locos y trabajamos duro para ser lo más entretenidos posible. Somos igualmente serios y tontos.
