Johanna (ex- Ordogs) and Thomas (ex- Circle of Chaos) started to wright some songs together during the spring of 2015. Hard hitting drummer Sillen (ex- Slowlife) was asked if he would be interested in getting together and jam some of the songs. Already at the first rehearsal the chemistry was there so then Oskar Viklund (ex- Savage Skülls) was engaged as the lead guitar player. Cobra Cult was officially formed in November 2015. The first two songs were recorded in the spring of 2016 with Linus Nirbrant (This Ending, A Canorous Quartet) at Audiogrind Studios. On August the 27th, 2016 the band did their first gig at Mangefestivalen in Tungelsta, Sweden. In february 2017 the band then entered Sunlight studio for the first time to record the 4-track EP "The Sunlight tapes" with legend Tomas Skogsberg. That same summer Magnus Palm (The Stickshifters) joined the band as the new guitarplayer. In November Cobra Cult did the first gig abroad at the Bremer Metal Festival in Bremen, Germany. One year later, November 2018, the self-titled debut album "Cobra Cult" was released. Once again recorded at Sunlight studio by Tomas Skogsberg and mastered by Joel Grind of Toxic Holocaust.
In January, 2019, Anders Martinsgård (Black Solstice, ex- Ponamero Sundown), joined the band as the new guitarplayer. In June 2019, the band played at Sweden Rock Festival for the first time.
Hello my friend Johanna, how are you? Thank you for to talk with you! I hope that you enjoy the interview with us!
Tell us a Little bit of Cobra Cult, why the name?
Johanna
Cobra cult is me, Johanna, Thomas, Sillen and Anders. We play Punk Rock / Metal with attitude.
The name I’ve had in my mind for a long time, everything with the word cult is super cool and you know i just was playing with words and put cobra in front of cult.
What is your musical career Johanna?
Johanna
I started playing bass with some friends in my younger teens, some AC/DC and Clash covers. After that we wanted to make our own music, and one of the other girls really wanted to play bass so I tried out the guitar. That band didn’t last long so if I jump a couple of years ahead I started a band called Ordogs. We played for like 7 years together and did some demos and quite a few gigs. After that I didn’t play for a while, but I missed it so much so Thomas and I started to do some songs and yes, now we are here.
What is your favorite musical genre for you? or Do you have more?
Johanna
I love punk, metal and hardrock of course, but also country, neofolk and dark ambient.
The band musical style is Rock´n´rollish metalpunk. What does Rock´n´rollish mean? With the Swedish musical style?
Johanna
It´s our mix of rock, metal and punk - rock´n´rollish metalpunk!
The band musical style is just like you say Rock and Rollish and Punk Metal! Tell us about the production of your album 'Cobra Cult'?
Johanna
We recorded the album at Sunlight Studio with legend Thomas Skogsberg and Joel Grind of Toxic Holocaust who did the mastering of the album. We really wanted to work with them, they gave the album a rough sound and we are really happy with how it turned out.
Why only two videos at the moment of your album, "LET YOUR HAIR DOWN" and "IN THE ZONE (AGAIN)"?
Johanna
We took the two strongest songs on the album to make videos of. But we will record a new single soon and also make a video for that song.
For the audience that has not hear your album, what would you say? What do we expect when listening to Cult Cobra's album?
Johanna
It´s really energetic and captivating, you´ll like it! Some say that we sound like a mix of The Misfits, L7 and Motörhead, so check us out.
Would you like to combine some other style like Thrash Metal? or more Punk Metal? Like which?
Johanna
I don’t think so at this point, maybe more punk if you ask me. So, who knows?
What does mean Punk Metal to you? I think very few bands mix this.
Johanna
For me, punk metal means a combination of the best of the best. A music style that is both heavy and raw, you know
Will there be any other videos from your recent album? Any advance!
Johanna
No, we will not make any more videos from this album.
Dates of some of your presentations in your country? and for 2020?
Johanna
We´ve made quite a few gigs in Sweden and the highlights would be Sweden Rock festival and Malmö Festivalen. For 2020 we have a couple of things in the pipeline so there will be more information coming up later.
Any tour of Europe maybe?
Johanna
We just got home from a three-gig tour in England and we´d love to go back there really soon. Also, we would absolutely love to tour in the rest of Europe, so we have our fingers crossed for that next year.
Some news for your fans?
Johanna
In November we´ll record and release a single and next year a brand-new album and play live of course.

Johanna (ex Ordogs) y Thomas (ex Circle of Chaos) comenzaron a escribir algunas canciones juntos durante la primavera de 2015. Se le preguntó al baterista Sillen (ex Slowlife) si estaría interesado en reunirse y tocar algunas de las canciones. Las canciones. Cuéntanos un poco de Cobra Cult, ¿Por qué el nombre?
Johanna
Cobra cult soy yo, Johanna, Thomas, Sillen y Anders. Tocamos Punk Rock / Metal con actitud.
El nombre que he tenido en mi mente durante mucho tiempo, todo con la palabra culto es súper genial y sabes que solo estaba jugando con palabras y puse a cobra delante del culto.
¿Cuál es tu carrera musical Johanna?
Johanna
Comencé a tocar el bajo con algunos amigos en mi adolescencia, algunas versiones de AC / DC y Clash. Después de eso, queríamos hacer nuestra propia música, y una de las otras chicas realmente quería tocar el bajo, así que probé la guitarra. Esa banda no duró mucho, así que si salto un par de años más adelante, comencé una banda llamada Ordogs. Tocamos durante 7 años juntos e hicimos algunas demostraciones y bastantes conciertos. Después de eso no toque por un tiempo, pero lo extrañé tanto que Thomas y yo comenzamos a hacer algunas canciones y sí, ahora estamos aquí.
¿Cuál es tu género musical favorito para ti? o tienes más?

Me encanta el punk, el metal y el hardrock, por supuesto, pero también el country, el neofolk y el ambiente oscuro.

Grabamos el álbum en Sunlight Studio con la leyenda Thomas Skogsberg y Joel Grind del Toxic Holocaust, quienes hicieron el master del álbum. Realmente queríamos trabajar con ellos, le dieron al álbum un sonido áspero y estamos muy contentos con cómo resultó.
¿Por qué solo dos vídeos en el momento de tu álbum, "LET YOUR HAIR DOWN" y "IN THE ZONE (AGAIN)"?
Johanna
Tomamos las dos canciones más fuertes del álbum para hacer vídeos. Pero pronto grabaremos un nuevo single y también haremos un vídeo para esa canción.
Para la audiencia que no ha escuchado tu álbum, ¿qué dirías? ¿Qué esperamos al escuchar el álbum de Cobra Cult?

Es realmente enérgico y cautivador, ¡te gustará! Algunos dicen que sonamos como una mezcla de The Misfits, L7 y Motörhead, así que échanos un vistazo.
¿Te gustaría combinar algún otro estilo como Thrash Metal? o más Punk Metal? ¿Cómo cuál?

Para mí, el punk metal significa una combinación de lo mejor de lo mejor. Un estilo musical que es pesado y crudo, ya sabes
¿Habrá otros vídeos de tu álbum reciente? Cualquier avance!
Johanna
No, no haremos más vídeos de este álbum.
¿Fechas de algunas de sus presentaciones en su país? y para 2020?
Johanna
Hemos realizado bastantes conciertos en Suecia y lo más destacado sería Sweden Rock festival y Malmö Festivalen. Para 2020 tenemos un par de cosas en proceso, por lo que habrá más información más adelante.
¿Alguna gira por Europa, tal vez?
Johanna
Acabamos de llegar a casa de una gira de tres conciertos en Inglaterra y nos encantaría volver allí muy pronto. Además, nos encantaría hacer una gira en el resto de Europa, por lo que tenemos los dedos cruzados para el próximo año.
¿Alguna noticia para tus fans?
Johanna
En noviembre grabaremos y lanzaremos un sencillo y el próximo año un álbum nuevo y tocaremos en vivo, por supuesto.
¿Algo más que quieras compartir con nosotros?
