The Canadian band Celestial Ruin is a hard rock band with world wide influences. Their sound combines heavy rock rhythms and riffs with catchy, singable melodies. The combination is "epic" by all accounts.
Celestial Ruin has shared the stage with the likes of; Stone Temple Pilots, Crash Kings, Sonata Arctica, Leave's Eyes, Dope, Moonspell, Atrocity and Omnium Gatherum.
They released their EP "PANDORA" that they recorded with producer Joost Van Den Broek (Epica, Revamp, Xandria) and their single SENSE OF EXILE has over 525,000 plays on Spotify after being released to radio in January 2018.
There new single Heart Shaped Ashes was released on all music platforms on November 5th 2019 and the accompanying music video on November 23rd.

How are you?
Larissa:
I'm doing great!
Larissa! Tell us a little about yourself! Your hobbies! Your musical influences! Let people know more about you!
Larissa:
Well, I've been singing and performing since I was 5 years old. I started with dance and then in Highschool, I attended a performance arts centre where I trained in singing, dancing, acting, martial arts (Kung Fu), taiko drumming and aerial acrobatics (specialized in Trapeze). I then attended college for musical theatre. After that, I spent 4 years as an actor/singer with the Vancouver production of Tony n' Tina's Wedding (Horse Raven Theatre).
In my spare time, I love to watch horror movies, read and oddly I am really good at crocheting. I love to travel with my husband Mike (our bass player). My favorite place to go is Disneyland.
I have a lot of different musical influences. I guess it all depends on my mood and the feeling I am trying to convey when I write a new song. I love Lady Gaga, Floor Jansen, Adam Lambert, Pink, Sia, and Sebastian Bach as far as amazing vocals go.
My favorite bands to listen to are In This Moment, Halestorm, Black Veil Brides, and Motley Crue.
You have a nice voice! What's your secret?
Larissa:
There is no real secret. lol. I had a bad vocal injury several years ago that resulted in me taking a lot of precautions to ensure I train and rest my voice properly. I have a specific warm-up I now follow as well as drinking Throat Coat (A Herbal Tea for swelling of the vocal cords), I use Glycerin Pastilles (like a gummy candy that lubricates your throat), Drink TONS of room temperature water and I know when to say "Ok, I need to rest now" lol. I barely speak on Show days and I never over-rehearse anymore.

Tell us about the experience of to be part of Celestial Ruin band?
Larissa:
Its been a hell of a ride so far! 9 years as a group! We have gone through so much as a band and we are really more of a family to each other. We fight, we laugh, we cry and we spend time together outside of actual "band time". I look forward to what the future holds for us as we start to take our music in a new direction.
Tell us a little about your new single ‘Heart Shaped Ashes’, who wrote the lyrics? How was the production
Larissa:
Heart-Shaped Ashes is my favorite song that I have ever written. I write all the lyrics and vocal melodies for our music. I wrote the lyrics about a past relationship I had. One that left me broken and pretty messed up. As bad as that time of my life was, I am grateful for it because it leads me to this point where I could write this amazing song!
The new music is all produced by Mike Plotnikoff (Halestorm, The Cranberries, In Flames) in Los Angeles. The experience of working with Mike was absolutely amazing! He is such a hard-working, kind and caring person! He brought out amazing things from all of us. I did things with my voice that I didn't even think was possible. We cannot wait to get back down there and do a full album.

Why has Celestial Ruin band taken so long to release this new single?
Larissa:
Yeah, I guess it's been a while huh? lol. Like many bands, we all reached that point of "What do we do now?" We got a new and amazing manager (Clyde Hill, Magnetized Management) and spoke with various professionals about the direction we wanted to go. We all decided a new direction was needed. The songwriting was different as we are now focusing on North American Rock. This entire process took time. In the end, it was so worth it! The new songs are amazing!!! we will be releasing more music in 2020.
A question that fans would like to know, will there be a new video, some new teaser or a new single? Some advance
Larissa:

Is this new single the preamble to the new album? Will have the same theme and sound the next production?
Larissa:
The goal is to do a full album with Mike Plotnikoff so the music quality will definitely be the best! There really is no theme for our albums. If the music feels good and sounds good we pursue it.
Do you have a tour in your country for this New Year 2020? Will there be any tour outside your country?
Larissa:
We currently have no tours scheduled but we are definitely in the planning process and are planning more shows for 2020.
Some news for your fans coming soon? What does Celestial Ruin band present for this 2020?
Larissa:
Our plans for 2020 is in the hands of our manager lol. We are definitely going to be releasing 2 more new tracks, playing more shows and hopefully will be doing some touring as well. Right now it's all in the planning stages.

Bueno, he estado cantando y actuando desde que tenía 5 años. Comencé con el baile y luego en la escuela secundaria, asistí a un centro de artes escénicas donde me entrené en canto, baile, actuación, artes marciales (Kung Fu), tambores taiko y acrobacias aéreas (especializada en trapecio). No hay verdadero secreto. jajaja Tuve una lesión vocal grave hace varios años que me llevó a tomar muchas precauciones para asegurarme de entrenar y descansar mi voz correctamente. Tengo un calentamiento específico que ahora sigo, además de beber Throat Coat (un té de hierbas para la inflamación de las cuerdas vocales), uso pastillas de glicerina (como un caramelo gomoso que lubrica la garganta), bebo TONELADAS de agua a temperatura ambiente y Sé cuándo decir "Ok, necesito descansar ahora" jajaja. Apenas hablo en los días del espectáculo y nunca más ensayo más.

Cuéntanos sobre la experiencia de ser parte de la banda Celestial Ruin.

¡Ha sido un viaje increíble hasta ahora! ¡9 años como grupo! Hemos pasado tanto como una banda y realmente somos más una familia el uno para el otro. Luchamos, nos reímos, lloramos y pasamos tiempo juntos fuera del "tiempo de la banda" real. Espero con ansias lo que nos depara el futuro a medida que comenzamos a llevar nuestra música en una nueva dirección.
Cuéntanos un poco sobre tu nuevo sencillo "Heart Shaped Ashes", ¿quién escribió la letra? Como fue la producción

Heart-Shaped Ashes es mi canción favorita que he escrito. Escribo todas las letras y melodías vocales para nuestra música. Escribí la letra sobre una relación pasada que tuve. Una que me dejó rota y bastante desordenada. ¡Tan malo como fue ese momento de mi vida, estoy agradecida porque me lleva a este punto donde podría escribir esta increíble canción!
La nueva música es producida por Mike Plotnikoff (Halestorm, The Cranberries, In Flames) en Los Ángeles. ¡La experiencia de trabajar con Mike fue absolutamente increíble! ¡Es una persona muy trabajadora, amable y cariñosa! Él sacó cosas increíbles de todos nosotros. Hice cosas con mi voz que ni siquiera pensé que fuera posible. No podemos esperar para volver allí y hacer un álbum completo.

¿Por qué la banda de Celestial Ruin ha tardado tanto en lanzar este nuevo sencillo?
Larissa
Sí, supongo que ha pasado un tiempo ¿eh? jajaja Como muchas bandas, todos llegamos a ese punto de "¿Qué hacemos ahora?" Tenemos un nuevo y sorprendente manager (Clyde Hill, Magnetized Management) y hablamos con varios profesionales sobre la dirección que queríamos tomar. Todos decidimos que se necesitaba una nueva dirección. La composición de las canciones fue diferente ya que ahora nos estamos centrando en el rock de América del Norte. Todo este proceso tomó tiempo. Al final, ¡valió la pena! ¡Las nuevas canciones son increíbles! lanzaremos más música en 2020.

¿Es este nuevo sencillo el preámbulo del nuevo álbum? Tendrá el mismo tema y sonará igual a la próxima producción?

¡El objetivo es hacer un álbum completo con Mike Plotnikoff para que la calidad de la música sea definitivamente la mejor! Realmente no hay tema para nuestros álbumes. Si la música se siente bien y suena bien, la buscamos.
¿Tienes una gira en tu país para este año nuevo 2020? ¿Habrá alguna gira fuera de su país?
Larissa
Actualmente no tenemos giras programadas, pero definitivamente estamos en el proceso de planificación y estamos planeando más espectáculos para 2020.
¿Alguna noticia para tus fans próximamente? ¿Qué presenta la banda Celestial Ruin para este 2020?
Larissa
Nuestros planes para 2020 están en manos de nuestro gerente jajaja. Definitivamente vamos a lanzar 2 nuevas pistas más, tocaremos más shows y esperamos que también hagamos algunas giras. En este momento todo está en las etapas de planificación.
