Hello! My friends! thank you very much for this new opportunity!

 

Hello again Darkzen! It is a pleasure to have you interviewing us again!

 

Tell us! about you!! What surprises do you have this 2018?

 

In addition to our album Roma Delenda Est which was recently released at the beginning of this year, we have a new singer who also latterly joined the band and new dates in Europe that we will soon reveal on our official page.  

 

Tell us about your álbum Roma Delenda Est (2018)?

 

Roma Delenda Est is a concept album, it started as a requirement. We had so many different musical influences and each had his own personal touch, we needed a storyline to carve the thing, and it was surrounding us all the time, Carthage had all we needed, diversity and consistency.

 

We started writing it, the characters, the war, the victory, the expansion, the loss and the wipe-out. It all made sense, it was the opportunity to do what we do best, musical research and song writing. We’ve even gone as far as traveling to foreign countries and visiting multiple cities to gather traditional instruments and learn the way they played music, we needed it to be as authentic as possible in order to bring that era’s spirit and charisma. Though it all had a cost, the more eager we were to release the album the more we had to wait until we’re ready.

 

Will there be new videos about your new album?

 

Yes, a new video is currently our next step so we will hopefully start working on something very soon!!

 

Who is the new singer? Welcome! present yourself to us!

 

Hello there! My name is Nesrine Mahbouli and I am 23 years old. I am a Graphic Design student, a bass player and an Opera singer. 

 

 

What range of voice you have?

 

I am a lirico-spinto soprano with a vocal range of three octaves.

 

Darkzen:  Very nice voice!

 

As you train your voice?

 

I started classical vocal training only a year ago and I am always exploring new things about my voice as I try to experiment with various techniques while developing my own.

 

During the last few years, my experience in the metal scene has been from a quite different perspective, for I used to be known as a bass player when I was with the alternative local Tunisian-Serbian band Persona (2014-2017). Although, I can't deny that I have learnt a lot as a musician in the metal scene.

 

Therefore, my experience in rock/metal music as a vocalist is starting with Cartagena and I am pretty grateful about it not only because it is a quite challenging and a very beautifully rich music but also because it gave me the opportunity to meet such warm-hearted people and excellent musicians with whom I quickly became close friends, not just a new member of the band but a new member of one hell of a loving tight-knit family.

 

What surprises will you have with the band?

 

Cartagena has already so many different musical influences and each member had his own personal touch in the final product of the band so considering that I recently joined them, I am guessing the next album is going to be even richer with one more touch added to the work, but as you said, it is going to be a surprise :) 

 

What kind of influences you have within the metal scene?

 

Our music doesn't really have specific influences in the metal scene itself. It instead features a lot of classic instruments, and epic moments, at the same time the use of a wide range of scales and modes from different cultures makes it hard to classify.

 

We love good music no matter the style, despite the fact that the album features heavy, punchy guitars, fast drums and deep and loud bass as all fellow metalheads enjoy, and metal is always related to that kind of sound, the use of genuine classic instruments and traditional melodies somehow made it more gentle and easy on the ears. 

 

Our inspirations, alongside everything beautiful about music in general, go all the way from history to cinema to literature to poetry to philosophy… We try our best to mix our most relevant interests in order to express ourselves by creating a unique sound with a common goal to deliver our message around the world not only as artists but also as human beings and to be able to connect with people from all over the globe. 

 

 

Do you have a date for a Tour?

 

We do not have any scheduled Tours for now, just a few dates that we will reveal soon in Europe. Our motherland, Tunisia, the country that rose up from the ashes of Carthage, is known as an intersection of massively diverse cultures, which explains our wide scale of inspirations in our work, thus it’s like it is in our own blood to have the need to travel the world and discover various civilizations and cultures and connect with them, so we will surely have plenty of Tours on the way!

 

 

How do you feel being in the Female Metal Event FEMME this 2018?

 

We are certainly very excited about taking part in such an interesting metal event! We are truly feeling enthusiastic to meet our foreign fans and to give them the opportunity to attend a live show close to their home countries, and also to present ourselves to people who still haven’t discovered us yet. We are honestly confident about achieving our main goal which is communicating with as much music lovers as possible thanks to our broad diversity in our art. So we simply hope that the audience will have as much fun as we will while performing on stage.

 

Anything else you'd like to share with us?

 

Music brought us together, without it we’d never learn to know each other. We are very grateful to be working together to achieve common goals and we hope we’ll always keep doing what we love most, shoulder to shoulder as one family.

We also want to thank everyone that believed in our art and supported us.

Además de nuestro álbum Roma Delenda Est que se lanzó recientemente a principios de este año, tenemos una nueva cantante que también se unió a la banda y nuevas fechas en Europa que pronto revelaremos en nuestra página oficial.

 

¿Hablenos sobre su álbum Roma Delenda Est (2018)?

 

Roma Delenda Est es un álbum conceptual, comenzó como un requisito. Teníamos tantas influencias musicales diferentes y cada una tenía su toque personal, necesitábamos una historia para tallar la cosa, y nos estaba rodeando todo el tiempo, Cartago tenía todo lo que necesitábamos, diversidad y consistencia.

 

Comenzamos a escribirlo, los personajes, la guerra, la victoria, la expansión, la pérdida y la eliminación. Todo tenía sentido, era la oportunidad de hacer lo que hacemos mejor, la investigación musical y la escritura de canciones. Incluso hemos ido tan lejos como viajando a países extranjeros y visitando múltiples ciudades para reunir instrumentos tradicionales y aprender la forma en que tocaban música, necesitábamos que fuera lo más auténtica posible para traer el espíritu y el carisma de esa época. Aunque todo tenía un costo, cuanto más ansiáramos de lanzar el álbum, más tuvimos que esperar hasta que estuviéramos listos.

Sí, un nuevo video es actualmente nuestro próximo paso, así que esperamos poder comenzar a trabajar en algo muy pronto.

 

¿Quién es la nueva cantante? ¡Bienvenida! ¡Preséntate con nosotros!

 

¡Hola! Mi nombre es Nesrine Mahbouli y tengo 23 años. Soy estudiante de Diseño Gráfico, bajista y cantante de Opera.

 

¿Qué rango de voz tienes?

 

Soy una soprano lirico-spinto con un rango vocal de tres octavas.

 

Darkzen: Muy buena voz!

 

¿Como entrenas tu voz?

 

Empecé a entrenar vocal clásico hace solo un año y siempre estoy explorando cosas nuevas sobre mi voz mientras trato de experimentar con varias técnicas mientras desarrollo la mía.

 

Durante los últimos años, mi experiencia en la escena del metal ha sido desde una perspectiva bastante diferente, ya que solía ser conocido como bajista cuando estaba con la banda local alternativa serbio-tunecina Persona (2014-2017). Aunque, no puedo negar que he aprendido mucho como músico en la escena del metal.

 

Por lo tanto, mi experiencia en la música rock / metal como vocalista comienza en Cartagena y estoy muy agradecido no solo porque es una música bastante desafiante y muy hermosa, sino también porque me dio la oportunidad de conocer tan cálida gente de corazón y músicos excelentes con los que rápidamente me hice amigo, no solo un nuevo miembro de la banda, sino un nuevo miembro de una familia amorosa muy unida.

 

¿Qué sorpresas tendrás con la banda?

 

Cartagena ya tiene muchas influencias musicales diferentes y cada miembro tuvo su propio toque personal en el producto final de la banda, por lo que, teniendo en cuenta que recientemente me uní a ellos, supongo que el próximo álbum será aún más rico con un toque más agregado al trabajo, pero como dijiste, va a ser una sorpresa :)

¿Qué tipo de influencias tienen dentro de la escena del metal?

 

Nuestra música realmente no tiene influencias específicas en la escena del metal en sí. En su lugar, presenta una gran cantidad de instrumentos clásicos y momentos épicos, al mismo tiempo, el uso de una amplia gama de escalas y modos de diferentes culturas hace que sea difícil de clasificar.

 

Amamos la buena música sin importar el estilo, a pesar de que el álbum presenta guitarras pesadas y contundentes, baterías rápidas y bajos profundos y profundos, como todos los compañeros metaleros, y el metal siempre está relacionado con ese tipo de sonido, el uso del genuino clásico instrumentos y melodías tradicionales de alguna manera lo hicieron más suave y fácil en los oídos.

 

Nuestras inspiraciones, junto con todo lo bello de la música en general, van desde la historia hasta el cine, la literatura, la poesía y la filosofía ... Hacemos todo lo posible por mezclar nuestros intereses más relevantes para expresarnos creando un sonido único con un objetivo común para transmitir nuestro mensaje en todo el mundo no solo como artistas, sino también como seres humanos y para poder conectarnos con personas de todo el mundo.

 

¿Tienen una fecha para un Tour?

 

No tenemos ningún Tours programado por ahora, solo unas pocas fechas que revelaremos pronto en Europa. Nuestra patria, Túnez, el país que surgió de las cenizas de Cartago, se conoce como una intersección de culturas masivamente diversas, lo que explica nuestra amplia gama de inspiraciones en nuestro trabajo, por lo que es como si tuviéramos la necesidad de tener la necesidad viajar por el mundo y descubrir diversas civilizaciones y culturas y conectarse con ellos, ¡así que seguramente tendremos muchos Tours en el camino!

 

 

¿Cómo se sienten al estar en el Evento Femenino de Metal FEMME este 2018?

 

¡Estamos muy emocionados de participar en un evento de metal tan interesante! Estamos verdaderamente entusiasmados de conocer a nuestros fanáticos extranjeros y darles la oportunidad de asistir a un show en vivo cerca de sus países de origen, y también para presentarnos a personas que aún no nos han descubierto. Confiamos sinceramente en el logro de nuestro objetivo principal, que es comunicarnos con la mayor cantidad posible de amantes de la música gracias a nuestra amplia diversidad en nuestro arte. Así que simplemente esperamos que la audiencia se divierta tanto como lo haremos en el escenario.

¿Algo más que quieran compartir con nosotros?

 

La música nos unió, sin ella nunca aprenderíamos a conocernos. Estamos muy agradecidos de trabajar juntos para alcanzar objetivos comunes y esperamos que siempre sigamos haciendo lo que más amamos, hombro a hombro como una sola familia.
