Bio:

The Secret Rule shows are a concentrated of energy, a mix of heavy guitar riffs, with electronic elementes and incredible keyboard lines.

​

A total impact between metal music and awesome melodies.

 

The band released three album: “Transposed Emotions” (2015), “Machination” (2016) and “The key to the world” (2017) the band has been building a solid fan base supported by their live activity and featured special guests like Aylin (Sirenia), Stefan Helleblad (Within Temptation), Henrik Klingenberg (Sonata Arctica), Timo Somers (Delain), Sander Zoer (Delain, Leah), Henning Basse (Mayan, Firewind).

 

Secret Rule, played a lot of shows all over the Europe, including headlining european tours, sharing the stage with great bands such as Delain, Beyond the Black, Xandria, Serenity, Kobra & the Lotus, Blaze Bayley, Visions of Atlantis and Cellar Darling and performing festivals including the Barcia Metal Fest and the Metal Fest Event - Femme.

Hi! My friend! Thank you very much for this interview again!

 

How are you Angela?

 

I’m fine, thanks J It’s a pleasure to talk to you again.

 

Darkzen:  me too!

 

Tell us a little about yourself in this year 2018, what projects have you done?

 

Angela:

 

This year started with a great experience: we went on tour supporting Serenity and Visions of Atlantis! We met a lot of wonderful people, we played in such nice venues and we hope to come back on tour with them in the future.

 

We also had headlining tours in the North of Europe and in Poland! We played in two cool festivals, the Barcia Metal fest in Torreperogil (Spain) where we had an excellent feedback from the crowd and the press, and we played at the Female Metal Fest – Femme where Beyond The Black and Cellar Darling were the headliners. We ended the year supporting another great band, Haggard, so, I'm very happy of our live performances!

Then we worked at our fourth album, this time we took care of every single detail by ourselves. We can’t wait for you to listen to our new songs and also to play them live.

 

Darkzen: WOW! I'll be waiting for those songs!

 

Tell us about your new álbum ‘The 7 Endless’ How was the production?

 

Angela:

 

It has been a bit different this time, because we took care of every detail about the production. It was a great challenge for us, but in the same time extremely interesting. Our new album is a concept album, so we needed the music to follow all the aspects of the words, with all emotional sensations. Anyway, the production procedure has been the same more or less, we started from some of my melodies or sometimes from Andy’s riffs. Then we built the songs step by step, but this time there was a great work on rhythmic parts with Nicola & Michele… We wanted different atmospheres, sometimes heavy, sometimes catchy, sometimes melancholy. We’re very happy of the final result.

 

 

The Concept of the 7 Endless, i know is about -seven beings that exist because, deep in our hearts, we know that they exist- They are Dream, Death, Destiny, Desire, Desperation, Destruction and Delirium, what does mean every one for you?

 

Angela:

 

They are all entities with whom I had to deal in my life path. I often think about Death. I think it's something so mysterious we're afraid of but sometimes it seduces us… And we always think about our Destiny, so I think that everyone understands the meaning of these entities and everyone has a personal relationship with them.

 

How do you combination this concept with the sound of Secret rule?

 

Angela:

 

As I said before, in this new album our sound is heavier and follows the story and every mood the main character feels during her path.

 

How were the lyrics of the album composed, for you?

 

Angela:

 

Before I've read again all "The Sandman" comic book to enter in the atmosphere of the concept and I also studied deeper all the entities. Then I thought about a woman and about how she could meet them in her life. So I started to write the plot of the story and finally, lyric by lyric like a sort of puzzle. It was funny and at the end I'm very satisfied.

 

What mean for you the new single "The Endless"? Why this song?

 

Angela:

 

The story of the concept album starts with the second song. The first song is "The Endless": I wanted to introduce these entities to people and give them a value.

 

What does mean the art work of this album?

 

Angela:

 

We wanted a different artwork than the previous ones, as we wanted a new sound. Something fresh and immediate. Obviously it represents the 7 Endless.

 

 

Tell us about the tour with the presentation of your new álbum, with which other bands are going to go on tour?

 

Angela:

 

We’ll start the promotion in February with our friends Sleeping Romance in Italy. We're so excited about it! We're working on new shows and we can’t wait to play live again.

 

There will be a video of some song from ‘The 7 Endless’?

 

Angela:

 

Of course! But I can’t reveal the song.

 

What can we expect as fans of this new album?

 

Angela:

 

I'm really curious too! LOL!The new album will bring the listeners in a hurricane of emotions, I'm sure about it. As you know, we are not a standard symphonic metal band (as many people believe), we just play our music without a model, so you can find heavy parts, trash riffs, symphonic atmospheres, catchy choruses, electronic inserts… This is not an album for people who look for an exact music genre. We want to open minds… music is for everyone, music has no borders, music is not a cliché.

Cuéntanos un poco sobre ti en este año 2018, ¿Qué proyectos has hecho?

 

Angela

 

Este año comenzó con una gran experiencia: ¡fuimos de gira apoyando Serenity and Visions of Atlantis! Conocimos a mucha gente maravillosa, tocamos en lugares tan agradables y esperamos volver a hacer una gira con ellos en el futuro.

 

¡También tuvimos giras principales en el norte de Europa y en Polonia! Tocamos en dos festivales geniales, el Barcia Metal Fest en Torreperogil (España), donde recibimos excelentes comentarios de la multitud y la prensa, y tocamos en el Female Metal Fest - Femme, donde Beyond The Black y Cellar Darling fueron los protagonistas. Terminamos el año apoyando a otra gran banda, Haggard, así que, ¡estoy muy feliz de nuestras presentaciones en vivo!

 

Luego trabajamos en nuestro cuarto álbum, esta vez cuidamos cada detalle por nosotros mismos. No podemos esperar a que escuches nuestras nuevas canciones y también a que las toquemos en vivo.

Cuéntanos sobre tu nuevo álbum ‘The 7 Endless’. ¿Cómo fue la producción?

 

Angela

 

Ha sido un poco diferente esta vez, porque cuidamos cada detalle de la producción. Fue un gran desafío para nosotros, pero al mismo tiempo extremadamente interesante. Nuestro nuevo álbum es un álbum conceptual, por lo que necesitábamos que la música siguiera todos los aspectos de las palabras, con todas las sensaciones emocionales. De todos modos, el procedimiento de producción ha sido más o menos el mismo, partimos de algunas de mis melodías o, a veces, de los riffs de Andy. Luego construimos las canciones paso a paso, pero esta vez hubo un gran trabajo sobre partes rítmicas con Nicola y Michele ... Queríamos ambientes diferentes, a veces pesados, a veces pegajosos, a veces melancólicos. Estamos muy contentos del resultado final.

 

 

El Concepto de ‘The 7 Endless’, se trata de siete seres que existen en lo más profundo de nuestros corazones, sabemos que existen: son Sueño, Muerte, Destino, Deseo, Desesperación, Destrucción y Delirio, ¿qué significa cada uno? ¿para ti?

 

Angela

 

Todas son entidades con las que tuve que lidiar en el camino de mi vida. A menudo pienso en la muerte. Creo que es algo tan misterioso que tememos, pero a veces nos seduce ... Y siempre pensamos en nuestro Destino, así que creo que todos entienden el significado de estas entidades y todos tenemos una relación personal con ellas.

¿Cómo combinas este concepto con el sonido de Secret Rule?

 

Angela

 

Como dije antes, en este nuevo álbum nuestro sonido es más pesado y sigue la historia y cada estado de ánimo que el personaje principal siente durante su camino.

 

¿Cómo fueron compuestas las letras del álbum, por ti?

 

Angela

 

Antes de volver a leer todos los cómics de "The Sandman" para entrar en la atmósfera del concepto y también estudié más a fondo todas las entidades. Luego pensé en una mujer y en cómo podría conocerla en su vida. Así que empecé a escribir la trama de la historia y, finalmente, letra por letra como una especie de rompecabezas. Fue divertido y al final estoy muy satisfecho.

 

¿Qué significa para ti el nuevo single "The Endless"? Porque esta canción?

 

Angela

 

La historia del álbum conceptual comienza con la segunda canción. La primera canción es "The Endless": quería presentar estas entidades a las personas y darles un valor.

 

¿Qué significa la obra de arte de este álbum?

 

Angela

 

Queríamos una obra de arte diferente a las anteriores, ya que queríamos un nuevo sonido. Algo fresco e inmediato. Obviamente representa los 7 Endless.

 

Cuéntanos sobre la gira con la presentación de tu nuevo álbum, ¿Con qué otras bandas van a ir de gira?

 

Angela

 

Comenzaremos la promoción en febrero con nuestros amigos Sleeping Romance en Italia. Estamos muy emocionados por ello! Estamos trabajando en nuevos programas y no podemos esperar para volver a tocar en vivo.

 

¿Habrá un video de alguna canción de 'The 7 Endless'?

 

Angela

 

¡Por supuesto! Pero no puedo revelar la canción.

 

 

¿Qué podemos esperar como fans de este nuevo álbum?

 

Angela

 

¡También tengo mucha curiosidad! LOL! El nuevo álbum traerá a los oyentes en un huracán de emociones, estoy seguro de ello. Como saben, no somos una banda estándar de metal sinfónico (como mucha gente cree), simplemente tocamos nuestra música sin un modelo, por lo que puede encontrar partes pesadas, riffs de thrash, atmósferas sinfónicas, coros pegajosos, inserciones electrónicas ... Esto no es un álbum para las personas que buscan un género musical exacto. Queremos abrir la mente ... la música es para todos, la música no tiene fronteras, la música no es un cliché.
