Is an extreme metal band born in Galicia in 2008, and our friend Diva Satanica joins the band whose guttural vocal assault helped the band to more extreme territories. The current lineup was established in late 2012 with their first saw the light in early 2013. 

The Death Metal which features in its ranks Diva Satanic, very pretty correspondent of Heavy Rock magazine, and shows us the strength of his voice!

Tell us, who is "Diva Satanica" from BloodHunter"?

Simply, is someone with restlessness and who want to share them with everyone who is interested in the art. Somehow i've always tried to be related with the music, first as a fan and then participating in different projects. Like "Model Merch" for bands of extreme metal, as well collaborating in the "Heavy rock Magazine" and now as a vocalist of this great band.

I think that i've reached the greatest engagement with the music.

 

How do you trained your voice?

I tried to find the sound on my own voice but it didn't work out. I was hurting my throat.

Then i decided to keep searching with the help of several teachers of singing.

The teachers didn't show me gutural but they showed me breathing techniques, warming of vocal cords and diaphragm control.

Once you learned how to practice without danger to the voice, it's all about work and effort.

 

Who is Diva Satanica outside the scenery?

I have a normal life: I'm a nurse of psychiatry, a doctoral student, writer of heavy Rock Magazine and above all, i'm an unconditional fan of music.

 

Tell us, female singers that you like more and which one is your role model?

It's obvious that one of my first references was Angela Gossow, but once you know more of the discipline, you find all the richness.

I've learned with Candice Clot (ETHS) and i get inspiration in other artists like tristessa (Astarte) who was founder of the first female band of black metal.

Sabina Classen makes me dream of keeping this adventure for many years more.

 

You are model, journalist and singer. How do you handle it?

There are things that you give up because you don't have enough time for them. I haven't worked as a model since last year that i worked with Jeffrey Campbell.

Now, i just do sporadic jobs when the premise is "The art by the art". When all the madness of " Model merch" began, i found a reality that i didn't like.

A lot of girls who wanted to appear in the pages of the band at any price, they even fight with other girls to see who was the most worthy to get all the merchandising for free.

 

Why did you choose this musical style?

The Death metal! is one of my favorites. I like a lot of music styles but the truth is that i've found in the guttural, a perfect way to express myself.

I hate my voice in melodic! with this technique i feel comfortable to transform all that energy in a kind of art.

 

What do you feel at interpreting your album with all that force and anger?

That is something inherent to this band. We move on driven by the pasion and that makes the process of composition very easy.

I can't think about other way to do it.

 

How has been the acceptance of your album in Spain?

In Spain, the extreme metal is not very popular, it only work out at underground level.

We have received several reviews from people who did not like the style, but now they love it!.

We are full of  melody and that makes we can get another kind of audience. We didn't expect such a positive answer like this.

 

How did the band name arise? Your nickname "Diva Satanica" sounds great!.

We wanted a name that suggest aggressiveness and have impact. Is a word with a lot of loudness and easily to remember, it summarizes the essence of the band.

Besides, is the title of one song of Arch Enemy, of the times of Johann Liiva, is one of my favorites songs.

 

Did you write the songs? What is the meaning of the cover art?

I write the songs and i do the vocal melody, Fenris is the main composer of the music. The cover art was designed by Maggot Meister from "All things rotten".

She has worked with bands like Skullfist, Amon Amarth and Children of Bodom. We found her because she was working with the cover art of Astarte and we were impressed with her talent, her kindness and her availability.For the lyrics we get inspiration of this: Is like the arrival of a new kingdom, starting of the destruction of all things preset.

 

Any song that make you identify with it?

With all! i've tried to create a metaphor about our own reality.

Maybe "Ages of darkness" and "Bring me horror" are my two favorites, i really get excited every time we play them, there are full of feelings.

 

The video for "Embrace the dark light" is excellent! How was the recording? There'll be a new video clip?

It was incredible! it was a whole day with very bad conditions, we recorded in a abandoned train tracks besides it was a cold and rainy day.

It was hard but at the end it worth it. We hope to record a new video clip soon!.

 

There'll be a new tour soon? In Europe?

At the moment, we are working just at national level, but the truth is that we have received several invitations of other countries.We would be happy of bring our music to other places.

Es una banda de metal extremo nacido en tierras gallegas en 2008, y nuestra amiga Diva Satanica se une a la banda cuya gutural vocal de asalto ayudado a la banda hacia territorios más extremos. La formación actual se estableció a finales de 2012, con su primer trabajo de ver la luz a principios de 2013.

 

El Death Metal que cuenta en sus filas con Diva Satánica, muy guapa corresponsal de la Revista Heavy Rock, y que nos demuestra la fuerza de su voz!

Cuéntanos! Quien es Diva Satánica de BLOODHUNTER! El antes y el hoy?

 

Simplemente alguien con inquietudes y con muchas ganas de compartirlas con todos los que estén interesados en el arte sin etiquetas ni concesiones. De algún modo u otro siempre he intentado estar relacionada con la música, primero como fan, y luego participando en distintos proyectos como model merch para bandas de metal extremo, como colaboradora de la revista Heavy Rock y ahora como vocalista de esta gran banda! Creo que es ahora cuando he alcanzado el máximo compromiso con la música.

 

Como entrenaste tu voz?

 

Intenté comenzar a buscar el sonido por mi cuenta, pero no resultó, me hacía daño en la garganta…entonces decidí seguirme peleando pero con la ayuda de varios profesores de canto, que aunque no me enseñaron gutural, me enseñaron cosas imprescindibles para poder hacerlo como técnicas de respiración, calentamiento de las cuerdas vocales, control del diafragma…Una vez aprendido cómo practicar sin que resulte peligroso para la voz, es cuestión de trabajo y más trabajo.

 

Quien es Diva fuera del Escenario?

 

Llevo una vida de lo más normal: soy enfermera de psiquiatría, estudiante de Doctorado, redactora de la revista Heavy Rock y sobre todo, una fan incondicional de la música en todas sus acepciones.

 

Que cantantes femeninas te gustan más y cuál de ellas es tu modelo a seguir?

 

Es obvio que una de mis primeras referencias fue Angela Gossow, pero cuando una se va adentrando en esta disciplina, va descubriendo la riqueza sin explotar que existe. Aprendí con Candice Clot (ETHS) y me inspiré en otras grandes artistas como Tristessa (Astarte), que fue la fundadora de la primera banda de black metal femenino. Y cómo no! Sabina Classen me hace soñar con poder continuar en esta aventura por muchísimos años más.

 

Eres Modelo, Periodista y Cantante, como se puede manejar todo eso?

 

Hay cosas que se van abandonando por falta de tiempo y porque mis intereses ya no tienen que ver con lo que me pueden ofrecer determinadas actividades. No trabajo como modelo alternativa desde que trabajé para Jeffrey Campbell el año pasado. Ya sólo me dedico a hacer pequeños trabajos esporádicos cuando la premisa es “el arte por el arte”. Cuando se inició toda aquella locura de las “model merch” me encontré con una realidad que no me gustaba: chicas que sólo querían aparecer en las páginas de las bandas a cualquier precio y que incluso no tenían problemas en pelearse con otras compañeras por ver quién era más “digna” de llevarse el merchandising gratis.

 

Porque este estilo Musical, el Death Metal? Para mi es uno de mis géneros favoritos!

 

Me gustan muchos estilos musicales diferentes, pero es cierto que gracias al gutural he encontrado la vía de escape perfecta para expresarme. Odio mi voz en melódico, con esta técnica me siento cómoda para transformar toda esa energía en una forma de arte.

 

Que sientes al interpretar con esta fuerza y coraje tu álbum?

Creo que eso es algo inherente a esta banda. Nos movemos impulsados por la pasión y eso hace que desde el momento propio de la composición de los temas, te veas envuelto por esa vorágine de sensaciones. No se me ocurre otra manera de hacerlo!

 

Que tal ha sido la aceptación de su álbum en España?

 

En España el metal extremo no es uno de los estilos predilectos, funciona más bien a nivel underground. Aún así, hemos recibido críticas de mucha gente que no era fan del estilo y han ido a vernos a los conciertos porque les gusta lo que ofrecemos. A pesar de movernos en este terreno, estamos cargados de melodía y eso hace que podamos llegar a otro tipo de público. No esperábamos una respuesta tan positiva!

 

Como surgió el Nombre de la banda? A qué se debe? Y tu sobrenombre Diva Satánica, suena genial!

Queríamos ofrecer un concepto que sugiriese cierta agresividad y que tuviese impacto. Es una palabra con mucha sonoridad y fácil de recordar y resume muy bien la esencia de la banda. Como sabéis, es el nombre de una canción de Arch Enemy, de los tiempos de Johann Liiva, es uno de mis temas favoritos y es un buen ejemplo de lo que para mí representa ser la vocalista de esta banda.

 

Tu escribiste las canciones? El Cover Art de su álbum cómo surgió? Qué significa?

 

Yo escribo las letras y hago las melodías vocales, Fenris es el compositor principal de toda la música. Siempre se hace una puesta en común para pulir y mejorar ciertos detalles.  La portada fue diseñada por Maggot Meister de “All Things Rotten”. Ha trabajado con bandas como Skullfist, Amon Amarth, Children of Bodom…le encontramos porque se estaba encargando d ela nueva portada de Astarte y nos impresionó con su talento, su amabilidad y su disponibilidad. Nos inspiramos en las letras: es como la llegada de un nuevo reinado a partir de la destrucción de todo lo preestablecido.

 

Alguna canción con la cual te identifiques del álbum y porque?

 

Con todas! En todas he intentado crear una metáfora que aborde aspectos de nuestra propia realidad. Quizás “Ages of Darkness” y “Bring me Horror” sean dos de mis preferidas, me emociono mucho cada vez que las interpretamos, tienen mucha garra y al mismo tiempo están cargadas de sentimiento.

 

El video de ‘Embrace the Dark Light’ esta excelente! Como fue la grabación? Habrá otro videoclip?

 

Fue increíble! Duró un día entero en unas condiciones bastante malas…grabamos en unas vías de tren abandonadas en un día de frío y lluvia tremendos. Fue duro pero el resultado fue mucho mejor de lo que esperábamos. Esperamos poder grabar otro pronto!

 

Algún Tour en Puerta en Europa?

 

De momento estamos trabajando a nivel nacional, pero es cierto que estamos recibiendo muchas peticiones de llevar nuestra propuesta a otros países y ya estamos barajando algunas ofertas. Nos encantaría poder llegar a todas partes!
