Initiated as a solo project by singer Coldun himself in 2006, COLDUN has meanwhile grown into a veritable formation.

​

The group is made up of top-class musicians and long-time companions, all of whom have gained experience and competence through various band activities and projects in the last 20 years.

On the impressively art-minded 2014 second work "Collapsing Polarities" the whole timeless class of COLDUN's aesthetic-philosophically impregnated work is already revealed.

​

Now the musicians climb the logical next step together with their enthroned throat emperor: The new and third album with the inspiring title "Grand Sun Ritual" was mixed and mastered in the Priory Recording Studios Birmingham by Greg Chandler (Esoteric) in outstanding quality.

​

The ATMOSPHERIC PROGRESSIVE METAL of the soulful top experts from the Ore Mountains is once again vocalized in a highly uplifting manner with the absolute grand championship, for which the unmistakably evocative exceptional voice of frontman Coldun stands so uniquely.

"Grand Sun Ritual", a real soul slurper, shows influences from Doom to Post Metal and connects both worlds, which the tasteful creators love so much. Thus, COLDUN let atmospheric and deeply rich ambient sounds come together with wild Rock/Metal guitar riffs and drums in an amazingly fluid way, deliciously refined with the classic aroma of 70s guitar and Hammond feeling. The necessary edge in the often majestic sound image is provided by hard, sometimes even post-black stagings, which can ultimately bring a modern, but always fully genuine and down-to-earth high-class sound to brilliant radiance.

In terms of content, the new long-player revolves around the eternally topical questions of humanity about the respective meaning of life and death. The thought-provoking lyrics of the songs show a radically positive basic tenor, which stands for Coldun's personal conviction that in death nothing is absolute - and certainly not an end. In recent years he has developed and cultivated relevant impulses for this insight as a distinctly spiritual character by means of various journeys to areas of the world that are correspondingly revealing for him.

Beautiful opening are sounds of the East and gloomy environment, low musical scale, slow with a bass chord and slow tempos, voices in chorus and clean, and near the end a fine and melancholic saxophone.

The Forest And The Soul

​

Opening in an instrumental and atmospheric way, slow tempos and with a little more rhythm in this song, riffs and slow and melancholic chords. The clean voices with a larger scale.

Down Below

​

Clean guitar chords that open the beat next to the drums. The voices are with greater emotion, rhythm and melody are more noticeable.

Salvation Day

​

My Recomendation

​

The album Grand Sun Ritual has a style and rhythm embodied in each song of doom and soft progressive metal with diverse, emotional and dark settings, we can hear it in the most notable track of Hail Out To Thebes, with a slight inclination to Melodic Black Metal, a depressive and dark album, with a somewhat linear and similar voice register, except in changes of scale, it has moving and raw moments, a good complete and emotional album.

Iniciado como un proyecto en solitario por el propio cantante Coldun en 2006, COLDUN se ha convertido en una verdadera formación.

El grupo está formado por músicos de primer nivel y compañeros de mucho tiempo, todos los cuales han adquirido experiencia y competencia a través de diversas actividades y proyectos de la banda en los últimos 20 años.

En la segunda obra impresionantemente artística de 2014 "Collapsing Polarities" ya se revela toda la clase atemporal de la obra impregnada estética-filosóficamente de COLDUN.

Ahora los músicos suben el siguiente paso lógico junto con su emperador entronizado: el nuevo y tercer álbum con el título inspirador "Grand Sun Ritual" fue mezclado y masterizado en Priory Recording Studios Birmingham por Greg Chandler (Esoteric) con una calidad excepcional.

Abriendo de forma instrumental y atmosférica, tempos lentos y con un poco de mayor ritmo en esta canción, riffs y acordes lentos y melancólicos. Las voces limpias con una mayor escala.

Acordes de guitarras limpias que abren el compás junto a la batería. Las voces están con mayor emoción, ritmo y melodía se notan más.

Comienza con una narrativa de fondo hablada, posteriormente abre con un tempo medio con una voz con alta escala y registro, acordes más contundentes con un ambiente melancólico se hace sentir.

Sonidos más oscuros y pesados, melancólicos junto a una armonización y ritmo con un poco de un estilo a un Melodic Black Metal, hacen más énfasis en esos acordes con mayor algidez.

Cerrando el albúm con tonos y estilo de voz con acordes de guitarras melancólicos con un ritmo lento y abatido.

Mi Recomendación

​

El albúm Grand Sun Ritual tiene un estilo y ritmo plasmado en cada canción de doom y metal progresivo suave con ambientaciones diversas, emocionales y oscuras, lo podemos escuchar en la pista más notable de Hail Out To Thebes, con una ligera inclinación al Melodic Black Metal, un albúm depresivo y oscuro, con un registro en voz algo lineal y parecido, salvo en cambios de escala, tiene momentos conmovedores y crudos, un buen albúm completo y emocional.
