¿Who are they?

 

AngelSeed was a project born from the ashes of the cult, thrash metal band Drinking Skull (Croatia, Zagreb) combining the basics of trash metal and musical influences of different sub-styles, mostly symphonic and power rock. Project formed by Damir Marijan Maras, Jurica Baljak and Siniša Antunovic Medo, took more serious form when Ivana Anic Lara (singer) decided to join the project 2007.

 

It was very obvious from the start, the songs that were created will require more complex music arrangements, so the first lineup of the band asked for reinforcements... Musicians and friends that helped us form the songs as we know them today were Tomislav Oliver (keyboards) and Luka Putica (bass). Sadly the lineup did not last for a long time, as they had to leave due to their own projects and commitments. With the arrival of the last two members; Jurica Bazant (keyboards) & Juraj Birin (guitar) project becomes a band, now consisting of six very talented musicians; from academically educated musicians, to musicians with many years of experience performing and recording: Damir Marijan Maras (rhythm-guitar), Siniša Antunović-Medo (bass), Jurica Baljak (drums), Juraj Birin (solo guitar), Jurica Bažant (keyboards) and Ivana Anic-Lara (vocals). Decision was made and the name for the band was chosen – AngelSeed

Ivana Lara: Thank you for asking :-D

 

How are you? Where are you from?

 

Ivana Lara: I’m doing just fine considering the stress with album release these days :-) I’m from Croatia.

 

Who is Ivana in this moment, with you new album?

 

Ivana Lara: A very busy woman, a very grateful woman, for wonderful fans and great response from the public :-)

 

Tell us about your musical career? You began your career as a vocalist?

 

Ivana Lara: Well, I was always a vocalist. I do play a bit of keyboards, and I write some lyrics, but vocals is mostly what I do hahaha :-) I was always singing, but I didn’t think of doing anything with that until I started listening to metal music and joined my band, AngelSeed.

 

What are your musical influences?

 

Ivana Lara: There are so many influences. With probably every single music style, because I consider myself musician who draws inspiration from any kind of music; classical, pop, dance, rap, metal, rock…etc…

 

Do you like any particular style and why?

 

Ivana Lara: Well, that depends on my current mood. Sometimes I like to play techno and dance, sometimes folk hahaha, but when it comes to singing music, I can see myself singing only metal or similar genres… I think it fits me the most, because I can show my vocal abilities, and really enjoy performing.

 

Do you have in mind to do a duet with a male vocalist? Or Female? In the future?

 

Ivana Lara: I’ve done duets before, actually we have 2 duets on our album CRIMSON DYED ABYSS, and they are both great male vocalists. But I would love to do one with a female vocalist too. If I could pick it would probably be Tarja Turunen, or Sharon Den Adel.

 

Tell us about ‘Crimson Dyed Abyss’, how was this album created? Whose idea was it?

 

Ivana Lara: Well, as soon as our band line up was complete, it was decided the time for just joking around has ended, and we wanted to do something serious and record an album, which would be good enough to compete with the best :D

 

Did you write some songs of your album debut?

 

Ivana Lara: Of course, some full songs, some bits and pieces. As we all participate in creative stuff, we all do equal amount of work on creating the song :-)

 

How do you get inspired to write the songs for the album?

 

Ivana Lara: Sometimes you start with idea, sometimes with bits and pieces of lyrics or music. It depends on a song :-D

 

What is your favorite song on the album and why?

 

Ivana Lara: Hahaha I can’t honestly answer that question. It’s like asking a mother, which one of her children is her favorite :-) But I can tell that, for instance, I surprised myself the most on “Now”. That song was completely different when we started, and I didn’t like it, but now, the album version is awesome, and I’m very happy how it turned out.

 

What is the musical style of the band? I know it, it has many styles… I like the combinations!

 

Ivana Lara: I guess you can say we are combination of symphonic-power-thrash-gothic-heavy-folk metal? :-D

 

There will be a video of your album? Which song will it be?

 

Ivana Lara: For now the plans are to do several videos, but first single is going to be DANCING WITH THE GHOSTS.

 

That meaning behind the cover of the new album?

 

Ivana Lara: It is very complicated and long to explain, but for short I can say, that bits and pieces from our songs meanings were taken and incorporated in the cover :-)

 

Can you tell us why should we listen to your band’s album?

 

Ivana Lara: Well, it has 11 songs, each song is different metal style, yet it complements song before and after it. I think every metal-head can find something to like on it :D And also it has been a shortage of good female fronted music lately, so I’m hoping people want to hear something new and original :-)

 

Anything else you'd like to share with us my friend?

 

Ivana Lara: We all hope that you will like our album, which is now available to buy, and we of course would like to hear back from our fans with comments, how they liked everything :D

Terminamos con esta súper entrevista! De Bonus Pack de Fin Año! Ivana Anic! De AngelSeed!

 

¿Quiénes son?

 

AngelSeed era un proyecto que nace de las cenizas de la banda de thrash metal de Drinking Skull (Croacia, Zagreb) al combinar los conceptos básicos de trash metal y las influencias musicales de diferentes sub-estilos, en su mayoría rock sinfónico y el power. Proyecto formado por Damir Marijan Maras, Jurica Baljak y Siniša Antunovic Medo, tomó forma más seria cuando Ivana Anic Lara (cantante) decidió unirse al proyecto de 2007.

 

Era muy obvio desde el principio, las canciones que se crearon requerirán arreglos musicales más complejas, por lo que la primera formación de la banda pidió refuerzos ... Los músicos y amigos que nos ayudaron a formar las canciones como los conocemos hoy en día eran Tomislav Oliver (teclados) y Luka Putica (bajo). Tristemente la alineación no durará mucho tiempo, ya que tuvieron que abandonar debido a sus propios proyectos y compromisos. Con la llegada de los últimos dos miembros; Jurica Bazant (teclados) y Juraj Birin (guitarra) proyecto se convierte en una banda, ya que consta de seis músicos con mucho talento; de músicos académicos educados, a los músicos con muchos años de experiencia en la realización y grabación: Damir Marijan Maras (ritmo-guitarra), Siniša Antunović-Medo (bajo), Jurica Baljak (batería), Juraj Birin (guitarra solista), Jurica Bažant (teclados ) e Ivana Anic-Lara (voz). Decisión fue tomada y el nombre de la banda fue elegida - AngelSeed

Como has estado? De donde eres?

 

He estado muy bien a pesar de haber lanzado recientemente el álbum.

 

Soy de Croacia.

 

Quien es Ivana en este momento? Háblanos de tu nuevo álbum.

 

Ivana es una mujer muy ocupada y por supuesto, es una mujer muy agradecida con sus fans y con la respuesta del público.

 

Háblanos un poco de tu carrera musical. Comenzaste tu carrera como vocalista?

 

Así es, siempre he sido vocalista. También toco el teclado y escribo canciones pero cantar es lo más importante para mí.

 

Siempre me gusto cantar pero no había pensado en dedicarme a eso, si no fue hasta que conocí la música metal y posteriormente me uní a la banda AngelSeed.

 

Cuáles son tus influencias musicales?

 

Tengo muchas influencias! Probablemente de todos los estilos, porque me considero a mi misma como un músico que encuentra inspiración en cada género musical.

 

Por ejemplo: Música clásica, pop, dance, rap, metal y rock.

 

Te gusta algún estilo en particular y si es así porque?

 

Bueno, depende de mi estado de humor.

 

A veces me gusta tocar algo de techno y dance, pero otras veces me siento folk! Jeje

Pero si hablamos de géneros que me gusten cantar, definitivamente es el metal y géneros similares.

 Siento que es donde encajo mejor, porque me permite mostrar mis habilidades vocales y disfruto mucho interpretándolo.

 

Te gustaría hacer un dueto con algún interprete, ya sea hombre o mujer?

 

He hecho duetos antes, incluso el álbum crimson dyed abyss incluye un par de duetos con dos grandes intérpretes masculinos.

 

Me encantaría hacer alguno con una intérprete femenina y si pudiera elegir con quien, probablemente diría que con Tarja Turunen o Sharon Den Adel.

 

Háblanos un poco sobre el álbum crimson dyed abyss. Como se creó este disco? De quien fue idea?

 

Bien, en cuanto nuestra alineación estuvo completa decidimos que era tiempo de dejar a un lado las bromas y de ponernos serios.

 

Queríamos grabar un álbum serio que pudiera competir con los mejores!.

 

Escribiste alguna canción de su álbum debut?

 

Por supuesto! Escribí algunas canciones completas y también partes de otras.

 

Todos participamos en el proceso creativo, todos tuvimos la misma cantidad de trabajo y sobre todo en las letras de las canciones.

 

Cuál es tu inspiración para escribir las canciones?

 

En ocasiones tienes ya una determinada idea, en otras tienes pedacitos tanto de música como de letra. Depende mucho de que canción.

 

Cuál es tu canción favorita del álbum y por qué?

 

Honestamente no puedo contestar esa pregunta jaja es como preguntarle a una madre, cual es su hijo preferido?

Pero por ejemplo, puedo decirte que la canción NOW es una canción que me sorprende demasiado.

Esa canción era muy diferente al principio, de hecho no me gustaba! Pero la versión del álbum es asombrosa! Estoy contenta con el resultado final.

 

Cuál es el estilo musical de la banda? Sé que tiene muchos estilos!

 

Así es! Se puede decir que combinamos estos géneros:

 

Sinfónico, power, thrash, gotico, heavy y folk metal!!!

 

Sacaran algún video? De que canción?

 

Los planes incluyen hacer varios videos, pero el primero será el de la canción dancing with the ghosts.

 

Qué significado tiene la portada del álbum?

 

Es algo complicado y largo de explicar, pero para reducirlo les diré que cada significado de las canciones está representado en la portada.

 

Podrías decirnos el por qué deberíamos escuchar el álbum de tu banda?

 

Bien, este álbum contiene 11 canciones y cada una de ellas es diferente entre si. Se complementan entre ellas.

Pienso que cada metalero encontrara algo de su agrado en este álbum.

Además, ha habido escases de buena música con vocalistas femeninas, así que espero que la gente esté dispuesta a escuchar algo nuevo y original!!
