Next Door To Heaven was formed in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 2014. The band was founded by Gene Mazunov and Dasha Mazunova. Next Door To Heaven plays progressive/alternative metal/metalcore. The band’s debut album “Let’s Dream” was released in 2016. The album made the top-20 on Google Play. That same year, the band became one of the finalists in the Emergenza International festival. Their sophomore album “V Ways To Accept” was released in June 2019 via Sliptrick Records. The band has opened for bands such as RED and Tesseract and continues to support their material with tours across Europe.
Now in 2021, the band released independently release their new EP “Inside” on March 25th, which features guest vocals from Lord Nelson (ex-Stuck Mojo).

How have you been Dasha these months?
Dasha:
Differently. Most of the time I’ve been busy preparing the upcoming EP “Inside”. Sometimes depressed because of the lack of concerts and closed borders, as many other musicians were, I suppose.
Darkzen:
Hopefully this will happen soon.
How long have you been in the Metal scene? How did you get started in this musical genre?
Dasha:
Since I was a teenager but actively since 2014. There was no purpose to play metal only. I’ve been trying to find genres that will show who I am and will let me be myself.
Your biggest musical influences? Favorite vocalists? Your hobbies? Tell us a little about yourself!
Dasha:
I’ve never thought about influences because I’m a melomaniac. My favourite vocalists include Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Howard Jones, Nik “Kin” Etik and many others.
My hobbies are traveling, poetry, visiting cool concerts, mushroom hunting.
The style of your band is unusual, progressive / alternative metal / metalcore, why this combination? Your "Inside" EP has great songs!
Dasha:
Thank you! It’s not that we chose to play it. We found ourselves in this kind of music. It’s heavy, melodic with changing musical scales and vocally untypical for a female-fronted band. This is us at the moment.
The composition and lyrics of your Inside EP, are entirely from who or who contributed?
Dasha:
I’m a lyricist of Next Door To Heaven. I started writing when I was at school. Topics are very different except for unicorns and rainbows I guess. :)
The EP consists of 5 tracks, Any favorite song for you?
Dasha:
I’d say “Inside” and “Flare Up”. They are very different. “Inside” is a very deep track with double meaning. “Flare Up” is very positive and pushy with some amazing rap stuff from Lord Nelson.
Darkzen:
This is what I was telling you, you have a different combination!
Now related to your EP, will a full album be developed? With this same theme in the songs?
Dasha:
We don’t like to use something twice. So I think our next work will be something new, something unheard of before.
You have another great collaboration with Lord Nelson (Ex-Stuck Mojo), we send our regards! How about collaborating with him? A style a little different from his EP
Dasha:
He’s a great person and a professional. It was nice working with him! As we’re melomaniacs, I suppose we’ll make more surprising collaborations in the future. Lord Nelson’s vocals suited our track very well and helped to make it even more powerful.

Well, the song fit very well!

Next Door To Heaven se formó en San Petersburgo, Rusia, en 2014. La banda fue fundada por Gene Mazunov y Dasha Mazunova. Next Door To Heaven toca metal progresivo / alternativo / metalcore. El álbum debut de la banda, "Let’s Dream", se lanzó en 2016. El álbum llegó al top 20 en Google Play. Ese mismo año, la banda se convirtió en una de las finalistas del festival Emergenza International. Su segundo álbum, "V Ways To Accept", fue lanzado en junio de 2019 a través de Sliptrick Records. ¿Cómo has estado Dasha estos meses?
Dasha:
Diferentemente. La mayor parte del tiempo he estado ocupada preparando el próximo EP "Inside". A veces deprimida por la falta de conciertos y las fronteras cerradas, como muchos otros músicos, supongo.
Darkzen:
Esperemos que pronto esto pase.
¿Cuánto tiempo llevas en la escena del Metal? ¿Cómo te iniciaste en este género musical?
Dasha:
Desde que era adolescente pero activamente desde 2014. No tenía ningún propósito tocar metal solamente. He estado tratando de encontrar géneros que muestren quién soy y me permitan ser yo misma.
¿Tus mayores influencias musicales? Vocalistas favoritos? ¿Tus pasatiempos? ¡Cuéntanos un poco sobre ti!
Dasha:
Nunca pensé en las influencias porque soy melómana. Mis vocalistas favoritos incluyen a Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Howard Jones, Nik "Kin" Etik y muchos otros.
Mis pasatiempos son los viajes, la poesía, las visitas a conciertos interesantes, la caza de setas.

Dasha:
¡Gracias! No es que decidiéramos tocarlo. Nos encontramos en este tipo de música. Es pesado, melódico con escalas musicales cambiantes y vocalmente atípico para una banda encabezada por una mujer. Estos somos nosotros en este momento.
La composición y la letra de tu Inside EP, ¿Son enteramente de quién o quién contribuyó?
Dasha:
Soy letrista de Next Door To Heaven. Empecé a escribir cuando estaba en la escuela. Los temas son muy diferentes a excepción de unicornios y arcoíris, supongo. :)
El EP consta de 5 pistas, ¿Alguna canción favorita para ti?
Dasha:
Diría "Adentro" y "Flare Up". Ellos son muy diferentes. “Inside” es un tema muy profundo con doble sentido. “Flare Up” es muy positivo y agresivo con algunas cosas increíbles de rap de Lord Nelson.
Darkzen:
Es lo que te comentaba, tienen una combinación diversa!
Ahora relacionado con tu EP, ¿se desarrollará un álbum completo? ¿Con este mismo tema en las canciones?
Dasha:
No nos gusta usar algo dos veces. Así que creo que nuestro próximo trabajo será algo nuevo, algo inaudito antes.
Tienes otra gran colaboración con Lord Nelson (Ex-Stuck Mojo), ¡te enviamos nuestros saludos! ¿Qué tal colaborar con él? Un estilo un poco diferente a su EP
Dasha:
Es una gran persona y un profesional. ¡Fue agradable trabajar con él! Como somos melómanos, supongo que haremos colaboraciones más sorprendentes en el futuro. La voz de Lord Nelson encajaba muy bien con nuestra pista y ayudó a hacerla aún más poderosa.
Darkzen:
Pues les quedo muy bien la canción!
