Revoltons is an Italian power metal band that is presenting their latest album entitled "Underwater Bells Pt. 2: October 9th 1963 Act 1". This band is resuming their musical activity after some years of absence and changes in their line-up.

 

Underwater Bells Pt. 2: October 9th 1963 Act 1 is a conceptual album based on the Vajont tragedy in Italy in which a great wave surpassed the dam of the same name causing the destruction of the villages that were around.

 

Here’ss the review:

 

The musical proposal of those Italians takes up the foundations of power metal influenced by other genres such as progressive as is the case of Danger Silence Control. The narrative presented in the first seconds introduce the story behind this album where Andras Csaszar is presented to the world as a vocalist accompanied by an instrumentation dominated by drums and guitars.

 

The Stars of Night Before

 

Takes up some characteristic trash metal chords appropriating them to give strength to their musical identity. The vocal performance is rhythmic with some phrases that will begin to rumble in your head especially in the part of the chorus where a higher voice range is used adding intensity to the song.

 

Slowmotion Apocalypse

 

Is an instrumental song whose chords remind us of Dream Theater and presents a drastic change in the sound of the band, however, in their last notes a link with their next song is presented: Mary and the Children. This song is characterized by a more melodic sound with a catchy refrain whose execution of the guitars of Matt and Sergio Corona almost at the end of the song show their technique and virtuosity.

 

A second instrumental element is presented on October 9th 1963. This song combines technique and feeling through music as the band has sought to create an image in the listener that describes the daily life in the surrounding towns to the dam and then describe the chaos and the destruction caused by the fall of this great wave. A complex melody for the accumulation of emotions that it brings, but that adds realism to the conceptual part of this album.

 

Andras Csaszar is a vocalist who can evoke different sensations and feelings as is the case with Erase! New Earth Lord where his interpretation denotes hatred and frustration at the unnatural disaster in Italy. Hypnos and Thanatos have the presence of guttural and feminine voices that give this album greater versatility and drama without leaving its roots.

 

Primal Shock

 

Shows a more aggressive and heavy sound. The duality between guttural and clean voices shows that the story developed by Alex Corona has reached a critical point. It is one of the songs with less duration of the album and that breaks with the atmosphere of sadness and frustration presented in its previous songs.

 

The use of an acute vocal range with melodic and progressive dyes without losing its roots rooted in power metal is presented in The Powerless Wrath whose chords remind the iron lady. Criminal Organism is characterized by the constant changes of sound and show the accumulation of musical influences of each of its members, forming a fresh and dynamic proposal.

 

Grandmasters of Death

 

Is the song that closes this album and has the presence of Blaze Bayley (ex-Iron Maiden) reminding us of the old metal school of which he was a participant characterized by heavy riffs and serious notes.

 

Revoltons presents an interesting proposal product of the musical experience of their members coupled with the presence of musicians of different genres within the world metal scene such as Aydan and Rafahel (Elvenking), Michele Guaitoli (Temperance, Visions of Atlantis) and Alessia Scoletti (Temperance) who brought personality and variety to the band's sound. Underwater Bells Pt. 2: October 9th 1963 Act 1 is an album that begins to lay the foundations of melodic power metal characterized by sticky and rhythmic songs in combination with the intensity and speed in the performance of musical instruments that illustrates an historical event of great importance.

Revoltons es una banda italiana de power metal que está presentando su último álbum titulado: "Underwater Bells Pt. 2: October 9th 1963 Act 1". Esta agrupación está retomando su actividad musical después de algunos años de ausencia y cambios de alineación.

 

Underwater Bells Pt. 2: October 9th 1963 Act 1 es un álbum conceptual basado en la tragedia Vajont en Italia en el que una gran ola sobrepasó la presa del mismo nombre causando la destrucción de los poblados que se encontraban alrededor.

La propuesta musical de estos italianos retoma las bases del power metal influenciado por otros géneros como el progresivo como es el caso de Danger Silence Control. La narrativa que se presenta en los primeros segundos introduce a la historia detrás de este álbum donde Andras Csaszar se presenta ante el mundo como vocalista acompañado por una instrumentación dominada por la batería y las guitarras.

 

The Stars of Night Before

 

Retoma algunos acordes característicos del trash metal apropiándose de ellos para darle fuerza a su identidad musical. La ejecución vocal es rítmica con algunas frases que comenzarán a retumbar en tu cabeza sobre todo en la parte del estribillo donde se hace empleo de un rango de voz más agudo añadiéndole intensidad a la canción.

 

Slowmotion Apocalypse

 

Es una canción instrumental cuyos acordes nos recuerdan a Dream Theater y presenta un cambio drástico en el sonido de la banda, sin embargo, en sus últimas notas se presenta una vinculación con su siguiente canción: Mary and the Children. Esta canción se caracteriza por un sonido más melódico con un estribillo pegadizo cuya ejecución de las guitarras de Matt y Sergio Corona casi al término de la canción dan muestra de su técnica y virtuosismo.

 

Un segundo elemento instrumental se presenta en October 9th 1963. Esta canción combina técnica y sentimiento a través de la música pues la banda ha buscado crear una imagen en el oyente que describa la cotidianeidad en las poblaciones aledañas a la presa para después describir el caos y la destrucción ocasionada por la caída de esta gran ola. Una melodía compleja por el cúmulo de emociones que trae consigo, pero que le añade realismo a la parte conceptual de este álbum.

 

Andras Csaszar es un vocalista que puede evocar diferentes sensaciones y sentimientos como es el caso de Erase! New Earth Lord donde su interpretación denota odio y frustración ante el desastre no natural acontecido en Italia. Hypnos and Thanatos tiene la presencia de voces femeninas y guturales que le brindan mayor versatilidad y dramatismo a este álbum sin dejar sus raíces.

 

Primal Shock

 

Muestra un sonido más agresivo y pesado. La dualidad entre voces guturales y limpias muestran que la historia desarrollada por Alex Corona ha llegado a un punto crítico. Es una de las canciones con menor duración del álbum y que rompe con la atmósfera de tristeza y frustración presentada en sus canciones anteriores.

 

El empleo de un rango vocal agudo con tintes melódicos y progresivos sin perder sus raíces fincadas en el power metal se presenta en The Powerless Wrath cuyos acordes recuerdan a la dama de hierro. Criminal Organism se caracteriza por los constantes cambios de sonido y dan muestra del cúmulo de influencias musicales de cada uno de sus integrantes conformando en su conjunto una propuesta fresca y dinámica.

 

Grandmasters of Death

 

Es la canción que cierra este álbum y que cuenta con la presencia de Blaze Bayley (ex-Iron Maiden) recordándonos a la vieja escuela del metal de la que fue partícipe caracterizado por riffs pesados y notas graves.

 

Revoltons presenta una propuesta interesante producto de la experiencia musical de sus integrantes aunado a la presencia de músicos de diferentes géneros dentro de la escena del metal a nivel mundial como Aydan y Rafahel (Elvenking), Michele Guaitoli (Temperance, Visions of Atlantis) y Alessia Scoletti (Temperance) quienes le aportaron personalidad y variedad al sonido de la banda. Underwater Bells Pt. 2: October 9th 1963 Act 1 es un álbum que comienza a sentar las bases del power metal melódico caracterizado por canciones pegajosas y rítmicas en combinación con la intensidad y la rapidez en la ejecución de los instrumentos musicales y que permite ilustrar un acontecimiento histórico de gran importancia.
