Thank you very much for being one of the first interviews of the year! With the wonderful Marie Mac Leod singer of the band Whyzdom! A huge orchestra and a massive symphonic choir intertwined with powerful riffs and enchanting melodies of a clear and passionate female voice, and give you an idea of what WHYZDOM has managed to create. Its classic influences ranging from romantic to contemporary, as well as the attractive melodies that drive the songs, make their sound absolutely unmistakable in a growing scene.

Hello my friend! How are you?

 

Hello Jose, thank you for your support! I'm fine!

 

¿Wich is the Story of the great voice of Marie Mac Leod?

 

I work a lot, work hard, play hard. And I am lucky too because I met Whyzdom and I can sing incredible songs with emotive and catchy melodies. Vynce, our guitarist and leader knows how to enhance all the aspects of my voice, and to be true, he helped me to discover new domains. 

 

You have a beautiful voice! ¿How was your vocal training?

 

Thank you! I studied opera singing with different teachers (the last one Suren Shahi Djanyan) and at the same time I took lessons with Asphodel Aurélie Raidron (Pin Up Went Down, Penumbra, Samen)

I must admit that singing with Whyzdom on big stages and 12 gigs per year gave me a real background.

 

¿How was your beginning of this year?

 

I sing at home to prepare the next album, and soon I will record with Vynce. 

 

¿What is your range vocal?

 

I am mezzo-soprano but I don't think it really means something. I can sing low and high as well, in different styles from rock to opera, and even growls at times.

 

¿Who is Marie behind the scenes and in your daily life?

 

I am a mother, a wife and a social worker. And a singer! I try to be a good friend and take care of my family. I have a cat, Lulu, who always mews when I try to record something at home. My daily life is simple but gives me a lot of happiness.

¿Do you have some new proyect with other bands?

 

No I don't and I won't. 

 

Within the Metal, which is most important to you? a album full of history, a album full of music, or a álbum with an great voice?

 

You can have it all! Holy Land, Angra for exemple. Or The Odyssey, Symphony X. 

 

Tell us ¿How was the experience of the past MFVF 2016?

 

We had a blast! We prepared a unique show with 4 chorists and we are proud to belong to the female metal family. It was great to see again all the fans. For me it was a special gig because it was the first time I sang on stage after being a mother, and I must say I enjoyed to sing again with Whyzdom, on this indredible stage.

 

¿Do you write some songs of the Whyzdom albums?

 

I don't write songs but I give my ideas, Vynce and all the band choose the best ideas and melodies. That's the case for Eve's Last Daughter for example. 

 

¿There will be new vídeo for this 2017?

 

We will probably record a new video for the next album, maybe at the end of the year.

 

¿What surprises you have to this year with your band?

 

For now we concentrate our energy for the new album.

 

¿There will be any tour in Latino America or Europe?

 

We will promote our next album, I would love to play in your country...it means taking airplane and a large budget...maybe one day!

Muchas gracias por ser una de las primeras entrevistas del año! con la maravillosa Marie Mac Leod cantante de la banda Whyzdom! una enorme orquesta y un coro sinfónico masivo entrelazado con riffs potentes y melodías encantadoras de una voz femenina clara y apasionada, y te darás una idea de lo que WHYZDOM ha logrado crear. Sus influencias clásicas que van desde el período romántico al contemporáneo, así como las melodías atractivas que impulsan las canciones, hacen su sonido absolutamente inconfundible en una escena cada vez mayor.

¡Hola mi amiga! ¿Cómo estás?

 

Hola José, gracias por tu apoyo! ¡Estoy bien!

  

¿Cuál es la historia de la gran voz de Marie Mac Leod?

 

Trabajo mucho, trabajo duro, tocar duro. Y también tengo suerte porque conocí a Whyzdom y puedo cantar canciones increíbles con melodías emotivas y pegadizas. Vynce, nuestro guitarrista y líder sabe cómo mejorar todos los aspectos de mi voz, y para ser verdad, me ayudó a descubrir nuevos dominios.

 

¡Tienes una hermosa voz! ¿Cómo fue tu entrenamiento vocal?

 

¡Gracias! Estudié canto de ópera con diferentes maestros (el último de Suren Shahi Djanyan) y al mismo tiempo tomé lecciones con Asphodel Aurélie Raidron (Pin Up Went Down, Penumbra, Samen)

Debo admitir que cantar con Whyzdom en grandes escenarios y 12 conciertos por año me dio un fondo real.

  

¿Cómo fue tu comienzo de este año?

 

Yo canto en casa para preparar el próximo álbum, y pronto voy a grabar con Vynce.

 

¿Cuál es tu rango vocal?

 

Soy mezzo-soprano pero no creo que realmente signifique algo. Puedo cantar bajo y alto también, en diferentes estilos de rock a ópera, e incluso gruñidos a veces.

 

¿Quién es Marie detrás de las escenas y en tu vida cotidiana?

 

Soy madre, esposa y trabajadora social. Y un cantante! Trato de ser una buena amiga y cuidar de mi familia. Tengo un gato, Lulu, que siempre maúlla cuando intento grabar algo en casa. Mi vida cotidiana es simple pero me da mucha felicidad.

 

Darkzen: eso es lo maravilloso mi amiga! Eres sencilla!

 

¿Tienes algún nuevo proyecto con otras bandas?

 

No, no lo haré y no lo haré.

  

Dentro del Metal, ¿qué es lo más importante para ti? Un álbum lleno de historia, un álbum lleno de música, o un álbum con una gran voz?

 

¡Tú puedes tenerlo todo! Tierra Santa, Angra por ejemplo. O La Odisea, Sinfonía X.

 

¿Cómo fue la experiencia del pasado MFVF 2016?

 

¡Nos lo pasamos de maravilla! Hemos preparado un espectáculo único con 4 coristas y estamos orgullosos de pertenecer a la familia de metal femenino. Fue genial ver de nuevo a todos los fans. Para mí fue un concierto especial porque era la primera vez que cantaba en el escenario después de ser madre, y debo decir que disfruté cantar de nuevo con Whyzdom, en esta etapa indescriptible.

  

¿Escribes algunas canciones de los álbumes de Whyzdom?

 

No escribo canciones pero doy mis ideas, Vynce y toda la banda elige las mejores ideas y melodías. Ese es el caso de la última hija de Eve, por ejemplo.

 

¿Habrá nuevo video para este 2017?

 

Probablemente grabaremos un nuevo video para el próximo álbum, tal vez al final del año.

  

¿Qué sorpresas tienes este año con tu banda?

 

Por ahora concentramos nuestra energía para el nuevo álbum.

 

¿Habrá alguna gira en América Latina o Europa?

 

Vamos a promover nuestro próximo álbum, me encantaría tocar en tu país... que significa tomar avión y un gran presupuesto... tal vez un día!
