Regards! Thank you very much for this interview for Darkzen Dragon Metal Angels, Power / Symphonic Metal from South America, Paraguay. Ignys band leaves us their first EP: 'Vestigium'
IGNYS was born at the end of 2013 in Asunción (Paraguay). The band met while performing some versions of Symphonic Metal bands and in 2016 their final lineup is with Caro Henry (Voz), Albert Jiménez (Guitar), Carlos Páez (Guitar), Hermes Sánchez (Keyboards), Saúl Giménez (Bass) ) and Seba Ramírez (Battery).
Hello friends!
What is your story, what is the reason for making the band?
We have been friends for years. We started going to shows, where we met and when we realized how similar was the vision that each one had of what an ideal band would be like, we decided to stop thinking and do it!
We met some evenings to have fun playing songs of bands like Nightwish, After Forever, Tristania among others, until we decided to draw a new path for us: to compose our own songs.
The greatest motivation was always to transform the lived experiences into music and make them songs that other people could feel like theirs.
What are your musical influences?
The influences in the music of IGNYS come from symphonic metal, classical music, soundtracks and a bit of folk.
But if we add all the musical genres that each member enjoys, we would quote from extreme metal to classic rock (laughs).
Why the name 'Ignys'?
It is an approximation to the word "Fire" in Latin. For us it represents the power that we all carry inside.
The Vestigium EP is very good work! presents six songs with different subgenres of metal in my opinion when listening to it, because the variation within your EP?
Variation occurs because we do not think of musical styles when composing, we let the story in each song demand the musical elements that will best represent it. The result is songs with different elements, but all wrapped in the same "color" or group characteristics.
Power? Or Symphonic Metal? What does these styles mean to you?
As fans of metal, we understand the differences between subgenres but as musicians, these names are not so real. The bands only do their thing with naturalness, then the fans do the work of scrutinizing and cataloging each band (laughs).
From the artistic-musical point of view, if Stratovarius is power metal, Blind Guardian is also power and so is Rhapsody (90s) or Gammaray .. if the power metal genre is a real musical form, how is it composed? What elements do they do? The type of voice? The double hype? the letters? tempo of the songs? (laughs).
How was the production of the album 'EP Vestigium'?
The EP was produced throughout 2017, was in charge of Aldo Benegas in Blind Owl Studio.
It was a very revealing experience for us as musicians, we saw our abilities, we improved in teamwork and the most important thing was that we learned to overcome our own limitations through constant practice and commitment to our music. The recordings were regulated by the professionalism and perfectionism of Aldo Benegas, who advised us at all times how to achieve the best sound, the best expressions, the best of ourselves.
Carolina Henry How has your vocal training been?
I took private singing lessons with a friend who had some experience in rock singing and then I took opera classes with a recognized tenor in the region. At Ignys, my work is more about acting than singing (laughs), because of the very concept of the band. In this the work of the producer was very important and what he learned with the experience recording the EP will be reflected in the future debut album.
What vocal range do you have?
The vocal range in which I feel most comfortable is mezzo soprano.
Who writes the songs of your EP album?
In this EP we wrote the songs Aldo Benegas and I based on stories and experiences that I had to live.
Will the next album be similar to this EP, in musical style and sound?
I can not talk about the album yet but I can affirm that it will be as diverse musically as the EP and will also present new elements for the group. It could be said that it will be an extension of the musical style presented in the EP.
What goals does Ignys have for this year?
The main objective is to work on the album, not stop, to continue creating music for people like us who seek a deep connection with art or who identify with our songs! This creates a very important link for us and is what most completes us as artists.
For this EP album, will there be a video?
There will be videos! it is amazing the response that fans are giving us with our music asking for videos, so videos will have! (laughs)
Do you have a Tour in Paraguay or in other parts of South America?
Not yet because we will enter the stage of pre-production of the album, but we do not rule out a special concert when the songs of the EP are put on sale.

IGNYS nació a finales de 2013 en Asunción (Paraguay). La formación se fue reuniendo mientras realizaba algunas versiones de bandas de Metal Sinfónico y en 2016 su alineación definitiva queda con Caro Henry (Voz), Albert Jiménez (Guitarra), Carlos Páez (Guitarra), Hermes Sánchez (Teclados), Saúl Giménez (Bajo) y Seba Ramírez (Batería).

¿Cuál es su historia, que les motivo hacer la banda?
Somos amigos desde hace años atrás. Empezamos acudiendo a shows, en donde nos conocimos y al darnos cuenta de cuan similar era la visión que tenía cada uno de cómo sería una banda ideal, decidimos dejar de pensar y hacerlo!
Nos reuníamos algunas tardes a divertirnos tocando canciones de bandas como Nightwish, After Forever, Tristania entre otras, hasta que decidimos trazar un nuevo camino para nosotros: componer nuestras propias canciones.
La motivación más grande siempre fue transformar las experiencias vividas en música y volverlas canciones que otras personas pudieran sentir como suyas.
¿Cuáles son sus Influencias Musicales?
Las influencias en la música de IGNYS vienen del metal sinfónico, música clásica, soundtracks y un poco de folk.
Pero si sumamos todos los géneros musicales que disfrutamos cada integrante, citaríamos desde el metal extremo hasta el rock clásico (risas).
¿Porque el nombre ‘Ignys’?
Es una aproximación a la palabra “Fuego” en latín. Para nosotros representa el poder que todos llevamos dentro.
¿El EP Vestigium es muy buen trabajo! presenta seis canciones con distintos subgéneros de metal a mi parecer al escucharlo, porque la variación dentro de su EP?
La variación ocurre porque nosotros no pensamos en estilos musicales al momento de componer, dejamos que sea la historia en cada canción quien exija los elementos musicales que la representarán mejor. El resultado son canciones con elementos diferentes, pero todas envueltas en el mismo "color" o características del grupo.
¿Power? Ó ¿Metal Sinfónico? ¿Qué significa para ustedes estos estilos?
Como fans del metal, entendemos las diferencias entre los subgéneros pero como músicos, estos nombres no son tan reales. Las bandas musicales solo hacen lo suyo con naturalidad, luego los fans hacen el trabajo de escudriñar y catalogar cada banda (risas).
Desde el punto de vista artístico-musical, si Stratovarius es power metal, Blind Guardian también lo es y también lo es Rhapsody (90s) o Gammaray.. si el género power metal es una forma musical real, cómo se compone? qué elementos lo hacen? El tipo de voz? El doble bombo? las letras? tempo de las canciones? (risas)
¿Cómo fue la producción del álbum ' EP Vestigium '?
El EP se produjo a lo largo del 2017, estuvo a cargo de Aldo Benegas en Blind Owl Studio.
Fue una experiencia muy reveladora para nosotros como músicos, vimos nuestras capacidades, mejoramos en el trabajo en equipo y lo más importante fue que aprendimos a superar nuestras propias limitaciones por medio de la práctica constante y el compromiso con nuestra música. Las grabaciones estuvieron reguladas por el profesionalismo y perfeccionismo de Aldo Benegas, quien nos aconsejó en todo momento como lograr el mejor sonido, las mejores expresiones, lo mejor de nosotros mismos.
Carolina Henry ¿Cómo ha sido tu entrenamiento vocal?
Tome clases de canto particulares con un amigo que tenía cierta experiencia en el canto rock y luego tomé clases de opera con un tenor reconocido en la región. En Ignys mi trabajo es más de actuación que de canto (risas), por el concepto mismo de la banda. En esto el trabajo del productor fue muy importante y lo aprendido con la experiencia grabando el EP se verá reflejado en el futuro álbum debut.
¿Qué rango vocal tienes?
El rango vocal en el cual me siento más cómoda es el de mezzo soprano.
¿Quién escribe las canciones de su álbum EP?
En este EP las canciones las escribimos Aldo Benegas y yo en base a historias y experiencias que me tocaron vivir.
¿El siguiente álbum será parecido a este EP, en estilo músical y sonido?
No puedo hablar sobre el álbum aún pero puedo afirmar que será igual de diverso musicalmente como el EP y presentará también elementos nuevos para el grupo. Se podría decir que será una ampliación del estilo musical presentado en el EP.
¿Qué objetivos tiene Ignys para este año?
El principal objetivo es trabajar en el álbum, no detenernos, seguir creando música para personas como nosotros que buscan una conexión profunda con el arte o que se identifican con nuestras canciones! Esto crea un vínculo muy importante para nosotros y es lo que más nos completa como artistas.
Para este álbum EP, ¿habrá un vídeo?
Habrán videos! pues es increíble la respuesta que los fans están dándonos con nuestra música pidiendo videos, asi que vídeos tendrán! (risas)
¿Tienen algún Tour en Paraguay o en otras partes de América del Sur?
Aun no pues entraremos en etapa de pre producción del álbum, pero no descartamos un concierto especial cuando las canciones del EP se pongan a la venta.
