Scarleth is remarkable and experienced Ukrainian metal band playing music on joint of modern heaviness and diverse melodism. For the time being the band has played several hundreds of live shows, released two full-length albums worldwide and took part in many festivals where Blind Guardian, Rage, Ensiferum, Rotting Christ, Leaves’ Eyes, Kalmah, Cemetery Of Scream, Atrocity and other famous bands performed. Band’s style is expanding constantly and represents mind-blowing mixture of many melodic genres – from power, folk, doom and gothic metal to modern/progressive metal. The band completely deserves to be called one of the most outstanding young musical representatives of its style

Who is Scarleth band! Who are each one?
SB:
We are group of five enthusiastic musicians:

How the band formed?
SB:
The Band has a big history, but nowadays Scarleth is our “Five” which was assembled in 2015 when Victor came from Donetsk to Kyiv. It was like a year of searching of band members and finally all we got together. Since then our new story begins =)
You have many musical styles which gives an excellent combination like power, folk, doom and gothic metal to modern/progressive metal, for you what it means Modern Metal? Is a single style or are combinations of other musical styles within the metal.
SB:
Well, so many music styles and so many assumptions about them. As you said we are not focused on one specific style, mixing some oriental, power, melodic, ukrainian parts and we are doing our best to make it sound modernly while trying to stay some kind of “Scarleth style”. I think this is our definition of “Modern Metal”
And the Symphonic metal? Is it part of your musical repertoire?
SB:
Big part of our music is occupied by keyboards. We have a lot of various flutes, violins, orchestra, native instruments and other stuff =) But “symphonic metal” is usually opera with those “epic voices”, Nightwish, Epica, etc. We don’t associate ourselves with that kind of music.
Who composes the music and who writes the lyrics?
SB:
For like three years we were composing our new album. Music was a result of common work, sometimes we were jamming, finding out cool riffs. Sometimes Victor came up with great guitar stuff and we tried to play along with it. Sometimes just wrote in Reaper (we like this DAW). Lyrics in this album were mostly written by Victor. He did really great and we liked them so much. Lyrics for our ukrainian song was written by Kate.
Darkzen:
An excellent teamwork!
Is there a heavier genre that you would like to mix? like for example a Melodic Death? Why not?
SB:
We have lowered tuning of guitars, added few rough riffs so some songs can be heavy. As I said we are not afraid to mix styles so why not. Maybe you will never hear Grindcore or Brutal Death in Scarleth… but who knows :)
For Katrina Kapshuk:
What is your musical history?
Katrina:
My musical history is more than ten years of vocal lessons. I tried myself in pop music, in jazz and once I came to rock music. It was very sudden and unexpected for me. Since then Scarleth is a part of my heart. I can’t imagine myself in another genre. I’m already used to the dancing public near the stage. I’m used to people who come off, jump, yell during concerts... I will not exchange this audience for people who modestly sit in the concert hall and clap their hands.
Darkzen:
I agree with you! The best audience! Yeah!
How did you get to the band?
Katrina:
I moved to the capital from the Kharkov region (Ukraine). I immediately started looking for a new musical team. One friend advised a site where you can search for musical soulmates. At that moment I met a guy who heard Scarleth first and said that it sounds powerful and professional. He asked if I would like to try to work with them. Then I just laughed. I AM? in metal music? And then I listened to them and fell in love. The second album blew me away. I came to something like casting and now we have been together for almost 4 years. It was a match. We have found each other.
How do you train your voice?
Katrina:
I don’t have a teacher right now. I’m my own coach. I listen to professionals, look for something that I want to learn and try it until it works out. In fact, I made a lot of breakthroughs in vocals with Scarleth. The years of classes were not in vain, but when I was left alone, without a teacher. I learned to listen to myself and develop personality. All my work on myself will shoot the audience like an atomic bomb in our third album.
Metal or Hard Rock and why?
Katrina:
Well, this music has so much energy to it! It is not something you can find anywhere else. By the way, guys think that my voice matches rock/metal style really good, so I’m happy about that :)
Darkzen:
In fact I agree with them, you have that style of voice Kat
What does Katrina do outside the scenes?
Katrina:
She lives an ordinary life! :) Twice a week I have rehearsals with a band. I continue my studies in journalism. I look for myself and my place in the world. I'm experiencing existential crises, quarrels, ups and downs, like everyone else does. Everything is very simple.
If i told you 'You will perform a duet singing with' Who would you choose? Why?
Katrina:
I would choose two girls whom I admire: Tetyana Shmaylyuk from Jinjer and Sharon den Adel from Within Temptation. Tetyana is an experimenter in music. It's amazing how she mixes genres. And Sharon is a favorite classic, an idol of my childhood.
Darkzen:
Without a doubt! Tetyana has a formidable voice! I heard her in live and her voice is awesome! With Sharon it is simply unique!
For Yana Kovalskaya
What is your story and why in the Scarleth band?
Yana:
I play music since age of 6. I’ve graduated piano classes of Lviv conservatory. Since age of 17 I was into rock music and started to search for a band to play in. I have tried different bands, styles, played in several bands simultaneously, but was never satisfied. Music of Scarleth is great for me because of interesting keyboard parts and arrangements. Songs are very good overall!
Why the keyboard? Is there any other instrument that you like?
Yana:
Since early childhood I dreamed to play violin, but mother took me to piano lessons (don’t know why). I really liked piano since then. But I also like harp and would like to play it someday. Besides that, I like cello, drums and bass - that would be cool to know how to play these :-) But keyboards are my forever and only true love.
After the álbum The Silver Lining (2015) Is there a new álbum in process?
SB:
Not long ago we finished our album "Vortex". All I can say that will be very diverse, powerful, experimental and fresh. Yes, and it will be released this fall of 2019! Don’t miss it =)
Will there be a new video or single soon? some advance
SB:
Of course, we will share our song “Feel the Heat” which is bright song about party and good time. But let me keep in secret which format it will be. Soon you will find out =)
What plans does Scarleth band and Katrina have for this year?
SB-Katrina:
Now we are fully focused on third album. We are looking forward to share it with as many people as we can. It will be hard work of spreading it and playing lots of gigs. Actually, it’s what we like and what we are excited about.
Any new tour in your Country or Europe? Some news for your fans?
SB:
In October we will be in small ukrainian tour, dedicated to album “Vortex”. And of course huge show in Kyiv in November. All info will be in our instagram and facebook, don’t miss it =) It’s what is already confirmed. Next we will work on further shows in Ukraine and abroad.

SB:
It’s vital to do what you love. Especially nowadays in a world that is changing so fast. Don’t lie to yourself, be what you are!

Scarleth es una notable y experimentada banda de metal ucraniana que toca música en conjunto con la pesadez moderna y melodías diversas. Por el momento, la banda ha tocado varios cientos de shows en vivo, lanzó dos álbumes de larga duración en todo el mundo y participó en muchos festivales donde Blind Guardian, Rage, Ensiferum, Rotting Christ, Leaves 'Eyes, Kalmah, Cemetery Of Scream, Atrocity y otras bandas famosas actuaron. El estilo de la banda se expande constantemente y representa una mezcla alucinante de muchos géneros melódicos, desde power, folk, doom y gothic metal hasta metal moderno / progresivo. La banda merece ser llamada uno de los jóvenes representantes musicales más destacados de su estilo.

¿Quién es la banda Scarleth? ¿Quiénes son cada uno?
SB:
Somos un grupo de cinco músicos entusiastas:
- Victor (guitarra)

¿Cómo se formó la banda?
SB:
La Banda tiene una gran historia, pero hoy en día Scarleth es nuestro "Five", que se reunió en 2015 cuando Victor vino de Donetsk a Kiev. Fue como un año de búsqueda de miembros de la banda y finalmente todos juntos. Desde entonces nuestra nueva historia comienza =)
Tienen muchos estilos musicales que le dan una excelente combinación como power, folk, doom y gothic metal al metal moderno / progresivo, ¿para ustedes qué significa Modern Metal? Es un estilo único o son combinaciones de otros estilos musicales dentro del metal.
SB:
Bueno, tantos estilos musicales y tantas suposiciones sobre ellos. Como dijiste, no estamos enfocados en un estilo específico, mezclando algunas partes orientales, poderosas, melódicas, ucranianas y estamos haciendo todo lo posible para que suene moderno mientras tratamos de mantener algún tipo de "estilo Scarleth". Creo que esta es nuestra definición de "metal moderno"
¿Y el metal sinfónico? ¿Es parte de su repertorio musical?
SB:
Gran parte de nuestra música está ocupada por teclados. Tenemos muchas flautas, violines, orquesta, instrumentos nativos y otras cosas =) Pero el "metal sinfónico" generalmente es ópera con esas "voces épicas", Nightwish, Epica, etc. No nos asociamos con ese tipo de música.
¿Quién compone la música y quién escribe la letra?
SB:
Durante unos tres años estuvimos componiendo nuestro nuevo álbum. La música fue el resultado de un trabajo común, a veces estábamos interfiriendo, descubriendo riffs geniales. A veces, a Víctor se le ocurrían grandes cosas de guitarra y tratamos de tocarlas. A veces solo escribí en Reaper (nos gusta este DAW). Las letras de este álbum fueron escritas principalmente por Victor. Lo hizo muy bien y nos gustaron mucho. La letra de nuestra canción ucraniana fue escrita por Kate.

Un excelente trabajo en equipo!
¿Hay un género más pesado que te gustaría mezclar? como por ejemplo un Death melódico? Por qué no?
SB:
Hemos reducido la afinación de las guitarras, hemos agregado algunos riffs bruscos para que algunas canciones puedan ser pesadas. Como dije, no tenemos miedo de mezclar estilos, ¿por qué no? Quizás nunca escuches Grindcore o Brutal Death en Scarleth ... pero quién sabe :)
Para Katrina Kapshuk:
¿Cuál es tu historia musical?
Katrina:
Mi historia musical es más de diez años de lecciones vocales. Me probé en la música pop, en el jazz y una vez que llegué a la música rock. Fue muy repentino e inesperado para mí. Desde entonces Scarleth es parte de mi corazón. No me puedo imaginar en otro género. Ya estoy acostumbrada al público bailando cerca del escenario. Estoy acostumbrada a las personas que se bajan, saltan, gritan durante los conciertos ... No cambiaré esta audiencia por personas que se sientan modestamente en la sala de conciertos y aplauden.
Darkzen:
Estoy de acuerdo contigo! La mejor audiencia! Yeah!
¿Cómo llegaste a la banda?
Katrina:
Me mudé a la capital desde la región de Jarkov (Ucrania). Inmediatamente comencé a buscar un nuevo equipo musical. Un amigo aconsejó un sitio donde puede buscar almas gemelas musicales. En ese momento conocí a un tipo que escuchó a Scarleth primero y dijo que suena poderoso y profesional. Me preguntó si me gustaría intentar trabajar con ellos. Entonces solo me reí. ¿SOY? en la música metal? Y luego los escuché y me enamoré. El segundo álbum me dejó alucinada. Llegué a algo así como el casting y ahora hemos estado juntos durante casi 4 años. Fue un partido. Nos hemos encontrado el uno al otro.
¿Cómo entrenas tu voz?
Katrina:
No tengo un maestro en este momento. Soy mi propio entrenador. Escucho a profesionales, busco algo que quiero aprender y lo pruebo hasta que funcione. De hecho, hice muchos avances en la voz con Scarleth. Los años de clases no fueron en vano, sino cuando me quedé sola, sin un maestro. Aprendí a escucharme a mí misma y desarrollar mi personalidad. Todo mi trabajo sobre mí misma disparará a la audiencia como una bomba atómica en nuestro tercer álbum.
¿Metal o Hard Rock y por qué?
Katrina:
Bueno, ¡esta música tiene tanta energía! No es algo que puedas encontrar en ningún otro lado. Por cierto, los chicos piensan que mi voz coincide con el estilo rock / metal realmente bien, así que estoy feliz por eso :)
Darkzen:
De hecho coincido con ellos, tienes ese estilo de voz Kat!
¿Qué hace Katrina fuera de escena?
Katrina:
Ella vive una vida ordinaria! :) Dos veces a la semana tengo ensayos con una banda. Continúo mis estudios en periodismo. Me busco a mí misma y a mi lugar en el mundo. Estoy experimentando crisis existenciales, disputas, altibajos, como todos los demás. Todo es muy simple.
Si te dijera 'Harás un dúo cantando con' ¿A quién elegirías? ¿Por qué?
Katrina:
Elegiría a dos chicas a las que admiro: Tetyana Shmaylyuk de Jinjer y Sharon den Adel de Within Temptation. Tetyana es una experimentadora en música. Es sorprendente cómo mezcla géneros. Y Sharon es un clásico favorito, un ídolo de mi infancia.

Sin duda alguna! Tetyana tiene una formidable voz! En vivo la é escuchado y es impresionante la voz de ella! Con Sharon es simplemente única!

¿Cuál es tu historia y por qué en la banda Scarleth?
Yana
Toco música desde los 6 años. Me gradué de piano en el conservatorio de Lviv. Desde los 17 años me gustaba la música rock y comencé a buscar una banda para tocar. He probado diferentes bandas, estilos, toqué en varias bandas simultáneamente, pero nunca estuve satisfecha. La música de Scarleth es excelente para mí debido a las partes y arreglos interesantes del teclado. Las canciones son muy buenas en general!
¿Por qué el teclado? ¿Hay algún otro instrumento que te guste?
Yana
Desde la infancia soñé con tocar el violín, pero mi madre me llevó a clases de piano (no sé por qué). Realmente me gustó el piano desde entonces. Pero también me gusta el arpa y me gustaría tocarlo algún día. Además de eso, me gusta el violonchelo, la batería y el bajo. Sería genial saber cómo tocarlos :-) Pero los teclados son mi único y verdadero amor.
Después del álbum The Silver Lining (2015) ¿Hay un nuevo álbum en proceso?
SB:
No hace mucho tiempo terminamos nuestro álbum "Vortex". Todo lo que puedo decir que será muy diverso, poderoso, experimental y fresco. ¡Sí, y se lanzara este otoño de 2019! No te lo pierdas =)
¿Habrá un nuevo vídeo o un single pronto? algún avance
SB:
Por supuesto, compartiremos nuestra canción "Feel the Heat", que es una canción brillante sobre fiesta y buen momento. Pero déjame mantener en secreto qué formato será. Pronto lo descubrirás =)
¿Qué planes tienen la banda Scarleth y Katrina para este año?
SB-Katrina:
Ahora estamos totalmente enfocados en el tercer álbum. Esperamos compartirlo con tantas personas como podamos. Será difícil difundirlo y tocar muchos conciertos. En realidad, es lo que nos gusta y lo que nos entusiasma.
¿Alguna gira nueva en tu país o Europa? ¿Alguna noticia para tus fans?
SB:
En octubre estaremos en una pequeña gira ucraniana, dedicada al álbum "Vortex". Y, por supuesto, gran espectáculo en Kiev en noviembre. Toda la información estará en nuestro instagram y facebook, no te la pierdas =) Es lo que ya está confirmado. A continuación, trabajaremos en otros espectáculos en Ucrania y en el extranjero.
