Uniting Post-Metal, Doom and Psychedelic Rock, wazzara is the culmination of a themed

solo project from the former lead singer of Folk Metal band, Caladmor. Taking initial inspiration

from the natural poetry of water in motion, enrapt listeners have found themselves

moved by the otherworldly, ethereal and magical offerings of Swiss-based songwriter

Barbara Brawand since 2015.

In 2019, Barbara collaborated with Icelandic composer and musician, Árni Bergur Zoëga

(Helrunar, Árstíđir Lífsins, Carpe Noctem), to give the world wazzara’s first EP, zessa. A

show quickly followed in early 2020, alongside Grift and Wolcensmen; the first and last

to grace the stage before a long and terrible silence descended over the concert industry.

The now initiated writing process for wazzara‘s first full-length album led to exploration

of wider musical horizons, incorporating spellbinding, doomy riffs into the EP’s legacy of

melancholic, dreamy and celestial soundscapes. The water-bound concept has been extended to uncover unaffected but fragile lyrics dealing with vulnerability and feeling out of place in a world where sensitivity is considered a weakness.

A moon motif nurturing untamed, sacred femininity has also been woven into spells for healing old wounds. Inspired by nature’s infinite wandering phases, Cycles praises the end that is always a beginning.

Solanum

An atmospheric, gloomy and dark beginning, with the beautiful voice of Barbara with a clean and contrasting register, background choruses, strong chords and long musical notes.

Mænic

We have a beginning in the same musical line, atmospheric beginning with sublime chords and very discreet drums, Bárbara's voice leads the way with a beautiful vocal extension and register, in the company of high-pitched growls that give more dark and heavy emphasis.

Inwards

A song with a bit more darkness, passion and strength in the instruments, long notes and slow and gentle rhythms.

Obsidian Skies

A very atmospheric introduction with a bleak and striking chorus! Rough and sharp chords throughout the track lasting a little longer.

Antares

An acoustic guitar input, which eventually joins a stronger chord with a slow tempo with the same dark and brooding line, an excellent Doom vibe!

Fissures

A little more energy and speed, a song a little more melodic, rhythms and Barbara's voice with greater warmth! Rhythmic and short musical notes.

Wolf Moon (tribute to Type O Negative)

An excellent tribute song to a legendary band within our Metal genre, Type O Negative.

Ancestral Bonds

And closing strong within the same musical line, dense, dark, with sharp and deep riffs, full of melancholy, guttural and with a more atmospheric black metal style with greater power.

My Recomendation

Wazzara band leaves us with their first full album, their style, musical influences, interpretation and composition full of Post Metal, Folk, Doom, Goth and Atmospheric Black Metal with a lot of presence, long musical notes, slow rhythms and distorted deep riffs as well as the chords in the guitar line, in the company of a dark, mythological atmosphere, full of nature and on a few occasions with a discreet melodic change. A cover of a legendary band such as Type O Negative with a totally similar style, in all the songs there is elegance when listening to the musical composition and also in the company of the beautiful voice of Bárbara. The songs are very structured and continuous, there are no pauses between them or a song with a musical style very different from the rest of the album.

The Voice

Bárbara's voice is dominant, clean voices and high register, it remains in good harmonic form with the musical structural part and makes a perfect combination with the male grunts.

Uniendo post-metal, doom y rock psicodélico, wazzara es la culminación de una temática

proyecto en solitario del ex vocalista de la banda de Folk Metal, Caladmor. Tomando inspiración inicial de la poesía natural del agua en movimiento, los oyentes embelesados se han encontrado

conmovido por las ofertas de otro mundo, etéreas y mágicas de la compositora con sede en Suiza

Barbara Brawand desde 2015.

En 2019, Barbara colaboró con el compositor y músico islandés Árni Bergur Zoëga.

(Helrunar, Árstíđir Lífsins, Carpe Noctem), para dar al mundo el primer EP de wazzara, zessa. A

el show siguió rápidamente a principios de 2020, junto con Grift y Wolcensmen; el primero y el ultimo para adornar el escenario antes de que un largo y terrible silencio descendiera sobre la industria de los conciertos.

El proceso de escritura ahora iniciado para el primer álbum de larga duración de wazzara llevó a la exploración de horizontes musicales más amplios, incorporando riffs fascinantes y deslumbrantes en el legado de Paisajes sonoros melancólicos, soñadores y celestiales. El concepto ligado al agua se ha ampliado para descubrir letras frágiles, pero no afectadas que tratan de la vulnerabilidad y el sentimiento de fuera de lugar en un mundo donde la sensibilidad se considera una debilidad.

Un motivo lunar que nutre la feminidad sagrada e indómita también se ha tejido en hechizos para curar viejas heridas. Inspirado por las infinitas fases errantes de la naturaleza, Cycles elogia el final que siempre es un comienzo.

Un inicio atmosférico, lúgubre y oscuro, con la bella voz de Bárbara con un registro limpio y contrastante, coros de fondo, acordes fuertes y notas musicales largas.

Mænic

Tenemos un inicio en la misma línea musical, inicio atmosférico con acordes sublimes y batería muy discreta, la voz de Bárbara abre el camino con una bella extensión vocal y registro, en compañía de gruñidos agudos que dan más énfasis oscuro y pesado.

Inwards

Una canción con un poco de mayor oscuridad, pasión y fuerza en los instrumentos, notas largas y ritmos lentos y apacibles.

Obsidian Skies

Una introducción muy atmosférica con un coro desolador y muy llamativo! Acordes ásperos y agudos en toda la pista perdurando un poco más.

Antares

Una entrada acústica de guitarra, que eventualmente se une un acorde más fuerte con un tempo lento con la misma línea oscura y melancólica, un ambiente Doom excelente!

Fissures

Un poco de mayor energía y velocidad, una canción un poco más melódica, ritmos y la voz de Bárbara con mayor calidez! Notas musicales rítmicas y cortas.

Una excelente canción tributo a una banda legendaria dentro de nuestro genero Metal, Type O Negative.

Ancestral Bonds

Y cerrando fuerte dentro de su misma línea musical, denso, oscuro, con riffs agudos y profundos, llenos de melancolía, guturales y con un estilo más black metal atmosférico con mayor potencia.

Mi Recomendación

Wazzara band nos deja con su primer albúm completo, su estilo, influencias musicales, interpretación y composición lleno de Post Metal, Folk, Doom, Goth y Black Metal Atmosférico con mucha presencia, notas musicales largas, ritmos lentos y riffs profundos distorsionados al igual que los acordes en la línea de la guitarra, en compañía de una atmosfera oscura, mitológica, llena de naturaleza y en unas pocas ocasiones con un cambio melódico discreto. Un cover de una banda legendaria como es Type O Negative con un estilo totalmente semejante, en todas las canciones hay elegancia al escuchar la composición musical y al igual en compañía de la bella voz de Bárbara. Los temas son muy estructurados y continuos no hay pausas entre ellas o alguna canción con un estilo musical muy diferente al resto del albúm.
