Nadeny, ¡A Mysterious Epitafium…

Greetings! My dear readers, I'm bringing you this interview and a small biography of a Mexican band Goth / Death Metal álbum that gives us a great musical quality and a very good voice technique, here some of them!

 

The band starts in May and June of 2011, founded by Charly Gracida (Guitar) and Nadeny (Soprano Lirica) having as companions to Vicente Aguilar (drums), John Vander (keyboards and guttural voice) Rafa Romero (bass), playing covers the beginning of Symphonic Metal as "epic", "Nightwish", "Therion", "Sirenia" and "Xandria"

 

Hello my friend, it is a pleasure to hear from you!

 

How have you been Nadeny?

 

Hello Darkzen, first of all i want to thank you for this interview and for the time you have given us.

I've been very well! with a lot of work and things to do, but very happy of see the audience interested in Epitafium.

It's a great project and i love it with all my heart.

 

What new projects does Epitafium have?

 

Until now the band stopped the composition of new songs for the album and also stopped the recording. Due to a lack of time from some members of the band.

However, we still don't rule out the idea to release something new by this year.

 

Our style probably will change but i can't say more about it, until we know what is going to happen with the band members.

We need to get together and talk about this new phase of Epitafium.

 

Tell us more about your last album ''Sueños y Realidades'',There will be some new video?

''Sueños y Realidades'' absolutely marked the life of Epitafium.

 

This álbum was the watershed of being well known through many states in the country and also it was well received within the audience.

Honestly, we didn't imagine the impact that we have achieved and i'm sure that people are expecting something even better for the next album.

 

About a new video, we decided waiting for the release of our next single.

We have already chosen the song that is going to represent the album.

We haven't had the time for recording, but you can already listen this single in our live performances.

 

Tell me, How was the acceptance of the álbum within mexican audience?

 

As i said before, we were surprised by the acceptance of the audience because we are a Young Band. We have almost 4 years as a band.

We were like strangers but our good friends gave us the opportunity of introduce our music at their concerts.

 

People were accepting us better and our style was also accepted.

At first it was confusing to define our genre, even for ourselves, because some people said our style was ''Gothic metal''.

 

Some other said it was Gothic Death or Symphonic Metal.

It is really funny because we think our genre is extreme metal but either way, we play metal and we hope people like it.

 

What are your musical influences? In and out Rock and Metal.

 

I could say my biggest influence is Evanescence, i met them when i was 15 years and my brother brought their CD.

He didn't know what genre they were and i got surprised because they became in one of my favourite bands.

 

In that moment i didn't know about the existence of metal music and its sub genres. Now i can realize that their music was main influence for the composition of ''Sueños y Realidades''.

Also i've been influenced by: Crysalys, Epica, Therion, Sirenia and of course the famous soprano, Sarah Brightman.

 

I like listening rock bands like: Guns and Roses, Queen, Nirvana and many others.

And of course i love Opera and classical música!

 

What are your Hobbies?

 

Something i really love is being with my family, i enjoy walking in a park or into a forest.

I like go to the movies or maybe watch some films in my house and of course, eating popcorns.

 

On stage i like to interact with the audience, making them sing, clapping, jumping and moving the head.

 

Why did you choose this genre?

 

I think all music is beautiful, it's an universal language and every genre have something special.

 

But metal music has an special magic, it makes you vibrate with its riffs and its powerful bass.

As well as its scary gutturals and the sweet voice of a soprano.

 

You can mix all this even with classical music, so i was captivated and i said to my self why shouldn't try this?. So i decided study Bell Canto.

 

How has been your vocal and musical training?

 

Tell us a little bit more about you.

I studied in a school of fine arts. In year 2010 i started with a studio of Bell Canto and then with a career, which unfortunately i couldn't finish for personal issues.

 

However i kept taking lessons of Bell Canto an also exercises that help my voice.

But i know there is much more to learn!.

 

What can you say about Epitafium? What would you want to transmit?

 

In this year 2016 we want to reinforce all band members, then we want to finish the second album and then release it.

We want people to stay with a good taste after listening our álbum.

 

Please, be patient with us. Just remember that good things take time.

 

Will be there a tour or a surprise for mexican people?

 

We were surprised by the notice that next february 27 we're going to play with El cuervo de Poe at Nuevo Cosa Nostra Bar in Mexico City.

 

We are really excited about this and we hope to see well known faces there.

After that we're planning some dates with our manager but what we really want is to hurry up with the second album.

 

So i think we won't travel for the next months.

Who writes the songs?

 

Talking about music composition, Charly (guitarist) is who takes care about it.

He makes the foundations of the melodies, and then with Leo (bass) and Satoshi (drums), together they make the arrangements.

 

Most of the lyrics are written by me but some others are written by Charly.

Although Lalo is who is getting involved in the lyrics of next album.

 

What is your inspiration to create lyrics? What is the main theme of the album?

Our main inspiration was actually the name of the band.

 

The meaning of Epitafium, we realized that human being can be remembered in life and in death, in dreams and in reality. Each person has different livings.

 

The main theme talks about dreams we have had, as well as actual livings that are happening today.

 

Also talks about things that might be happen and of course, the consequences of your own acts.

The melody of each song has a connection with the meaning of the lyric.

Every song wants to transmit something.

 

Every lyric is different and depends on every person give it a meaning.

 

What is the theme of the next album? Would you give us a preview?

 

This question is really exciting, because talk about our next album makes me nervous.

I can't really say much about this, but you must know that it will be an album tribute to Tolkien.

 

Almost every band member is fan of his stories and his work.

I can say that our next album will make you travel in a world of fantasy and it will be a journey full of musical power.

 

I hope reveal more details soon.

 

Why we should listen to Epitafium?

 

I think Epitafium has created its own style, because when you're listening our music you can travel into places you wouldn't imagine.

 

You can feel emotions you have never felt and of course, our music will make you move the head.

 

Would you like to share something else with us?

 

We want to thank people who has followed us since the beginning of this dream.

We know there are many things left, a big path to walk on, many places to meet and many hearts to win.

 

Also we know that metal scene in México has not much support but still we have had the best experiences of our lives. We want to be part of your musical taste.

 

We will improve and prepare ourselves to create good music.

Nadeny, ¡Un Misterioso Epitafium…

Saludos! Mis amigos lectores, aquí les traigo la entrevista y una pequeña biografía de la banda Mexicana de Goth/Death Metal, con una técnica en voz muy buena!

 

La banda inicia entre mayo y junio del 2011, fundada por Charly Gracida (Guitarra) y Nadeny (Soprano Lirica) teniendo como compañeros a Vicente Aguilar (Batería), John Vander (teclados y voz gutural), Rafa Romero (Bajo), tocando en sus inicios covers de Metal Sinfónico como “Épica”, “Nightwish”, “Therion”, “Sirenia” y “Xandria”.

¿Cómo has estado Nadeny?

 

Hola “Darkzen”! Antes que nada muchas gracias por tomarte el tiempo de conocer más de la banda y gracias por la entrevista. Estoy muy bien, con algo de trabajo y cosas por hacer pero muy felíz de saber que siguen interesados en Epitafium ya que es un gran proyecto que amo con el corazón.

 

¿Qué proyectos nuevos tiene la banda Epitafium?

 

Hasta este momento la banda detuvo la composición de los temas para el nuevo álbum y por consiguiente las grabaciones debido a la falta de tiempo de algunos de los integrantes, sin embargo no descartamos la idea de dar a conocer algo nuevo para este año. Probablemente cambie un poco el estilo pero no puedo adelantar mucho hasta no estar segura de que pasara con los integrantes, debemos tener una reunión con todos para definir esta nueva etapa de Epitafium.

 

¿Cuéntanos de su último álbum ‘Sueños y Realidades’ algún nuevo video de este álbum?

 

“Sueños y Realidades” marcó por completo la vida de Epitafium, este álbum fue el parteaguas para darnos a conocer en varios estados del país y fue muy bien recibido por la audiencia, sinceramente nunca nos imaginaos el impacto que se logró y estoy segura de que esperan algo aún mejor para el siguiente álbum. En cuanto a filmar algún otro video decidimos esperar para promocionar el siguiente sencillo del segundo álbum, de hecho ya tenemos la canción que lo representara pero no hemos podido darnos el tiempo de iniciar las grabaciones, incluso pueden escuchar ya este sencillo en nuestras presentaciones en vivo.

 

 

¿Qué tal la aceptación de su álbum en la audiencia Mexicana? 

 

Como te comentaba en la respuesta anterior nos sorprendimos mucho de la aceptación que tuvimos de parte de la audiencia debido a que relativamente somos una “banda nueva o joven” ya que apneas vamos para el 4to año desde que se creó la banda, éramos totalmente desconocidos pero gracias a buenos amigos quienes nos dieron la oportunidad de presentarnos en sus conciertos y/o eventos, la gente nos fue conociendo y fue aceptando también nuestro estilo ya que al principio era algo confuso definir el género como tal de Epitafium incluso ni nosotros mismo sabíamos cómo llamarlo jajaja  algunas personas dicen que nuestro estilo es “Gothic Metal”,  otras “Gothic Death”,  algunas otras dicen “Simphonic Metal” y es muy gracioso por qué nosotros decimos que es algo como “Extream Metal” pero el punto es que tocamos “Metal” jajaja y esperamos que sigamos estando en el gusto de las personas.

 

¿Cuáles son tus influencias musicales dentro y fuera del Rock/Metal?

 

Podría decir que una de mis grandes influencias fue la banda Evanescence, yo los conocí cuando tenía 15 años gracias a que mi hermano compro un CD de ellos sin conocer el género que tocaban pero para mi sorpresa se convirtieron en una de mis bandas favoritas y hasta ese momento desconocía la existencia del Metal y sus subgéneros posterior mente los fui conociendo y puedo decir que fueron una gran influencia para la composición de “Sueños y Realidades” las bandas: Crysalys, Epica, Therion y Sirenia y por supuesto la famosa soprano Sarah Brigthman. También disfruto mucho escuchar bandas de rock como Guns and Roses, Queen, Nirvana, entre otros. Y por supuesto amo la ópera y la música clásica.

 

¿Cuáles son tus Hobbies dentro y fuera del escenario?

 

Algo que sin duda amo hacer es estar con la familia, disfrutar de un buen paseo en algún parque o bosque o simplemente ir al cine o disfrutar de buenos films en casa comiendo palomitas. En el escenario disfruto mucho interactuar con el público, ponerlos a cantar, aplaudir, saltar, mover la cabeza,  etc.  es genial!

 

¿Por qué este género musical Nadeny? ¿Qué te llevo a estar dentro de las filas de este estilo en especial?

 

Sin duda la música en general es hermosa, es un lenguaje universal y sus géneros tienen cada uno algo en especial pero el Metal en particular tiene esa magia de poder hacerte vibrar ya sea por un riff  estruendoso,  por un bombo poderoso, un gutural de miedo hasta llegar a una voz dulce como la de una soprano y el hecho de poder combinar todo eso e incluso combinarlo con la música clásica me cautivo por completo y me dije “por qué no intentarlo” y por es decidí estudiar “Bell Canto”.

 

¿Cómo ha sido tu entrenamiento vocal y musical? Cuéntanos un poco de ti!

 

 Yo ingrese a una escuela de bellas artes en el año 2010,  inicie con un taller de “Bell Canto”  y posteriormente la carrera técnica la cual no concluí debido a situaciones personales. Sin embargo continúe tomando clases particulares de Bell Canto y práctico también algunos ejercicios en casa que me ayudan a mantener la voz en forma aunque aún hay mucho que me falta por pulir y aprender.

 

¿Epitafium, que nos puede decir la banda, que nos brinda, que quiere trasmitirnos para este 2016?

 

Para este 2016 queremos que Epitafium refuerce primero que nada a sus integrantes, queremos también poder concluir con el segundo álbum y darlo a conocer lo antes posible. Queremos que la gente se quede con un buen sabor de boca después de escuchar el nuevo material por eso les pedimos que nos tengan paciencia ya que las mejores cosas llevan su tiempo. 

 

¿Alguna sorpresa o tour próximamente, en la República Mexicana?

 

Bueno realmente la sorpresa fue para nosotros ya que este próximo 27 de febrero nos presentaremos junto con el “Cuervo de Poe” en el bar llamado “Nuevo Cosa Nostra” en la ahora Ciudad de México y realmente estamos muy emocionados y esperamos ver caritas conocidas por allá. Posteriormente vamos a planear algunas fechas con nuestro manager pero si queremos dedicarnos a terminar el nuevo álbum será poco probable que viajemos en los próximos meses. De cualquier forma estaremos publicando en la página oficial de Facebook si surge alguna fecha y esperamos contar con su asistencia.

 

 

¿Quién escribe algunas de las canciones de Epitafium?

 

En cuanto a la composición de la música la batuta la lleva Charly (guitarrista), él es quien compone la base de las melodías y después en conjunto con Leo (bajo) y Satoshi (batería) hacen los arreglos para las mismas. La mayoría de las letras las he escrito yo y algunas Charly aunque actualmente se está involucrando Lalo (voz gutural) en las letras para el nuevo material.

 

¿Cuál es la inspiración al hacer las canciones y la temática del álbum, musicalmente también?

 

La principal inspiración fue de hecho el nombre que llevamos como banda,  el significado del Epitafio nos llevó a darnos cuenta de que los seres humanos podemos ser recordados tanto en la vida como en la muerte, tanto en los sueños como en la realidad y que cada persona tiene vivencias diferentes. La temática en si habla de los sueños qué ha experimentado la persona así como las vivencias reales que están ocurriendo o podrían pasar algo así como las consecuencias de los actos y por supuesto la melodía de cada canción va ligada con la intención que la letra quiere transmitir. En sí cada letra es diferente y dependerá de lo que esté viviendo cada persona para interpretarla. 

 

¿Cuál será la temática del próximo álbum? ¿Algún preview que nos puedas decir?

 

Esta pregunta me entusiasma mucho, hablar del nuevo álbum hace que se me ponga “la piel de gallina” jajajaja.  No puedo adelantar mucho pero lo que si les puedo decir es que será un disco dedicado a Tolkien ya que algunos de los integrantes somos súper fans de sus historias, les puedo decir que los hará viajar a un mundo de fantasía y será un viaje lleno de poder musical. Espero poder dar más detalles próximamente.

 

¿Por qué tenemos que escuchar a Epitafium?

 

Pienso que Epitafium ha creado su propio estilo, ya que al momento de escuchar su música te puede transportar a lugares que nunca imaginaste y puede hacerte sentir emociones que nunca experimentaste además de hacerte mover mucho la cabeza jajajaja.

 

¿Algo más que nos quieran compartir?

 

Queremos agradecer mucho a todas las personas que nos han seguido desde el inicio de este gran sueño, sabemos que nos falta un camino muy grande por recorrer, muchos lugares a los que queremos llegar y muchos corazones por conquistar pero sabemos que aunque en México la escena del metal no es tan apoyada hemos pasado de las mejores experiencias de nuestras vidas por el siempre echo de abrirnos un lugar en el gusto de todos ustedes. Y nos seguiremos preparando para darles música de calidad.

Por ultimo les quiero pedir que sigamos apoyando al “Metal Mexicano” ya que tenemos muchas buenas bandas en México y de muy buena calidad no solo musical si no también humana, sabemos que no nos podemos comparar con las bandas extranjeras principalmente por la educación musical que ellos reciben pero se sorprenderían si un día  se dan   tiempo para escuchar al talento nacional.
