¿Marcela How have you been?

Very busy, but very happy!

 

¿Marcela Bovio Who is right now? How do you feel about this new album?

 

I'm happy. This album will be a very important step for us, on the side of music and as a next step in the group's history.

 

¿His last album was in 2011 Darker Days, How successful was this album compared to this new album? What are the differences between the two albums?

 

With Darker Days went very well. We can not even compare with the result of this new album, as just going out; but so far the reviews of A War Of Our Own have been much more positive. Regarding differences I think this record is much more progressive.

 

¿What has evolved musically Stream of Passion?

 

I think we'll evolve to a more mature sound, we have much more clarity on what we want to achieve with our music. Like I said, this album has many progressive touches more than our previous material; but I like the melancholy themes, and the importance of melody and atmosphere remain the same.

 

¿What was the idea for the new album, which was the choice as the idea occurred to them? What is your story?

 

The idea was always to continue to refine our voice and our sound; I had a very clear idea that I wanted to do something a little more prog, and I think we've done pretty well. Yes, the period of composition was somewhat fragmented: started around 2012, then had a less productive period while we were specifying our crowdfunding campaign, and last summer finished writing.

 

¿Do you wrote some songs?

 

Yes, most of the songs and the ideas come from me. There was a topic I wrote with Daniel Cardoso Anathema, the rest with Johan and Joost van den Broek.

 

¿For many, we know that each album has its own style and story, his new album To War Of Our Own provided to us?

 

This album deals a lot with struggles; personal struggles against disease, depression. Also our struggle to get ahead as a group; and there are many themes inspired by the situation in Mexico due to the drug war. The message of the album is that no matter what type you fight wars, the power to succeed and overcome adversity lives within you.

 

¿We have heard some more parts in Spanish on this album compared to the previous effort What was the reason for this change?

 

It was not a conscious thing, really. When I write almost always begin with the melodies of the voice, without words; recorded arise when some words are lies and telling me if it must be in English or Spanish. Basically I let the melody tells me which language to use.

 

 

¿You wrote and recorded more material, Item thirteen more songs out there and if so, what will happen to it?

No, the twelve songs and a bonus track of everything mediabook is recorded.

 

¿Will there be a video clip more later of a song in particular?

 

Yes, is on the way but we stopped what song will surprise!

 

¿The cover art is very beautiful and aesthetic, courtesy of Alexandra Bach. How was the idea and has to do with the theme of the album?

 

It is based on the same idea of ​​seeking inner power to overcome adversity. Alexandra knew images capture in a very pretty way, we are very happy with the end result!

 

¿Will we have to Stream of Passion here in Latin America?

 

If it was for us and we would have gone and gotten a thousand times! Unfortunately it is an investment we can not do so alone and which continue to expect support from any promoter that invite us.

 

¿When will we have to Marcela Bovio here in our Mexican lands, listening to your great voice and talent?

Very sad! Hopefully not mean that other initiatives to organize similar events be discouraged. Let's keep going to concerts and supporting the scene for this not to happen!

¿Cómo has estado Marcela??

Ocupadísima, pero muy contenta!

 

¿Quién es Marcela Bovio en estos momentos? ¿Cómo te sientes con este nuevo álbum?

 

Estoy feliz. Este disco será un paso muy importante para nosotros, por el lado de la música y como siguiente paso en la historia del grupo.

 

Su último álbum fue Darker Days en 2011, ¿Qué tan exitoso fue este álbum, en comparación con este nuevo álbum? Cuáles son las diferencias entre ambos álbumes?

 

Con Darker Days nos fue muy bien. No podemos compararlo aún con el resultado de este nuevo disco, ya que apenas va a salir; pero hasta ahora las reseñas de A War Of Our Own han sido mucho más positivas. En cuanto a diferencias creo que este disco es mucho más progresivo.

 

¿En que ha evolucionado Stream of Passion musicalmente?

 

Creo que vamos evolucionando a un sonido más maduro, tenemos mucha más claridad de lo que queremos conseguir con nuestra música. Como te comentaba, este disco tiene muchos más toques progresivos que nuestro material anterior; pero me gusta que la melancolía  en los temas, y la importancia de la melodía y la atmósfera siguen siendo las mismas.

 

¿Cuál fue la idea para el nuevo álbum, cual fue la opción y como se les ocurrió la idea? ¿Cuál es su historia?

 

La idea siempre fue el seguir refinando nuestra voz y nuestro sonido; yo tenía muy clara la idea de que quería hacer algo un poco más prog, y en mi parecer lo hemos logrado bastante bien. Eso sí, el periodo de composición fue algo fragmentado: empezamos por ahí del 2012, luego tuvimos un periodo menos productivo mientras estábamos concretando nuestra campaña de crowdfunding, y por mediados del año pasado terminamos de escribir.

                                                                                   

¿Escribiste algunas canciones?

 

Sí, la mayor parte de las canciones y las ideas vienen de mí. Hubo un tema que compuse junto a Daniel Cardoso de Anathema, el resto junto a Johan y Joost van den Broek.

 

Para muchos, sabemos que cada álbum tiene un estilo propio y una historia,  su nuevo álbum ¿A War Of Our Own que nos brinda?

 

Este disco trata mucho con luchas; luchas personales contra la enfermedad, la depresión. También nuestra lucha como grupo por salir adelante; y también hay muchos temas inspirados en la situación en México, debido a la guerra contra las drogas. El mensaje del disco es que no importa a qué tipo de guerras te enfrentes, el poder para salir adelante y vencer la adversidad vive dentro de ti.

 

Hemos escuchado algunas partes más en español en este álbum en comparación con el esfuerzo anterior ¿Cuál fue la razón de este cambio?

 

No fue algo consciente, realmente. Cuando escribo empiezo casi siempre con las melodías de la voz, sin letra; cuando las grabo surgen algunas palabras de mentiras que ya me van diciendo si tiene que ser en inglés o en español. Básicamente dejo que la melodía me indique qué idioma usar.

 

¿Escribieron y grabaron más material de las trece canciones que hay y si es así, qué va a pasar con ello?

 

No, los doce temas y bonus track del mediabook es todo lo que grabamos.

 

¿Habrá algún video clip más adelante de alguna canción en especial?

 

Sí, ya viene en camino pero te dejo de sopresa qué canción será!

 

El arte del disco es muy hermosa y estética, cortesía de Alexandra Bach. ¿Cómo fue la idea y tiene que ver con la temática del disco?

 

Está basado en esa misma idea de buscar el poder interior para superar la adversidad. Alexandra lo supo plasmar en imágenes de una forma lindísima, estamos muy contentos con el resultado final!

 

¿Tendremos a Stream of Passion aquí en Latino América?

 

Si fuera por nosotros ya habríamos ido y vuelto mil veces! Desafortunadamente es una inversión que no podemos hacer solos y por lo cuales seguimos esperando apoyo de algún promotor que nos invite.

 

¿Cuándo tendremos a Marcela Bovio aquí en nuestras tierras Mexicanas, escuchando de tu gran voz y talento?
