Ignea is a Ukrainian symphonic/progressive metal band that weaves metal with Middle Eastern folk influences. Their latest feat is the EP 'Bestia' released on October 21, 2021.

Hello, thank you very much for this interview to all of you, knowing that you are in a difficult situation and I hope that this ends soon for all.
How are you and your families?
Ignea:
Under the circumstances, we’re ok. All of the IGNEA band members and our families are healthy and unharmed, so far. But there’s no safe place in Ukraine because of the war, so anything can get worse at any moment, even in the Kyiv region that has been cleared of the Russian troops.

I am glad to know that everyone is well
How are you working? Are you working in community support for the situation?
Ignea:
Since the day one, we’re been mostly working on the informational and financial front to help with fighting the aggressor. We donate a big part of our income to the army, the volunteers, and people who are in need because of the war. Some band members have been also volunteering. At this point, when it’s a bit more patient in Kyiv, we try to work as much as possible, because this is how we can earn more money to donate. Our government also encourages us to do so because we all need to keep the economy of the country going.
Some help pages like Patreon for you to continue with your musical work and support for the situation?
Ignea:
We’ve been running our Patreon page for more than 3 years now. Hundreds of people from all over the world have been supporting us through this platform, and a lot of new patrons joined since the beginning of war. We also managed to resume our merch store at the end of March and we’re extremely grateful to people for making us occupied with merch shipping for nearly four days. Again, not only our band survives because of this, but it also allows us to continue supporting our country in this war.
What could you tell us about what is currently happening? Due to a lot of misinformation
Ignea:
A lot of things change every day, it’s a very dynamic war. Thus, we’ve been posting short but most important updates in this post https://www.patreon.com/posts/update-on-in-62978480 since day one. So, if you want to be updated on the situation from the epicenter of events, check it out. This post is available for everyone, non-patrons as well.
How have the communications been from other countries within the musical field? Many bands in your country are on standby because of this.
Ignea:
You have to understand that many artists took guns and are fighting right now. Many of them are volunteering. Some of them have lost their homes and loved ones. Within the Ukrainian scene, we try to stay in touch and help each other if there’s such a need. And, of course, we received tons of messages from our fellow bands from other countries.
I think that after this Holocaust is over, many things will have to be rebuilt, maybe this is not the time to comment on this but are you working on a single or trying to make some music again? In some free time
Ignea:
We’ve been in the middle of recording our new album when the war has started. In terms of song-writing, the album is finished. At the end of this month, we’ll try to finish the recording at the studio if we survive, of course. As for the new material, we don’t really write nowadays. It’s hard to come up with words and melodies these days.
How has been the promotion of your last EP 'Bestia'? It has great songs!
Ignea:
Thanks! Because of the war, it seems like that release has been out ages ago. This was a split record with another Ukrainian band ERSEDU. We’ve seen a very warm response to this release and it would be really awesome to perform the songs live when the war is over.
Some of the songs on your EP that are your favorite? For the fans to ask for that song more!
Ignea:
My fav is Magura’s Last Kiss. And, if you read the lyrics, it’s very relevant to the current events. Moreover, at the end of 2021, we filmed a video for this song. It’s also finished and we’ll release it once the war is over.
I think this will influence your composition and creation of new music, will there be changes in musical style and lyrics in any future musical composition?
Ignea:
We write music how we feel it, so it’s hard to predict. But the war has definitely left a trace on us, and I think, it’ll acompany us in everything we’re going to do.
How can you support the music community with all of this? Any message of support or help that you want to say so that everyone can know more?
Ignea:
Listen to more Ukrainian metal artists, they really need your support right now. Check them out on YouTube, on streaming services. If you can, and if the bands are shipping merch, get some t-shirts, CDs, vinyl, etc. If you cannot help financially, keep listening and sharing this music with your friends.

Ignea es una banda ucraniana de metal sinfónico/progresivo que teje el metal con influencias folclóricas del Medio Oriente. Su última hazaña es el EP 'Bestia' lanzado el 21 de octubre de 2021.

Hola, muchas gracias por esta entrevista a todos ustedes, sabiendo que están en una situación difícil y espero que esto acabe pronto para todos.
¿Cómo están ustedes y sus familias?
Ignea:
Dadas las circunstancias, estamos bien. Todos los miembros de la banda IGNEA y nuestras familias están sanos y salvos, hasta ahora. Pero no hay un lugar seguro en Ucrania debido a la guerra, por lo que todo puede empeorar en cualquier momento, incluso en la región de Kiev que ha sido limpiada de tropas rusas.

¿Cómo están trabajando? ¿Están trabajando en apoyo comunitario para la situación?
Ignea:
Desde el primer día, hemos estado trabajando principalmente en el frente informativo y financiero para ayudar a combatir al agresor. Donamos una gran parte de nuestros ingresos al ejército, los voluntarios y las personas necesitadas a causa de la guerra. Algunos miembros de la banda también se han ofrecido como voluntarios. En este punto, cuando hay un poco más de paciencia en Kiev, tratamos de trabajar tanto como sea posible, porque así es como podemos ganar más dinero para donar. Nuestro gobierno también nos alienta a hacerlo porque todos necesitamos mantener la economía del país en marcha.
¿Algunas páginas de ayuda como Patreon para que sigan con su labor musical y apoyo ante la situación?
Ignea:
Hemos estado aplicando en nuestra página de Patreon durante más de 3 años. Cientos de personas de todo el mundo nos han estado apoyando a través de esta plataforma, y muchos patrocinadores nuevos se unieron desde el comienzo de la guerra. También logramos reanudar nuestra tienda de mercadería a fines de marzo y estamos muy agradecidos con las personas por mantenernos ocupados con el envío de mercadería durante casi cuatro días. Nuevamente, no solo nuestra banda sobrevive gracias a esto, sino que también nos permite seguir apoyando a nuestro país en esta guerra.
¿Qué nos podrías decir sobre lo que está pasando actualmente? Por mucha desinformación
Ignea:
Muchas cosas cambian todos los días, es una guerra muy dinámica. Dentro de la escena ucraniana, tratamos de mantenernos en contacto y ayudarnos mutuamente si es necesario. Y, por supuesto, recibimos toneladas de mensajes de nuestras bandas compañeras de otros países.
Creo que después de que termine este Holocausto, habrá que reconstruir muchas cosas, tal vez este no sea el momento de comentar sobre esto, pero ¿están trabajando en un sencillo o tratando de hacer algo de música de nuevo? En algún tiempo libre
Ignea:
Estábamos en medio de la grabación de nuestro nuevo álbum cuando comenzó la guerra. En términos de composición de canciones, el álbum está terminado. A finales de este mes intentaremos terminar la grabación en el estudio si sobrevivimos, por supuesto. En cuanto al nuevo material, realmente no escribimos hoy en día. Es difícil pensar en palabras y melodías en estos días.
¿Cómo ha sido la promoción de nuestro último EP 'Bestia'? Tiene grandes canciones!
Ignea:
¡Gracias! Debido a la guerra, parece que ese lanzamiento salió hace años. Este fue un disco dividido con otra banda ucraniana ERSEDU. Hemos visto una respuesta muy cálida a este lanzamiento y sería realmente increíble interpretar las canciones en vivo cuando termine la guerra.
¿Algunas de las canciones de su EP que sean tus favoritas? ¡Para que los fans pidan más esa canción!
Ignea:
Mi favorito es El último beso de Magura. Y, si lees la letra, es muy relevante para los eventos actuales. Además, a fines de 2021, filmamos un video para esta canción. También está terminado y lo lanzaremos una vez que termine la guerra.
Creo que esto influirá en su composición y creación de nueva música, ¿habrá cambios en el estilo musical y las letras en alguna composición musical futura?
Ignea:
Escribimos música como la sentimos, por lo que es difícil de predecir. Pero definitivamente la guerra ha dejado una huella en nosotros, y creo que nos acompañará en todo lo que hagamos.
¿Cómo puede apoyar la comunidad musical con todo esto? ¿Algún mensaje de apoyo o ayuda que quieran decir para que todos puedan saber más?
Ignea:
Escuche a más artistas de metal ucranianos, realmente necesitan su apoyo en este momento. Échales un vistazo en YouTube, en los servicios de transmisión. Si puedes, y si las bandas envían mercancía, consigue algunas camisetas, CD, vinilos, etc. Si no puedes ayudar financieramente, sigue escuchando y compartiendo esta música con tus amigos.
¿Algo más que nos quieran decir amigos? para el resto del mundo
Ignea:
No olvides que esta guerra está ocurriendo en el centro de Europa. Estamos luchando no solo por nuestro país sino por todo el continente. Necesitamos su apoyo.
