Greetings! Friends! I was talking to our friend Arjen Lucassen a great master in music composition, with albums, excellent! Of great skill and thematic songs and music full of conceptual elements that we can identify with our daily lives.

First of all how are you friend?

 

== Very well, thanks. The new project with Anneke van Giersbergen is going great, we’re both very excited about it!

 

What you're telling us, that you make out in your work? Theory of everything is a big production of progressive metal / opera / rock, how do you inspires for to make your productions?

 

== Oh, I’m just a huge music lover trying to create the music I’d want to buy myself. And luckily other people enjoy it too J

 

Cristina was in this production, in the past albums  Anneke, Floor and many more, that you give us an opinion of their voices?

 

== Cristina is a very emotional person and singer, and she’s also very real. Anneke is technically speaking the best singer I ever worked with. Floor is a true power singer, she can do anything.

 

Darkzen: i agree with you my friend! They are amazing!

 

As is your selection to invite a female vocalist ?

 

== I have a big wish list of about 200 singers, amongst them many female singers. When I’m working on a new project I contact the singers from this list who fit the music and the lyrics the best.

 

Because you include a female voice in your work?

 

== I love the variety of voices, I like to use as many different types of voices as possible to keep the music and the story interesting.

 

What do you think of women's voices are so versatile?

 

== Somehow it’s very easy to work with female singers, both technically and emotionally.

 

Have any predilection of voice, with some special style?

 

== No. I like both powerful and soft voices, both metal and folky. But the emotion always has to be there.

 

Fémale voices are a esquisites for me, especially depending on the style, I think he gives body and substance to a song, what do you think in general the female metal?

 

== The combination of powerful metal and an emotional female voice is amazing, it works like a charm. I have always loved contrasts.

 

Fémale voices mesmerize, enchant or seduce, what do you think?

 

== I completely agree with you! Very often I’m crying my eyes out in the studio when I record female singers J

 

What do you think of women's voices within the Death Metal for example?

 

== Sorry, that’s not my thing. I prefer melody and I don’t like aggression. It can be very effective for a line or two here and there, but for me personally not for a whole album.

 

What advice could you give us a lot of female vocalists are starting or within the metal scene?

 

== Be inspired by other female singers, but please don’t try to copy them. The original is always unique, even if your technique is better.  Just stay within your limits and try to seduce us with every word you sing.

Saludos! Amigos! Estuve platicando con nuestro amigo Arjen Lucassen un gran maestro en composición musical, con unos álbumes, excelentes! De gran maestría y temática, canciones y música conceptual llena de elementos que nos pueden identificar con nuestra vida diaria.

Músico y compositor holandés dentro del metal. Interpreta una gran variedad de instrumentos incluyendo guitarras, flautas y sintetizadores. En bandas como Ayreon reúne un gran grupo de músicos y graba álbumes con ellos. Frecuentemente se le acredita haber revivido el género de la ópera rock.

 

Tenía ganas de preguntarle a un experto, que opina de la voces femeninas de estos tiempos, que opina de los demás géneros, así como su elección, en verdad muchas gracias amigo! Por esta oportunidad! Y el tiempo para contestar estas preguntas!  Bueno aquí les dejo la entrevista!

Como estas?

 

Muy bien gracias, el nuevo proyecto con Anneke van Giersbergen está saliendo genial, ambos estamos emocionados por ello.

 

"Theory of everything" es una gran producción de metal progresivo, opera y rock, como te inspiras para hacer este tipo de producciones?

 

Soy simplemente un fanático de la música tratando de crear la música que a mí me gustaría comprar. Afortunadamente otra gente la disfruta tanto como yo.

 

Cristina estuvo contigo en esta producción y en los álbumes pasados estuvo Anneke, Floor y muchas más, puedes decirme qué opinas de sus voces?

 

Cristina es una cantante y persona muy emocional y muy real.

Anneke es, técnicamente hablando, la mejor cantante con la que haya trabajado.

Floor es una cantante poderosa, ella puede hacer lo que sea.

 

Darkzen: de acuerdo contigo, en vivo son geniales!

 

Como seleccionas a las vocalistas femeninas que seleccionas?

 

Tengo una enorme lista de 200 cantantes, la mayoría femeninas. Cuando trabajo en un nuevo proyecto, contacto a las cantantes que encajen con la música y letras lo mejor posible.

 

Por que incluyes voces femeninas en tu trabajo?

 

Me encanta la variedad de voces y me gusta usar muchas voces diferentes para mantener la historia y la música interesante.

 

Por qué crees que la voz de una mujer es tan versátil?

 

De alguna forma es bastante fácil trabajar con cantantes femeninas de ambas maneras, técnicamente y emocionalmente.

 

Tienes alguna voz predilecta? Algún estilo en especial?

 

No, me gustan ambas formas, ya sean poderosas o suaves. Pero la emoción siempre debe estar presente.

 

Las voces femeninas son exquisitas para mí, dependiendo del estilo, pero pienso que le dan cuerpo y sustancia a la canción, qué opinas tú de las mujeres en el metal?

 

La combinación del metal poderoso y una voz emocional femenina es increíble! funciona como por encanto. Siempre he amado los contrastes.

 

Las voces femeninas encantan, hechizan y seducen, qué opinas de esto?

 

Estoy completamente de acuerdo contigo! muy seguido me encuentro llorando en el estudio cuando grabo con cantantes femeninas.

 

Que opinas de las voces femeninas dentro del Death metal?

 

Lo siento, pero ese no es mi estilo. Prefiero lo melódico y no me gusta la agresión.

Eso puede ser efectivo en una línea o dos pero personalmente para mí, no es para un álbum completo.

 

Qué consejo le puedes dar a todas esas vocalistas femeninas que están comenzando o surgiendo dentro de la escena del metal?

 

Inspírense en otras cantantes femeninas pero por favor no traten de copiarlas! lo original es siempre único, incluso si tu técnica es mejor.

Solo quédense dentro de sus límites y traten de seducirnos con cada palabra que canten.
