Bio Oficial:

Dimman is a Finnish melodic death metal band. They released their new EP called 152 who introduced Jenna Kohtala as singer. According to the band, it gives more variety on vocal arrangements. It was released in October 18th through Inverse Records and it was produced by Santeri Peltomäki.

Dimma’s line-up are:

Jenna Kohtala – Clean Vocals.

Valtteri Halkola – Harsh Vocals.

Jaakko Yli-Sorvari – Lead Guitar.

Mikael Haapala – Rhythm Guitar.

Elias Halkola – Bass.

Samppa Raittila – Drums.

Here’s the review:

Reverie Capsized: It presents an introduction with electronic elements in combination with other instruments which it gives more dynamism. In this song, guttural voices performed by Valtteri Halkola predominate and it complement each other in harmony with Jenna Kohtala's clean voice. The theme around in this song is about human greed and the damage it causes to our planet.

152:

A personal title, it’s my favorite song from the album. It starts with some guitars riffs played by Jaarko Yli-Sorvari and Mikael Haapala and together with Elias Halkola and Samppa Raittila made some powerful chords in company Jenna's angelic voice who compete with the guttural voices, later, a drastic change in the sound through a piano gives you that melodic part that is grateful to the ear. The combination of voices is like a duel because a sway of emotions is perceived.

The History:

As if it is an intermediate, this instrumental song is a pause in this musical journey. Being an EP whose theme is social, this melody allows us to reflect on what we are doing to improve the conditions in which we live.

Treason:

Performed completely by Jenna Kohtala, the chords of this song remind us of the darkness that characterizes the doom metal. I like this combination because this material is still versatile when listening to it, which allows the band to experiment with different styles without losing its essence.

Entity:

This song ends with the proposal of this Finnish band whose introduction is marked by the chords of Elias Halkola's bass accompanied by the piano with a combination of clean and guttural voices, Jenna Kohtala's intervention is presented as a interlude as if it were a musical work.

My Recomendation

The introduction of Jenna Kohtala to Dimman gives a darker sound to the comparison of their previous works, however, experimenting with different musical styles what gives the album greater dynamism. Finland is the cradle of great exponents of the rock metal scene in its different genres, so the influence received can be observed in its most recent EP.

Bio Official:

Dimman es una banda de death metal melódico originaria de Finlandia. Con la inclusión de la cantante Jenna Kohtala presentaron su nuevo EP titulado 152 que permitió agregar mayor variedad en la parte vocal. Este material salió a la luz el pasado 18 de Octubre a través de Inverse Records siendo producido por Santeri Peltomäki.

Esta agrupación está integrada por:

Jenna Kohtala – Voces limpias.

Valtteri Halkola – Voces guturales.

Jaakko Yli-Sorvari – Guitarra líder.

Mikael Haapala – Guitarra rítimica.

Elias Halkola – Bajo.

Samppa Raittila – Batería.

Aquí va mi reseña:

Capsized Reverie:

Presenta una introducción con elementos electrónicos que en combinación con los demás instrumentos le aportan más dinamismo. En esta canción predominan las voces guturales ejecutadas por Valtteri Halkola que se complementan en armonía con la voz limpia de Jenna Kohtala. La temática que aborda es acerca de la avaricia humana y el daño que le causa a nuestro planeta.

152:

A título personal, mi canción preferida del álbum. Comienza con un juego de guitarras ejecutadas por Jaarko Yli-Sorvari y Mikael Haapala que en conjunto con Elias Halkola y Samppa Raittila dan comienzo con una serie de acordes potentes que acompañados de la voz angelical de Jenna para dar paso a las voces guturales es una combinación fantástica, posteriormente, un cambio drástico en el sonido a través de un piano le brinda esa parte melódica que se agradece al oído. La combinación de las voces a manera de duelo es un acierto porque se percibe un vaivén de emociones.

The History:

Como si se tratara de un intermedio, esta canción instrumental constituye una pausa en este viaje musical. Al tratarse de un álbum cuya temática es social, esta melodía nos permite reflexionar sobre lo que estamos haciendo los seres humanos para mejorar las condiciones en las que vivimos.

Treason:

Interpretada en su totalidad por Jenna Kohtala, los acordes de esta canción nos remontan a la oscuridad que caracteriza al doom metal. Esta combinación me agrada pues este material sigue siendo versátil al momento de escucharlo lo que permite a la banda experimentar con diferentes estilos sin perder su esencia.

Entity:

Con esta canción se finaliza la propuesta de esta banda finlandesa cuya introducción esta marcada por los acordes del bajo de Elias Halkola acompañados por el piano con una combinación entre voces limpias y guturales, la intervención de Jenna Kohtala se presenta a manera de interludio como si de una obra musical se tratara.

Mi Recomendación

La introducción de Jenna Kohtala a Dimman le aporta un sonido más oscuro a comparación de sus trabajos anteriores, sin embargo, experimenta con diferentes estilos musicales lo que le aporta mayor dinamismo al álbum. Finlandia es cuna de grandes exponentes de la escena rock metal en sus distintos géneros por lo que la influencia recibida se puede observar en su más reciente EP.

Puntaje
