Tragedy And Triumph is a long-kept project by Marius Berendsen (Mallevs Maleficarvm, Antares, Ex-Thyrgrim), which has been in the works since 2017 and is now being unleashed on mankind with the debut "Where Mountains Rise and Hearts Fall".

On this album, they present themselves in the best Viking/Melodic Death Metal manner and thus consistently powerful, groovy and of course correspondingly melodic. Stylistically the band mentions, not unjustly, influences from bands like Bathory and Amon Amarth, and still shows variety and experimentation on these 11 songs.

The album was recorded and produced by Marius Berendsen himself. Raphael Weller (Ad Nemori, Hrast) is responsible for the lyrics and vocals. He is giving each song a self-contained storyline, while at the same time all songs thematically revolve around the overriding theme of "Tragedy and Triumph" - and thus the embodiment of the band's name.

We start with an atmospheric, slow and sublime intro, a good overture for a strong and pagan rhythm of what will come next.

And as we begin soft and relaxing, a strong and forceful explosion embraces us on this next track, a march into a melodic storm full of death metal!

Five Arrows

Melodic chords, and forceful they receive us with Five Arrows, melodic rhythm and chords in a single line, the voice is great with a great sound and underground darkness, it is mixed in a forceful way with a lot of energy.

Where Fires March Victorious

A slower, higher chord start on those guitars with the slow beat of drums and guitars following.

Beneath the Howling Gate

Having a beat, rhythm similar to the previous song gives us a bit of speed later, throughout the track it is something similar with that combination of chords and the deep voice of Raphael Weller

My Recomendation

The album of Where Mountains Rise and Hearts Fall is a Melodic Death Metal with a varied style as they mention, Viking Metal and why not something of Atmospheric Black Metal, scales and rhythms of medium tempos with instrumental and atmospheric mixtures there is strength and forcefulness on drums that accompany with those high and strong chords in several of the songs, as in Five Arrows, the songs are solid and forceful, and almost have a style to a certain sense Symphonic without adding elements of this type, like the Eternal bands Tears of Sorrow or Dark Lunacy.

The singer Raphael Weller does a very good job throughout the album with guttural, sonorous, dark and underground voices, so we have a Melodic and Pagan Death Metal with such a combination, for all fans of the genre Where Mountains Rise and Hearts Fall album offers us music with a high Viking / Scandinavian dose.

Tragedy And Triumph es un proyecto de larga data de Marius Berendsen (Mallevs Maleficarvm, Antares, Ex-Thyrgrim), que ha estado en proceso desde 2017 y ahora se está desatando en la humanidad con el debut "Where Mountains Rise and Hearts Fall".

En este álbum, se presentan a sí mismos de la mejor manera Viking / Melodic Death Metal y, por lo tanto, consistentemente poderosos, maravillosos y, por supuesto, melódicos correspondientes. Estilísticamente, la banda menciona, no injustamente, influencias de bandas como Bathory y Amon Amarth, y aún muestra variedad y experimentación en estas 11 canciones.

Iniciamos con un intro atmosférico, lento y sublime, una buena obertura para un ritmo fuerte y pagano de lo que vendrá después.

I, Triumphant

Y así como iniciamos suaves y relajantes, una explosión fuerte y contundente nos abraza en este siguiente track, una marcha hacia una tormenta melódica llena de death metal!

Five Arrows

Acordes melódicos, y contundentes nos reciben con Five Arrows, ritmo melódico y acordes en una sola línea, la voz es genial con una gran sonoridad y oscuridad subterranea, se mezcla de forma contundente con mucha energía.

Where Fires March Victorious

Un inicio más lento y con acordes más agudos en esas guitarras con el seguimiento del compás lento de batería y guitarras.

Beneath the Howling Gate

Teniendo un compás, ritmo semejante a la canción anterior nos da un poco de velocidad posteriormente, en toda la pista es algo semejante con esa combinación de acordes y la voz profunda de Raphael Weller

Excelente inicio! Atmosférico y listos para la armada Vikinga! Abre con alto registro y compas, con acordes fuertes y velocidad.

Volvemos con un ritmo y compás lento, fuerte y manteniendo una sola línea en la escala de esos acordes y batería.

Ride for Revenge

Sonido y entrada musical potente, acordes más duros y batería con mayor fuerza, elevamos un poco mayor el ritmo y melodía.

Un inicio atmosférico y ambiental, acordes suaves y melancólicos son un sonido de viento de fondo que acompaña de forma genial, después la fuerte voz de Raphael acompañado de guitarras más potentes y mayor contundencia en la batería.

Otro inicio atmosférico, abrumador, desolador con acordes suaves y lentos que posteriormente nos asaltan con acordes más potentes y batería al mismo compas, que aumenta posteriormente con un mayor pedal en batería y volviendo a ese estado melódico.

Lost War

Un cierre instrumental con un piano con el mismo estilo y atmosfera ambiental.

Mi Recomendación

El albúm de Where Mountains Rise and Hearts Fall es un Death Metal Melódico con un estilo variado tal como ellos mencionan, el Viking Metal y porque no algo de Black Metal Atmosférico, escalas y ritmos de tempos medios con mezclas instrumentales y atmosféricas hay fuerza y contundencia en batería que acompañan con esos acordes altos y fuertes en varias de las canciones, como en Five Arrows, las canciones son sólidas y con contundencia, y casi tienen un estilo hasta cierto sentido Sinfónico sin meter elementos de este tipo, como las bandas de Eternal Tears of Sorrow o Dark Lunacy.
