Inimitable singer Russell Allen (Symphony X, Adrenaline Mob) and acclaimed Swedish guitarist, songwriter, and producer Magnus Karlsson (Primal Fear, Magnus Karlsson’s Free Fall) have collaborated successfully on three critically acclaimed albums where Russell dueted with Norwegian singer, Jorn Lande. After a break in their collaboration on said albums, where Timo Tolkki stepped in and oversaw an album, Magnus has returned to the fold, but with an exciting new twist to the formula. This time, Russell and Magnus welcome none other than the amazingly talented Anette Olzon (ex-Nightwish, The Dark Element) to the fold as Allen’s vocal partner and offer up an unbelievable new duets album.

If you love Allen/Lande’s first three albums, but also Delain, Within Temptation, Nightwish, and the like (but with a slightly heavier edge), then this is simply going to be your album of the year for 2020!

Never Die

​

Super environmental and poetic entrance, masterful! Power of chords and sublime accompaniment of keyboard notes opening with the voice of Russell! A song with a lot of narrative and theatrical, with great emotional content, melodic power metal with a power of a brutal guitar Riff.

​

Worlds Apart

​

I love the masterful musical entry of these two songs, very emotional! Heavy and Melodic! Here we can hear the voices of both Anette and Russell! The sticky Riffs show us a wild way of super musical skill with those very attractive chords.

I’ll Never Leave You

​

Excellent entry! Melodically bestial! Chords perfectly coupled, heavy and with a great coupling of the beautiful voice of Anette! Soft and clean, majestic and unique, low and long notes, and with very catchy riffs, the final part is brutal!!!

What If I Live

​

Melancholic chords with a beautiful entrance of voices and choirs very emotionally charged, the voice of both is combined in a natural and wonderful way without a doubt, a ballad apparently with a musical picture with a lot of dynamism and feeling.

Lost Soul

​

The symphonic inputs and that combination of heavy chords and now more quickly, give a stronger and more aggressive jump to this song, melodic and outstanding, the drums open the way with each chord and compass in a masterly way.

No Sign Of Life

​

We start with a simple guitar chord in a very acoustic way, and then together with a blunt drums in the company of the beautiful voice of Anette and Russell, musical notes a little longer, the Riffs can not miss to give a little More body to the song.

A song a little different from the others so far, with a greater presence of Anette and her beautiful voice, a soft, rhythmic and light song.

My Enemy

​

We start very melodic and faster! With a harder rock sound this song! We find the combination of both voices of Anette and Russell, I love the combination of those powerful chords at times and that drums!

Who You Really Are

​

Strong musical input! Symphony, in the whole track we find this super accompaniment in the background, Russell's voice gives a great dynamism to this great song.

Cold Inside

​

Beautiful atmospheric and atmospheric entrance, very sublime piano notes, our lovely Anette making presence with a soft, clear and light register, later Russell's voice joins and makes a tremendous explosion full of emotion and feeling, along with a melody and rhythm slow and very quiet.

Who’s Gonna Stop Me Now

​

Closing tightly, an excellent entrance full of explosive chords in combination with Russell's voice, and in the company of Anette! Their voices entwine and alternate to give more enthusiasm and melody to each other!

My Recomendation

​

An excellent work together of both singers! Anette and Russell! A solid base of Progressive Metal, full of brutal, blunt or serious and low-pitched chords, when it makes a presence with those beastly Riffs in almost the entire album, with fresh and classic Power / Symphonic Metal, has a strong inclination towards a more melodic sound and what catches my attention as on the track 'My Enemy' with a bit of Hard Rock! But the style is more European without a doubt because of the melodic structure, the musical interventions are excellent with well-defined tempos as well as the voices of both at each moment.

​

The music and style is very generous! With infarct and Riffs chords that coined in each track a style of the album, modern in many musical ways for anyone who wants to hear these super combinations! There are few treble as I had said and we can hear it in each song by the scale they show us, the musical part compensates for that, so it extends the choruses in some songs a bit more like in the symphonic parts the chorus and long notes, The cover as it shows us Fire and Ice are present to melt your ears with a surprising musical and vocal battle.

The Voices

​

What can be said about each one's voice! Russell's voice is phenomenal and it is to speak of one of the eminences within this metal style, with a range and timbre that the same voice of him sometimes leaves behind those blunt guitars and that is very surprising.

​

The beautiful voice of Anette! It is another masterful voice! And it's another vocal eminence in the symphonic metal style! With a range and timbre that both come together perfectly, both handle a similar bell and we notice that when they sing along with each other at times!

​

Forcefulness and strength of Russell and the soft and melodic voice, masterful of Anette!

El inimitable cantante Russell Allen (Symphony X, Adrenaline Mob) y el aclamado guitarrista, compositor y productor sueco Magnus Karlsson (Primal Fear, Free Fall de Magnus Karlsson) han colaborado con éxito en tres álbumes aclamados por la crítica en los que Russell hizo un duelo con el cantante noruego Jorn Lande. Después de un descanso en su colaboración en dichos álbumes, donde Timo Tolkki intervino y supervisó un álbum, Magnus ha regresado al redil, pero con un nuevo y emocionante giro a la fórmula. Never Die

​

Súper entrada ambiental y poética, magistral! Potencia de acordes y sublime acompañamiento de notas de teclados abriendo con la voz de Russell! Una canción con mucha narrativa y teatral, con grandes contenidos emocionales, power metal melódico con una potencia de un Riff de guitarra brutal. 

​

Worlds Apart

​

Me encanta la magistral entrada musical de estas dos canciones, muy emotivas! Rudas y Melódicas! Aquí podemos escuchar las voces de ambos de Anette y Russell! Los Riffs pegajosos nos muestran un descabellado camino de la súper habilidad musical con esos acordes muy atrayentes.  

​

I’ll Never Leave You

​

Excelente entrada! Melódicamente bestial! Acordes perfectamente acoplados, pesados y con un gran acoplamiento de la bella voz de Anette! Suave y limpia, majestuosa y única, notas bajas y largas, y con riffs muy pegadizos, la parte final es brutal!!!

​

What If I Live

​

Acordes melancólicos con una bella entrada de voces y coros muy cargados emocionalmente, la voz de ambos se conjunta de forma natural y maravillosa sin duda, una balada al parecer con una estampa musical con mucho dinamismo y sentimiento.

​

Lost Soul

​

Las entradas sinfónicas y esa combinación de acordes pesados y ahora con mayor rapidez, dan un salto más fuerte y agresivo a esta canción, melódico y sobresaliente, la batería nos abre el camino con cada acorde y compas de manera magistral.

No Sign Of Life

​

Iniciamos con un acorde sencillo de guitarra de manera muy acústica, y después en conjunto a una batería contundente en la compañía de la bella voz de Anette y de Russell, notas musicales un poco más largas, los Riffs no pueden faltar para darle un poco de más cuerpo a la canción.

One More Chance

​

Una canción un poco diferente a las demás hasta ahora, con una mayor presencia de Anette y su hermosa voz, una canción suave, rítmica y ligera.

My Enemy

​

Comenzamos muy melódicos y con mayor ritmo! Con un sonido más hard rock esta canción! Nos encontramos con la combinación de ambas voces de Anette y Russell,  me encanta la combinación de esos acordes potentes por momentos y esa batería!

​

Who You Really Are

​

Fuerte entrada musical! Sinfónica, en toda la pista encontramos este súper acompañamiento de fondo, la voz de Russell le da un súper dinamismo a esta gran canción.

​

Cold Inside

​

Bella entrada ambiental y atmosférica, notas de piano muy sublime, nuestra encantadora Anette haciendo presencia con un registro suave, claro y ligero, posteriormente se une la voz de Russell y hacen una tremenda explosión llena de emoción y sentimiento, junto a una melodía y ritmo lento y muy tranquilo.

Who’s Gonna Stop Me Now

​

Cerrando de forma fuerte y pesada, una excelente entrada llena de acordes explosivos en combinación de la voz de Russell, y en compañía de Anette! Sus voces se entrelazan y se alternan para dar más entusiasmo y melodía el uno al otro!

​

Mi Recomendación

​

Un excelente trabajo en conjunto de ambos cantantes! Anette y Russell! Una base sólida de Metal Progresivo, lleno de acordes brutales, contundentes o graves y poco agudos, cuando hace presencia con esos Riffs bestiales en casi todo el albúm, con Power/Symphonic Metal fresco y clásico, tiene una fuerte inclinación hacia un sonido más melódico y lo que me llama la atención como en la pista ‘My Enemy’ con un poco de Hard Rock! Pero el estilo es más europeo sin duda por la estructura melódica, las intervenciones musicales son excelentes con tempos bien definidos al igual con las voces de ambos a cada momento.

​

La música y estilo es muy generoso! Con acordes de infarto y Riffs que acuñan en cada pista un estilo propio el albúm, moderno en muchos sentidos musicales para todo aquel que quiera escuchar estas súper combinaciones! Hay pocos agudos como lo había dicho y lo podemos escuchar en cada canción por la escala que nos muestran, la parte musical compensa eso, así alarga un poco más los estribillos en algunas canciones como en las partes sinfónicas los coros y notas largas, La portada tal y cual nos muestra el Fuego y el Hielo se hacen presentes para derretir tus oídos con una batalla musical y vocal sorprendente.

Ambas voces en un solo disco que puedes pedir?

Las Voces

​

Que se puede decir de la voz de cada uno! La voz de Russell es fenomenal y es hablar de una de las eminencias dentro de este estilo de metal, con un rango y timbre de voz que la misma voz de el a veces deja atrás a esas guitarras contundentes y eso es muy sorprendente.

​

La bella voz de Anette! Es otra magistral voz! Y es otra eminencia vocal en el estilo de metal sinfónico! Con un rango y timbre que ambos se conjuntan perfectamente, ambos manejan un timbre semejante y eso lo notamos cuando cantan a la par por momentos!

​

Contundencia y fuerza de Russell y la suavidad y voz melódica, magistral de Anette!
