Lankester Merrin, just founded in 2019, are quickly p repa ring to become a serious heavyweight in the genre of female fronted melodic/power metal. The debut "Upon The Forgotten", released in 2021, was a first sign of life of a band that seems they had still to find its pl a ce, b u t less than two y e ars l a ter, the successor "Dark Mother Rises" is a result of a sheer explosive development.

 

"Dark Mother Rises" offers 9 powerful, mature melodic metal hymns, which are performed wi t h a sel f- conc e pti o n that even lo n g - established scene greats are sometimes unable to crown their

musical work with. The album impresses not only with its razorsharp riffing, great solos, driving drumming and the incisive v o ice of Cat Rogers, b ut al so wi t h its unbelievabl y sophisticated arrangements, which turn almost every song into a catchy one!

 

Recorded in spring 2022 at the Institut für Wohlklangforschungin Hannover (a.o. Drone, Grailknights) under the direction of Hannes Huke and Willi Dammeier, "Dark Mother Rises" is a first-class album for all fans of melodic metal who, despite the attribute "female fronted", do not expect symphonic metal, but simply powerful modern metal of the highest order.

Lankester Merrin band leaves us their second full-length album, with strong, forceful and melodic songs, it is a solid release with energy and catchy riffs, with guitar sounds, clean and thick, the drums have also improved, with the cymbals more penetrating, as in "The Heathen" and "Sweet Lizzie", the bass line with good passages at various times songs like "Medusa" and "The Heathen" with catchy melodies and also softer melodies like "Perfect Illusion", with a bit of pop style and lyrics, riffs and solos are consistent, one catchy song is "Evil Lives Here", with that dark style and strong mood that we can hear through Cat's voice with an undertone more intense guitar. "Dark Mother Rises" is a good heavy/melodic album with a solid and melodic power metal style, spacious production, decent hooks and also catchy choruses.

Lankester Merrin, recién fundada en 2019, se está preparando rápidamente para convertirse en un peso pesado serio en el género del power metal/melódico liderado por mujeres. El debut "Upon The Forgotten", lanzado en 2021, fue una primera señal de vida de una banda que parece que aún no ha encontrado su lugar, pero menos de dos años después, el sucesor "Dark Mother Rises" es como resultado de un desarrollo explosivo puro.

 

"Dark Mother Rises" ofrece 9 poderosos y maduros himnos de metal melódico, que se interpretan con un concepto propio de que incluso los grandes de la escena establecidos desde hace mucho tiempo a veces son incapaces de coronar sus logros. trabajo musical con el álbum impresiona no solo con sus riffs afilados, grandes solos, percusión y la incisiva voz de Cat Rogers, sino también con sus arreglos increíblemente sofisticados, ¡que convierten casi todas las canciones en pegadizas!

Lankester Merrin nos deja su albúm de segundo larga duración, con canciones fuertes, contundentes y melódicas, es un lanzamiento sólido con energía y riffs pegadizos, con sonidos de la guitarra, limpio y grueso, la batería también ha mejorado, con los platillos más penetrantes, como en "The Heathen" y "Sweet Lizzie" , la línea de bajo con buenos pasajes en varios momentos canciones como "Medusa" y "The Heathen" con melodías pegadizas y también unas melodías más suaves como "Perfect Illusion", con un estilo un poco de pop y letra, los riffs y solos son consistentes, una canción llamativa es "Evil Lives Here", con ese estilo oscuro y con un estado de ánimo fuerte que podemos escuchar a través de la voz de Cat con un tono más intenso de guitarra. "Dark Mother Rises" es un buen álbum de heavy/ melódico con un estilo de power metal, sólido y melódico, una producción espaciosa, con ganchos decentes y coros también pegadizos.
