One of the most definitive things about Caveat’s sound in recent years is the addition of Amanda Marie Bourdon on vocals, leading to a duality with Greg Musgrave, which offers an aural dynamic that sets them apart from their peers: the ability to go from soft crooning to rip-your-face-off aggression, which is showcased in the upcoming release. According to the band, “Alchemy” has an almost soundtrack vibe to it, which separates it from anything that they’ve done in the past. They explain further:

“We are hoping that it will be received well. This will be the second album featuring Amanda Marie Bourdon, who first appeared on our last album Consummation adding her vocal talents on select tracks. This time around, Amanda’s voice has been utilized much more, she has been the front-woman of the band, which is a very different dynamic from Greg being the main lead vocalist since the inception of the band. That said; Amanda’s performance on the album will speak for itself, we think fans will really dig it.”

“Alchemy” is completely done in-house by the band, it was produced and mixed by guitarist Joe Sikorski and mastered by drummer Casey Rogers. It will be the fifth addition to the band’s discography.

​

Caveat is one of the longest-running metal bands in their home province of Alberta  and was formed in 2001 by Greg Musgrave with the intention of creating a band that could pull off both a full-on ‘metal’ set, as well as be able to go play a more laid back contemporary set of more eclectic material, but under the same band name with the same members.

​

Now Caveat’s fifth album, entitled ‘Alchemy’, is for released in early 2022, and once again Caveat promises to deliver a majestic metallic assault on the senses. Stay tuned and expect the unexpected.

Constant, fast chords, with a lot of dynamism, progressive rock and metal, the chords in full play and in greater control of the track, the style is repeated throughout the song.

Alchemy

They start strong and even faster, gutturals and clean voices from Amanda, combining eclectic styles, heavy death metal and varied rhythms.

Infinite

​

Starting strong, a little heavier and being a continuation of the previous song, tuned and hard chords, gutturals and clean vocals combined.

Black Mirror

​

Soft and acoustic sounds from the musical entrance, a bit of a jazz style, then they surprise us with a more progressive sound.

Ghost

​

Totally a progressive sound, with an excellent compass of chords and well-played tempos, radical changes with good mastery in its execution, guttural voices and clean voices alternating in a good way.

​

Until Dawn

​

Soft and melodic sounds, stylized harmonic rhythms and beats, a more relaxed song than the previous ones.

Zero Hour

​

Closing in a melodic, heavy and harmonic way, the combination of clean voices from both is great! High, rhythmic musical scales that dance along with musical note changes seamlessly.

My Recomendation

​

Caveat releases a heavy, melodic, harmonic, hard album, full of interesting beats, very well done and short riffs and sharp solos, an elegant and structured production, high and strong chords, more than anything with serious sounds, combining metal styles – progressive rock and death metal which have a bit of faster and groove metal oriented sounds like in Alchemy and Infinite, an album full of energy, clean, heavy and hard, with a technical and rhythmic metal with precise drums and guitars as well than keyboards, at no time does it move away from one another.

The Voice

The combination of 3 voices makes it interesting, clean male and clean female voices that give it light and harmony, with a clean and high register, and the heaviness is given by the part of the guttural voice that appears at times.

Una de las cosas más definitivas sobre el sonido de Caveat en los últimos años es la incorporación de Amanda Marie Bourdon en la voz, lo que lleva a una dualidad con Greg Musgrave, que ofrece una dinámica auditiva que la diferencia de sus pares: la capacidad de pasar de un canto suave a la agresión desgarradora, que se muestra en el próximo lanzamiento. Según la banda, "Alchemy" tiene una vibra casi de banda sonora, lo que la separa de todo lo que han hecho en el pasado. Explican más:

“Esperamos que sea bien recibido. Este será el segundo álbum con Amanda Marie Bourdon, quien apareció por primera vez en nuestro último álbum Consummation agregando su talento vocal en pistas seleccionadas. Esta vez, la voz de Amanda se ha utilizado mucho más, ella ha sido la líder de la banda, lo cual es una dinámica muy diferente a la de Greg siendo el vocalista principal principal desde el inicio de la banda. Dicho esto; La actuación de Amanda en el álbum hablará por sí sola, creemos que a los fanáticos realmente les gustará”.

“Alchemy” está completamente hecho internamente por la banda, fue producido y mezclado por el guitarrista Joe Sikorski y masterizado por el baterista Casey Rogers. Será la quinta incorporación a la discografía de la banda.

​

Caveat es una de las bandas de metal de más larga duración en su provincia natal de Alberta y fue formada en 2001 por Greg Musgrave con la intención de crear una banda que pudiera lograr un set completo de 'metal', así como ser capaz para ir a tocar un conjunto contemporáneo más relajado de material más ecléctico, pero bajo el mismo nombre de banda con los mismos miembros.

Acordes constantes, veloces, con mucho dinamismo, rock progresivo y metal, los acordes en total juego y en mayor dominio de la pista, el estilo se repite a lo largo de la canción.

Inician fuerte y aun con mayor rapidez, guturales y voces limpias de Amanda, combinando estilos eclécticos, heavy death metal y ritmos variados.

Infinite

​

Arrancando fuerte, un poco más pesado y siendo una continuación de la canción anterior, acordes afinados y duros, guturales y voces limpias combinadas.

Sonidos suaves y acústicos desde la entrada musical, un poco de estilo jazz, después nos sorprenden con un sonido más progresivo.

Totalmente un sonido progresivo, con un excelente compas de acordes y tempos bien tocados, cambios radicales con buena maestría en su ejecución, voces guturales y voces limpias alternando de buena forma.

Sonidos suaves y melódicos, ritmos y compases armónicos estilizados, una canción más relajada que las anteriores.

Zero Hour

​

Cerrando de forma melódica, pesada y armónica, el combinado de voces limpias de ambos es genial! Escalas musicales altas y rítmicas que bailan junto a los cambios de notas musicales de forma perfecta.

Mi Recomendación  

​

Caveat lanza un albúm pesado, melódico, armónico, duro, llenos de compases interesantes, riffs y solos afilados muy bien hechos y breves, una producción elegante y estructurada, acordes altos y fuertes, más que nada con sonidos graves, combinando estilos de metal – rock progresivo y death metal el cual tienen un poco de sonidos más rápidos y orientados con Groove metal como en Alchemy e Infinite, un albúm lleno de energía, limpio, pesado y duro, con un metal técnico y rítmico con baterías  y guitarras precisas  al igual que los teclados, en ningún momento se aleja uno del otro.

La Voz

​

La combinación de 3 voces lo hace interesante, voces masculinas limpias y femeninas limpias que le dan luz y armónica, con un registro limpio y alto, y la pesadez se la da la parte de la voz gutural que por momentos aparece.
