Official Info

 

Heterochrome started when Arash Rezaei, and Mida Malek met and collaborated as the lead guitarist and vocalist in 2014. The band started recording their first album (Melancholia) at Chaotic Waves studio in Tehran, Iran when Mohammad Mirboland joined as drummer in 2016 followed by Armin Afzali on bass and Amir Taghavi on rhythm guitar who joined later on during the band rehearsals. Melancholia, which was a concept album based on Dante`s Divine Comedy turned dark, was officially released and distributed in 2017, followed by a one-night exclusive live performance of the album in Tehran in January of 2018. The band now consisting of guitarist Arash, vocalist Mida, and drummer Mohammad has developed a different sound for their second album "From The Ashes", with lyrics and music pointing out social and political issues of both their home country Iran, such as incarceration and criminalization of the metal genre, sexual identity and female singing, and on a larger scale, the world, such as the climate change dilemma.

The beginning of the album is energetic, with a line of prominent chords, the drums accompanies, maintaining a bit of the folklore of the band's style, combining clean and slightly strong voices.

 ب ادب ادک (Badbadak, The Flight)

​

We have a bit of the same line of guitars, rhythm and tempo, the chords are the most prominent and forceful, Mida's beautiful voice combines great with the guttural voice that accompanies.

Rage Against The People

​

A little more natural and stereo sound and style, now combined with a guttural voice and rough chords to give the song more depth and power, a bass line that gives it a little bluesy style, dense and dark.

WOTB

​

A good more experimental song, instrumental with a sharp and powerful riff, that very good medium blues and progressive style.

​

The Bearing

​

Starting with clean guitars, slow tempos and a more melancholic style, Mida's voice is soft and passionate, the harsh voices give him that dark and dense conceptual part.

​

An atmospheric and instrumental song, with narrative and male voice.

​

An acoustic song with instrumental parts and clean male and female vocals.

​

Opening with clean vocals and hard riffs, with a faster and higher tempo, with rough and clean vocals by Mida.

Opening with clean harmonized voices with a chord and drums with the same beat in the same key, combining the expressions of the harsh voices and in combination of Mida's voice.

My Recomendation

​

The "From The Ashes" album has a good musical development, with a more Rock/Blues and Progressive Metal style, it has good musical elements such as the line or guitar chords, high at times, slow, rough, and somewhat harmonic, no they are melodic in some passages, the drums sound very good but at times their sound stands out more than that of the guitars or on the contrary, the lyrics of the album have a lot of message such as social and political problems both in their country of origin, the criminalization of metal genre, sexual identity and climate change, among others, at times the rhythm and musical direction also change a bit, Mida's voice gives the song that beautiful soft, light and clean moment, the guttural voices heavy and dark part, also sung in their native language and in English of course, it's a good job done, hoping that the next production will further consolidate the musical style of the band!

Heterochrome comenzó cuando Arash Rezaei y Mida Malek se conocieron y colaboraron como guitarrista y vocalista principal en 2014. La banda comenzó a grabar su primer álbum (Melancholia) en el estudio Chaotic Waves en Teherán, Irán, cuando Mohammad Mirboland se unió como baterista en 2016 seguido por Armin. Afzali en el bajo y Amir Taghavi en la guitarra rítmica que se unieron más tarde durante los ensayos de la banda. Melancholia, que era un álbum conceptual basado en La Divina Comedia de Dante se volvió oscura, se lanzó y distribuyó oficialmente en 2017, seguido de una presentación en vivo exclusiva de una noche del álbum en Teherán en enero de 2018. El inicio del albúm es con energía, con una línea de acordes prominentes, la batería acompaña, manteniendo un poco el folklore del estilo de la banda combinando voces limpias y un poco fuertes.

Tenemos un poco la misma línea de guitarras, ritmo y tempo, los acordes son los más prominentes y contundentes, la bella voz de Mida se combina genial con la voz gutural que acompaña.

Un poco de sonido y estilo más natural y estéreo, ahora combinando con voz gutural y acordes ásperos para tener más profundidad y potencia a la canción, una línea de bajo que le da un poco de estilo blues, denso y oscuro.

​

Una buena canción más experimental, instrumental con un riff afilado y potente, ese estilo medio blues y progresivo muy bueno.

Iniciando con guitarras limpias, tempos lentos y con estilo mas melancólico, La voz de Mida es suave y pasional, las voces ásperas le dan esa parte oscura y densa conceptual.

​

Una canción atmosférica e instrumental, con voz narrativa y masculina.

​

Una canción acústica con partes instrumentales y voces limpias masculinas y femeninas.

​

Abriendo con voces limpias y riffs duros, con un tempo más rápido y elevado, con voces ásperas y limpias por parte de Mida.

Abriendo con voces armonizadas limpias con un acorde y batería con el mismo compas en un mismo tono, combinando las expresiones de las voces ásperas y en combinación de la voz de Mida.

Cerrando al compas y acordes de guitarras afiladas y la voz melódica y suave de Mida.

Mi Recomendación

​

El albúm de "From The Ashes", tiene buen desarrollo musical, con un estilo más Rock/Blues y Metal Progresivo, tiene buenos elementos musicales como la línea o acordes de guitarras, altos por momentos, lentos, ásperos, y algo armónicos, no son melódicos en algunos pasajes, la batería suena muy bien pero por momentos sobre sale más su sonido que el de las guitarras o al contrario, la letra del albúm tiene mucho mensaje como problemas sociales y políticos tanto de su país de origen, la criminalización del género metal, la identidad sexual y sobre el cambio climático, entre otros más, por momentos también cambian un poco el ritmo y dirección musical, la voz de Mida le da ese bello momento suave, ligero y limpio a la canción, las voces guturales la parte pesada y oscura, también se canta en su idioma natal y en ingles por supuesto, es un buen trabajo realizado, esperando que la siguiente producción se consolide más el estilo musical de la banda!
