Italian Dark Metal female fronted sensation FALSE MEMORIES, False Memories started in 2015 upon an idea of guitarist Francesco Savino, who got together with Valentina Pucci, the first singer of the band.

Moving on the band’s soundscapes got more mature heading towards an intimate kind of variously influenced Dark Rock/Metal; driven by its new sound, the band started to work on its first full-length release that only featured original tunes.

“Chimerical” was released in January 2018 as the first self-published album co-written by Savino and Pucci. This LP featured eight previously unreleased tracks and three original songs of the debut EP, for a total of eleven original songs.

In october 2018, False Memories completed their line up with Rossella Moscatello at the voice, Gianluca Zaffino on bass and Giovanni Cattaneo on drums.

In 2019 the band signed a record deal with “ROAR! ROCK OF ANGELS RECORDS”, which worldwide releases a new edition of the “Chimerical” album, that features three bonus track sung by Rossella which also are the three singles from the album.

The band is currently engaged in live shows and in the realization of the new album whose sound is leaning towards a prog influenced “Dark Metal”.

Hello and thank you very much for this interview and opportunity with you, Rossella! Welcome!

How are you?

Rossella:

Hi everyone! I'm very fine, thanks! It is just a pleasure to talk with you.

Darkzen:

Thank you very much for me same a pleasure!

Rossella! You sing very well and you have a beautiful vocal timbre, what has been your career in this musical genre?

Rossella:

Oh, thank you! You are very kind to say this! I have been singing for many years and I used to ranging in various musical genres, but I think this is my way since I have always had this gloomy soul! I have always been fascinated by dark world and by the macabre combined with romance. I find everything very poetic and touching but at the same time full of mystery.

Well you're doing very well!

Besides singing, do you have any other talent like playing a musical instrument?

Rossella:

I don't know if I have a talent in this, but I love playing some percussions, acoustic guitar and piano so much. I also use guitar and piano to compose music and experiment with them. I consider myself a very curious person and often push myself to improve my composition method. Then, recently, I started learning a typical instrument of Sicily (but which I think is now widespread all over the world) called "Jaw Harp" and I love it!

Do you have some musical influences and other favorite genres of music? As which?

Rossella:

Uhm, yes! I think we can easily denote that I have a modern singing approach. In the academic years, I have studied different genres and I must say that I appreciate a wide range of these. I love classical music, blues, soul music, I like to improvise on Jazz and Bossa, to have fun with funk… I mainly studied singing on popular music, so I consider myself a person who is musically omnivorous!

Darkzen:

Wow! You have many musical styles and very versatile!

Do you have favorite singers? Men or women?

Rossella:

I think a lot of female and male singers! But I will just mention a few, otherwise the whole Darkzen site will not be enough! Ahahah. I love the voice of Cristina Scabbia, the timbre of Jonas Renkse and Chris Cornell, I have always loved the soul that Freddie Mercury imprisoned in his voice making it magical... While I love Lady Gaga, Cristina Aguilera and Beyoncé in pop. Of course, there are voices in the world that I already love but I haven't heard yet.

Darkzen:

Yes I imagine! And I think my website would not be enough! You have many musical influences

How is the concept of Dark Progressive Metal for you? Mix of any Doom / Goth sound or?

Rossella:

For me the dark genre is a mix of doom and goth atmospheres up to a certain point. I think it's a more intimate and psychology-related genre, or so I mean it.

The Chimerical album is very sublime, dark and very conceptual! That combination of progressive/dark sounds plus your voice that captivates! Will there be any other videos from this album?

Rossella:

Thank you so much! No, just because we think that three videos are enough to give to the album the right representation of it.

Did you participate to write the lyrics of any of the songs on the album? If so, which is? Do you have a favorite song from the album?

Rossella:

Not exactly, but you can only find me in the lyrics of Incomplete Life because I wrote only that lyrics in Chimerical.

Do you have any plans to start working on a new album?or continue promoting their album "Chimerical"?

Rossella:

Uhm, we have already written a new album! This time, I'm the co-author with Francesco. We composed the music together and I took care of the lyrics. We left the rock component behind and we definitely embraced a decidedly metal sound, which in Chimerical presented itself as an influence.

Tell us about your plans with the band and what plans does Rossella have, As the world reinvents itself due to the pandemic?

Rossella:

Certainly the pandemic has not stopped us, rather it has helped us in some way to keep us more concentrated in the drafting of the new album. We are about to start recording the new record in the next few weeks. We are very load and ready to bring out the best in us! After the recordings, we will make a shooting and planning the creation of three music videos for the respective singles that you can see in the near 2021. In my personal plans, however, there is an increase in my individual work as a singing teacher. I am very satisfied with how things are going, I am very optimistic about everything!

Darkzen:

That attitude is the best for these moments!

Any new news for your fans? There will be some live online?

Rossella:

At the moment, there are no live shows online. We are very focused on the realization of our latest work. We do have news though. Before the quarantine, we welcomed Emanuele Cossu, who replaced Giovanni Cattaneo on drums, but the most recent news is the decision to insert the second guitarist as the fifth and last member of the band: let me introduce you to Moreno Palmisano!

Anything else you would like to share with us or say?

Rossella:

La sensación femenina italiana de metal oscuro FALSE MEMORIES, False Memories comenzó en 2015 con una idea del guitarrista Francesco Savino, quien se reunió con Valentina Pucci, la primera cantante de la banda.

Avanzar en los paisajes sonoros de la banda se hizo más maduro y se dirigió hacia un tipo íntimo de Dark Rock / Metal con influencias diversas; Impulsada por su nuevo sonido, la banda comenzó a trabajar en su primer lanzamiento de larga duración que solo presentaba canciones originales.

"Chimerical" fue lanzado en enero de 2018 como el primer álbum autoeditado coescrito por Savino y Pucci. Este LP presentó ocho pistas inéditas y tres canciones originales del EP debut, para un total de once canciones originales.

En octubre de 2018, False Memories completó su formación con Rossella Moscatello a la voz, Gianluca Zaffino en el bajo y Giovanni Cattaneo en la batería.

En 2019, la banda firmó un contrato discográfico con "ROAR! ROCK OF ANGELS RECORDS ", que en todo el mundo lanza una nueva edición del álbum" Chimerical ", que presenta tres canciones extra cantadas por Rossella, que también son los tres singles del álbum.

La banda actualmente participa en shows en vivo y en la realización del nuevo álbum cuyo sonido se inclina hacia un "Dark Metal" influenciado por el progresivo.

¿Cómo estás?

Rossella:

¡Hola a todos! Estoy muy bien, gracias! Es un placer hablar contigo.

Darkzen:

Muchas gracias igual para mí un placer!

Rossella! Cantas muy bien y tienes un hermoso timbre vocal, ¿cuál ha sido tu carrera en este género musical?

Rossella:

¡Oh gracias! ¡Eres muy amable al decir esto! He estado cantando durante muchos años y solía variar en varios géneros musicales, ¡pero creo que este es mi camino ya que siempre he tenido esta alma sombría! Siempre me ha fascinado el mundo oscuro y lo macabro combinado con el romance. Todo me parece muy poético y conmovedor, pero al mismo tiempo lleno de misterio.

Pues te va muy bien y se escucha!

Además de cantar, ¿tienes algún otro talento como tocar un instrumento musical?

Rossella:

No sé si tengo talento en esto, pero me encanta tocar algunas percusiones, guitarra acústica y piano. También uso la guitarra y el piano para componer música y experimentar con ellos. Me considero una persona muy curiosa y, a menudo, me esfuerzo por mejorar mi método de composición. Luego, recientemente, comencé a aprender un instrumento típico de Sicilia (pero que creo que ahora está muy extendido en todo el mundo) llamado "Jaw Harp" y ¡me encanta!

¿Tienes algunas influencias musicales y otros géneros musicales favoritos? ¿Cómo cuál?

Rossella:

Uhm, si! Creo que podemos denotar fácilmente que tengo un enfoque de canto moderno. En los años académicos, he estudiado diferentes géneros y debo decir que aprecio una amplia gama de estos. Me encanta la música clásica, el blues, la música soul, me gusta improvisar en Jazz y Bossa, divertirme con funk ... Principalmente estudié canto en música popular, ¡así que me considero una persona musicalmente omnívora!

Wow! Tienes muchos estilos musicales y muy versátil!

¿Tienes cantantes favoritos? Hombres o mujeres?

Rossella:

¡Creo que muchos cantantes femeninas y masculinos! Pero solo mencionaré algunos, de lo contrario, todo el sitio Darkzen no será suficiente. Ah ah ah. Me encanta la voz de Cristina Scabbia, el timbre de Jonas Renkse y Chris Cornell, siempre me ha encantado el alma que Freddie Mercury encarceló en su voz, lo que la hace mágica ... ¿Cómo es el concepto de Dark Progressive Metal para ti? Mezcla de cualquier sonido Doom / Goth o?

Rossella:

Para mí, el género oscuro es una mezcla de atmósferas fatalistas y góticas hasta cierto punto. Creo que es un género más íntimo y relacionado con la psicología, o eso quiero decir.

¡El álbum Chimerical es muy sublime, oscuro y muy conceptual! ¡Esa combinación de sonidos progresivos / oscuros más tu voz que cautiva! ¿Habrá otros vídeos de este álbum?

Rossella:

Muchas gracias! No, solo porque pensamos que tres vídeos son suficientes para darle al álbum la representación correcta del mismo.

¿Participaste para escribir la letra de alguna de las canciones del álbum? Si es así, ¿cuál es? ¿Tienes una canción favorita del álbum?

Rossella:

No exactamente, pero solo puedes encontrarme en la letra de Incomplete Life porque solo escribí esa letra en Chimerical.

¿Tienen algún plan para comenzar a trabajar en un nuevo álbum o continuar promocionando su álbum "Chimerical"?

Rossella:

¡Uhm, ya hemos escrito un nuevo álbum! Esta vez, soy coautor con Francesco. Compusimos la música juntos y me encargué de las letras. Dejamos atrás el componente de rock y definitivamente adoptamos un sonido decididamente metálico, que en Chimerical se presentó como una influencia.

Cuéntanos sobre tus planes con la banda y qué planes tiene Rossella, en lo que se re inventa el mundo por lo de la pandemia?

Rossella:

Ciertamente, la pandemia no nos ha detenido, más bien nos ha ayudado de alguna manera a mantenernos más concentrados en la redacción del nuevo álbum. Estamos a punto de comenzar a grabar el nuevo disco en las próximas semanas. ¡Estamos muy cargados y listos para sacar lo mejor de nosotros! Después de las grabaciones, haremos un rodaje y planificaremos la creación de tres vídeos musicales para los singles respectivos que pueden ver en el próximo 2021. Sin embargo, en mis planes personales, hay un aumento en mi trabajo individual como profesora de canto. Estoy muy satisfecha con cómo van las cosas, ¡soy muy optimista sobre todo!

Esa actitud es lo mejor para estos momentos!

Rossella:

Por el momento, no hay shows en vivo en línea. Estamos muy centrados en la realización de nuestro último trabajo. Sin embargo, tenemos noticias. Antes de la cuarentena, dimos la bienvenida a Emanuele Cossu, quien reemplazó a Giovanni Cattaneo en la batería, pero la noticia más reciente es la decisión de insertar al segundo guitarrista como el quinto y último miembro de la banda: ¡déjenme presentarles a Moreno Palmisano!
