For more than 30 years, FINAL CRY have been a constant part of the German metal scene and now present their sixth longplayer with the mountaineering epic "The Ever-Rest". Once again, the band succeeds in reinventing themselves without losing sight of their roots.

 

Their sound, still rooted in thrash metal, captivates with merciless riffing, raging drums and a great feeling for melodies and atmosphere and builds a bridge between the classic thrash of the 80s and the dark Scandinavian styles of the 90s, which have increasingly found their way into the band's sound since "Neptune's Relief" (2007) at the latest. After guitarist Eiko took up the Mike on the previous album "Zombique", this position has now been filled by Kai Wilhelm (Across The Burning Sky, a.o.). His nasty screams and growls not only give the band's sound a new note, but also fit the album's deadly, frosty scenario like a glove.

 

The overall concept, for which Burghardt Sonnenburg is once again responsible for the content, is rounded off by a 20-page story booklet, which tell the real stories that form the basis of each individual song. Herbie Langhans (AVANTASIA) and Børd Wäsche (EYE SEE BLACK) were also enlisted for some backing vocals and choirs, which support the epic depth of the album's theme.

 

"The Ever-Rest" was recorded at Soundlodge Studio under the wing of Jörg Uken and is undoubtedly a highlight in the quintet's oeuvre and should delight both old and new fans of the band from Lower Saxony.

 

For their long-time fans, the band has also re-recorded "Words Unspoken", one of their all-time classics from 1994, as a bonus and ported it into the new millennium.

Brutal storm of chords, screams, fast tempos and drums, melodic death metal with power and speed, fast and sharp guitars with a rhythmic base, the use of the double bass drum at full gallop.

 

Down The Icefall

 

An initial frontal attack of sharp chords, rhythmic and melodic drums, harmony in those guitars, together with the fierce vocals and slightly longer tempos, a bit of Heavy Metal style accentuated in the chords.

 

The Beckoning Silence

 

Melodic rhythms, sounds a bit similar to the previous song with a longer musical intro, then attack of chords with the classic gallop of thrash metal, with distortion and accentuating towards a lower scale.

 

Seven Summits

 

Hard and heavy drum entry with power, keeping the cool rhythm changes between that melodic death and thrash metal with those hard and heavy chords, fast and melodic violent riffs.

 

Ascending The Avalanche

 

A lighter song with light, sharp and long riffs, which gradually increases in density and rhythms.

 

Mallory's Mask

 

We return with energy and power, chords and drums together to open strong, some tempo changes between strong, fast and a little slower, a little melancholic and more heavy metal.

 

Into The Whiteout

 

Kicking off with a loud, ferocious scream, full of energy, speed and quickness, that double drum kick at full gallop.

 

Words Unspoken

 

Chords opening the beat strong, sharp and melodic, with a strong dose of riffs with that style of Heavy metal, very rhythmic.

 

This Ending

 

And closing a bit similar to the beginning of the album, atmospheric and soft.

 

My Recomendation

 

The new album 'The Ever-Rest' is Final Cry's sixth album with ten new songs which show us their melodic side, with a good base on which the songs were composed, eternal rest on the biggest mountain in the world, melodic death is the basis of the entire album combining styles such as the fast parts of thrash metal and a bit of melancholy and passion in the rhythmic passages of heavy metal, a mature, harmonic, rhythmic album, with a beginning and end great atmospheric in that personal touch, for lovers of Melodic Death will be more than satisfied!

¡Todavía en la pista!

 

Durante más de 30 años, FINAL CRY ha sido una parte constante de la escena del metal alemán y ahora presentan su sexto albúm de larga duración con la epopeya montañera "The Ever-Rest". Una vez más, la banda consigue reinventarse sin perder de vista sus raíces.

 

Su sonido, aún enraizado en el thrash metal, cautiva con riffs despiadados, batería rugiente y un gran sentimiento por las melodías y la atmósfera, y construye un puente entre el thrash clásico de los 80 y los oscuros estilos escandinavos de los 90, que cada vez encuentran su camino. En el sonido de la banda desde "Neptune's Relief" (2007) a más tardar. Después de que el guitarrista Eiko asumiera el papel de Mike en el álbum anterior "Zombique", este puesto ahora lo ocupa Kai Wilhelm (Across The Burning Sky, a.o.). Mi Recomendación

 

El nuevo albúm 'The Ever-Rest' es el sexto álbum de Final Cry con diez nuevas canciones de las cuales nos muestran su lado melódico, con una buena base sobre la cual se compusieron las canciones, el descanso eterno en la montaña más grande del mundo, el melodic death es la base de todo el albúm combinando estilos como en las partes veloces del thrash metal y un poco de melancolía y pasión en los pasajes rítmicos de heavy metal, un albúm maduro, armónico, rítmico, con un inicio y final atmosférico genial en ese toque personal, para los amantes del Melodic Death quedaran más que satisfechos!
