Founded by the up-and-coming guitar phenomenon Sonia Anubis (Ex-CRYPTA, Ex-BURNING WITCHES). COBRA SPELL is slithering its way into the revival era of the 80’s Glam and Heavy Metal sound. The worldwide sleaze quintet is completed with Kristina Vega on vocals, Sonia Anubis on Lead Guitar, Angelina Vehera on Bass, Noelle dos Anjos on Rhythm Guitar and Jess on Drums.
In September 2020, the band released their debut EP titled Love Venom. The songs paint a glistening image of night-life fun, reckless lust and sleazy love. Love Venom is an EP driven with many shred guitar parts, hook infused vocals and thunder-like rhythm sections. With this release, the band saw many positive reviews worldwide, pushing their drive to make new music even further.
In December 2021, the band gathered up in Madrid, Spain, to record their second EP.
Anthems Of The Night was recorded in December 2021 at PKO Studios. Produced, mixed and mastered by Alejandro Gabasa Barcoj from Comeback Studios. The band meticulously crafted 4 new songs, aptly fit for a summer’s night drive with the top down and the music loud.
They also shoot their first videoclips, for the songs “Addicted To The Night” (reaching over 700k views in less than a half year) and “The Midnight Hour” (reaching over 250k views in 4 months). After having toured with successful bands such as ROSS THE BOSS, ENFORCER and EVIL INVADERS. COBRA SPELL is armed and ready to take on all the stages worldwide, with a hunger to put on a show that will leave audiences around the globe speechless and wanting more!

How are all of you?
CobraS:
Hey there thank you so much for having me! I am doing well, been a crazy bunch of days lately for us. We have been on Dutch TV recently, performing our new single Flaming Heart. How cool is that?
Darkzen:
That is great!
Tell us about you! Who are each? What musical influences do you have?
SoniaA:
We are a heavy/rock band inspired by the golden era, the 80s! We are totally in love with this decade and this is visible in our identity and audible in our sound.
The band is completed with Kristina Vega on vocals, myself on Lead Guitar, Angelina Vehera on Bass, Noelle dos Anjos on Rhythm Guitar and Jess on Drums.
My influences are certainly bands from the 80s, such as RATT, KISS, Alice Cooper, Dokken, Van Halen, David Lee Roth and many more artists!
Which are your hobbies?
SoniaA:
I enjoy playing the guitar and synthesisers, writing music, trying out new make-up looks, working out and sporting, dressing up, painting, also recently started pole-dancing.
Cobra Spell, Hard Rock and 80's Metal? Why a retro style?
SoniaA:
Because it’s freakin’ amazing! I truly love the sound and the aesthetic of the 80s, its so fun and cool. We need to bring it back. There is something magical about that timeframe and I want to (re-)live it in the most authentic way possible.
Who composes the songs? Who writes the letter?
SoniaA:
All the compositions are 100% done by myself, lyrics now also mostly by myself but with some help of Kristina.
I think the 80's Retro Rock Metal style is back, I've seen it in other bands, what do you think? I am right?
SoniaA:
Yes, there is a lot of bands that pay homage to this decade. But not many that do it in an authentic and genuine way + a good production, besides it, we embrace the glam side, something a lot of bands don’t dare to do anymore.
Is there something different in the current music within metal or is something missing from the musical style?
SoniaA:
Yes, there is missing women in the metal/rock! There is a gender imbalance in the genre and I want to change this with COBRA SPELL. Hoping that we can make a change to this. Also I feel there is missing some fun in music. People take stuff too seriously sometimes.
Her style, music and presentation is very sexy! The songs are great with that rich eighties style! Tell us about 'Flaming Heart'? Inspiration and creation of this single
SoniaA:
Thank you! The song ‘Flaming Heart’ was composed by me a couple of years ago. I was very inspired by the 80s AOR sound. Aside of this, I have a huge passion with synthesizers and love to compose music with them. I wanted to implement this passion in COBRA SPELL for the first time, and this is audible in this song! The lyrics on this one was also written by myself. Initially the song had other lyrics done by a previous member, but since he is no longer in the band — I wanted to re-do them. ‘Flaming Heart’ speaks about following your passion no matter what, and never giving up. For me it’s passion anthem!
Are all of you working on an EP or another single?
CobraS:
We are currently working on our debut full-length.

Fundada por la prometedora fenómeno de la guitarra Sonia Anubis (Ex-CRYPTA, Ex-BURNING WITCHES). COBRA SPELL se abre camino hacia la era del renacimiento del sonido Glam y Heavy Metal de los 80. El quinteto de sordidez mundial se completa con Kristina Vega en la voz, Sonia Anubis en la guitarra principal, Angelina Vehera en el bajo, Noelle dos Anjos en la guitarra rítmica y Jess en la batería.
En septiembre de 2020, la banda lanzó su EP debut titulado Love Venom. Las canciones pintan una imagen brillante de la diversión de la vida nocturna, la lujuria imprudente y el amor sórdido. Love Venom es un EP impulsado por muchas partes de guitarra triturada, voces infundidas de gancho y secciones rítmicas como truenos. Con este lanzamiento, la banda recibió muchas críticas positivas en todo el mundo, lo que impulsó aún más su impulso para hacer música nueva.
En diciembre de 2021, la banda se reunió en Madrid, España, para grabar su segundo EP.

¿Cómo están todas ustedes?
CobraS:
¡Hola, muchas gracias por recibirnos! Estoy bien, han sido un montón de días locos últimamente para nosotras. Hemos estado en la televisión holandesa recientemente, presentando nuestro nuevo sencillo Flaming Heart. ¿Cuán genial es eso?
Darkzen:
Eso es grandioso!
¡Cuéntanos acerca de ustedes! ¿Quiénes son cada una? ¿Qué influencias musicales tienes?
CobraS:
Somos una banda de heavy/rock inspirada en la época dorada, ¡los años 80! Estamos totalmente enamoradas de esta década y esto es visible en nuestra identidad y audible en nuestro sonido.
La banda se completa con Kristina Vega a la voz, yo a la guitarra solista, Angelina Vehera al bajo, Noelle dos Anjos a la guitarra rítmica y Jess a la batería.
Mis influencias son sin duda bandas de los 80, como RATT, KISS, Alice Cooper, Dokken, Van Halen, David Lee Roth y muchos artistas más!
¿Cuáles son tus pasatiempos?
SoniaS:
Me gusta tocar la guitarra y los sintetizadores, escribir música, probar nuevos estilos de maquillaje, hacer ejercicio y hacer deporte, disfrazarme, pintar, y también comencé recientemente a bailar en barra.
¿Cobra Spell, Hard Rock y Metal de los 80? ¿Por qué un estilo retro?
SoniaA:
¡Porque es increíble! Realmente amo el sonido y la estética de los 80, es tan divertido y genial. Tenemos que traerlo de vuelta. Hay algo mágico en ese marco de tiempo y quiero (re)vivirlo de la manera más auténtica posible.
¿Quién compone las canciones? ¿Quien escribe la letra?
SoniaA:
Todas las composiciones son 100% hechas por mí, las letras ahora también son en su mayoría mías pero con la ayuda de Kristina.
Creo que ha vuelto el estilo Retro Rock Metal de los 80, lo he visto en otras bandas, ¿ustedes que opinan? ¿Yo tengo razón?
SoniaA:
Sí, hay muchas bandas que rinden homenaje a esta década. Pero no muchos que lo hagan de una manera auténtica y genuina + una buena producción, además de eso, abrazamos el lado glam, algo que muchas bandas ya no se atreven a hacer.
¿Hay algo diferente en la música actual dentro del metal o falta algo en el estilo musical?
SoniaA:
¡Sí, faltan mujeres en el metal/rock! Hay un desequilibrio de género en el género y quiero cambiar esto con COBRA SPELL. Esperando que podamos hacer un cambio en esto.
También siento que falta algo de diversión en la música. La gente se toma las cosas demasiado en serio a veces.
¡Su estilo, música y presentación es muy sexy! ¡Las canciones son geniales con ese rico estilo de los ochenta! ¿Cuéntanos sobre 'Corazón llameante'? Inspiración y creación de este single.
SoniaA:
¡Gracias! La canción 'Flaming Heart' fue compuesta por mí hace un par de años. Me inspiré mucho en el sonido AOR de los 80. Aparte de esto, tengo una gran pasión por los sintetizadores y me encanta componer música con ellos. Quería implementar esta pasión en COBRA SPELL por primera vez, ¡y esto se escucha en esta canción! La letra de este también fue escrita por mí mismo. Inicialmente, la canción tenía otras letras hechas por un miembro anterior, pero como ya no está en la banda, quería volver a hacerlas. 'Flaming Heart' habla de seguir tu pasión sin importar qué, y nunca rendirte. ¡Para mí es el himno de la pasión!
¿Están todas trabajando en un EP u otro single?
CobraS:
Actualmente estamos trabajando en nuestro debut de larga duración.
