"Traces" delights all senses with such finely melodically arranged and highly catchy 'Storyteller Metal' that it is simply magnificent! Besides Skaldir and his well-tried comrade-in-arms Morten as lyricist and co-vocalist, live drummer Stryx and live guitarist Sethras can also be heard on the new masterpiece. As a guest vocalist, the excellently integrated Lars Jensen of Myrkgrav joins the brilliant song "Into Eternity" with his fabulously distinctive voice for even more multiple sprawling goose bumps – Jensen sounds so exquisite, as if he was born only for this. In the last track "To Those Long Forgotten" there are two guest singers due to the different roles in the song lyrics.

Mystic folk spiritualist Rúnahild, who was already heard on the Hardanger fiddle on

the debut album, sings the female vocal part, while cover artist Christopher Rakkestad (Elvarhøi) takes the male role.

 

This metal ballad is about parents mourning their child killed in war. Emotionally delivered, this lyrical theme, though unplanned, has now become more relevant than ever. Lyrically, the second album of ASH OF ASHES deals with the inevitably moving theme 'journey'. The lyrical topics on "Traces" range from the courageous departure up to the end - including the traces along with memory that ultimately remains in the traveler until the end of his days. Historical and mythological elements are interwoven in an exciting way, which guarantees timelessly entertaining stories.

Kicks off the album with a dark, melancholy instrumental ambient atmospheric intro

 

Under the Midnight Sun

 

Starting with a fast tempo, fast, frenetic rhythms with excellent Dark Folk Metal! With a voice with equal atmosphere, those chords are dominant throughout the track.

 

Into Eternity (feat. Lars Jensen)

 

Front line of chords ahead with a constant rhythm step marked by the line of guitars and drums, regular tempo changes going down to slow and harmonious, maintaining that Nordic style.

 

The Eternal Traveller

 

We have a beautiful acoustic instrumental start, with a well done and very elegant musical style, Doom/Heavy metal, a beautiful ballad to some extent, long notes and slow tempos.

 

Evermore

 

Changing the rhythm and sounds a little, a little more rhythmic, melodic and harmonious, the base of the drums marks the tempo and rhythm quite a bit in combination of the most discreet chords.

We return with the epic, medieval and Nordic sounds in the atmosphere that drives, an instrumental and acoustic song, in much of the track.

 

A Lion Guards Our Names

 

An acoustic beginning, which little by little increases the power in the chords and stronger drums with heavy sounds, voices with that style of atmospheric and melodic death/doom/black metal.

 

Southbound

 

A heavier, dense and darker song combining clean and guttural voices, with high content in that melodic death/doom/black metal style.

 

To Those Long Forgotten (feat. Rúnahild & Christopher Rakkestad)

 

And elegantly closing the album with piano notes, with clean voices and a very beautiful female voice with a soft and clear register.

 

My Recomendation

 

The Traces album is elegant, it does not have a single musical style or line, it has a musical combination of several styles, but with a notable predominance in epic folk, doom, melodic black and with voices within the death metal style, ballads and other songs. instrumentals, heavy tracks with those musical touches but the ending is very different from the rest of the album, it has accelerated guitars and forceful drums of moments with harsh voices with the songs in dramatic voices, with guitars, melodic chords and I think it's his touch and style of the band, so we have a dense, melodic and smooth album! An album with unique found styles.

"Traces" deleita todos los sentidos con un 'Storyteller Metal' tan finamente arreglado melódicamente y tan pegadizo que es simplemente magnífico. Además de Skaldir y su bien probado compañero de armas Morten como letrista y co-vocalista, el baterista en vivo Stryx y el guitarrista en vivo Sethras también se pueden escuchar en la nueva obra maestra. Como vocalista invitado, el excelentemente integrado Lars Jensen de Myrkgrav se une a la brillante canción "Into Eternity" con su voz fabulosamente distintiva para poner la piel de gallina aún más múltiple: Jensen suena tan exquisito, como si hubiera nacido solo para esto. En la última pista, "To Those Long Forgotten", hay dos cantantes invitados debido a los diferentes roles en la letra de la canción.

La mística espiritista popular Rúnahild, a quien ya se escuchó en el violín de Hardanger en

el álbum debut, canta la parte vocal femenina, mientras que el artista de portada Christopher Rakkestad (Elvarhøi) asume el papel masculino.

 

Esta balada de metal trata sobre padres que están de luto por la muerte de su hijo en la guerra. Línea frontal de acordes por delante con un paso de ritmo constante marcada por la línea de guitarras y batería, cambios en tempo regulares bajando a lentos y armoniosos, manteniendo ese estilo nórdico.

Tenemos un bello inicio instrumental acústico, con un estilo musical bien hecho y muy elegante, de Doom/Heavy metal, una bella balada hasta cierto punto, notas largas y tempos lentos.

 

Evermore

 

Cambiando un poco el ritmo y sonidos, un poco más rítmicos, melódicos y armoniosos, la base de la batería marca bastante el tempo y ritmo en combinación de los acordes más discretos.

Volvemos con los sonidos épicos, medievales y nórdicos en la atmosfera que maneja, una canción instrumental y acústica, en gran parte de la pista.

 

A Lion Guards Our Names

 

Un inicio acústico, que poco a poco eleva la potencia en los acordes y batería más contundente con sonidos pesados, voces con ese estilo de death/doom/black metal atmosférico y melódico.

 

Southbound

 

Una canción más pesada, densa y oscura combinando voces limpias y guturales, con alto contenido en ese estilo death/doom/black metal melódico

 

To Those Long Forgotten (feat. Rúnahild & Christopher Rakkestad)

 

Y cerrando de forma elegante el álbum con notas de piano, con voces limpias y voz femenina muy bella con un registro suave y clara.

 

Mi Recomendacion

 

El álbum de Traces es elegante, no tiene un estilo o línea musical única, tiene una combinación musical de varios estilos, pero con un predominio notable en epic folk, doom, black melódico y con voces dentro del estilo death metal, baladas y otras canciones instrumentales, pistas pesadas con esos toques musicales pero el final es muy diferente al resto del álbum, tiene guitarras aceleradas y batería contundente de momentos con voces ásperas con los cánticos en voces con dramatismo, con guitarras, acordes melódicos y creo que es su toque y estilo de la banda, asi que tenemos un álbum denso, melódico y suave! Un álbum con estilos encontrados únicos.
