Greetings friends! I leave this new interview with a friend and Chilean singer Paula Vilches! has sung in massive gigs, like the Chilean National Stadium (Pista Atlética) or Teatro La Cúpula, and some other theatres in Chile and Argentina. She has also sung in some Festivals in Europe, like the Metal Female Voices Fest in Belgium and B:O:M Fest in Germany. She has performed for audiences from 50 to 25.000 people

Please tell us, what has been of you all this time?

 

Hi! first of all i wanna thank you for the interview. The truth is that during the past couple years i had many deep changes, as personally as musically. I had a big transformation and it made me think and reflect about everything in my life. I had to make hard decisions. I decided to leave Arkaos.

 

What have you made after leaving Arkaos?

 

I was in a kind of lethargy, making decisions about what i want and what i should do and then I thought about the style i want to work with. I decided to focus on my career as a solo singer.

I was working with new ideas, developing them and transferring compositions from my head to the computer. It hasn't been easy but i have not given up yet! I've been working a lot with my voice and i've been taking lessons of piano and guitar. This has helped me with my compositions too.

At this time i only have the half of members of the band and i hope to recruit the missing half very soon, i need to develop all details of the songs and then record them.

 

What happened with Arkaos? Why did you ended with that cycle?

 

The band goes ahead and i wish them the best!! but it wasn't what i was looking for nor what i wanted musically. It was healthier for me to get out of the band.

They are looking for a new lead singer and then release their new album, i would be happy if they need my help, if they need vocal training because their songs are very difficult to sing.

It was a hard decision cause i love them so much!, being with a band it's like have a new family and you make deep bonds with them. But i had to take other way.

 

Are you interested in other musical style? Are you looking for something more personal?

 

I don't want to have musical limits, even if i decided to play rock i don't want to have any limit! I want to experiment and try with new musical instruments, new rhythms, new concepts and finally, using ethnic sounds. I will let myself go with the flow, with what i'm feeling in every stage of my life.

 

What are your musical influences?

 

Basically: Skunk Anansie, Dead can dance, Skin, The Jaivas, Tori Amos, Pearl Jam, Alain Johannes, Devin Townsend and musical arrangements of Lana del Rey hehe.

 

How was your musical and vocal training?

 

I studied music, opera singing and piano. I had private lessons of popular singing with different teachers. If i practice every day i would be better singer, but i do not and i want to get better.

The more i practice the better i will be.

 

What are your plans for the future?

 

I'm full of plans, but i want to do it step by step.

I only know that i have no more limitations and i will get further than i've come right now.

I feel happier and fuller at this moment of my life and i know that every plan i have, i will achieve them!

 

Do you want to make other band?

 

I don't think so. I'm just Paula Vilches! I'm open to collaborations but still i want to focus in my solo project.

 

What do you want to transmit us with this new stage?

 

I think this time i will transmit better with the music, however i can tell this new project will be more personal and honest.

 

Do you have a job or personal project apart of this media?

 

I have two jobs, as a teacher of singing at a music school and as a instructor of pilates! Hehe

What surprises will you have for us the next few months?

 

Músic and video clips. Much interaction and movement!

 

Do you have a new álbum? would you give us a clue?

 

I will release an EP, first and then the álbum. But probably i will need to make a crowdfunding or something like that (i don't know yet). The style will be more rocker and the lyrics will be in english and spanish.

Saludos amigos! Les dejo esta nueva entrevista con una amiga y cantante Chilena Paula Vilches, ella ha cantado en conciertos masivos, como el Estadio Nacional de Chile (Pista Atlética) o el Teatro La Cúpula, y algunos otros teatros de Chile y Argentina.

 

También ha cantado en algunos festivales en Europa, como el Metal Female Voices Fest en Bélgica y B:O:M Fest en Alemania. Ha actuado frente a público desde 50 hasta 25.000 personas!

Cuéntanos que ha sido de Paula Vilches en todo este tiempo?

 

Hola! Primero que todo, muchas gracias por esta entrevista!

La verdad es que estos dos últimos años tuve cambios muy profundos, tanto personal como musicalmente, por lo que tuve una transformación bastante grande, lo que causó muchos planteamientos y toma de decisiones importantes. Decidí dejar Arkaos, por ejemplo.

 

Que has hecho después de Arkaos?

 

Primero estuve en una especie de letargo, tomando decisiones respecto a lo que quería/debía hacer, cuál era el estilo que quería trabajar, etc. Luego, decidí dedicarme al 100% en mi carrera solista. Trabajé ciertas ideas, estuve desarrollándolas, traspasando las composiciones desde mi cabeza al computador, lo cual no ha sido tarea fácil, pero no me rindo! jajaja!! He estado trabajando mucho vocalmente y con clases de piano y guitarra, lo cual me ha ayudado también en la composición. Tengo a la mitad de los músicos de la banda y espero muy pronto reclutar a la otra mitad para desarrollar el detalle y perfeccionamiento de las canciones y entrar a grabar.

 

Que sucedió con Arkaos? Porque ese cambio o fin de ciclo?

 

La banda sigue adelante y deseo el mayor de los éxitos para ellos, pero no es lo que estaba buscando, o hacia donde estaba apuntando musicalmente, por lo que lo más sano fue retirarme. Ellos están en búsqueda de nueva vocalista para sacar su disco, y por supuesto estaré más que feliz de ayudar si es que necesitan algo de entrenamiento vocal, ya que las canciones son bastante complejas de cantar. Fue una decisión difícil, los quiero mucho, ya que estar en una banda, es como compartir con tu familia, se crean lazos muy profundos, pero debía tomar otro camino.

 

Estas interesada en algún otro estilo propio o en la búsqueda de algo más personal?

 

No quiero limitarme a un estilo musical en particular, si bien es cierto decidí hacer rock, no me encasillaré sólo a eso, quiero experimentar e incluir instrumentos, ritmos y conceptos de diversos orígenes y por fin utilizar sonidos más étnicos. Además ir dejándome llevar por lo que voy sintiendo en las distintas etapas que vaya pasando.

 

Cuáles son tus influencias actualmente, musicalmente? 

 

Basicamente: Skunk Anansie, Dead Can Dance, Skin, Los Jaivas, Tori Amos, Pearl Jam, Alain Johannes, Devin Townsend, y los arreglos de la musica de Lana del rey, jajaja.

 

Como fue tu entrenamiento vocal y musical?

 

Estudié Bachiller en Música, mención canto lírico y piano, y posteriormente tomé clases particulares de canto popular con distintos profesores. Siento que si practicara todos los días y fuera rigurosa, sería mucho mejor cantante, pero nunca es así, y ese es uno de los desafíos de lo que quiero mejorar, mientras más entrene, mejor seré.

 

Qué planes tiene Paula Vilches a futuro?

 

Estoy llena de planes, pero quiero ir concretándolos paso a paso, sólo sé que ya no tengo limitaciones ni trancas, por lo que llegaré mucho más lejos de lo que lo he hecho ahora. Me siento muy feliz y plena en esta etapa, por lo que cualquier plan que haga, se concretará.

 

Con alguna otra banda?  

 

No, sólo Paula Vilches’ band ;) Obviamente no me cierro a colaboraciones, pero quiero enfocarme al 100% en mi carrera solista por ahora.

 

Que nos quiere trasmitir Paula con estas palabras, de su nueva etapa?

 

Creo que esta vez voy a transmitir mejor con la música que con las palabras :) Sin embargo, puedo decir que este nuevo trabajo será muy personal y sincero.

 

Tienes algún trabajo o proyecto personal fuera de este medio musical?

 

Tengo dos trabajos, soy profesora de canto en una escuela de música y soy instructora de Pilates en un centro de… Pilates! jaja.

Que sorpresa nos tendrá Paula en estos meses?

 

Música + Videoclips :D Mucha interacción y movimiento!

 

Si ya hay álbum, o proyecto, alguna pista nos puedes compartir?

 

Sacaré un EP como adelanto, por supuesto después vendrá el álbum, pero probablemente tenga que hacer algún crowdfunding, o algo así (no lo tengo claro aún). El estilo será más rockero y con letras en inglés y español.
