Anthea is a melodic, progressive, symphonic metal band from Los Angeles, CA. The band aims to create coherent yet diverse symphonic metal music with many influences from film scores and established metal acts such as Kamelot, Nightwish, and Wintersun.

In 2015, after spending much of his time writing new music, Diego Valadez (Cellador) met with drummer Peter Vasquez (Angel Sinestro). The two decided to form a band, giving an outlet to the material that was already in the works. They recorded their first demo under the band name 'Anthea.' This was accomplished with the help of some very talented studio musicians filling in for bass, guitar, screams, and additional vocals. While recording, Anthea had been simultaneously searching for permanent members and were soon joined by guitarists Juan Pina and Marcos Mejia, as well as bassist Eric Guerrero.

With a combination of clean operatic vocals and black metal like screams, Anthea's music can appeal to a wide variety of metal fans. "Guitarist Juan Pina’s screams and Valadez’ clean vocals kept the dynamics interesting and brought out the extra push for something unique in comparison to what you would normally find in the majority of symphonic metal acts." - Jason Williams (Metal Assault).

Anthea has performed live opening for bands such as September Mourning, Helion Prime, Graveshadow, and Abigail Williams at some historic venues such as the Whiskey a Go Go and the Hollywood Viper Room. The band have also been featured on several podcasts, radio and television programs. Some members of Anthea have domestic as well as international touring experience.

We continue with excellent speed and energy! Power, Power Metal! Stronger chords fast tempos and we remain very melodic! Musically smooth parts and a combination of clean and growling voices.

Moirai (Feat. Chiara Tricarico)

A soft start, keyboards and with the introduction of the beautiful voice of Chiara Tricarico! The combination of their voices is perfect, soft and clean, the melodic part gives them an excellent atmosphere.

Illusion

The atmospheric and orchestral opening gives it an excellent musical entrance, we continue with the same energy and strength! Melodically they have a great execution without a doubt, hard chords and that short keyboard solo.

The Light Divine (Feat. Eric Meyers)

They start with a totally orchestral and metaphorical beginning, chords with strong scales, with a constant beat and the melodic part in good combination.

Discovery

Perfect musical entrance! Speed! At full gallop! High, rhythmic, strong and fast compass, we return to the combinations of voices, clean and somewhat serious, here the chords and guitars in all their splendor and technique.

The Expedition

Hard and distorted chords from the beginning, rough guitar riffs, a slightly denser beginning and a slightly slower and more constant rhythm.

Reflections

And almost closing the album they leave us with a ballad ending, totally dominated by keyboards, piano and with a soft voice with long notes in an atmospheric setting, with a melancholic and gloomy style, accompanied by chords and drums.

My Recomendation

A long-term, melodic debut album, with excellent musical combinations, there are different tempos that can be heard as Thrash metal briefly, they have a strong combination that goes from Symphonic Metal to Power Metal and vice versa, at the beginning they start very Power Metal and end very Symphonic Metal, that gives variety to the album! It has a lot of energy and speed, full of soft and strong keyboards, chords in the same way in combination of synthesizers and forceful and aggressive drums, a completely melodic album, with theatrical orchestrations as is the style, the combination of voices is also outstanding above all with Chiara Tricarico which is an interesting song, the band offers us an album full of energy, fresh and modern, we can hear the difference in the style of the band with that of European bands where the symphonic / operatic part has more weight, the sound of Anthea is harder and we can compare it with other greats of the scene such as Kamelot, Wintersun, Simphony X, Angra, Nightwish among others.

The Voice

The voices are excellent, the grunts, clean voice of Diego and Chiara Tricarico (ex-temperance, sound storm, moonlight haze) are in perfect scale and show us the skill and combination they can do with some other song, the beautiful voice of Chiara captivates and accompanies Diego at all times.

Anthea es una banda de metal melódico, progresivo y sinfónico de Los Ángeles, CA. La banda tiene como objetivo crear música de metal sinfónico coherente pero diversa con muchas influencias de bandas sonoras de películas y actos de metal establecidos como Kamelot, Nightwish y Wintersun.

En 2015, después de pasar gran parte de su tiempo escribiendo música nueva, Diego Valadez (Cellador) se reunió con el baterista Peter Vasquez (Angel Sinestro). Los dos decidieron formar una banda, dando salida al material que ya estaba en las obras. Grabaron su primer demo bajo el nombre de la banda 'Anthea'. Esto se logró con la ayuda de algunos músicos de estudio muy talentosos reemplazando el bajo, la guitarra, los gritos y voces adicionales. Mientras grababa, Anthea había estado buscando simultáneamente miembros permanentes y pronto se les unieron los guitarristas Juan Pina y Marcos Mejía, así como el bajista Eric Guerrero.

Seguimos con una excelente velocidad y energía! Power, Power Metal! Acordes más fuertes tempos rápidos y seguimos muy melódicos! Partes musicalmente suaves y en combinación de voces limpias y gruñidos.

Un inicio suave, teclados y con la introducción de la bella voz de Chiara Tricarico! La combinación de sus voces es perfecta, suaves y limpias, la parte melódica les da una excelente ambientación.

El inicio atmosférico y orquestal le da una excelente entrada musical, seguimos con la misma energía y fuerza! Melódicamente tienen una gran ejecución sin duda, acordes duros y ese solo de teclados breve.

Arrancan con un inicio totalmente orquestal y metafórico, acordes con escalas fuertes, con un compás constante y la parte melódica en buena combinación.

Discovery

Perfecta la entrada musical! Velocidad! A todo galope! Compas álgido, rítmico, fuerte y veloz, volvemos a las combinaciones de voces, limpias y algo graves, aquí los acordes y las guitarras en todo su esplendor y técnica.

The Expedition

Acordes desde el inicio distorsionados y duros, riffs de guitarra áspero, un inicio un poco más denso y con un ritmo un poco más lento y constante.

Reflections

Y casi cerrando el álbum nos dejan un final de balada, totalmente dominado por teclados, piano y con voz suave con notas largas en un entorno atmosférico, con estilo melancólico y sombrío, acompañado de acordes y batería.

Mi Recomendación

Un álbum debut de larga duración, melódico, con excelentes combinaciones musicales, hay tempos diversos que se pueden escuchar como de Thrash metal brevemente, tienen una fuerte combinación que va del Metal Sinfónico al Power Metal y viceversa, al inicio arrancan muy Power Metal y terminan muy Symphonic Metal, eso le da variedad al álbum! Tiene mucha energía y velocidad, lleno de teclados suaves y fuertes, acordes de la misma manera en combinación de sintetizadores y batería contundente y agresiva, un álbum completamente melódico, con orquestaciones teatrales como es el estilo, la combinación de voces es también sobresaliente sobre todo con Chiara Tricarico la cual es una canción interesante, la banda nos ofrece un álbum lleno de energía, fresco y moderno, podemos escuchar la diferencia del estilo de la banda con el de bandas europeas donde la parte sinfónica/operística tiene mayor peso, el sonido de Anthea es más duro y podemos compararla con otros grandes de la escena como Kamelot, Wintersun, Simphony X, Angra, Nightwish entre otros.

La Voz

Las voces son excelentes, los gruñidos, voz limpia de Diego y de Chiara Tricarico (ex-temperance, sound storm, moonlight haze) están en perfecta escala y nos demuestran la habilidad y combinación que pueden hacer con alguna otra canción, la bella voz de Chiara cautiva y acompaña a Diego en todo momento.
