It is the sixth studio album by the Dutch symphonic metal band Delain. It was released on February 7, 2020 under the seal of Napalm Records.

​

APOCALYPSE & CHILL is the follow up to their chart hitting record Moonbathers. The album carefully yet powerfully weaves together violent riffs, synth heavy themes and fully orchestrated compositions, while the vocals possess a fresh frenzy that is sure to convince Delain fans and new listeners alike. Running as a red thread through the album thematically is a sense of impending doom and human indifference to it.

“We think this APOCALYPSE & CHILL will surprise our listeners” the band states. “It is heavy with new influences and we’re really curious to find out how our audience will respond to that. However, it also deepens the sounds and atmospheres that people have come to know from us. This album is taking all of that to the next level. We are very excited about this release and can’t wait to share it with the world.”

The album brings listeners thirteen brand new tracks, including guest appearance by Beast In Black’s Yannis Papadoupolis, and three orchestral tracks of film score quality, that will transport listeners to a different world. Dystopia or utopia? You decide.

«One Second»          

​

Beautiful sublime background voice input, immediately infuses us into Charlotte's super voice with backing vocals and the masculine combination of the voice, keyboard notes with very sentimental emotions, short riffs, a very melodic song.

​

«We Had Everything»

​

Excellent! I love the power of those guitar chords and bass, seductive and angelic voice of Charlotte gives a very catchy rhythmic / melodic impulse, touch clearer to the entire track and sour with a riff to everything that gives but very brief.

​

«Chemical Redemption»

​

A very powerful entry, for the style and musical rhythm handled in the previous songs, on this track the drums are heard with greater force and with more presence, background choirs that accompany this song at all times with a short riff as in the previous.

«Burning Bridges»

​

Spectacular entrance! Blunt and heavy chords, which are combined with Charlotte's melodic voice with sharp and clean records, musical notes with medium time scales, and when she makes her throaty voice it's great! and the most symphonic choirs give more theatrical context to the music track!

«Vengeance»

​

Epic musical entrance and with a bit of power metal style, together with guest singer Yannis Papadopoulos, both the beautiful voice of Charlotte and Yannis work perfectly on a harmonic and very very melodic journey reminding us of duets as of Avantasia for example.

«To Live Is to Die»

​

A more progressive style and chord without a doubt, those tempos between the guitars and drums are great, in addition to heavy, Charlotte's overwhelming performance with the background choirs is very atmospheric that content.

«Let's Dance»

​

A more melancholic sound and style with the lyrics based on more current events so you can hear and understand, lower musical scale and a slightly longer riff in time with greater emphasis.

«Creatures»

​

Strong input, Heavy and aggressive, I think we can hear a slightly different musical style here, it has great chords, Charlotte's voice becomes more sublime, possibly the musical style is the djent, let's hear the heavy guitar chord very well tuned and very serious and distorted throughout the track.

My Recomendation

​

It is a album created with time and dedication, it has different musical styles, without losing the essence of what Delain is and his musical evolution, Delain naturally prides himself on elegant and luxurious arrangements that are overwhelming and dominant, as in Moonbathers of 2016, this new album It has catchy melodies and musical complexity, the cover artwork of the album shows us a human indifference to what we are currently going through and not only the cover of the album, in the promotional photo it shows it, in a world where only the self matters, and the band makes a perfect anthem of protest against this.

​

In the musical part it is created masterfully the album is apocalypse! A storm of great sounds! So it is an album where you are in an apocalypse and / or prefer to relax.

​

The characteristic and forceful sound of Delain is the strong part of the band, heavy guitars, heavy chords, mix of styles throughout the album, aggressive drums, orchestral synthesizers, choirs, unique symphonic aspects, excellent guest artists.

​

The Voice

​

Charlotte's voice has always been one of the consecrated voices within the scene! A spectacular record that is the same from the first time, clear, clean, high voice range and perfectly combined with the musical changes in each song and with the guest artists, a majestic part is the guttural in Burning Bridges, a big congratulation !

Es el sexto álbum de estudio de la banda neerlandesa de metal sinfónico Delain. Fue lanzado el 7 de febrero del 2020 bajo el sello de Napalm Records.

​

APOCALYPSE & CHILL es el seguimiento de su registro de éxitos en Moonbathers. El álbum cuidadosamente pero con fuerza que entrelaza riffs violentos, temas pesados ​​de sintetizador y composiciones totalmente orquestadas, mientras que las voces poseen un nuevo frenesí que seguramente convencerá a los fanáticos de Delain y a los nuevos oyentes. Correr como un hilo rojo a través del álbum temáticamente es una sensación de fatalidad inminente e indiferencia humana hacia él.

"Creemos que este APOCALYPSE & CHILL sorprenderá a nuestros oyentes", afirma la banda. "Está lleno de nuevas influencias y tenemos mucha curiosidad por saber cómo responderá nuestra audiencia a eso. Bella entrada de voz de fondo sublime, inmediatamente nos infunde dentro de la súper voz de Charlotte con voces de fondo de coro y la combinación masculina de la voz, notas de teclado con emociones muy sentimentales, riffs cortos, una canción muy melódica.

​

«We Had Everything»

​

Excelente! Me encanta la potencia de esos acordes de guitarra y Bajo, la voz seductora y angelical de Charlotte le da un impulso rítmico/melódica muy pegadizo, toque más claro a toda la pista y agridulce con un riff a todo lo que da pero muy breve.

​

«Chemical Redemption»

​

Una entrada muy potente, para el estilo y ritmo musical manejado en las anteriores canciones, en esta pista se escucha con mayor fuerza la batería y con más presencia, coros de fondo que acompañan en todo momento a esta canción con un riff breve como en las anteriores.

​

«Burning Bridges»

​

Espectacular entrada! Acordes contundentes y pesados, que se conjuntan con la melódica voz de Charlotte con registros agudos y limpios, notas musicales con escalas en tiempo medios, y cuando hace la voz gutural es grandiosa! y los coros más sinfónicos le dan más contexto teatral a la pista musical!

«Vengeance»

​

Entrada musical épica y con un poco de estilo de power metal, junto al cantante invitado Yannis Papadopoulos, tanto la bella voz de Charlotte y Yannis trabajan perfectamente en un viaje armónico y muy muy melódico recordándonos a los duetos como de Avantasia por ejemplo.

​

«To Live Is to Die»

​

Un estilo y acorde más progresivo sin duda, esos tempos entre las guitarras y batería son geniales, además de pesados, el contundente rendimiento de Charlotte junto a los coros de fondo es muy atmosférico ese contenido.

​

«Let's Dance»

​

Un sonido y estilo más melancólico con la letra con base a eventos más actuales por lo que se puede escuchar y entender, escala musical más baja y un riff un poco más largo en tiempo con mayor énfasis.

​

«Creatures»

​

Fuerte entrada, Pesada y agresiva, creo que aquí podemos escuchar un estilo musical un poco distinto, tiene unos acordes geniales, la voz de Charlotte se torna más sublime, posiblemente el estilo musical sea el djent, escuchemos el acorde pesado de guitarra muy  bien afinada y muy grave y con distorsión en toda la pista.

«Ghost House Heart»

​

Wow! Que cambio de estilo musical, piano y la bella voz limpia y clara en su totalidad de Charlotte, junto a una acústica de violín majestuoso, y así como inicia con piano así finaliza, una pieza magistral con piano.

​

«Masters of Destiny»

​

Sonidos más ambientales y folk al inicio, posteriormente una tormenta de acordes de guitarra y batería, con coros de fondo acompañando a la voz de Charlotte, cambiando a un ritmo más lento y elevándose de acuerdo a los cambios de registro de ella.

​

«Legions of the Lost»

​

Un estruendo musical desbordante! Coros como conductor de este drama hecho música, un acorde pesado, batería contundente, la narrativa de la voz de Charlotte nos conduce a un sueño de legiones de la perdición, el riff aguerrido se hace presencia y ya en la fase final muy instrumental.

​

«The Greatest Escape»

​

Una bella entrada con piano acompañada de guitarras/batería en la obertura de Charlotte, se inclina hacia unos clichés, con instrumentación sofisticada, el estilo de la banda y clásica que no se puede evitar ser cautivado por la música y la voz de Charlotte, tiene excelentes sonidos sinfónicos de fondo.

«Combustion»

​

El gran albúm cierra con esta entrada brutal llena de emoción y melancolía, un acorde dramático y extenso, después batería y guitarras nos ofrecen la fuerza con la que cuenta la agrupación, una canción totalmente musical con varios tempos geniales, y solos de varios de los instrumentos.

Mi Recomendación

​

Es un albúm creado con tiempo y dedicación, tiene diferentes estilos musicales, sin perder la esencia de lo que es Delain y su evolución musical, Delain se enorgullece naturalmente de arreglos elegantes y lujosos contundentes y dominantes, como en Moonbathers de 2016, este nuevo albúm tiene melodías pegadizas y de complejidad musical,  el cover artwork del albúm nos muestra una indiferencia humana por lo que estamos pasando actualmente y no solo la portada del albúm, en la foto promocional hace muestra de ello, en un mundo donde solo importa el yo, y la banda hace un perfecto himno de protesta ante esto.

​

La cuestión musical es creado de forma magistral el albúm es apocalipsis! Una tormenta de sonidos geniales! Así que es un álbum donde estas en un apocalipsis y/o prefieres relajarte.

​

El sonido característico y contundente de Delain es la parte fuerte de la banda, guitarras pesadas, acordes pesados, mezcla de estilos a lo largo del albúm, batería agresiva, sintetizadores de orquesta, coros, aspectos sinfónicos únicos, excelentes artistas invitados.

​

La Voz

​

La voz de Charlotte siempre ha sido una de las voces consagradas dentro de la escena! Un registro espectacular que es la misma desde la primera vez, clara, limpia, rango de voz aguda y se combina perfectamente con los cambios musicales en cada canción y con los artistas invitados, una parte majestuosa es el gutural en Burning Bridges, una gran felicitación!
