King Ov Wyrms comes from the vision of Michael Sánchez (Pain Patterns, ex-Judicator) out of Tucson, Arizona. The project was formed in 2015 when Sánchez was intrigued to explore his more aggressive side of metal. He loves the music he's been creating with his main band Pain Patterns, but felt it was time to act on his inner urges to fulfill his desire for a purely aggressive musical venture.

​

The project went through various lineup changes only to be consistently held together by Sanchez, which lead him to completely write and record all of the songs as a full lineup along with the vocals. Having studied classical music and jazz to a degree while growing up, these gave him the tools to write comfortably on his own even in the concept of metal music. The end result, five years in the making is debut full length "Lord Ov Thornes". Featuring lyrical themes encompassing the occult and a deep love for Lovecraftian horror, the record is an abusive assault of aggressive music with elements of old school death intertwined with black metal set to be unleashed on November 20th.

"King Ov Wyrms is such a massive grim beast of Blackened Death metal that I’ve been dying to bring forth to the world for years, to finally see this project come together even if it's just being held together by myself at this point is just beyond fulfilling. Everything about this band has been just more or less a mere rumor amongst the southwestern metal scene until now, so many people would stop me at Pain Patterns and even Judicator shows and would ask me about this “new death metal project” I’ve been working on and such, but now I can finally present it on a grand scale and not just some burner CDs like I’ve done in the past of these scraped demos.

Lord Ov Thornes is an album that to me, attempts to bridge a gap between the earliest forms of death and black to a more modern approach of metal production, almost like taking Morbid Angel’s “Formulas Fatal To The Flesh” and mashing it with Sulphur Aeons “Gateway To The Antisphere”. These brutal compositions that have been in the works for several years are finally ready to surface from their grim depths and inspire a new wave of death metallers."

​

Acceleration, explosiveness, double blast to everything he gives! A strong, powerful and highly rhythmic beginning of the album.

​

The Great Sleeper

​

Start with a fairly accelerated speed, constant beat and machine gunner, jammed double blast, breaks a bit of synchrony with some changes of rhythm, but the whole track is very forceful.

​

Hell’s Breathe

​

A constant and machine-gunning beat similar to the previous track, double blast and hypnotizing chords, changes of rhythm and scale that are accentuated throughout the track.

​

Frantic sound, strong scale and speed, rhythm changes, a brutal super double blast! That is excellent without a doubt, quite an aggressive and dark track.

The Maggots That Crawled From The Wounds

​

A beginning with devastating chords, constant and dense drums, a constant rhythm, without pause, a few brief changes of scale and power.

​

A slightly more contrasting track, slow at the beginning and a sudden jump of speed and musical load, more rhythmic and versatile.

Thorne Bearer

​

Start jammed with sounds loaded with dense chords, strong drums, brutal double blasts and constant rhythms.

Ascendance Of A Continual One

​

A somewhat unexpected ending, slow and diffuse beginning, but with a higher rhythm and dense chords with excellent scales, darker, dense sounds and with much more forcefulness.

​

My Recomendation

​

It is an album with style to the old school of Blackened Death Metal, without technical elements such and which is the ruthless, dark, dense, brutal and unbridled musical style of riffs, forceful, basic and heavy chords, a stuck blast beat! It reminds me a bit of Exhumer with a unique brutality and Deicide, a style with a modern rhythm, classic for maintaining and demonstrating this classic form of Death Metal with a high dose of raw and demonic aggressiveness.

​

An album with dynamism, scratchy textures, emotional with a dark setting - melancholic and with aggressive explosive rhythms, the solos and scales are very mixed that sometimes can be lost between the song, the drums are quite over-output, perhaps the sound for the listener it can be similar in some songs, which can fall into the constant and monotonous part of the album.

El proyecto se formó en 2015 cuando Sánchez estaba intrigado por explorar su lado más agresivo del metal. Inicio con una velocidad bastante acelerada, compas constante y ametrallador, doble blast atascado, rompe un poco la sincronía con algunos cambios de ritmo, pero toda la pista muy contundente.

Un compás constante y ametrallador semejante a la pista anterior, doble blast y acordes hipnotizantes, cambios de ritmo y escala que se van acentuando a lo largo de la pista.

Sonido frenético, fuerte escala y velocidad, cambios de ritmo, un súper doble blast brutal! Eso es excelente sin duda, una pista bastante agresiva y oscura.

Un final algo inesperado, inicio lento y difuso, pero con mayor ritmo y acordes densos con excelentes escalas, sonidos más oscuros, densos y con mucha más contundencia.

Mi Recomendación  

​

Es un albúm con estilo a la vieja escuela del Death Metal Ennegrecido, sin elementos técnicos tal y cual es el estilo musical despiadado, oscuro, denso, brutal y desenfrenado de riffs, acordes contundentes, básicos y pesados, un blast beat atascado! Me recuerda un poco a Exhumer con una brutalidad única y a Deicide, estilo con ritmo moderno, clásico por mantener y demostrar esta forma clásica de Death Metal con alta dosis de agresividad demoniaca y cruda.

​

Un álbum con dinamismo, texturas rasposas, emocional con ambientación oscura - melancólica y con ritmos explosivos agresivos, los solos y escalas están muy mezclados que a veces se pueden perder entre la canción, la batería sobre sale bastante, también quizás el sonido para el escucha puede ser semejante en algunas canciones, el cual puede caer en la parte constante y monótona del albúm.
