Epinikion is a symphonic metal band settled in Belgium. The band is founded in 2020 by Renate de Boer on keys and Robert Tangerman on guitar. The lineup is completed by Eleonora Damiano on vocals. Levent Gasgil and Emre Demir joined on lead guitar and bass to complete the album. For the live shows Rico Snel (ex Adversarius) will join on lead guitar, besides Rusad Hassan (ex Aeternitas) on bass and Joeri Warmerdam (Phantom Elite) on drums.

After Robert and Renate had ended their topsport careers, Robert came up with the idea to do something in music. The combination of his electric guitar and Renate’s classical piano almost naturally lead to the choice for symphonic metal music. As a bandname they chose ‘Epinikion’, which means ‘hymne for the winner’. In Ancient Greece the heroic stories of athletes were sung in an epinikion after their victories at major events. A phoenix was added to the band logo, as a sign of athletes resurrected from their ashes as musicians. As a result of the passion and sports mentality of Robert and Renate, the band evolved rapidly. It gave rise to the need of professional music production. From the very beginning Epinikion combined heavy guitar riffs with subtle progressive and heavy metal influences, completed with harmonic and bombastic orchestral lines. The typical Epinikion sound is described as ‘epic, cinematic with captivating melodic lines. Refreshing Symphonic metal with a personal twist’.

My Recomendation

​

The album has a theatrical, epic and mystical overture, a period atmosphere, Inquisition the second song maintains the same line as the overture and starting with a narration with the beautiful voice of Eleonora, the marked line of chords is forcefully present , smooth and clean, the guitar solos are great in every moment they appear, in the next song Love So Sublime they appear more the guitars with more weight and the bass line, chords and rhythms a little heavier, with slow tempos, low and soft ones that make a good contrast, with Welcome To The Wonderful World Of Jealousy, there is more musical intensity, more melodic, harmonic and operatic sounds, in Stand Up And Fight we now listen to Loek Verlaan with an excellent Rock Metal! In On the Brink of Despair we hear an excellent piece of Symphonic Metal with a melodic power metal, modern with a lot of energy! In In The Middle Of The Night, now we hear the great voice of the soprano Tamara Bouwhuis, a beautiful elegant, soft and clean song, now she plays the opportunity of Sail Away a soft, atmospheric, clean, light and orchestral melody that after a soft start ends with a lot of melodic explosiveness! In False Faced Demon our dear Laura Guldemond making a presence in a more powerful and energetic way! With stronger chords keeping company, on If I Could Turn Back Time, he features two guest singers Monique de Bruin and Debby Zimmermann with another beautiful smooth, clean ballad with great vocal exposition accompanied by piano and soft strings.

The Inquisition album is a symphonic metal album sometimes with a little more Rock and sometimes Metal, as such with the classic epic, operatic, theatrical touch and exquisite sublime atmospheres, the orchestrations are throughout the album with the variation of smooth rhythms, slow to fast, regular tempos, melodic, harmonic, enriched and enhanced by symphonic parts of great composition sophisticated and carefully made, with excellent musicians and great voices, in fact this is what stands out most in the album, the vocal parts , is what is exposed the most, passing over to the musical part in some moments, the history of the album goes according to what is exposed musically, telling a dark part within human history.

The Voice

The beautiful voice of Eleonora Damiano manages in a majestic way the act between the balance of the high voice, register and deep, soft, clean and dark timbre, the other accompanying voices are equally excellent as those of Monique de Bruin and Debby Zimmermann and also the powerful voice of our Laura Guldemond!

Epinikion es una banda de metal sinfónico establecida en Bélgica. La banda es fundada en 2020 por Renate de Boer en los teclados y Robert Tangerman en la guitarra. La formación la completa Eleonora Damiano a la voz. Levent Gasgil y Emre Demir se unieron a la guitarra y el bajo para completar el álbum. Para los directos se sumará Rico Snel (ex Adversarius) en la guitarra solista, además de Rusad Hassan (ex Aeternitas) en el bajo y Joeri Warmerdam (Phantom Elite) en la batería.

Después de que Robert y Renate terminaron sus carreras en los mejores deportes, a Robert se le ocurrió la idea de hacer algo en la música. La combinación de su guitarra eléctrica y el piano clásico de Renate conduce casi naturalmente a la elección de la música de metal sinfónico. Como nombre de la banda eligieron 'Epinikion', que significa 'himno para el ganador'. En la Antigua Grecia, las historias heroicas de los atletas se cantaban en un epinikion después de sus victorias en los grandes eventos. Se agregó un fénix al logo de la banda, como un signo de los atletas resucitados de sus cenizas como músicos. Mi Recomendación

El albúm tiene una obertura teatral, épica y mística, una atmosfera de época, Inquisition la segunda canción mantiene la misma línea que la obertura y empezando con una narración con la bella voz de Eleonora, la marcada línea de acordes se hace presente de forma contundente, suave y limpia, los solos de guitarra son geniales en cada momento que aparecen, en la siguiente canción Love So Sublime aparecen más las guitarras con mayor peso y la línea del bajo, acordes y ritmos un poco más pesados, con tempos lentos, bajos y suaves que hacen buen contraste,  con Welcome To The Wonderful World Of Jealousy, hay más intensidad musical, sonidos más melódicos, armónicos y operísticos, en Stand Up And Fight ahora escuchamos a Loek Verlaan con un excelente Rock Metal! En On the Brink of Despair escuchamos una excelente pieza de Metal Sinfonico con un power metal melódicos, moderno con mucha energía!  En In The Middle Of The Night, ahora escuchamos la gran voz de la soprano Tamara Bouwhuis, una bella canción elegante, suave y limpia, ahora toca la oportunidad de Sail Away una melodía suave, atmosférica, limpia, ligera y orquestal que después de un inicio suave termina con mucha explosividad melodica! En False Faced Demon nuestra querida Laura Guldemond haciendo presencia de manera mas potente y enérgica! Con acordes más fuertes haciendo compañía,  en If I Could Turn Back Time, cuenta con dos cantantes invitadas Monique de Bruin y Debby Zimmermann con otra bella balada suave, limpia, con una gran exposición vocal acompañadas de piano y cuerdas suaves.

El albúm de Inquisition es un álbum de metal sinfónico a veces con un poco más de Rock y otras de Metal, como tal con el clásico toque épico, operístico, teatral y atmosferas sublimes exquisitas, las orquestaciones están en todo el albúm con la variación de ritmos suaves, lentos a rápidos, tempos regulares, melódicos, armónicos, enriquecidos y realzados por partes sinfónicas de gran composición sofisticada y hecha cuidadosamente, con excelentes músicos y grandes voces, de hecho esto es lo que más destaca en el albúm, las partes vocales, es lo que más se expone, sobre pasando a la parte musical en algunos momentos, la historia del albúm va acorde a lo expuesto musicalmente contando una parte oscura dentro de la historia humana.

La Voz

​

La bella voz de Eleonora Damiano maneja de manera majestuosa el acto entre el equilibrio de la voz alta, registro y timbre profundo, suave, limpio y oscuro, las demás voces acompañantes son de igual excelentes como las de Monique de Bruin y Debby Zimmermann y también la poderosa voz de nuestra Laura Guldemond!
