Ianwill evolves into a melodic universe with a trend of metalcore and death in a metallic, powerful and incisive aesthetic.
Since 2017, the new group has been hosting concerts and is actively seeking more and more dates in France, Europe and even internationally.
In April 2019, the group revealed the title of their first album: 'One Credit Left', mixed and mastered by Florent Salfati (Landmvrks) on the Homeless records. The album was released on October 27, 2019.
Our friend Audrey Ebrotie vocalist of IANWILL. She will tell us a bit about her band and her new album "One Credit Left"! Thank you very much for this new opportunity Audrey!
As is customary in Darkzen Metal Angels! How have you been my friend in this Global Quarantine that lashes the whole world?
Audrey:
I’ve been very well really, but I must admit that at first it was a bit weird and stressful because this whole situation is kind of new, not historically but for most people. There was a lot of questionnings, a lot of fear, people freaking out on the social networks, sharing a lot of news from everywhere, often fake ones…
So the first days of quarantine were pretty crazy and worrisome, but then I took some distance with the social networks, or should I say, I filtered my feeds in order to keep as much as possible only the positive, I regularly took some news from my friends and family of course. I also took some time for myself, did a lot of sport, cooking, reading, video gaming, netflix chilling and also I had the chance to telework, so I was always busy.
Darkzen:
Yes it's true Ian, the networks got really crazy and a lot of fake! Here in my country it still happens, so everything positive and move on.
Tell us a little about Audrey has maintained, changed or perhaps increasing your musical influences?
Audrey
My musical influences evolved through the years yes, metalcore stays a great part of my influences though. Lastly I listen a lot more of deathcore, death, hardcore and djent.

I remember the interview with you in 2015 with Diary of Destruction and the power you have continues to increase! What is the story behind the creation of IANWILL?
Audrey
Michael “Mike” is at the origin of the band. When he had the concept, the style in mind, he simply started to look for musicians. He was rapidly joined by Tom, and then the other members. The line up changed since the beginning, notably for the vocalist position originally held by a male singer.
I joined the band in 2016 shortly after DOD’s splitting. IANWILL was looking for a new singer, so I answered to the announce and, well you guess how it followed :)

That's right and I'm seeing it ;)
What caught your attention from the IANWILL band?
Audrey
When I first discovered the band, I was immediatly charmed by its universe mixing pefectly some old school death and metalcore influences with this touch making it sound modern. I though the EP “This Day” was already very mature for a band this young. I had to be part of the project, and I very proud to be today :D
The musical style you have is Melodic Death, Metalcore with a touch of Hardcore, you thought about putting a touch of Brutal Death?
Audrey
Maybe not brutal death specifically, but it appears likely that the next album will be a bit more wild and heavy… but I won’t say more for now ;)
Your voice is very powerful, have you thought about doing a duet like for example another vocalist of the same musical style as Tatiana Shmaylyuk? With the vocalist you choose, that combination will be brutal!

That would be amazing of course! I’m a big fan of Tatiana and Jinjer, it would also be very intimidating ‘cause she’s much talented. Maybe someday, but for now it’s just a beautiful dream ^^

Tell us about ‘One Credit Left’ in musical / instrumental terms, the production and after this super hit that will follow?
Audrey
One credit left is really representative of all our influences reunited really, so as we said a mix of metalcore, melo/death and hardcore. The general sound and ambiance is quite raw, the guitars are very incisive but also very melodic, sometimes opressive and hard, then opening towards something more hopefull.
We are very happy of the mixing/mastering resulting on a general sound very powerful but natural, very close to what you can hear in live.
The feedbacks have all been very good, also for our music video on ‘Elements Collide’, the first extract that we revealed from the album. We’re very proud of it, we weren't expecting such enthusiasm.
I think that to sing Death, Metalcore or Hardcore there is no process, I think it is a brutal, strong and aggressive emotional state, ¿What do you think?
Audrey
Yes I agree, I think it’s also a healthy way to release all my frustrations, stress, anger or sadness… Generally people defines me as someone calm and measured, I rarely lose my temper and I think music has a great influence on it. Also I do a lot of sport, that helps too.
In addition to IANWILL, do you have other work projects?
Audrey
No I don’t have other projects. IANWILL already takes me a lot of time and I prefer to invest myself in this one project.
The big question that everyone will ask themselves what is IANWILL doing now and what will happen later? Will you make another video clip?
Audrey
Now we are composing for the next album, and we started to talk about the next video clip, so yes there will be another one. I don’t when exactly with the actual situation, but as soon as possible.
How is the Metal scene in France with this COVID19 pandemic, which will affect the music industry so much?
Audrey
Actually all is at a stalemate as almost everywhere I suppose, we don’t know exactly when it will be possible to play shows again but the most important is to stay safe for now. Clearly 2020 won’t be a good year, I don’t know how much this pandemic will affect the music industry, but it will for sure.

Yes, it is what we are seeing in many places.
In your experience, what has been the best experience you have shared all these years within extreme metal?
Audrey
There are too many to name only one… there are a few shows I’ve made with DOD, some big stage as the ‘Metal Female Voices Fest’ in Belgium, the ‘Gohelle Fest’ where we played with Kreator and Napalm Death. With IANWILL there is our first show together at ‘Le Cirque Electrique’ (Paris), also ‘Le Gibus’ (Paris) where we played with our friends of When Reasons Collapse and Promethee, the pre-listening party we’ve made for ‘One Credit Left’is also an amazing memory.
When will we have Audrey Ebrotié in Latin America? When this is all over
Audrey
I’m afraid not very soon, but I really hope one day we could do a tour this far from home! it would be great :)

Ianwill evoluciona hacia un universo melódico con una tendencia de metalcore y muerte en una estética metálica, potente e incisiva.
Desde 2017, el nuevo grupo ha estado organizando conciertos y está buscando activamente más y más citas en Francia, Europa e incluso a nivel internacional.
En abril de 2019, el grupo reveló el título de su primer álbum: 'One Credit Left', mezclado y masterizado por Florent Salfati (Landmvrks) en los registros de Homeless. El álbum fue lanzado el 27 de octubre de 2019.
Nuestra amiga Audrey Ebrotie, vocalista de IANWILL. ¡Nos contará un poco sobre su banda y su nuevo álbum "One Credit Left"! Muchas gracias por esta nueva oportunidad Audrey!
¡Como es habitual en Darkzen Metal Angels! ¿Cómo has sido mi amiga en esta cuarentena global que azota al mundo entero?
Audrey
Realmente he estado muy bien, pero debo admitir que al principio fue un poco extraño y estresante porque toda esta situación es algo nueva, no históricamente, sino para la mayoría de las personas. Hubo muchas preguntas, mucho miedo, gente volviéndose loca en las redes sociales, compartiendo muchas noticias de todas partes, a menudo falsas ...
Entonces, los primeros días de cuarentena fueron bastante locos y preocupantes, pero luego tomé cierta distancia con las redes sociales, o debería decir, filtré mis feeds para mantener lo más posible solo lo positivo, regularmente recibía algunas noticias de mis amigos y familia por supuesto. También me tomé un tiempo para mí, hice mucho deporte, cocina, lectura, videojuegos, netflix y también tuve la oportunidad de trabajar a distancia, así que siempre estaba ocupada.
Darkzen:
Si es verdad Ian, ¡las redes se pusieron muy locas y mucho fake! Aquí en mi país pasa aun, asi que todo lo positivo y seguir adelante.
¿Cuéntanos un poco sobre Audrey que ha mantenido, cambiado o quizás aumentado tus influencias musicales?
Audrey
Mis influencias musicales evolucionaron a través de los años, sí, el metalcore sigue siendo una gran parte de mis influencias. Por último escucho mucho más deathcore, death, hardcore y djent.

¡Recuerdo la entrevista contigo en 2015 con Diary of Destruction y el poder que tienes continúa aumentando! ¿Cuál es la historia detrás de la creación de IANWILL?
Audrey
Michael "Mike" está en el origen de la banda. Cuando tuvo el concepto, el estilo en mente, simplemente comenzó a buscar músicos. Tom se unió rápidamente a él y luego a los otros miembros. La formación cambió desde el principio, especialmente para la posición de vocalista originalmente ocupada por un cantante masculino.
Me uní a la banda en 2016 poco después de la separación de DOD. IANWILL estaba buscando un nuevo cantante, así que respondí al anuncio y, bueno, adivina cómo siguió :)

¿Qué te llamó la atención de la banda IANWILL?
Audrey
Cuando descubrí la banda por primera vez, su universo me cautivó de inmediato al mezclar perfectamente algunas influencias de Death de la vieja escuela y el Metalcore con este toque, haciéndolo sonar moderno. Pensé que el EP "This Day" ya era muy maduro para una banda tan joven. Tenía que ser parte del proyecto, y estoy muy orgullosa de estar hoy: D
El estilo musical que tienes es Melodic Death, Metalcore con un toque de Hardcore, ¿Pensaste en darle un toque de Brutal Death?
Audrey
Tal vez no sea una brutal death específicamente, pero parece probable que el próximo álbum sea un poco más salvaje y pesado ... pero no diré más por ahora ;)
Tu voz es muy poderosa, ¿Has pensado en hacer un dúo como, por ejemplo, otra vocalista del mismo estilo musical como Tatiana Shmaylyuk? ¡Con el vocalista que elijas, esa combinación será brutal!

¡Eso sería increíble, por supuesto! Soy una gran admiradora de Tatiana y Jinjer, también sería muy intimidante porque tiene mucho talento. Quizás algún día, pero por ahora es solo un hermoso sueño ^^

Cuéntanos sobre "One Credit Left" en términos musicales / instrumentales, la producción y después de este super hit que seguirá.
Audrey
Un crédito restante es realmente representativo de todas nuestras influencias reunidas realmente, así que como dijimos una mezcla de metalcore, melo / death y hardcore. El sonido general y el ambiente es bastante crudo, las guitarras son muy incisivas pero también muy melódicas, a veces opresivas y duras, y luego se abren hacia algo más esperanzador.
Estamos muy contentos con la mezcla / masterización que resulta en un sonido general muy potente pero natural, muy cerca de lo que puedes escuchar en vivo.
Los comentarios han sido muy buenos, también para nuestro video musical en "Elements Collide", el primer extracto que revelamos del álbum. Estamos muy orgullosos de ello, no esperábamos tanto entusiasmo.
Creo que para cantar Death, Metalcore o Hardcore no hay proceso, creo que es un estado emocional brutal, fuerte y agresivo, ¿Qué opinas?
Audrey
Sí, estoy de acuerdo, creo que también es una forma saludable de liberar todas mis frustraciones, estrés, enojo o tristeza ... En general, la gente me define como alguien tranquila y medida, rara vez pierdo los estribos y creo que la música tiene una gran influencia. También hago mucho deporte, eso también ayuda.
Además de IANWILL, ¿Tienes otros proyectos de trabajo?
Audrey
No, no tengo otros proyectos. IANWILL ya me lleva mucho tiempo y prefiero invertirme en este proyecto.
La gran pregunta es que todos se preguntarán qué está haciendo IANWILL ahora y qué sucederá más adelante. ¿Harás otro vídeo clip?
Audrey
Ahora estamos componiendo para el próximo álbum, y comenzamos a hablar sobre el próximo video clip, así que sí, habrá otro. No sé exactamente con la situación actual, sino lo antes posible.
¿Cómo es la escena Metal en Francia con esta pandemia de COVID19, que tanto afectará a la industria de la música?
Audrey
En realidad, todo está en un punto muerto, ya que casi en todas partes, supongo, no sabemos exactamente cuándo será posible volver a tocar, pero lo más importante es mantenerse a salvo por ahora. Claramente, 2020 no será un buen año, no sé cuánto afectará esta pandemia a la industria de la música, pero seguramente lo hará.

En tu experiencia, ¿Cuál ha sido la mejor experiencia que has compartido todos estos años dentro del metal extremo?
Audrey
Hay demasiados para nombrar solo uno ... hay algunos shows que he hecho con DOD, un gran escenario como el "Metal Female Voices Fest" en Bélgica, el "Gohelle Fest" donde tocamos con Kreator y Napalm Death. Con IANWILL tenemos nuestro primer show juntos en 'Le Cirque Electrique' (París), también 'Le Gibus' (París) donde tocamos con nuestros amigos de When Reasons Collapse y Promethee, la fiesta previa a la escucha que hicimos para ' One Credit Left'es también un recuerdo increíble.

Me temo que no muy pronto, pero realmente espero que algún día podamos hacer un recorrido tan lejos de casa. que sería genial :)
