Fortaleza is a gothic metal band from Veracruz, Mex.

Within his songs Fortaleza incorporates elements of culture Veracruz state, as are some stories, legends and musical passages own entity. In addition to addressing everyday issues within their own musical conception, seeks also to create awareness among about your inner person and their relationship with nature.

 

The band features 4 musical productions "The Fortress of Solitude", "A Light from the Shadows", "The Eye of the Storm" and "Hidden Fortress." In addition to 4 promotional Music Video "La Mulata", "Eternal Angel", "The Countess" and "No Eternity as Mia."

Tell us a little about you, who are you?

 

ok, my name is Vhiridiana, i'm a musician, a singer and i'm dedicated full-time to the beautiful art of the music.

 

Nowadays i'm participating in three different projects, my life is focused on being a complete singer.

With the skills of playing and experimenting with my voice.

 

The bands where i'm participating are: Fortaleza (metal), Phantossa (progressive rock) and ElectroFeel (electro-rock-pop)

 

How did you get into this genres? How did you start your career? Did you have some difficulties?

 

Actually, it has been a long process of self-knowledge and experimentation. I studied singing since i was a little girl, i sung in a chorus and used to love the classical music.

The time passed, i grew up and discovered the rock music.

 

When i knew about the existence of the symphonic metal, that was the most wonderful thing that had ever happened to me.

 

I joined into a band for the first time in 2006, when i was 16 years old and used to sing covers of gothic metal.

 

We called ourselves  "Venus Garden" and we had only an original song.

 

Our first presentations were at the classic and legendary chopo, besides some bars of the city. Two years later i joined into a new band called "Hada de Beng" and recorded two albums with them.

My stay with them was long and i felt that i could grown more as a musician and as a singer. The music and the scene required the most and i had to prepare me more and more.

 

I came out of Hada in February of 2013 and my musical restlessness grew.

 

I not only wanted to sing metal, i wanted other things  and i expected more of the music and more of me. So i decided to create Phantossa, that was how my project was born.

 

It took a year to find the right members for my band, but nowadays we are complete, with committed people and a lot of faith and dreams.

 

We are preparing everything to record at the studio by year-end.

 

A few months later, Jimmy (ex member of Maquiavela) invited me to record some chorus with his project, i accepted and we recorded.

 

They were delighted with my performance and they invited me to be part of their band called ElectroFeel. They started to make songs for me and nowadays we are ready to release our first album.

Months later of being involved in ElectroFeel and Phantossa, i received a call from Rito (guitar in Fortaleza) inviting me to his band.

 

Everything was too fast, the next day i went to the beautiful harbor of Veracruz to shoot a video and a pair of songs of the new album.

How do you trained your voice?

 

You need constancy, the voice is an organic instrument and very sensitive. You have to know all your strengths and weaknesses.

My heart has taken me into the land of contemporary singing, as well known as "popular singing", that is the chest singing.

I'm still taking lessons, i have two teachers. One who teaches me classical singing and the other one teaches me contemporary singing.

 

What are your influences within and outside the metal genre? and what are your favourite singers?

 

While you are growing, the influences change. Each day you learn more about your own possibilities as a singer.

Within the metal my main influence is the beautiful Floor Jansen, because i admire her and i want to have the same career as her.

Outside the metal, all my admiration is for Christina Aguilera.

I like both of them for their vocal rank, interpretation, musicality and passion. I'm a musica lover and, i have a lot of influences and it's hard to say them.

Within the metal are Opeth, Orphaned land and Nightwish and outside the metal are Pink Floyd, Riverside and Parcupine Tree.

 

What is your inspiration when you are singing? How do you write a song?

 

The experiences i've had, i just remember the moments and is like live it again.

That is how i work with my voice, at singing and writing.

Everyday there is something new to say and share.

 

Tell us, what are the concepts for each band? Fortaleza, Phantossa and ElectroFeel.

 

Phantossa is music that highlight our human essence in every way. I don't want to tell you fantasy stories with hidden messages to discover.

Is more simple,i just tell you what my heart feels, with no filters , with no rhetoric, just all raw.

 

When you talk about the heart, it's all about feel, isn't it? That is the music of Phantossa, it just feels.

 

Our concept is the mankind and this involve a lot of things.

Fortaleza is a veracruz band that wants to highlight the mexican culture. Narrating through the lyrics legends of the colony and the conquest.

A band with simple message but very important that everyone should have with us each day.

Electric Feel has an electronic concept where the basis are the synthesizers and electronic sounds. We like to play with processors and make use of the new technologies to create music.

The lyrics are small stories that can tell you about everything.

 

Do you have difficulties with the styles?

 

At beginning yes, sometimes you can be accustomed to certain things but is better to get into more styles.

That was my main interest, to be versatile with my voice.

You only need to put on the the corresponding chip at the moment in where you are.

How has been the acceptance of your album with Fortaleza? What does the cover art mean?

The acceptance was wonderful! I was surprised of see how much people got excited with my integration to the band.

We have received a lot of positive commentaries. The single has been successful.

There is a cover called "Solamente una vez" that was included in the album as a tribute to Agustin Lara.

He was a veracruz singer very important in the xx century.

The concept was the period of bolero, each album of Fortaleza has a song representing Veracruz.

 

How was the shooting of the video? How was the production?

 

Ivan Harris was the director of the video, besides he was the producer of the video from "dulce agonia". He is friend of the band and his work has always been of quality.

We are lucky of counting with a professional work team that supports us with all our projects.

 

What do you think  about the national metal scene?

 

The scene is pretty big because it has many sub genres, you have to work hard if you really want to reach the best sceneries.

 

Do you want to make a duet? with who?

 

I have had the opportunity of sing with great voices. like my friend Duan Marie, we sung together at the anniversary of Anabantha.

I have sung with Diana Rotten of Oscuriam, at the balconies of Madero. These experiences have been wonderful! but now i hope to make other duets.

Esta semana! Les traigo una excelente platica con una de nuestras musas Mexicanas, además de regalo por estas fiestas patrias para todos ustedes y para el mundo!  

 

Un poco de su biografía oficial:

 

Fortaleza es una banda de metal gótico del puerto de Veracruz, Mex.

Dentro de sus canciones Fortaleza incorpora elementos de la cultura del Estado de Veracruz, como lo son algunas historias, leyendas y pasajes musicales propios de la entidad. Además de abordar los temas cotidianos dentro de su propia concepción musical, intentan también crear conciencia en las personas acerca de su yo interno y su relación con la naturaleza.

 

La banda cuenta con 4 producciones discográficas "La Fortaleza de la Soledad", "Una Luz entre las Sombras", "El Ojo de la Tormenta" y "Fortaleza Oculta". Además de 4 Videoclips promocionales "La Mulata", "Ángel Eterno", "La Condesa" y "Ninguna Eternidad como la Mia".

Hola! Mi amiga! Muchas gracias por esta oportunidad de saber

de ti!

 

A ti por la invitación!

 

Cuéntanos! Quién eres? Dinos un poco de ti.

 

Bueno, me llamo Vhiridiana, soy músico, cantante y me

dedico de tiempo completo al bello arte de la música.

Actualmente participo en 3 proyectos muy distintos entre

sí y mi vida está enfocada a ser una cantante completa,

con la capacidad de jugar y experimentar con mi voz de

distintas maneras.

Estas bandas donde participo son: Fortaleza (metal),

Phantossa (rock progresivo) y ElectroFeel (electro-rockpop)

 

Como llegaste a estos géneros? Como iniciaste tu carrera?

Tuviste algunas dificultades?

 

Realmente a sido un proceso largo de auto conocimiento

y de experimentación.

 

Estudié canto desde muy niña, cante en coros, y amaba

la música clásica y derivados. Pasó el tiempo, crecí, y

descubrir el rock, así que cuando me entere de la

existencia del metal sinfónico, fue lo más maravilloso que

había hasta ese momento para mi.

 

Entré a una banda por primera ves en el 2006-2007, sólo

tenía 16 años y cantaba covers de metal gótico, solo

teníamos una canción original, nos llamábamos

"Venus'Garden". Mis primeras presentaciones fueron en

el clásico y legendario Chopo entre algunos cuantos

bares de la ciudad.

 

Dos años después entré a Hada de Beng, grabė dos

discos y un acoplado con ellos. Mi estancia ahí fue larga y

es donde creo yo, pude crecer mucho mas como músico

y cantante pues la exigencias de la escena y la música

misma me obligaron a prepararme más y más.

 

Salí de Hada en febrero de 2013 y ahí las inquietudes

musicales crecieron muchísimo. Ya no quería sólo cantar

metal, quería otras cosas, esperaba más de la música

para mi, así que me aventé a crear a Phantossa. Y así

nació mi proyecto. Tal ves me aventuré mucho a querer

hacer rock progresivo, fue un proceso de un año para

encontrar a los integrantes correctos. Pero hoy por hoy

estamos completos, con gente comprometida y con fé en

este sueño. Estamos preparando todo para entrar al

estudio de grabación a finales de este año.

 

Unos meses después Jimmy (ex integrante de

maquiavelia), me invito a grabar unos coros para su

proyecto de pop, así que accedí, y grabé para él, pero

quedaron encantados con mi trabajo y me invitaron a ser

parte de ElectroFeel. Empezaron a componer para mí y

actualmente estamos por sacar nuestro primer disco.

 

Meses más tarde, de estar involucrada en ElectroFeel y

obvio en Phantossa, me hizo una llamada Rito (guitarra

de Fortaleza) para invitarme a ser parte de ellos. Todo

fue rápidisimo así que al día siguiente de la llamada me

lanzé al bello puerto de Veracruz a grabar el video y un

par de canciones del nuevo disco, que ahora ya lo

pueden descargar en iTunes y no tarda en llegar a Mixup.

 

Como entrenas tu voz?

 

Como todo en la vida necesitas constancia. La voz es un

instrumento orgánico y muy sensible, hay que conocer

bien, tus debilidades y fortalezas. Empezé cantando bel

canto, pero el corazón me ha llevado a entrenarme en el

terreno del canto contemporaneo o como se le conoce ó

identifica vulgarmente "canto popular" que no es más

que el canto llevado al pecho.

 

Actualmente sigo tomando clases de canto, tengo dos

profesores. Uno me da canto clásico y otro canto

contemporaneo.

 

Que influencias tienes dentro y fuera del metal? Vocalistas favoritas y porque?

 

Conforme vas creciendo, las influencias van cambiando,

pues cada día conoces un poco más de las posibilidades

que tienes como cantante o músico. Creo que dentro del

metal mi influencia principal es la bella Floor Jansen,

pues ella como artista, es lo que yo ahora deseo

conseguir en mi carrera. Fuera del metal, mi admiración

es para Christina Aguilera. Ambas por su rango vocal,

musicalidad, interpretación y pasión.

Y en influencias musicales, vaya! Soy una melómana! Es

difícil decirlo. Pero talves dentro del metal es Opeth,

Orphaned Land, y Nigthwish y fuera del metal Pink Floyd,

Riverside y Porcupine Tree, serían las principales.

 

Que es lo que te inspira al cantar o escribir una canción?

 

Las vivencias que he tenido. Recordar y volver a vivirlo en

ese instante preciso. Sacarlo todo. Así es como trabajo

con mi voz a la hora de cantar y a la hora de escribir.

Todos los días hay algo nuevo que decir y compartir.

 

Dinos que concepto es Fortaleza, Phantossa y ElectroFeel. Que es cada banda?

 

Bueno, Phantossa es musica que resalta nuestra escencia

humana en todas sus formas. Yo no quiero venir a

contarte historias fantasiosas, con mensajes ocultos que

descifrar, con narraciones rebuscadas. Es más simple que

eso. Yo te cuento lo que mi corazón siente, así, sin filtros,

sin retórica, en crudo. Cuando se trata del corazón sólo

se siente no? Así es la música de Phantossa, sólo se

siente. Nuestro concepto es la humanidad, y la

humanidad encierra muchas cosas.

 

Fortaleza es una banda Veracruzana, que desea resaltar la

cultura mexicana, narrando a traves de sus letras las

leyendas de la colonia y la conquista. Una banda con

mensajes simples pero importantes que todos

deberíamos tener con nosotros cada día. El vehículo para

ello es el gusto por el metal.

 

Y ElectroFeel trae un concepto electrónico 100% donde

la base de todo son los sintetizadores y sonidos

electrónicos. Nos gusta la idea de jugar con

procesadores y hacer uso de tecnologías novedosas para

crear música. Las letras son pequeñas historias que

cuentan de todo un poco.

 

Tienes dificultades con los estilos?

 

Al principio si. A veces te acostumbras a ciertas cosas y

desacostumbrarse es un poco raro. Pero pasa, y pronto

agarras la onda y el modo a cada uno de los estilos.

Además mi interés justo era este, el ser versátil con mi

voz. Sólo hay que instalarse en el chip que te

corresponde en el momento.

 

Que tal ha sido la aceptación de tu álbum con fortaleza? Que

significa el cover art? El disco bajo que concepto fue escrito? Es

continuo, atmosférico o tiene alguna historia?

 

La aceptación fue maravillosa! Yo quedé sorprendida de

ver cuanta gente se emocionó por mi entrada a

Fortaleza. Muchos comentarios positivos

afortunadamente. El sencillo ha sido todo un éxito.

El cover de "solamente una ves" fue incluido en el disco

como homenaje a Agustín Lara, cantautor veracruzano

Importantísimo del siglo XX. Y el concepto fue manejado

hacia la época y auje de los boleros.

Cada uno de los discos de fortaleza tiene una canción

que representa al estado de Veracruz.

 

La grabación del vídeo, esta excelente la fotografía. Como fue su Producción?

 

Iván Harris fue el director del video, y tengo entendido que también produjo el video de "Dulce Agonía", es amigo de la banda y su trabajo siempre ha sido de una calidad excepcional. Somos afortunados de contar con un equipo de trabajo profesional que nos apoya en la realización de este tipo de proyectos.

 

Qué opinas de la escena nacional metalera?

 

La escena es bastante extensa gracias a los subgéneros del metal y el trabajo en ella debe ser arduo, si el verdadero objetivo es alcanzar los grandes escenarios.

 

Algún dueto en especial con quien te gustaría compartir

escenario?

 

He tenido la fortuna de cantar con grandes voces, entre ellas mi amiga Duan Marie en un aniversario de Anabantha y Diana Rotten de Oscuriam en los balcones

de Madero. Alternar junto a ellas ha sido una experiencia maravillosa. Por ahora los siguientes duetos que vengan serán bienvenidos!
